To force him to sign her contract, the Devil imprisons a fallen angel.
But he has an escape plan.
Despite once being the Greek underworld, Tartarus is now the Devil's prison. She jails there whomever she pleases, mostly gods, demigods, mages, werewolves, and now also me, Lucas.
No one has ever escaped, so I'll be first. My escape plan is utterly sane, involving Loki, Sun Wukong, an insider in the Upper Prison, a woman I've never met, a former friend I arrested, and my memory loss.
Since the Devil needs me alive, the prison's overseer, Hades, cannot kill me. That turns the escape into an elaborate game where everyone is someone's hostage. As we fight, the corpses keep piling up and the prison starts crumbling from collateral damage.
And so the Devil sends her right hand to clean things up.
The story was pretty good. I was honestly mostly annoyed by the outcome. I mean destroying the place for a break and going through 200 pages of different scenarios only for him to cave at the end was a let down. I get that this was probably the best way for the author to continue the series, but the part of me that likes for the protagonist to overcome odds and win was seriously let down.
In this installment, Lucas reveals that he is a crazy strategist. He masterminds an escape from Tul Sar Naar which has never had a prisoner escape. Although the book is a little slow when Lucas' strategy is revealed it will be worth the wait. He was simply awesome. On to the next book. Thanks Mr. Green
The first two books were terrific. The devil is female and more powerful than Hades. Lucifer is just a fallen Angel in a human body. A different twist on how we view gods, but the action is fantastic and storyline sound. Good urban fantasy.
This third book in the Lucas Johnson series definitely showcases the author’s improving ability to establishing his own unique voice in the genre. He started as a talented author, who has now built on his strengths and eliminated some of his weaknesses. Thomas Green is certainly someone to follow on his journey as a writer.
Lucas has been in Tul Sar Naar, the prison that houses criminals with magic abilities, for several months now. He has formed a few alliances, one with his cellmate, Loki. Everything Lucas has done since entering this prison is leading to one goal. Lucas intends to be the first prisoner ever to escape from Tul Sar Naar.
Lucielle, also known as the Devil, owns the prison. Before his internment she affirmed the rumor that anyone to escape and make it to land would be pardoned of their crimes. With the death toll attributed to Lucas, this escape clause is his only hope for true freedom. And Lucas needs his freedom. He made a promise to the woman he loves to return to her within a year’s time, and Lucas keeps his promises.
But Lucas has more enemies here than friends. In just the previous year he was responsible for the arrest of over seventy of his fellow inmates. Will the few people he trusts be enough to defeat their foes amongst their peers and the prison’s management team? How many will have to die in his attempts? Will Lucas ever make it home to Evelyn? Will he gain his freedom or end up selling his soul and all his lifetimes to the Devil?
Well, I have to say that this story did not disappoint. For the record, I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book with the request to leave an honest review for other potential readers. So, here is my review. Lucas is just as damaging and destructive as he was in the first book. I try not to put spoilers in my reviews (this doesn't count as a spoiler since, if you read the first book, you know as well as I do that this is to be expected) we all know that this is a major part of his character. The plot here is excellent. Plans within plans within plans. Twists and turns abound. So it definitely earns the 1st star. The characters, what can I say? There are just too many incredible characters to mention. The variety and make up of the cast of characters lead to some pretty incredible action. It has justly earned the 2nd star. The writing is great and easy to read. A few minor typos and such but it doesn't interfere with relating the story. The 3rd star is warranted. The pacing of the story is phenomenal. The action is non stop from beginning to end. So the 4th star is definitely due. The all encompassing question of whether or not the book is well worth the time to read it? The answer is yes, yes and again yes. Thus I award the 5th star. I can't wait to read the next one.

Thomas Green had given us a mind-blowing view of his creativity with the world-building of Tartarus in “Infernal Contract”. The characters are authentic and relatable. This fast-paced tale has a gripping and exhilarating plot that has you so intrigued. I was hooked from the first page until the last one. There is so much going on in this story, and lots of different layers that holds your interest until the end. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next from this author. This book was awesome to read! I couldn’t put it down! I read it start to finish in one sitting!! The way the characters evolved from the first book to this one was smooth. There are twists and turns and a LOT of things that I didn’t expect that just made this book even better! A must read!
This is a different fantasy novel because of where it’s set. But very good nonetheless. Gods, werewolves, magic etc, etc what not to like. Another author added to my must read list. Highly recommended
