This book is fine if you are very new to fasting and want to understand the detoxification nature of fasting. But it is by no means a complete guide to fasting nor provides a description of the many different types of fasts.
The research is a little more scanty than I’m used to when reading a nutrition book. Some of the topics discussed could be better supported with appropriate studies and journal articles. The sources he does use are not impressive. He sites his own books as well as online articles, which summarizes the actual studies, rather than using the studies themselves as sources. In addition, there are some misleading claims made from the sources such as the information about green tea being 25x more powerful of an antioxidant than vitamin E. This is misleading in the sense that the study actually used a green tea supplement, which was equivalent to drinking 4-5 green teas.
Overall, the book was okay. I did learn a couple things, but I think there are probably more researched books about fasting out there.
Simple explanations on partial fasting and how it is linked to Biblical references. Shortly in the book is the authors plan for procedures of fasting, foods and other informative information.
