Lasting Shadows is the third book in the Shadows Landing series by Kathleen Brooks. Shadows Landing Series combines small-town charm, suspense, and a dash of romance.
This is a contemporary romance series with a small-town setting, some romantic suspense elements, a little drama, intrigue, tension, mystery, humour, and adventure.
After reading Ms. Brooks ‘Bluegrass’ series, and not being as ‘blown away’ by them as I had expected and hoped, I wasn’t sure if I would take the plunge into this series or not. But as they were sitting on my TBR already, and also wanting to clear my TBR list, I decide to just dive in and get them done. I have to admit that, thankfully, I did ‘enjoy’ this series a bit more than the Bluegrass books.

Ridge: mmmmmmmm Can I scale that ridge?? I will even buy hiking boots lol!
Savannah: She kinda gets hurt a lot. She has a creepy ex husband who needs to get a taste of some serious revenge medicine. She isn't the strong female character that I usually like. But Ridge made up for it 100%.
Once again all the different characters in this book made my heart so very happy. I still think I would want to live in shadows landing... And I don't even like bbq food. I know... I am so sorry.
This book was a wonderful, quick little read. I am so glad that my coworker told me to check out this author. I don't know that I would have survived this quarantine without these books.
Kathleen Brooks is now one of my top 5 authors. Her and J.R Ward are in a race for #1.

Shadows Landing the perfect place with perfect men and perfect women that all belong to one big family or their friends. Quirky things happen because the town was founded by pirates, things like the church minister runs a women's defense class with pikes and knifes because when the pirates went to sea, the women had to protect the town so they have continued the tradition. A charity holds a a bachelor auction where Ridge Faulkner, a builder is bought by Savannah Ambrose, recently divorced with a house that is falling apart. Ridge thinks he is wanted for his skills, but there is a mutual attraction. After working on her house all day, Ridge takes Savannah out for dinner, on their return her house is on fire. So starts the story of who is trying to kill Ridge or Savannah.

Love this series!

Even though the story and characters are exceptional and tie in with the Bluegrass series.....i have an issue when authors leave unexplained gaps or leave things hanging ☹️. In this book early on Ridge packs a large bag of Savannah’s clothes and bathroom items puts in his truck - then he is pushed into the swamp along with her bag! So she has no clothes at his house. Then later on Kord again goes and packs her a small bag of clothes and bathroom items - now she is at her house taking a shower and using hairspray. Did they go shopping? How many Clothes were left at her house? Still gave it 5 stars but hate the holes and things left hanging!

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration.

Ridge and Savannah's book was not as full of suspense as I expected. It was still an enjoyable read. I found keeping up with the family members to be a little challenging, especially since it had been awhile since I read the Keeneston series.

I did admire Savannah for standing up to her ex, even when she was afraid. When his story was revealed, it was amazing the levels of betrayal Savannah experienced. I appreciated Ridge's desire to support her.

A good small town family read full of friendship, love, community support, and caring. It also provided some humor, romance, and a bit of heat.

Ridge Faulkner and Savannah (Benson) Ambrose Met under unusual circumstances. Savannah was new to Shadows Landings after she divorced. She decided to attend a charity auction for the single men in town. She bid for Ridge because she got a broken down home in divorce settlement. Basically she just need help fixing it up, but what neither of them counted on was falling in Love with each other. But someone was trying to kill her, and until they figured out who was trying to kill her they couldn’t move forward. This is a very suspenseful story I. True Kathleen Brooks style. I loved it!

Lasting Shadows brings a different kind of tension—one centered around home renovation, second chances, and hidden danger. Ridge Faulkner, a luxury home builder, ends up working with Savannah Ambrose after she "buys" his expertise at a charity auction. Their slow-burn romance is sweet and full of witty banter, but things take a dark turn when mysterious accidents start happening. The mystery isn’t as intense as in other books, but the chemistry between Ridge and Savannah makes this story deeply satisfying. A great blend of romance, small-town life, and suspense.

Hooray for Ridge

Ridge is one of my favorites so I love him finding his One. Savannah is trying to discover herself after an awful marriage. There's someone trying to kill Ridge and Savannah. The family and the crazy pirate loving town help keep them safe. Really enjoying this series.

I’m loving every book in this series so far. This one may be my favorite between the characters and storyline. I can’t help but laugh and smile as I’m reading, with the occasional gasp or sigh. This author really knows how tell a story and keep you interested from beginning to end. Off to binge more of this series.

Who is it?

Okay, now so far, this one is my favorite in the series. I am a sucker for action and getting the run around. Ridge and Savannah story truly accomplished that and some. That dude was crazy and the sidekick was even battier. Who goes through that much length for greed? I guess reading this gave my answer.

I didn't think the stories could get better but the hits just keep on keeping on. Ridge and Savannah stole my heart just like the previous pairs. Kathleen did a masterful job of weaving the story and again I did not see this evil coming. Not your average woman escapes from bad wealthy marriage to find a new start. You won't be disappoint in the twists and turns of this book or series.

Love, danger and happiness

Going back to shadows landing for yet anouther heart melting story that makes you feel as of you are part of the town.
Ridge was bought by Savannah at the bachelor auction and all she wanted was help fixing her house up that she was given in her divorce. What was suppose to be just a date to fix repairs turned into so much more when the chemistry is undeniable, what are you to do. But with Savannah's life in danger Ridge does everything in his power to protect her. With the town's help and the help of his family in shadows landing and in keenstin can they solve the case and have their happy ever after?

This is an entertaining mystery, with plenty of chemistry between Savannah and Ridge, romance, fun, quirky characters, and page-turning suspense. The book sucked me in right away and kept me guessing. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series!

There are a few things that are annoying in these stories but they are minor compared to the laughs you are going to have reading them. I don’t think i have read a story that made me laugh so much. The antics of this crew are hilarious even with the suspense.

Seriously good

This edition in the series, and the whole series are a thrilling read. Ms Brooks has a knack of taking the reader into the story, part of the family, and getting them in deep/hooked. I laughed, gasped, held my breath and cried at the antics in this book, I cannot recommend the series highly enough, in fact treat yourself and read all Kathleen Brooks books if you enjoy a great romance you'll not be disappointment.

Loved it

Savannah is trying to start her life over, but so.done is trying to kill her. Ridge is Savannah 's purchased date from the bachelor auction. Instead of a date, she needs him for his handyman skills while she's fixing up her house. When he gets embroiled into saving her life and his own, the attraction can't be denied. Now if only they can find the person who wants to kill her or him maybe they can do d out of their attraction is temporary or HEA.

As usual, Kathleen hasn't disappointed. This story is filled with plenty of sass, embarrassing situations, and drama. We get to see out Keeneston folks and also, meet some new folks. I love this book ask do all of her work. You won't be disappointed.
