This being one of those days when I only have half a brain, I won’t attempt to do a detailed review. My thoughts are if you like light novels, there is no reason why you won’t enjoy this book. There are the usual tropes from Japanese light novels, but with interesting North American twists. Most interesting is that the tropes are turned upside down with a “hero” who is discarded for lacking physical prowess. Even more interesting is that the refreshing premise does not fade away after the first chapter (making way for a trope carnival as is the norm with many light novels). Instead, the limitations of the main character continue throughout the story. I honestly did not expect much when reading my first Original English Light Novel, but Solis is a good writer, and this is a good story. Fun, escapist fiction. Now onto book two!

A fantasy isekai with a refreshing twist, One-Two-Five finds the main character underpowered but unwilling to accept the classification system imposed upon him by the new world he is summoned to.

The book chooses to introduce us to a small cast of characters and focus on creating real depth instead of flooding us with tropes that are typical of anime-esque stories. I felt genuinely invested in the main characters fight against being lumped into some generic category and I grabbed Volume 2 of the series within minutes of finishing this book because it left me wanting more.

Pretty Good Setup

So this book was backed on kickstarter. On the page he said the funds would go to editing and proofreading. Well he should get his money back because there were plenty of typos.

The pacing was good. The story was also different from the typical isekai LN and that's never a bad thing. The writer's personality definitely showed in his writing which I love. There was character development which you never see in book one. I'm going to read book two. This was a decent setup.
