At twenty-four, Teddy should be used to feeling abandoned and unwanted. After all, he’s been dealing with it most of his life. But a recent breakup takes him completely by surprise and now he’s on his own again. Nursing new and old hurts, he leans on his makeshift family and finds solace in a growing and unexpected friendship with an older man.
Forty-two-year-old Barrett has successfully ignored his biggest need for years. His last boy left him questioning everything he knew, and he is determined to lead a vanilla life, no matter how much his friends try to convince him to be true to himself. When he learns his favorite barista needs a new place to stay, he offers a solution that leads to spending more time with the younger man.
A change in circumstances brings both men together and their buried feelings to light. Teddy knows he’s attracted to Barrett but isn’t sure if he’s ready to risk his heart again, and Barrett is losing the struggle against his dominant nature. Will learning Barrett’s kinky secret be too much for Teddy, or is it just the thing he never knew he needed?
Teddy & His Bear is a 90K word slow-burn, May/December, Daddy kink MM romance featuring one hot Daddy, his sweet new boy, coffee, and unicorns.
Andi James has been in love with books and words her entire life. She writes about people finding things — themselves, happiness, love — and edits all kinds of stories. Her two dogs and three cats are her favorite co-workers. She adores coffee, the night sky, and horror movies.
Teddy and His Bear is a bit of fluffy, sexy goodness. I'm not a big fan of Daddy/boy stories, but this book is sweet and not creepy at all.
Teddy was really childish, but that fit with his need for a Daddy who'd care for him and structure his life. Barrett had a need to nurture and protect. He was perfect for Teddy.
Some of the meddling and banter between the MCs and their besties felt forced. I had a hard time believing adults would act like this (and not all of them were subs/boys).
I'll definitely read the second book in this series. Some days, brain candy is all I can manage, and these authors' easy, breezy writing style is fun and appealing.
Re-read November 2019 I do love daddy kink so much..
--------------------------- 4.25 stars
Teddy was adorable, and Barrett was the perfect daddy. I loved this.
Teddy comes home to his two boyfriends to find them waiting for him. They are breaking up with him and they want to continue as a couple, together, without Teddy. Teddy is heartbroken and didn’t see that coming at all.
Because he has no place to go, he moves in with his best friend. But even though his best friend is amazing, Teddy is still sad.
Barret is a regular at Claudette’s coffee shop where Teddy works. When Barret hears about Teddy’s housing problem he offers the empty apartment above his garage.
Teddy is grateful for Barret’s offer, but he isn’t sure why the sexy older man has made such an offer. But after Teddy has moved in, Teddy is over at Barret’s a lot and the two really hit it off.
Barret is sure Teddy is not ready for a new relationship, so he keeps things platonic between them. And even if Teddy would be interested in him, he’s sure they wouldn’t be compatible, since Barret is looking for a boy to call him Daddy…..
Teddy was simply adorable. He made such a cute boy once he learned everything about daddy kink. And this had wonderful daddy kink indeed. No age-play, just a daddy/boy dynamic and some spanking.
This also had some lovely hurt/comfort when Teddy got hurt and Barret had to take care of him for several weeks.
We also got introduced to several interesting characters who undoubtedly get their own book in this series. I can’t wait to read about them!
This was a very cute book, with no relationship angst of any kind. There was some heartbreak in the beginning when Teddy was hurt by his two ex-boyfriends, but the rest was angst free and just smooth sailing.
I absolutely loved this story between Teddy and his Bear. It was high on emotions, love, and happiness, with some steam and some kink thrown in as well.
Teddy has had a rough life, he’s been abandoned, been alone, and now most recently his two boyfriends unexpectedly broke up with him. Teddy is staying with his friend, when Barrett steps in and offers him a place to stay. Barrett is almost 20 years older than Teddy, and has tried to stay away from kink and his Daddy-ness after his own bad breakup. But he sees the possibility of so much more with Teddy, although he does fight it at first. At first they both want friendship, but it’s so clear they’re crazy for the other.
I loved these two together, how perfect they were for each other and how they healed by being such a great couple together. It’s a very sweet story, and a bit of a slow burn. For people wanting more hardcore kink or daddy lifestyle, this might be a bit too sweet for you. But if you want a sweet story with minimal angst, definitely give this one a try.
I look forward to more from this author collab, it was great!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
ETA on 6/17/19 - I also really enjoyed the narrator. This is the first book I have listened to from him, and I thought his voices and mannerisms for Teddy and Barrett were great, and I loved Dylan and all of his "OH MY GOD"s. Look forward to hopefully hearing more from this narrator!
Fantasyland Daddy / baby boy kink. You know where sometimes in reading you can completely suspend your belief system and still manage to be entertained? Thirsting for more?
Daddy kink is very hot, super hot actually, when the participants are written as mature, free thinking adults.
Here we have an older, well educated man, a physician, pairing up with an emotionally stunted, immature man in his early twenties. I can easily see Teddy’s attraction. Daddy? Daddy has to have rocks in his head to fall for this goober. Implausible, not believable and downright silly. Dumb if you will.
Christ I thought if baby boy jumps in Daddy’s lap one more time and talks like a five-year-old I was going to skeeve on the utter creepiness. I was expecting Daddy to stick a bottle in Teddy’s mouth just to stop the whining, or maybe a binky! Yikes! I know, I know to each his own. Not my cup of kinky tea however.
Plus, I skimmed the sex scenes. Boring. A total snoozer. Been there, done that in a gazillion books that came before.
Super sweet with a tiny dash of spice. This is the kind of story that is all about the warm cuddles, loving hugs, sweet kisses, and soft, kind-hearted heroes. It is almost angst-free, and it will leave you with a feeling of comfort and coziness. In times like these, my mind (and my heart) need all the sweetness and fluff they can find.
There's nothing spectacular about Teddy and His Bear, the plot goes where one would think and at the pace it should. The characters are creative though a smidge flat. This one is no where near as kinky as what I usually read - though there's a very nice scene at the local BDSM club with wax play, impact play, and exhibitionism. The authors keep all the kink tender and romantic, and very clean.
I think the thing that worked the best for me in Teddy and His Bear is the hurt/comfort aspect of the story. Both characters are getting over some stuff, and watching them heal is rewarding. (I actually teared up several times during this one, and if the authors can pull me in that completely it does make me want to read another of their stories.)
This is a good choice if you're looking for a sweet and mild Daddy kink story, with a good heat level and a decent plot.
The story was ok. Teddy, at times, said thigs and acted like a 5 year old would. He acted more like an inexperienced teen than someone in his mid-twenties that had been in a threesome relationship for to years.
This started off pretty good but gradually got sweeter and sicklier as it went on. It was written well but it's just not for me. I need a bit of edge and bite with my kink.
What a great book about a kink that I wasn't too sure about before reading it! It was super sweet with very little angst. Teddy and Barrett were great primary characters and the secondary characters were intriguing too and I can't wait to read more about them.
Okay so let me just say i fucking loved this book it’s definitely up there with let me in by Luna David which i read last year and was obsessed with. But this book might Just take the number one spot for favorite m/m daddy kink books because omg it was so amazing the characters were all so cute and i loved how the daddy called teddy baby boy it made my heart so warm. 🥰☺️ i am so excited for book two Leo and his lion I NEED IT NOW.
A sweet little daddy kink book with nothing extraordinary about it except that it left me with good feels. And that's always a plus.
Teddy is rejected by his two partners for no real reason but it adds to his insecurity since he's an orphan who moved from foster home to foster home after his gram died and he's never felt really wanted. He meets Barrett at the coffee shop where he works part time. Barrett is a doctor, and he's a nice older man and a silver fox. All things Teddy likes.
Long story short, Barrett offers to care for him when he's injured and the two find it hard to resist each other. When Teddy learns about Daddy kink and that Barrett is or has been a Daddy, it's a match made in heaven--provided Teddy can behave himself long enough to grab his Daddy's interest.
A nice story for those who are into Daddy kink. Not heavy at all. Oh, sex in public places, or semi-public places--in case someone needs that for a challenge. All in all, I'm happy I read it and I think I'm going to pick up book two.
I was excited when I started this. A Daddy kink and a guy whose just had a brokenheart. It was good in the beginning, but then Teddy became like a six year old kid. I can't see Teddy as an adult who has Daddy kink. He acted so childish and acting like a child. It was so annoying. I liked reading about this kink, but there's some books out there about Daddy kink way better than this one. I just can't with this one :(
I really quite enjoyed this ! It’s an easy, sweet Daddy / boy book that doesn’t go into age play - so good for most people who like a little kink. Teddy was a little immature at times, considering he’d come from a threesome, but I guess his naivety and sweet nature was what attracted Beckett. I’m keen to see the next few characters have their books.
Still so adorable. I enjoyed the narration quite a bit. The narrator did a great job. He's new to me, but I'll definitely give any future narrations a try.
okay so the story started out alright, like the first part, but then once Barrett and Teddy got in a relationship that is where the interest left. And being a romance book that is the opposite of what should happen.
Teddy just grated on my last nerve, he was whiney and rude and just an all around annoying character. I don't know how Barrett put up with that. I would have been driven up the wall what he did.
Also their Daddy/ boy relationship was just blah, i didn't feel anything. I mean i am just starting to dip my toes in this world of bdsm and kink i guess so can't say what should be for which kink, but this daddy/boy relationship didn't work for me like other books in the past. I think the reason i am starting to like those relationships is do to the hurt/comfort and protectiveness, but this one just didn't do it for me.
I don't think i will continue because Dylan is a little to airheaded for me to like as a character.
Teddy and His Bear is the first book in the Oh My series, but also Andi James and Lila Wilde's debut release.
The beginning of the book broke my heart. Teddy was as sweet and giving as anyone should be in a relationship only to get his heart trampled on. Things did get better for him though, thanks to his friends and best friend, Tony. Who I loved and hope he gets his own book!
Barrett was a sweetheart, and I loved the way he loved Teddy after he stopped fighting his feelings. While it irritated me that he fought it for so long, I also understood why.
This story packs a punch. And I'm super excited to see where they take this series.
I believe this is my first exposure to these two authors and I have to laud them for their smooth writing and storytelling.
My only gripe about the book was that there wasn’t much character growth. Barrett and Teddy felt a little one dimensional. I didn’t learn more about them through the story. They were presented as is and remained somewhat stagnant throughout.
And as for the daddy kink, it was very light. And most of the time it was explained, rather than being shown. I think the authors attempted to show but ended up with more tell and that’s a bummer. It wasn’t a deluge of information though so they at least had that going for them.
After all’s said and done, i am looking for the next instalment though =]
One announcement and the world under Teddy's feet has dropped. Feeling sad and alone, abandoned, he finds comfort in friends and work. There's one other bright spot, though, and that's the handsome older man that frequents the coffee shop where he works. Barrett has a crush on Teddy too, but with his damaged heart and their age gap, not to mention his suppressed desires, he can't see a future where they're together the way he truly wants. With the help of an accident-prone co-worker Teddy gets a glimpse of what a future might look like with the older man who's captured his attention and maybe a piece of his heart. If they can get past their pasts and accept one another for everything they are and enjoy they just might have a chance at forever.
Right from the outset I was moved by Teddy's pain. His ache became an echoing ache in my own heart. Partly because of things I'm going through but also because the writing was simple, clear, and good enough to convey the depth of what he felt. His evolution felt natural and organic, to a point. I think the new relationship dynamic he found with Barrett suited him to a T though I did feel he became a bit more naive than merely endearingly innocent toward the end. The way he could be sappy and scattered and yet perfect for Barrett's yearnings made up for that though.
Barrett was an interesting character. There's a lot about him to love and to root for. I will say, though, that he was endearing up to a point. The way he complemented Teddy and how they fit just right for one another's desires was a little too simplistic. Not that simple isn't good, it was just so nice that it felt a bit more sappy than deep.
The burn was very slow to start in this story but it was very much appreciated. It made their evolution all the more believable and created a great foundation to build on. Teddy and Barrett fit together very nicely, share a lot of passion, and have a seriously happy future ahead for them. With a great cast to encourage and support them they were able to overcome their individual difficulties to find a solid partnership in one another. I'm actually looking forward to reading the other couples' stories as well. There's definitely going to be some interesting roads they'll have to travel to earn their HEAs.
3.5 ⭐️ This book is fluff and smut, and I liked it. Teddy and Barrett are so sweet together, they are perfect for each other. 🤌🏻 Teddy was cute and sweet, and Barrett was affectionate and caring. Their D/b relationship was pretty believable to me, not cringe or creepy or fake. They took care of each other beautifully. 🩷 I liked this book, and the smut was pretty hot too 🥵 On the next one! I’m excited for Leo and Dylan the little menace 🤩
UPDATE : 2019/August/5 listening to the audiobook. Audio Review 2019/August/6 . For some unknown reason, listening to the audio version sort of bored me. I listened till chapter 14 of 22 . Story felt drawn out and slow. It was disappointing. I want to point out, the narrator was great , so its not about his performance . Conclusion: I sadly DNF audio. Yet, I stand to my original rating of 4🌟 for the ebook version.
Oh My, I love sweet Teddy Original ebook review 2018/November/3
Teddy and His Bear is a very sweet and romantic story. I love the relationship build-up between the MC , it's progression , the kink aspect of it and how was explained in an easy and organic way. I fell in love with the main and secondary characters and the world build around them .
I enjoyed the low angst, easy to read and loving feeling of this tale. Looking forward reading the upcoming books in the series.
Thank God I'm finally done. This book was way too long and just wasn't that catchy.
So I liked the first half, but then it just began to drag, and when Bear and Teddy finally got together, I could do nothing but cringe.
Also, BEAR AND TEDDY. Just why?
But anyways, Teddy was so dramatic and childish in a really annoying way. He was so insecure, and for me, it just didn't feel like he was ready for a relationship. He always doubted Bear, and honesty, l would have dumped him ages ago. And how can it be that he had been in a relationship with not one but TWO guys but still acts like a blushing virgin? Dude, get yo shit together.
OMG, I hated Bear as a Daddy. It may have to do with my preference and opinion on how they should act, so this is probably biased, but he was so un-Daddy. I wanted more control and dominance, but instead, I got someone who didn't even enjoy punishing his Little. Overall I just didn't like his character.
Why. Was. Dylan. Not. Fired? I don't get it! He was so clumsy and couldn't do shit properly, but they all brushed it off as his personality. I really wanted something bad to happen to him, but that's wishful thinking *sighs*.
I was so disappointed in this book. It just felt way too unrealistic and over-the-top. I even pictured the scenarios in my head and how it would play out, and it just wasn't normal behaviour. Like, I get that Teddy is a Little, but that doesn't mean he has to be childish and innocent. This book was just not it.
Oh, and what the heck was all of that unicorn shit. I felt as if I was reading a 5-year-old girls journal with all the "Do it for the unicorns" and shit.
Both authors are new to me and I will enjoy reading more from them both.
First, I just loved Teddy! His inner voice had me dying laughing. Secondly, I'm so glad Barrett got his head out of his ass and pursued Teddy because he was really @$%! me off. When you feel the attraction you should see where it will go but I can *shakes hand vigorously* understand what Barrett's problem was.
Out of despair, sometimes comes amazing opportunities for love; that’s what happened to Teddy & his Bear (Barrett). I liked all the characters, the pacing and the story is well written. An aside: I’ve read several of these Daddy Kink romance stories. I’ve noticed a pattern with the ‘Sweet Boys’, they seemed to be down on their luck, come from broken families, even have some neuroses. Which makes me wonder about whether the relationships are really as consensual as written. Or do these ‘Boys’ love because someone takes an interest. Are these relationships healthy? Finally, I know according to the authors, a Leo & Dylan story will be out in 2019. But I’m looking forward to a Tony & Jase and a fuller story about Charlie, too.
4.5 Stars Omg I am so in love with Teddy! Not having the best luck in life, I just wanted to cuddle and soothe him! But no one was better for that job than Barrett! It was such a beautiful story filled with tenderness, heart stealing moments and some good humour from not just the MC’s but side characters as well. The story wouldn’t be complete without some sexy times thrown in too! I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more about this group! Bring on Leo!
I haven't read many "Daddy and Baby Boy" books. I never quite understood the differences between Daddy relationships and Don/Sub relationships. This story showed me again that true love in all its firms is beautiful. If this is the dream of a Daddy relationship, then I see the caring and devotion. I enjoy reading stories that expand my awareness.
Of course Teddy is so adorable, how can one not love him. That he has joy and gives joy even with his lonely life is amazing.
My first read of a book by these authors, but it won't be my last. Bring on stories for Leo and for Jason and for Tony.
I really wasn't expecting to feel so many emotions during this book especially right at the beginning. But right from the start you will really feel for and fall for Teddy. He's just such a sweet cute character, and I thought his behavior & personality traits fit the story line really well. I appreciated the dynamic the two guys had together Barrett was the perfect Daddy for Teddy. This book was mostly just light and fun and super adorably cute.
Audiobook - Jack Dale was a new narrator for me. But I really enjoyed this audiobook and felt like he really gave us what was needed for the voices of Teddy and Barrett.
