Although I'm finished reading the dialogue of the book, I'm far from finished with this book. The examples and techniques shared are some that I will use moving forward in my hand lettering journey. I really enjoyed the sections about bubble letters and others ways to draw letters with various flourishes. This will be a book I come back to for reference or inspiration. I've followed Cindy's YouTube since I began my hand lettering journey. She is very talented and approachable especially with a bullet journal focus. She's honest and funny.
I'm probably biased as I'm a huge fan of Cindy's but I loved this book. Absolutely a short read and more about the lettering practice, but as a fan of her channel, it felt like she was there with me. Encouraging me (although to be fair, I had to insert my own colorful language to make it more authentic). Highly recommend if you're looking for an easy to follow lettering book although be forewarned, it doesn't get into any modern calligraphy.
I usually don't review these types of instructional books, but this one was great. I already am a fan of Cindy's YouTube channel, but I'm PICKY when it comes to these types of books. This really struck a balance between the actual lessons and the practice spaces. My favorite part, and what is often missing from lettering workbooks, is that Cindy always shows the full alphabet when she introduces a new font/technique (still mad about the one lettering book I read that said I should Google fonts I liked). The instructions are clear and concise, and the book is laid over a light dot grid so everything is easier to visualize. Many books have worksheets with so many guidelines that is can be intimidating. Honestly, that's the bottom line: this book isn't intimidating. It is straightforward, provides enough instruction, lets you know you have to practice, but doesn't take itself too seriously.
Cindy is by far one of my favorite hand lettering artists. In this book, she breaks down different styles of hand lettering and goes beyond faux calligraphy into bubble lettering and how to mix styles. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who journals, plans, or just wants to practice their lettering.
Cute Hand Lettering by Cindy Guentert is a sweet, little book that’s filled with simple directions and is loaded with fun ideas for hand lettering. Lettering begins with easy and progresses to more involved styles. There are places for practice right in the book. If you’d like to give hand lettering a try, this is a great place to start.
Excellent little book for anyone interested in creating cute letters. I especially like the section on decorating letters with doodles. So cute and inspiring. The book includes practice pages for experimenting. This is a fabulous little book to give as a gift (perhaps with some Sharpie markers).
Me encantó! súper dinámico y cute (literalmente). Lo único es que considero necesitas otros utensilios más allá de libro, como: lápices específicos, hojas y más. Todo el libro, 1000 pts!
