Nathan Burns is the ultimate playboy. Goofy, free-spirited, wild. At least that’s what everyone thinks. The truth? He hasn’t had eyes for anyone but Emmett since the day he walked into the gorgeous omega’s bar looking for a job.
But the omega won’t give him the time of day. What choice does he have but to push his buttons? Flirting to make Emmett jealous was the plan, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Emmett's focused on everything but love.
Too bad Nathan and his wolf have made their choice...
Emmett Tinsley is an omega on a mission. One successful, small-town bar down, another to go. His plan, prove to his family he’s as good and capable as any alpha.
But he wants more… or maybe he just wants one alpha… Nathan Burns.
Only the alpha seems to take pleasure in getting a rise out of him and flirting with every available omega he sets his eyes on. If only he could stop craving him...
With fated mates coming back full force, Nathan and Emmett are about to be swept up in the madness. Can they stop driving each other crazy long enough to see what’s right in front of them? Or will their walls be impossible to break down?
Yikes, this just didn't feel like the first book did for me, at all.
Too much melodrama, and too much focus on the Big Misunderstanding (my biggest personal pet peeve is when some stupid happens that could be cleared up with one simple conversation, and this had that in spades.)
Also, there was just something about the writing that didn't feel descriptive. It made the dialogue seem flat and just didn't work for me.
I would be interested in the third story, because I truly enjoyed the first book in the series, so I hope this one was just a fluke for me.
A lot of people saw an oblivious Alpha did not. That all the teasing and arguing he did with his Omega boss was just foreplay. Something was brewing beneath the surface that neither wanted to admit to. Then a trip forced them into close proximity for several days. Feelings emerged that had been kept in check and scales fell off of eyes.
A misunderstanding led to tense silences, separate rooms, cold shoulders, confusion, anger, and misery. Frustration and lack of communication created an even wider more emotionally painful riff.
What made it much worse were two very stubborn men. An unusually laughing fun loving Alpha and an overly ambitious Omega who felt he had a great deal to prove being one Omega with six Alpha siblings. Good friends and family had to come to the rescue of the non-relationship of the two stubborn but heart hurting men.
These were were so fun to read about. I love the enemies to lovers trope, and it was delightful to see Nathan wear down Emmett's walls to show him that he is worth being loved. White there were no surprises in this story, it was enjoyable to see these two reach their unique path to an HEA.
This was a very delightful read and the romance between Emmet and Nathan was sweet but rocky at times. There was a huge misunderstanding (which I don't like at all in my romance stories) between Emmet (needed to communicate) and Nathan, but once that was finally settled everything was fun and very heartwarming. Excellent story.
It wasn't bad, but I hated it. DNF at 95%, which is a first for me. This was ok until the reconciliation, which was profoundly annoying to witness. Maybe it's because I usually don't like it when the omega is in the wrong or maybe it's because I'm in Super PMS mode right now, but I hated the way things were resolved and I'm regretting the time I put into reading this.
This is the second book in the Burns Brothers series this time we get Nate and Emmett's story. I really enjoyed this book although both main characters are so stubborn and frustratingly don't communicate as well as they should the main characters are both likable and you do want them to work through their problems. I also liked the twist of an strong and bossy Omega and the snarky, teasing between Nate and Emmett gave a realness to their relationship. It was obvious where it was heading but it was a great ride getting to the HEA
This series is short, sweet, and adorable. I loved this workplace, “hate” to love, romance. And it’s omegaverse so I was in love from the beginning. This story also has elements of fated mates which made it even better. Highly recommend if you love omegaverse!
Loved Emmet and Nathan. Love the love/hate relationship they have going on. Much better than the first book grammatically. Looking forward to Jed’s book.
This one wasn't nearly as good as book 1 and it also still had the same editing errors that bothered me in book 1 so I gave it 2 stars.
In book 1 the main family talks about money issues but also builds a home for the main couple this is discussed more in book 2 and it started to bother me because if money is tight then they shouldn't have money for building a new house. It is just wrong.
This main couple is enemies to lovers and I'm just not feeling it. The timeline feels funny and I'm never a fan of poor communication.
I think the worst thing is that the author calls these books shifter but the shifting is so minor it is practically omegaverse.
Taming the Alpha is the second book in the Burns Brothers series by author Skyler Snow. This is my first time reading this series and I was not lost at all reading this book. This book is written in dual POV, I did like it. Though I am not a fan of POV switches done in paragraphs, for example, paragraph a is one character and the next paragraph is a new character, this style did work for this book. Nathan, he works at a bar and is an alpha. He wants Emmett but he can’t seem to get the omega to see him. Emmett is the owner of the bar. He works as a bartender with Nathan the one person he can count on to be there for him. He wants to prove to the world that is he as good as any alpha out there even though he is an omega. He wants more out of life. I think in this book Emmett just really needed to stop proving himself and see that he has what he really wants right in front of him. He is so worried about being good enough he cannot see he already is. This is a sweet romance with spice thrown in. I really liked it and cannot wait for more from this series in the future.
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
Emmett is an omega who owns a bar. Nathan is an alpha and bartender who works for Emmett. Nathan has felt an attraction for Emmett for two years, since he began working for him. He's a known playboy who has no intentions of settling down. Emmett has some self-esteem issues and doesn't really think of Nathan that way. When Emmett opens up a bar in a neighboring town, he needs Nathan's help. Circumstances throw them together, and he sees a different side of Nathan. Things are going fine until a misunderstanding wreaks havoc. Emmett has to learn to be more trusting and believe in his worth, while Nathan needs to learn to be more open about his emotions and not let Emmett cut him off at the knees. I loved this installment in this series and I can't wait for the next Burns brother, Jed to get his story.
A quick, fun read! I liked this book more than the first book and recommend it, especially if you're a fan of the genre. The main characters were introduced in the first book and I was eager for their story. Thankfully, this book didn't disappoint! The story is mainly focused on the relationship, which felt established from the beginning (one of my favorite things). Emmett is just charmingly stubborn to acknowledge it. I super appreciate that Emmett's character largely remains the same, in that he's headstrong and confident, and he doesn't become a stereotype just because he's an omega. Both the main characters and side characters are well-developed and add to the story. There is a little relationship drama, but it doesn't drag on and is confronted soon after it's introduced. I'm looking forward to more books in this series!
{I was provided with an ARC for an honest review :).}
Lots of typos again. Nothing worse than the first book. Misspellings, plurals as possessives and possessives as plurals, etc.
I thought it was fun that there was a twist on the classic “oops and omega goes into heat and they have sex and now they’re pregnant” with Nate being the one to go into a rut and Emmett offering to help him.
I liked Emmett and Nate pretty well. They had pretty clear personalities for the most part, and I appreciated Emmett as the omega had dreams and goals in addition to his family planning hopes (so often in this genre that’s not the case). It was a simple story but enjoyable.
