Become a visual explorer and visit the striking country of Norway through 200 breathtaking images.
Did you know that Oslo is the only capital city in Europe where you can go cross-country skiing? Just take the metro to the suburbs and ski off the platform across the frozen, snowy landscape. Plus, Norway has Scandinavia’s most spectacular fjords, steep mountains, pretty fishing villages, beautiful beaches—and continental Europe’s largest glacier. In 200 stunning photographs, Norway presents this increasingly popular tourist destination, journeying from remote settlements within the Arctic Circle to Oslo’s lively city life, from the northern lights to white nights when the sun never sets, from sculpture gardens to immense bridges linking the country’s many islands.

This is a stunning visual and narrative journey through one of the world’s most breathtaking countries. The author beautifully captures Norway’s natural wonders—from the majestic fjords and the dancing Northern Lights to the tranquil fishing villages and modern Scandinavian cities like Oslo and Bergen. Each page feels like an invitation to pause, breathe and appreciate the art of nature.
Writing is informative yet poetic, blending geography, culture and history seamlessly. Readers learn not just about landscapes but also about the people and traditions that make Norway unique. The photographs complement the text perfectly, showcasing a country where raw wilderness meets refined design. Be it a bird or landscapes, the pictures were amazingly adventurous and affectionate.
If there’s one small drawback, it’s that a few cultural insights could have been explored in greater depth, especially regarding Norway’s Sami heritage and local folklore. Still, this doesn’t diminish the overall experience.
A truly enriching book for travelers, dreamers and lovers of the North. It is both an armchair escape and an inspiring guide to one of the world’s most serene destinations.
Norway is becoming a more popular tourist destination. I can see why after seeing the photos and reading the captions in Claudia Martin’s Norway book. Yes, there is lots of ice and cold, but the ice is layers of blues and whites with texture…and that seems to describe everything. Norway is full of color and texture, from fascinating architecture to the landscape and northern lights. Norway has over 6000 rock carvings that date between 4200 BCE and 300 BCE!
Do I want to visit now? Yes, absolutely. First, this Texas will need a much better winter coat.
Thank you, Netgalley and Amber Books , for the ARC!
When I think of Norway, I think of stunningly beautiful scenery, interesting wildlife, glaciers, fjords, and Northern Lights. Maybe a Viking museum. This book is packed with gorgeous photographs. Most are of natural beauty. There are also photos of interesting architecture, everyday life, and artworks.
The book itself is a work of art. This is not a travel guide at all, although there are brief descriptions providing details of the photographs. This is the type of book that I enjoy perusing and dreaming of an upcoming trip, a souvenir of a completed journey, or perhaps just to enjoy the beauty of Norway.

Norway is full of awe inspiring "pinch me" scenery and this book highlights the vast expanses of mountainous terrain, glaciers, fjords, wilderness, and urban areas beautifully contrasting austere ice-fields, charming small fishing villages, and big city night life side by side.
Five stars. This would be a good choice for public or school library acquisition, home use/display, or gift giving.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
This is the most gorgeous book. Having been to Norway in 2018 it brought back lovely memories and inspired me to visit again to see so many other things that I haven't seen yet.
The photographs are all amazing - well shot and a good variety of subjects from landscapes, astounding scenery to food, building interiors, wildlife, etc. I found Norway to be an exceptional country with crystal clear and clean air, good quality food, well built and maintained roads, tunnels, bridges and ferries. This book captures all elements of Norwegian everyday life and their culture.
With thanks to NetGalley and Amber Books for a free pdf copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait to see the full resolution version in print and be able to spend many a happy hours browsing the photos and learning more about Norway.
This photography book captures in beautiful pictures the wild variety of Norway. I was quite taken with the photos of the Lofoten Islands, the part of Norway I'm most familiar with. I added a number of new locations to my wish list for my next travels to this wonderful country.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
