The Rooftop Crew #1

My Bestie's Ex

Rate this book
I can’t borrow him.
He’s not a sweater or a skirt.
He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.

In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.

To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.

Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Piper and Rayne are writing goddesses. They have gifted us with a great group of friends and I cannot wait to get to know each of them better. This is Blanca and Ethan's story.

This book, and I will guess this entire series based on the first book, is a bit heavier then the last few books Piper and Rayne have written. This doesn't have the lighthearted feel of the Bailey series but it's not something that will gut you either. It's deep, intense at times, but there is a lightness weaved into it so I didn't feel the need for tissues.

What a good time this read turned out to be! I mean even the conflict of the story was fun to read (obviously because it wasn’t my conflict LOLOL).

I’ve loved this author duo from the moment I read my first book by them years ago and my live is still strong! They know how to bring you a feel-good story with a curveball that will honest to goodness make you smile thru the entire thing. These are not moments where you smile. The story is a huge smile. *happy sigh* I just love them!

My Bestie's Ex is the first book in a new series by Piper Rayne, and if the rest are even half as good The Rooftop Crew will be my new favorite series!

For anyone who has read the White Collar Brothers series, you've gotten glimpses of Blanca Mancini. We now have her story, and it's even better than I hoped. Also, if you thought her brothers were hot just wait - I have a serious girl crush on her right now! Confident & sexy but still reserved, Blanca is going after what she wants and starting a new life for herself. New town, new job, new friends - and a hot coworker she's insanely attracted to.

Ethan is working his way towards his dream career in journalism, and won't let anything get in his way. Especially the new writer his magazine just hired to write opposite him. But even his rule of never dating a coworker can't stop the pull between them, and no matter how hard he tries he can't deny how much he wants Blanca.

He kisses like he banters. A little bit of flirting and teasing with a heavy dose of swagg3er that some might misinterpret as arrogance.

I can't even begin to explain how much I adored these characters! They had off the charts chemistry, the kind even I could feel through the pages. I couldn't get enough of their flirty banter, and I devoured their story. It's fun and sexy, with plenty of laugh out loud moments weaved in seamlessly with panty-melting ones.

And even better than my new favorite couple? Their friends! Piper Rayne flawlessly made me fall in love with Ethan & Blanca, while also building up the excitement for the rest of the series. This new crew is amazing, and I am so intrigued and ready for each of their stories!

Do you ever read books that just slightly don't work for you? But you try to justify it to yourself because you like the author? This was one of those books for me. I wanted to like it and I tried to justify the characters behaviours I didn't like but in the end I just had to give it up.

I liked Blanca ………. for a while. She was this strong, independent young lady who quit the job she hated to chase her dreams. She reconnected with a childhood friend and was living the life she wanted. Then she just annoyed me with her weak choices when it came to Ethan.

The first meeting between Blanca and Ethan was great and I felt the instant attraction. But I wanted him to be less wishy washy. Because omg did he run hot and cold worse than a teenage girl and I wanted my own set of rusty scissors. He drove me nuts and Blanca was just too accommodating for a woman with a backbone.

But all that said, it's Piper Rayne and the writing was good. The next book is so well set up and I am really excited to read it. This one just wasn't the one for me.

So for the sake of full disclosure here, I'm going to tell you a little bit about my frame of mind when I started reading My Bestie's Ex. I had JUST finished reading a novel full of depth and heavy emotion and a ton of detail and when I picked up this Piper Rayne book. I was a little worried I might struggle with getting into it because I had a feeling it'd be more on the lighter side than the book I'd just read. (I don't know about you but sometimes shifting gears between books can be hard if you're a mood reader dealing with a major book hangover.) Well let me just say that THIS BOOK was exactly what I needed, the perfect hangover cure!! This deliciously addictive forbidden romance was fun and sexy and wildly entertaining and it swept me right up in the complicated dynamic surrounding Ethan and Blanca!!!

This book was seriously SO MUCH FUN to read. But the finicky reader that I am also longs for angst and push and pull and some bumps in my reading experience. Well Piper Rayne came to play with My Bestie's Ex and delivered a story that was rife with complications and was perfectly peppered with just the right amount of angsty goodness. This isn't just a forbidden romance about a woman discovering she may have just fell for the guy her best friend dated. There's also a complicated workplace dynamic here that adds another layer of difficulty and strife to what was already a problematic situation. Toss in some personal baggage and a hero that doesn't always say the right things at the right times and it all made for such an addictive storyline. I could not get enough!

I devoured this book and when I finished, I immediately preordered every single book in this new series. The Rooftop Crew is shaping up to be a fun, entertaining, sexy series with a captivating cast of characters and a good dose of humor and heartache. This is so my jam and I'm beyond excited to see what's to come for every character in this book. The tiny taste of this circle of friends and the potential for their future romances that Piper Rayne just offered up has me desperately ravenous for another bite!

I really liked this kick-off to a new series by Piper Rayne. It's a spin-off of the Blue Collar Heroes series, and My Bestie's Ex starts with the little sister of the Mancini brothers.

There's an immediate connection with Blanca and Ethan, from the moment that they meet on the train one Sunday night. The chance meeting has an effect on both of them, so they are both wildly disappointed to discover the next morning that Blanca is Ethan's new co-worker. Ethan has some commitment issues, some anger issues stemming from his family, so he really waffles on whether or not to even date Blanca. And after lots of mixed signals and hot and cold behavior, Blanca puts him in his place, refusing to be a doormat if he doesn't want to take a chance.

The little bubble that Ethan and Blanca are living in come crashing down when they discover that the childhood best friend she recently reconnected with and is living with is Ethan's ex. There's no breaking of girl code, since Blanca'd never met him and the rest of the crew calls him Sigmund. It all blows up in their faces, of course, when pal Dylan pieces it all together, and there's a lot of great conversations that come out of the revelation. A lot of honest conversations are had by all three parties.

I really loved how mature they all were about it. I really loved the connection between Ethan and Blanca. Once he got over things and committed to her, he opens up his heart and their connection jumped off the page.

There are some hysterical appearances by Blanca's older brothers and their women, for fans who read the Blue Collar series, but not enough that I felt lost for not having read those three books. I can't wait to see what comes next for the Rooftop Crew, expecially Dylan and Rian!! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

The title is pretty much self-explanatory when it comes to the plot… but in their defense, Blanca and Ethan really didn’t know. Blanca was childhood friends with Sierra (Ethan’s ex) and they haven’t been in touch for a while and only recently reconnected so that explains a part of this situation.

From Blanca and Ethan’s first meeting something tugs at their hearts but the next time they meet was when Blanca gets a job where Ethan works. The attraction remains, but they begin as friends and co-workers before things progress.

As for Blanca, seeing her brothers fall inlove affected her views on love so she didn’t want anything half-assed. Just like her, I was getting annoyed every time Ethan would run hot-or-cold and wasn’t being as straightforward as Blanca.

I enjoyed the friend group the most in this book. The scenes when they're all together were so fun. I love that there are already little hints for the next three books!! It gets me so excited.

Also: this is a spin-off to the Blue Collar Heroes series. You don’t have to read it before this (I haven’t yet) but if you have, I think you’d have more appreciation for the scenes in this book with Blanca’s brothers.

My Bestie’s Ex was the first book in the Rooftop Crew series by the authors Piper Rayne.

Blanca Mancini was the baby sister to the Mancini brothers from The White Collar series. Although, it was not necessary to have read that series first. She had a career in banking and realized she was still young enough to change directions and start doing something she loved versus staying in a career simply for the security. She quit, got a new job as a writer and reconnected with her childhood friend as her roommate. Along the way, she met the man of her dreams, her co-worker Ethan Ryland, and life was good, until it wasn’t.

Generally I don’t recommend reading a series out of order - and I don’t here. However, I’m glad I accidentally read Sierra’s story, book two, A Royal Mistake, before I read this one. Thankfully they can be read as stand-alones so I didn’t miss much, but it allowed me to see Sierra in a different light so that I could focus on Blanca and Ethan.

In the end, it was a fun and quick read. As expected, humor was at the forefront and the bonds between “the Rooftop Crew” were entertaining and amusing. I enjoyed the storyline as well as the characters. Since I’ve already read book two (which I loved), it’s time to dig into book three, The Rival Roomies, and I can’t wait!

I can’t get enough of Piper Rayne and this new series started off with a bang! Blanca Mancini, who was previous introduced in the White Collar Series (which involved her 3 charming older brothers), is getting the story she deserves with a few surprise appearances from her protective older brothers.

Blanca left her secure job in pursuit of her own happiness when she runs into her former childhood best friends who offers her a fresh start in a new town outside of the city. I loved Blanca from the moment she was introduced and loved her even more the more we got to know about her throughout this story. Ethan hasn’t had an easy year, between break up and dealing with some family things and working a job he just isn’t happy with, but it pays the bills.

From the moment Blanca and Ethan met there was a connection, chemistry. They were both drawn to each other, despite being complete strangers. I loved the easy going feeling of their relationship and their banter was hilarious. They played so well off each other. Now, the Rooftop Crew themselves, I LOVE them all. They are all different, but have formed their own mini family together and all bring something different to the crew. I can’t wait to see what is in store for all of them!

My Bestie’s Ex is a MUST READ and another hit from Piper Rayne!

This book was such a let down. I wanted to like it but it was so lackluster. I was going to read the series because I saw that it got better I’m the other books but I’m having second thoughts. It’s just too normal for me and the characters are just so average. Nothing special.

My Bestie's Ex kicks off a new series from Piper Rayne. As a fan of this author duo I had previously been introduced to Blanca in the last series. I loved the guys of the White Collar Brothers series and was excited for their little sister to get a book. And now that I've gotten it I found that I liked it.

I liked the way that this book was a combination of romance tropes. It was a best friend's ex book as was clear from the title, but also a work place romance. I liked the way the best friend's ex aspect was handled as far as their intro and initial getting to know each other. I also liked the banter and chemistry that came from their working relationship.

While I can't say that this book is my favorite of Piper Rayne's books, it was still really well written and had good characters. Overall it was pretty good and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up their next book.

If I had to hear one more time about the heroines older Brothers or being Italian, I was going to lose it. I get it..she’s tough because she’s the younger sister of 3 older brothers and loves certain foods and has certain mannerisms because of her Italian heritage. I can’t stand when I’m hit over the head with little details that honestly, mentioned once or twice and I’m smart enough to understand on my own.

Aside from that rant, this wasn’t bad. 2 people meet on a train, begin working together and form a relationship. You know the title so you know that the guy is obviously the ex of the heroines best friend and there is tons of mention about this horrible ex throughout the book but the authors choose to build up and focus on their relationship so you’re invested and rooting for them when the walls come crashing down and the secret is out.

I have a feeling that Piper Rayne can do nothing wrong while it comes to writing a steamy, sweet and intense romance. And they proved me right again in My Bestie's Ex. This is whole new world with the same amazing feels. Their writing magic never gets old. Adorable and lovable characters. Incredible chemistry. And a full package of entertaining, butterflies-in-stomach, sexy, funny and honest emotions.

This series is giving me a bit more intense and angsty vibe than The Baileys and I am loving the extra edge! This series is related to the Mancini brothers but you can read it without reading that series. I personally loved meeting those gorgeous men again! This is the story of their youngest sibling and only sister Blanca. She has left the lifeless and boring job in Finance and moved to Cliffton Heights to work in a small magazine called Mars and Venus. Her estranged best friend Sierra has helped her and they are rooming together. She meets Ethan on an interesting train journey and later finds out he is her co worker. They have sparks flying since day one and Ethan slowly opens his brooding self to Blanca. Till the fairytale comes to a screeching halt as they find out Ethan is Sierra's ex.

Ethan has my heart and soul in his virtual hands. All the swooning, sighing and crying cannot express my love for him. He is charming, he is sexy and he has a golden sense of humor. But he is also a bit broken, with vulnerability, sadness , anger and sufferings. And I love him whole. Blanca is the perfect person for him. She is sweet, kind and a heart bigger than ocean. But she also never backs down from challenges including making Ethan happy. I absolutely admire her for thinking about her friend first even if Sierra did not handle it properly. Their chemistry is so amazing! The heartbreak and desolation only intensified their longing and attraction. You will find Piper Rayne's special brand of humor that will make you double in laughter. But I loved the intensity of emotions even more. And I am already hooked to the Rooftop Crew and I cannot wait to read more.

Piper Rayne made me laugh, swoon and cry with the brilliant feelings in My Bestie's Ex. I am falling a bit more in love with their storytelling in each new story.

Holy Sweetness Overload Batman!! I absolutely positively fell head over heels in love with Ethan and Blanca’s story. The title of this story makes it super intriguing in and of itself…I mean come on My Bestie’s Ex! We all know that’s a big NO, NO!!

Right?! This is the first book in a new series of stand-alones called the Rooftop Crew. So here we have this gorgeously curvy Italian bombshell who meets an amazingly hot guy on the Sunday night train. He seemed perfect, the situation was like out of a movie, they had an instant connection, almost kismet. Well except for just a couple of minor details, dating faux pas if you will. Each of which alone could be deal breakers by themselves, but alas they were pulling dating deal breaker doubles. BUT I LOVED THEM ANYWAY!!

Blanca just had a really horrible day. When she runs into an old friend, Sierra, they are able to quickly reconnect and the catastrophe that was her current situation starts to look up. She moved out of the city to the smallish suburb of Clifton Heights and quickly immersed herself into Sierra’s small group of friends know as the “Rooftop Crew.” BTW I love this crew of friends! They are FABULOUS!

When she went home to visit her family for their standing Sunday dinner she couldn’t have prepared for the connection she would form with the hottie on the train. They were flirtatious and fun. She’s sassy and sweet and fun-loving but she sees what her brothers have found and she wants that, she can almost picture dreams of that with Ethan from the train.

Ethan is this funny, gorgeous guy but he’s hiding big parts of his life from those around him. He won’t allow himself to get close to others. So when he walks on Monday morning to find the bombshell he was falling for on the train is his new coworker, he knows immediately he will shut down any shot they did have at dating.

The chemistry between these two is off the chain. They are hot, they are hilarious, their chemistry is combustible. The back and forth with these two about gives you whiplash but that’s part of what makes it so amazing. This story was the perfect blend of sweet and swoony but flaming hot and delicious. There was this magical balance of just the amount of frustration and angst I’m looking for, I call it a sweet spot. It's great for your soul, y'all!

It keeps you interested and engaged. There was not a dull moment in this book. I was never tempted to skip ahead. It kept me from page one and I flew through it anyway because I had to know what was happening from one page to the next. From Ethan to Blanca, to the rooftop crew, to Blanca’s brothers. You have an entire cast of secondary characters that add even more humor and charm and tons of giggles.

So you’ve been warned. If you are looking for a little bit lighter of a read with just a little bit of frustration and angst thrown in, this is the perfect book for you!

My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ 1/2 stars - Ethan and Blanca are wonderful characters, they were not perfect and both had some stuff they needed to work though, but together they were great. The Rooftop crew are an amazing group (one took me longer to come around to, but imma a fan now 😉) and I love what they each bring to the story. Each person is totally unique and I can’t wait for the magic that I know will be brought in each of their stories. So start this series today!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥- I’m gonna call him edible Ethan, because he is so darn delicious!! The scenes were super hot, yet sweet at the same time So pretty much perfection!! 🔥😍🔥
🌪Cliffhanger Warning- OMG!! This is the #HappyEnding we all want lol 😍♥️😍

I am loving the rooftop crew, what a fun group of characters Piper and Rayne have created! Blanca, her roomies, and the guys across the hall- they make me want to hop a train and move to Clifton Heights.
After meeting Blance in her brothers series I knew I wanted the girl to get her own hea- she deserved it after putting up with those fellas! I like how strong and fiesty she is, able to hold her own against all that Italian testosterone. In My Bestie's Ex she's making a new start for herself after reconnecting with her childhood best friend.
One fateful train ride introduces her to Ethan and an instant connection is forged. I really liked these 2 together. They had great chemistry and you could tell how much they enjoyed each other. Ethan, as charming as he was, was a bit of a hard nut to crack at first- a little hot and cold which became a bit frustrating, and not just for Blanca. But when we finally realize why, it made a lot more sense and I was actually sad for him.

As the title suggests, Ethan's a lot more than just a hot stranger on the train. But by the time he and Blanca realize just who he is, in relation to her best friend, they're both too far gone to turn back. Although bestie did her best to play the sisters before misters card and caused some heartache for our couple. That irritated me a bit, if I'm being honest. I did try to put myself in her shoes, so I guess I can kind of understand where she was coming from. But I'm glad Ethan wasn't having it and made a stand for his woman, with a little help from his friends.

This was such an entertaining start to the Rooftop Crew series. I can't wait for the rest of the crew to get their books!

Some books are special from the first page, from the moment you are are introduced to characters and from the moment you realise these are people you can connect with, well this book is all of those things and so much more, it captivated me, it had me hooked and I loved the friendships and the banter the characters shared in this new series The Rooftop Crew.
What can you say about Bianca Mancini that hasn’t been said before well we have meet her in previous books but now it’s time for her to get her own story and what a story she has to tell and let me tell you all I’m sure by the end of her tale you will all be wishing she was your best friend. Bianca needs a fresh start so she decides to move to a small town to start over, a new job and a new home may just be what is needed but what about a new man ......
Ethan travels back to New York every Sunday and it’s on one of those trips that he meets Bianca, the chemistry is sizzling the banter is witty and truth be told they never expected to meet again.... the last thing either of them expected was to be co-workers .......
This story has a lot more to it than two co-workers falling for each other and the path to true love can sometimes be a bumpy road with a few twists and turns along the way in fact nothing in this book is predictable and that’s one of the things I loved about it. The story is entertaining, the characters are adorable and I loved the laugh out loud moments as well as the holding my breath while swooning moments, I loved it all and if this book is anything to go by Piper Rayne will have another hit series.
I really can’t wait to see where we are taken with the next book in The Rooftop Crew Series.

Meeting The Rooftop Crew was like meeting my own set of friends as they’re a colorful and tight-knit group who’ve recently added one new member to their crew as a young woman decides to start over with a new job and a new place to live. She also starts off with an unexpected romance with the stranger she met on the train and who has a surprising past with her roommate that leads to all sorts of complications and hard truths.

Readers got to know a bit about Blanca Mancini when Ms. Payne shared her three brother’s stories in a previous trilogy that charmed readers and showed the close connection these siblings have. While Blanca loves her family and appreciates their protectiveness, she’s ready to go out on her own. After quitting her job it’s a fortuitous meeting with her one—time friend that has her moving into the apartment complex inhabited by The Rooftop Crew which brings her new friends and a support system that feels like family. It also brings her a bit of heartache once she discovers that her new love is the ex-boyfriend of her roommate which has her making a difficult and frustrating decision. Blanca’s an immensely appealing heroine with a big heart. Her and her friend pick up right where they left off all those years ago and I admired how good of a friend she was when her heart was put on the line. She’s a smart and sassy heroine, giving as good as she got, and I enjoyed the fun and flirty interactions between her and Ethan. She and Ethan were crackling together and though they came from very different families they felt perfect together. Throughout most of the story they put a smile on my face but a small hiccup late in the story had me wanting to scream but happy that things were resolved quickly.

Ethan had a rough childhood, one where he ended up being the man of the house at an early age and sacrificing much for his sister, while his mother worked endlessly and his father drank. He’s risen above all that though, ready to leave his mark on the world, and is a bit embarrassed by his past which he keeps hidden. It makes him seem closed-off when it comes to getting closer to others and doomed his previous relationship with Sierra. Blanca’s different though and from the moment they meet there’s a definite sizzle. Fun and flirty interactions soon lead to more as they both start envisioning a future together...at least until his true identity comes out and Sierra offers an ultimatum. Ethan’s a true charmer, a great cook and kisser, who’s quick to form connections with his fellow train passengers. He’s funny but clearly has anger over his father’s past actions and current prognosis and I just wanted to hug him. When it came time to fight for Blanca he did just that in scenes where he endeared himself to her brothers while finally dealing with Sierra once and for all after her constant trash talk of him. He manned-up and it had me cheering him on every step of the way.

This was a quick and entertaining romance of coworkers who take a crackling journey to HEA. Their interactions put a smile on my face while providing a blush or two along the way courtesy of Ethan’s shameless flirtations. Add in the complication of his and Sierra’s past and readers will find bits of frustration here too that put Sierra in a bad light in my opinion. Along with a likable main couple who are delightful together, with a romance worth fighting for, comes an equally memorable cast of secondary characters. First up are Blanca’s brothers whose stories were told in The White Collar Brothers series where readers first fell in love with them and I enjoyed getting an update on each as they were all still in love with their well-matched heroines. When it came to The Rooftop Crew I found myself drawn to almost all of them. I could see myself in good girl Rian and am hoping that bad boy Dylan notices her obvious feelings for him soon. Then there’s bagel boy Seth and his war with another bagel maker that I hope to see play out soon. Add in police officer Knox, who’s quietly commanding, and I have yet another reason to look forward to the future. The one weak link for me was Sierra. I found her a bit manipulative when it came to Blanca trying to be a good friend and as she tried to look like a victim with her feelings of abandonment that have her flitting from one guy to another. When it came to Ethan she made him out to be the bad guy when it was her who was equally at fault. Her obsession with a foreign prince feels a bit over-the-top too but it fuels the next book in this series and is definitely a unique set-up for romance. Readers looking for witty banter and sweet and sensual encounters will want to grab this series as The Rooftop Crew starts to feel more like family.

My Bestie's Ex is a very sweet with mild angst NA read that starts off this series in the right direction.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It is a forbidden romance but neither Bianca nor Ethan are aware of who the other is or how they are tethered by friendships. However, they are also co-workers and that throws in another stumbling block for them as Ethan has made it purpose to keep work and personal life separate.

Piper Rayne does a great job of writing this entertaining story riffled with a lot conflicting feelings. Bianca has older brothers who are quite protective of her so she knows how to hold her own and has no problems saying what's on her mind. Ethan has some personal issues that he is still working through and doesn't want that to mingle in with this new budding relationship.

My Bestie's Ex sets the scene for future books in this series and Piper Rayne introduced everyone brilliantly throughout the story. I enjoyed the banter and interactions between all characters as that really sets the tone for everything. This story has the perfect blend of angst and humor with the right touch of NA romance added in.

The title tells you what the story is about.

Blanca and Ethan meet by chance, and they have an instant to connection. This only to find out that they work together and Ethan has rule about dating co-workers.

Finally he comes around. Isn't it sad that I had to say he came around given that he was attracted to her, but was fighting what he desired. I understand his hesitance, but during this period he was sending mixed signals out the butt. As a matter of fact, I didn't like him much at all.

They finally start to explore, and then BOOM! Ethan is her best friend's ex.

Girl code comes into play and Sierra doesn't make it easy on Blanca. She uses that to manipulate the situation.

I'm loving this crew though, and can't wait to see what's in store for the other members.

5 Stars!

Piper Rayne is back with a brand new series and a brand new romance and a brand new cast of characters (hello to a tie in the White Collar Brothers series!!) to fall head over heels in love with... and I 👏 AM 👏 HERE 👏 FOR 👏 IT 👏! I adore these ladies and the stories they tell and I can already this is gonna be such a good series.

My Bestie's Ex (can you already tell where they are going with this? I bet they'll still keep you on your toes.) was an amazing friends/coworkers-to-lovers, second chance, forbidden romance of sorts that ticked off all of the boxes when it comes to my expectations for this duo and even surpassed it when it came to Blanca and Ethan's story. All the feels y'all and so much everything when it came to these two.

A wee bit complicated in moments, packed with soooo much undeniable chemistry and heart between Blanca and Ethan, and an unforgettable, unputdownable journey that'll tear at your heart at times and have you flipping fast through the pages from start to finish... this standalone book is an absolute most read.

This is the best way to try this author if you haven't yet... diving into a brand spanking new series. Seriously all the laughs, swoon, heat, and heart when it comes to a Piper Rayne romance.

I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book in a new series by this fantastic writing duo! From the very start I knew that I was going to love this book. The Roof Top Crew is close group of friends who spend most of their free time together. They just added a now friend to the crew and she fits in perfectly!!

Blanca Mancini just quit her job in the finance world and wants to explore her true passion, which is writing. Wen she run into her. childhood best friend she finds herself with a new job, a new plan to live and her best friend is back in her life. On the way home from Sunday dinner with her family, she meets this gorgeous man who she hopes to run into again. From the moment he sat next to her on the train, the attraction was felt and these two talked like they had been old friends. It wasn't until her first day that she find outs they will actually be working together.

Ethan is completely taken with Blanca from the moment that he met her. But she he finds out that will be working together it seems that any chance of dating her has gone out the window. Ethan is not one to mix work with pleasure. He has rules and he is not sure he wants to break them. Well that is until he realizes how much he likes her and cannot stop thinking about her. But the plot thickens because just as they find themselves exactly where they both want to be, they find out that there is an even bigger obstacle in their way. Ethan is her best friend's ex. Will she give up her best friend for love?

I really enjoyed this book. What I loved the most was the characters and the tight knit group that they had. I felt like I was a part of their little circle, and honestly feeling very close to my friendships when I was their age. I loved the dynamic between the characters. But it was also Ethan and Blanca that made me love this book. They were sweet together, between the back and forth banter and the ease and comfort that they felt from the start.

This book is a fun, quick read with very little angst. I do think that the solution in the end happened a little too easily, but regardless I still loved it. The best part was also getting to see the Mancini brothers from Piper Rayne's White Collar series. I cannot wait for the next one.

Loved the chemistry between these two! Falling for the right guy at the wrong time leads to heartache in this light and sexy rom com. There's a whole lot that I loved about this one - the characters are easy to root for, the dialogue is plentiful, and the overall tone is light and sweet with hints of sexy. Though I would've liked a little less back and forth - especially prior to discovering the biggest obstacle in their path to happiness - there isn't much that I didn't like about this book. It's a solid start to a new series but easily stands on its own, and has me ready to keep reading about this group of friends.

The story follows Blanca, a woman getting a fresh start in a new town. After recently reconnecting with her childhood bestie, they become roommates and a part of each other's lives again. On her first day in town, Blanca meets a sexy stranger and they share an immediate connection that's easy and unique. Unfortunately, Ethan is Blanca's new coworker, and he has a firm rule against dating women he works with - especially considering how much his last breakup affected him. As the two get closer, they struggle to stay platonic... not realizing that Blanca's bestie may shatter everything they've built.

This one had me hooked from the start - it's got such an easy and light feel that it was a bright spot in my day. I love the concept of two strangers meeting and falling for each other without realizing that there's trouble in their future. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars from me is because I wanted the relationship to be stronger before the bestie came into the picture. Ethan ran hot and cold so much that things were already a little shaky prior to adding in the ex element, so that's where this falters for me. That being said, it didn't diminish my enjoyment and I'm looking forward to more from the series. I'm not sure how Piper Rayne will get me to like Blanca's bestie in the next book (she is definitely not likable in this), but they know they have an uphill battle ahead of them so I'm excited to see how that all plays out. I received an ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sweet and sexy read.

We all know that friends come before boy/girl friends. It’s the unwritten rule. We do not go where our best friends have already been. We know this and in most cases we 100% agree. But what happens when you meet someone, you have an instant connection and you really want to see where it goes but then you realise your best friend has already been there? Do you risk your friendship or do you call time on what could turn out to be your everything?

Blanca isn’t happy with her job so after deciding to quit, her life’s a little up in the air. Which makes it even more special when on her last day at work she bumps into her old childhood friend Sierra after not seeing her for years. When Sierra offers her the chance to move from Manhattan to Cliffton Heights and share an apartment with Seirra, Blanca jumps at the chance to rekindle their friendship. A chance meeting introduces Blanca to a guy who instantly has her attention and as things progress it becomes clear that things are not going to be as easy as she’d hoped. Her new man has secrets and some issues he’s trying to work through but he’s surprisingly easy to like.

I’m a huge fan of these authors work and having read their previous books I’d already ‘met’ Blanca in their White Collar series. She’s a great character and after reading her book I think I love her even more. Her story is the first in Piper Raynes new Rooftop Crew series and I can’t wait to get the others stories (especially Dylan. I need this guys book badly). Another good book from this duo that gets this new series off to a great start

Book One in an exciting new series from Piper Rayne and if My Bestie's Ex is anything to go by this will be another fabulous series. Whenever I see the name Piper Rayne, I know I am in for an entertaining read and My Bestie's Ex was no exception. This one had me hooked from the start. It has such an easy, light feel and I loved the concept of two strangers meeting and falling for each other without realizing that there's trouble in the horizon.

I adored Blanca and Ethan! They had off the charts chemistry, the kind I could feel burning through the pages. I couldn't get enough of their flirty banter, and I devoured their story. It's fun and sexy, with plenty of laugh out loud moments weaved in seamlessly with hot ones. Piper Rayne worked their usual magic and gave us the ending we wanted but not without a little angst along the way. It was also great fun catching up with the Mancini brothers and their significant others as well.

I am so excited for more from The Rooftop Crew series! This book introduced some fantastic characters who already have some romance brewing of their own. Blanca and Ethan's story has definitely set the precedent for another fun and sexy series that I’m definitely looking forward to from the highly talented Piper Rayne.
