She’s an investigative journalist with a heartbreaking past. He’s the badass PI who has her in his sights.
When Phoebe Danvers’s job lands her in danger, local badass and ex-FBI agent turned PI Huxley Carson steps in to save her. The only problem with that is she doesn’t want to be saved. She wants to be left alone to focus on work. Unfortunately, Huxley is determined to help, so she settles on keeping him at arm’s length—something he’s determined not to let her do.
What Phoebe doesn’t know is Huxley has been interested in her for years but never had a way in until now. With the push and pull of their new relationship and danger drawing closer, Phoebe begins to wonder if it’s time to surrender to the man consuming her soul.
Hope Jones is the wife of her very own alpha male and the mother of four beautiful daughters. She lives in a small town in South Carolina, but was born in Brunswick, GA. She's always had a love for reading, even at a young age thrillers always interested her. As she got older, romance mixed with some thriller/suspense became her obsession. If you can't find Hope glued to her Kindle, you'll usually find her chasing her girls around, running her hectic household, and plotting stories for the alpha men that have taken over her mind.
After reading the last book from this author I knew she writes the kind of characters I love so when this one became available I jumped on in. And I did like the characters. I liked the story. It was well written and I enjoyed the suspense of trying to figure out what was going to happen.
I got nervous as we got closer to the end that it was all already wrapped up but I was already invested enough to be ok with just getting the happily ever after and hopefully a teaser for some of the other characters. Because this seriously has to become a series for these PI boys.
Phoebe was great. She went toe to toe with Huxley every time he did the whole alpha chest beating thing. And I loved that he was soft enough with her to stop and explain why he was being overbearing. I also loved that every time it came from such a real place and that once Phoebe saw that she would let it go. A few times I thought he owed a lot more explaining even if I did get where he was coming from.
I had a few issues with the start of their relationship. It felt like it started without any real substance. And I didn't feel their initial connection. Which took me a bit to get over but since I liked them together so much I let it go and fell into the story. I also loved the secondary characters and I am praying this is the first book in a series.
I just can't with this. They see each other around for two years but don't talk. Then he barges into her interview, literally throws her over his shoulder, handcuffs her to the car and locks her in his office. Then he takes her to his house, changes her clothes and climbs in bed with her, all while she is sleeping. Wtf there is more but I'm not wasting any more time complaining
OH MY GOODNESS! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! SHE DID IT AGAIN! 😍😍😍😍😍
Hope Jones has done it again, giving me a beautiful, swoony, unforgettable, unputdownable romance with this brand spanking new book. She created the PERFECT couple Huxley and Phoebe, an OTT alpha male that makes the perfect book boyfriend and one heroine you'll be crushing so very haaaaaard on right from when you first meet her.
Hope delivered all the best words in her debut book last year and just like then, I've got another favorite from her.
Surrendering to Him is a standalone romance that was sexy, sweet, swoony, steamy, and a touch suspenseful at times. It's a fast-paced romance, you won't be able put down once you start (guilty as charged!)... that was packed with all of the best feels, seized my heart in many, many moments, had me squirming in my seat from all the steamy heat, and left me wanting soooooo. much. more.
If this is the kind of writing and authors BOOM Publishing is putting out, sign me up every single time! New-ish author Hope Jones has found her knack in her genre and I hope she never stops writing books like the two she's written and released.
Surrendering to Him by Hope Jones is Huxley Carson and Phoebe Danvers's story. Wow! What a truly fascinating and fabulous read! This is a sweet, funny, heartwarming, steamy and edge your seat story that will have you going back for re-reads time and time again. Phoebe is an investigative writer for her local paper while Huxley is ex FBI and now runs his own PI firm with his own team which they currently are working to bring down a cartel that is nasty news for anyone that crosses their path. Guess who that would be ? Phoebe... this brings Huxley into her life along with the action, suspense, intrigue, passion , heat, drama, angst , huge chemistry/connection plus total feels....which means an amazing rollercoaster ride that leads to a fantastic read and a great new author to look out for. Hope Jones nailed it with her freshman book and left me with craving more...like will we get Phoebe's BFF story? I really hope so 🔖📚. This is one book you don't want to miss.
This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it It is well written kept me n the edge of my seat the characters had great depth and I was glued to until I turned that last page And what more could I ever want from a book. If I could give more than five stars I would
Huxley Carson is ex FBI and now runs his own PI firm with his own team and he is working to bring down a Cartel This cartel has also caught the eye of investigative reporter Phoebe Danvers in fact she has also caught Huxley eye and he is determined to keep her safe He warns her off the story and even hints he will give her an exclusive later but she has no intention of walking away. As they spend more time together it only increases Huxley's feelings for her and she is beginning to think that he may be the one for her but have they left it to late for their relationship and will the danger destroy them. You will have to read to see if they will survive and get the HEA they deserve
Light and easy story to read. It was okay but didn’t make me swoon or fall in love with either MC. While I generally liked Huxley and all his alpha yumminess, Phoebe, honestly, was more annoying than cute. I just feel like the characters could’ve been more fleshed out.
The scenes, dialogue, emotions, motivations, heck the story as a whole, stayed at a level that just skimmed the surface. Sigh, this had all the possibilities for more depth, more feels. Too bad it didn’t and as such it didn’t really work for me. Not that it was bad or even meh. *Shrugs.* I enjoyed it but the truth of the matter is, I’ll probably forget about the story in a month’s time. Sorry.
This is the first book that I've read by this author and I didn't know what to expect. I really liked the story line and thought that it was written awesomely.
Phoebe is a writer for the paper, well she's an investigative journalist and while good at what she does, she does take a few risks with her safety to make sure that she gets that story. When Hux tells Phoebe to not run the story as her life is in very serious danger he goes to unthinkable measures to firstly convince her and to keep her safe. She has had things quite tough in the past too but she is a strong woman because of it.
Huxley is a very sexy, very hot alpha male who has had feelings for Phoebe for a while and is very protective of her. Huxley is an ex FBI agent who works now as a PI, a very tough badass PI and works with his own team.Huxley has kind of promised Phoebe that he himself will give her an exclusive about the cartel if she doesn't run the original piece. Can these two for once put there differences aside for love ? Is Phoebe going to be able to do as she is told for her own safety ? Should they surrender to their love ? (NO SPOILERS)
I really liked these characters. Phoebe is a very determined strong willed person and totally knows her own mind. I really love how protective Hux is and you can feel there chemistry, they are so good together. Huxley knows his feelings and I was hoping love would prevail for these two. I liked this author writing style and I will look out for her work in the future. I thought the titles at the beginning of each chapters were also very cool.
I always love epilogue as I feel they always add that little something extra to books and I love seeing where everyone is.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This book is expected to be released 5th March 2020.
Totally suspenseful! Phoebe is an investigative journalist in a small town where she dominates in her field by taking risks and them paying off big time. Until her last risk, which almost gets her killed, but thanks to Huxley the local PI, is able to intercept and save her. Totally confused, Phoebe doesn’t understand what’s going on and why she can’t write her story and basically do her job, and is also just as confused by Huxley’s caveman routine especially since they weren’t together. That all changes though when they can’t fight the chemistry any longer and Huxley takes a stance and puts his feelings out there while keeping her safe. The witty banter between these characters was quite possibly the best part of this book, because starting out I really felt like I missed something and it started somewhat abruptly. Overall, the suspense pulled through and just when I thought Phoebe was safe, something else happens that drags her back in. Interested to see if we will see more books (particularly Phoebe’s best friend)! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I definitely loves certain aspects of the story, the only things holding me back from giving it a higher rating was the fact that I didn’t form a proper connection with the main character. I have also read wayyy to may cliche story’s similar to thins on Wattpad, so that definitely lowered my reading experience.
In saying this there was definitely certain aspects that I loved. The writing was done amazingly, defiantly would be good for anyone into the more soppy romance love stories with a twist!
Quotes I loved: “If only you were a different woman with a different history.”
“How could someone do strong not see their own strength?”
“He wanted her to see herself the way he saw her.”
“Oh, dear Jesus. A stray bullet had to have hit me and I’m dead right now, because I’m in a woman’s wet dream, looking at all these hot men standing around me.”

Brand new author and I loved this book. I could not put it down!
Phoebe is an investigative journalist for the local newspaper. She is investigating the local sheriff who is clearly crooked. She apparently gets herself into a little trouble as right as she is starting the interview the local P.I. Walks in and throws her over his shoulder and locks her in a room at his office.
Huxley is the local P.I. And former police officer and FBI agent. He sets his sights on Phoebe and decides she is his to protect.
I loved both of these characters and Phoebe made me laugh. If you love ARR and C.P. Smith you will enjoy this one. Definitely read it!
Huxley & Phoebe's story is FANTASTIC!!! We get a really great alpha, a strong heroine, fun friends & family... Is this going to be a series? This needs to be a series, because Hux's sister, Phoebe's best friend, and all Hux's guys need stories. NEED! <3
I loved the pacing, the adventure, the LOVE in this story. While Phoebe tries to put up a fight, she & Huxley are together for the whole story & the drama surrounding them is well written, which equals my favorite kind of story!! Two thumbs WAY up! This joins When She Remembers on my favorites & re-read shelf! : )
Holy Hot Guys Batman!! This is definitely a new author to watch. This second book by Hope Jones just reinforced my first impression of this amazing new author. Phoebe Danvers is a reporter. She has stuck her nose in the wrong business and now the bad guys are after her. Huxley Carson is a PI bound and determined to protect Phoebe whether she wants him to or not. She Has lost almost everyone she’s ever cared about so she’s afraid to open herself up to a relationship. But his kisses leave her in a Hux Fog! Huxley is a alpha to the core and I just love a hot take charge man.I got a lot of Kristen Ashley vibes from this book. I definitely want to read more about the rest of the PI team.
So I really liked this book and I'm not even sure what prompted me to read it. But I'm sure glad I did! This author's writing style reminds me (and I thought long and hard about this) of a mix between CP Smith and Bijou Hunter. If this is a debut release from this author, I can only imagine her work getting better and better from here. 4½ stars
New to me author. I loved Hux and Phoebe. The story starts off with a bang and immediately grabs your attention. Very OTT H and many swoon worthy moments. Lots of action and suspense. I hope it’s the start of a new series with secondary characters. #netgalley
‼️THE HEROINE IS A JOURNALIST AND THE HERO IS A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR Also the hero have a big business he runs...
‼️THE HERO IS A PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE Idk if he possessive or not because there’s not many jealous scene from the hero... but he only shows a lot of protectiveness to the heroine.
‼️NO CHEATING
‼️NO SEPARATION
‼️IDK IF THIS IS A LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT 😅😀 Because according to the heroine said, the hero just moved to her town for two years and then out of NOWHERE HE JUST PICKED THE HEROINE UP IN CAVEMAN WAY AND JUST SAID YOU ARE MINE. Which is confusing cause the hero as well didn’t say why he likes the heroine, if he likes her for two years or just recently... the heroine didn’t quite said he likes him since he moved in or what at first, NOTHING. So I don’t know if it’s a love in first sight😂
‼️WHEN THEY OFFICIALLY TOGETHER, THEY CAN FEEL THE PULL THAT THEY HAVE... but idk if they are feeling it for a long time or recently 😆
“He was being serious. He felt the same way about me. We both felt this unexplainable pull to each other, but he didn’t fight it. I DID. And I was going to fight like hell until he gave up.”
‼️AFTER THE HERO PICKED HER UP THEN FORCE HER TO GO WITH HIM.... HE WANTS HER SO BAD... The hero’s height is 6’4 and heroine is 5’6 and every time he speaks to her she said his sooo tall 🥺
“What we have it’s real. What’s going on between us, WHAT YOU’RE FEELING, WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FEEL, BECAUSE I’M GOING TO BE HERE. NOT GOING ANYWHERE, BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO. I like you, Phoebe.”
‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW. Only with om... but not because the om wants her se*ually but because the heroine was making a article about the om. But the heroine is saved just in time by the hero :)
‼️THE HEROINE IS A SASSY ONE for sure
‼️THE HERO IS THE MAIN PURSUER...
THE HEROINE some time PUSH THE HERO AWAY because what she’s been through and it was traumatizing for her so she pushed him away for some time. BUT NEVER TOO MUCH AND IN THE END SHE TRUST THE HERO AND HE NEVER LET HER GO...
“But I believed Huxley would be able to make my walls crumble, and I couldn’t have that.”
“There’s nothing wrong with trying to move past your fears and open yourself up.”
“I WANT TO BE HERE FOR YOU. I’M NOT WALKING OUT AND HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF DOING SO. WHATEVER IS GOING ON BETWEEN US, ITS SERIOUS, PHOEBE... I TAKE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AS SERIOUSLY AS I DO YOUR PHYSICALLY HEALTH. I need you to work through this with me, Baby...”
🥺🥺🥺
‼️HOT SMUT SCENES and both didn’t mention if they were clean or haven’t doing it for a long time or what. NO PASTS EVER MENTION.
‼️NO VIRGINS
‼️WHAT makes me give it 4 because i need a longer epilogue! IN THE END WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE HAPPY AND SAFE AND THE HERO IS GOING TO PROPOSE TO THE HEROINE... but only that 😒😂
Surrendering To Him is my first book by Hope Jones, but I was intrigued by the synopsis. I think this story has lots of potential, but didn't fully deliver.
Phoebe is an investigative journalist who is working on a cartel case. She doesn't even know she is in danger until Huxley, a PI interrupts her interview and literally throws her over his shoulder to get her out of the situation. Huxley has been working the case himself and knows that Phoebe is in way too deep.
For the last two years Huxley and Phoebe have never officially met until the day of said interview when he storms in and kidnaps her. The meeting between the two is very rushed, and there is nothing to base this relationship on at all. I mean you can't just lift a woman over your shoulder and decide to date now. He calls her babe immediately and they start kissing.. and I am left feeling like I missed something!?
I had to force myself to put this issue to the side in order to enjoy the rest of the story. I do like the main idea of this book and the mystery of the case Huxley and Phoebe are working on. Huxley is an alpha male with a soft heart, who clearly cares a lot for Phoebe.
This was a fast read that allowed to me to relax at the end of the day, but not something that kept me on the edge of my seat.
I received a free copy from the author/ publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This was a quick and easy read, but nothing particularly special. The actual plot of the book wasn't written, it was summarised in a few short paragraphs of "tell, not show" so nothing really happened on the page.
The relationship between the two main characters felt forced - they'd never properly met before, but all of a sudden had real, deep feelings? I know that often this kind of book has an element of insta-love, but here it felt like there was no reason at all for the characters to like each other. Neither had any real personality and their interactions felt mechanical.
I first heard about this book releasing because of who the publisher is! I received an email from them with the cover reveal and the cover looked amazing and made me want to know more! I waited for this book to release, grabbed a copy, and started reading it when I had a chance! After reading I can say that I enjoyed this book! The plot intrigued me right from the first chapter and it kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! The plot developed at a nice pace as well and it only took me a few sittings to read! There was plenty of romance and sexual tension between the main characters as well! The romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes, which were really hot! There was also a bit of action and suspense in the plot, which I loved because it added a lot to plot and made me enjoy it more! The ending was also left at the perfect place! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Phoebe was the main female character, and I liked Phoebe in this book! I felt like I sometimes felt a bit of a disconnect with her, but I think it's just because she held back a lot when it came to her love interest! I understood why she did though because she had experienced a lot of loss and she didn't want to get close to someone in case she lost them! Phoebe did come a long way in this book though thanks to her love interest! Huxley was the main male character and love interest of Phoebe! I loved Huxley in this book! He was a complete alpha male and he was controlling and didn't like to not be in control! He worked a very dangerous job as well! Huxley also wanted what was best for Phoebe and he was very strict when it came to her safety! It was easy to see that he had deep feelings for Phoebe as well and he wanted to be in a relationship with her! I loved that this book was written from both Phoebe and Huxley's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be before I started reading, even though the synopsis gives the impression that it may only be written from the female character's point of view! The majority of the book was written from Phoebe's point of view, but Huxley's point of view was in there as well, but it was written from third person! It helped me connect more with both characters and it allowed for a few more things to happen in the plot! This helped as both characters spent a bit of time apart! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! I'm really sad that it is because I would love to read more on Phoebe and Huxley! The ending of this book was left at the perfect place though and summed up the characters story! I now can't wait to read more books from this author! I know she has one other book released, so I can't wait to check that one out and see what she's going to release next! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it and it definitely drew me to the book! I love it a lot and how well it suits the book! The cover models are the perfect Phoebe and Huxley as well!
🌟3.5 STARS🌟 Wow, what a freaking ride!! A novel published by Boom Factory Publishing, you will definitely feel the Aurora Rose Reynolds' trademark#BOOM with this one!
Phoebe Danvers is an investigative journalist in the small tourist town of East Haven, South Carolina. Sure she's crossed paths with one Huxley Carson before, the ex-FBI agent turned Private Investigator, and the newest resident of East Haven. However, Phoebe's past losts has made her not only emotionally unavailable but has left her emotionally scarred. Because of this, we witness Phoebe's character go through a transition as her relationship develops with Huxley which ultimately allows her character to have some great character growth. Though Huxley is the hero, the alpha who is full of "babes" and growls, he did not overshadow Phoebe. In fact, I felt he sort of took the backseat to Phoebe. But guys, I loved this book for that because in doing so, Hope Jones was really able to let Phoebe Danvers' character shine. She was funny, full of quips, some could even say a spunky spitfire. Phoebe had baggage but really she was just someone with a soft center in the middle of a hard shell.
Surrendering To Him is a fast-paced novel; plot wise. The book spans about six weeks from start to finish in which so many things happens as Phoebe finds herself targeted due to her sticking her nose a bit too deep into someone's–The Disciples, a drug cartel also new to East Haven–business while chasing a story. Which is where Huxley comes into the picture and where the book actually starts: Phoebe locked in an office after being kidnapped from her current interview by Huxley... because danger!
Though I really enjoyed this read I found the solution to the major plot problem to be fast moving towards the end. Also, I wish there was more show and less tell moments because certain moments felt glossed over and had they been written full-out it would have added to the depth of the characters. The setting could have been more descriptive, depicting more of the small town characteristics one likes to read about; i.e. nosey neighbors and picturesque backdrops. Regardless, Surrendering to Him is a sweet, sexy slow burn (sorta) action romance that is wholeheartedly a delightful read!
***Received novel as an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was finally able to read and write a review of this book after fixing the download function on my kindle. And I'm so glad I did. I hope it is not too late to send this review. This was a wild fun, fast ride. Thank you Netgalley.com for letting me download it. The story centers around Phoebe Danvers. She is an investigative journalist looking into a crime committed in the small tourist town named East Haven South Carolina. Enter Huxley Carson an ex- FBI Agent turned Private investigator. Huxley and Phoebe share a past attraction that Phoebe does not want to ignite and Huxley wants to turn into a relationship... However, Phoebe keeps Huxley at arm’s length and focus only on the investigation. Phoebe thinks she has too many hangups to even consider a relationship with Huxley. Huxley is very attracted to Phoebe and tires to show her he is a good man. Meanwhile, they must try to solve the crime before they try to connect.
I really like this book. The characters were riveting and interesting. The pace fast and exciting. I stayed up late past my bedtime to see what was going to happen next and spend the next day reading until I finished it. Lol. I don't usually like the tell don't show narrative in books. However, somehow it worked in this book. It reminded me of the old detective novels of the ’50s. I received a free ARC copy of this book from Netgalley.com and the author in exchange for an honest review. I will definitely look for more books by this author to read in the future.
This book was incredible, I picked it up because it was published by Boom Factory Publishing and I love Aurora Rose Reynolds books so this is my first by HJ. I loved it and for sure HJ will be a new one-click author of mine.
You're thrown directly into the story line so let me tell you, you will never be bored as this starts with a bang and so not what I was expecting. The tension and chemistry was high right from the start and my oh my did I love it. It was hot and off the charts the whole way through - their actions, words and sound of tone really sell this book making you feel like you're part of the story.
Phoebe is a strong independent woman who is successful and does whatever necessary to get the best story. She's committed to her work and isn't afraid to take stories that others would pass. Her personality is so relatable and I loved reading about her - she's kind until mad at which point she is fierce.
Huxley is a rule breaker hence, quitting the FBI to become a PI to go around the red tape of the law. He's your typical alpha who knows what he wants and is relentless and yet has an amazing side to him which is soft, patient and kind towards Phoebe. Basically, he is the ideal boyfriend.
I would recommend anyone to take a chance on this author considering she doesn't have many releases as you will not regret this read. Especially, if you are in need of a good read with lots of chemistry and a male alpha *fans self*
2.5 stars. If you love hyper alpha males and fast paced storylines with a lot of sexual buidup, this book is FOR you!
For me, it moved a little too fast. The book opens mid-scene with Hux already swooping in to save Phoebe. From there everything keeps speeding up. It was dizzying at times! Plus, the swiftness with which some of the plot events occurred were SO unrealistic (e.g. the house; overcoming her trauma) that it really took me out of the story. Much of their relationship actually reads like a formal sub/dom situation which I'm totally here for—except that wasn't discussed or established. It's just...how he in particular acts. Not a fan. There were also a lot of casual anti-sex worker comments that were completely unnecessary to ,make their point.
On the plus side, I'm a sucker for the build-up. I love when stories take their time getting to mutual pleasure and this book did that amazingly well. i also LOVED the side characters, especially Millie. And, TBH, I want more books in this universe. I want to read Hux's sister's second chance romance. I want each of his men to find their HEA. I would definitely read more even if they make me eye roll with the gender roles being too defined (at one point I literaly screamed, "OMG why can't he set the table?!"). And I do love the premise of this-it wasn't too scary but had that fun mystery element!
I received a free copy from the author/ publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Phoebe Danvers is a reporter and investigative journalist the previous year she did a story on a gang in the area and the drug trafficking. Now she is planning on doing a story on the way the sheriff who got elected over the man who everyone thought should have won. Before she can start though Huxley Carson P.I. and former FBI agent enters the room and throws her over his shoulder carrying her out to his car cuffing her to his car and then taking her to bed. That part seemed a little dramatic. I got that it is a story and all but what guy has the right to just come up and put his hands on a woman like that, I know I taught my daughter differently. Anyway, once I got past that and just about the story it was okay. Huxley is trying to take down the people that have moved into the town that is taking over the illegal activities and the sheriff is part of that as well. He is also wanting to protect Phoebe and just goes about it all alpha-like which she is not used to and though I liked the story as far as the action scenes my take on Huxley I felt he was a little over the top at times, that is just me. A good book none the less. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 3 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
Surrendering to Him is an amazing story which kept me in my happy place cover to cover. Huxley Carson owns his own PI firm, after leaving the FBI, so he's all kinds of protective alpha. He & team are trying to take down a cartel, and you already know it's not an easy thing to do, not to mention, extremely dangerous. While on this case, he runs into investigative reporter Phoebe Danvers, who is in the crosshairs of that cartel, so she's in some pretty big danger herself. This is how they start getting to know each other, as he's determined to keep her safe since she's not backing down from crap. They have some serious chemistry, and it doesn't take long for feelings to be caught, but there's still that whole cartel issue to deal with first. The twists are crazy intense, keeping me on the edge of my seat with my heart racing, and f-bombs dropping. So, will these two come out of all of the dangerous chaos for a shot at a future together?! You'll have to hit that one click button to find out! As for me, I'm in love with Hope Jones, and CANNOT wait to read more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Still in a Hux fog days later! This story is full of surprises, suspenseful, some scary events and filled with laughter to break the much needed tension with the things that unfold in the story-line and these characters. Phoebe is a strong hard headed person and will stop at nothing to get her story exposed. Guess that is why Huxley had to go all Alpha male to stop her interview and start trying to protect her! All I will say to avoid any spoilers. Huxley is an Alpha through and through and now it's time to let Phoebe know that not only will he aide in getting her story, they need to do it a certain way to protect her and he's pulling out all stops to show her now is the time for them to explore a potential relationship. Can he protect her, but still get her story out there without endangering anyone lives? We shall see once you read the story. This is the second book I've read by this author and enjoyed. I truly hope that the other characters in this book get a story. So here's to trying! Throw me a Roman Candle and keep us in a Hux fog!
I first heard of hope through one of my favorite authors and wanted to be one of the first to support. Ever since reading her first book “When She Remembers” I couldn’t wait to find out more about Huxley. As I read the book, I love how Huxley puts himself equal to his team. Not everyone thinks like that. I love that he acknowledges everyone he works with is one. Phoebe is passionate, about her job and never wants to give up. She’s fierce and very relatable when it comes to her past and being guarded. She continues to fight what she feels for Huxley and push him away but our alpha male won’t let her go. He helps her with her past, along with protecting her from any threat/danger. From start to finish, the love, drama and growth was there through out the book. Absolutely loved and highly recommend for anyone that loves their romantic aloha male story. I can’t wait for who’s book is next! Is it Phoebes best friend Millie? Or Huxley’s sister Davina?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I loved this book so much! Surrendering to Him is my first book by this author. When I found out that she is affiliated with Boom Factory Publishing I knew I was going to be in for a treat.
I was hooked from the very first page. You see first hand how absolutely alpha Huxley Carson is and it gets better and better. Huxley Carson is a former police officer, former FBI agent and now a bada$$ private investigator. He has had his eye on the local investigative reporter, Phoebe Danvers for the past few years. Unknowingly Phoebe finds herself in some trouble, Hux finally finds his way in and makes it his mission to keep her safe. The banter between these two was fantastic and the chemistry is off the charts. But Phoebe fights the attraction, she was determined to keep her heart safe. She had lost too much in her life and not willing to go through that again, but Hux is just as determined to finally have her for his own.
I am definitely a new fan and looking forward to reading more from this author!
Thank you Netgalley and Boom Factory Publishing, LLC for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Wow! For an author who only has 1 other published book, you would never know it by reading this one. This book has major Kristen Ashley, Aurora Rose Reynolds and Harper Sloan vibes.
Phoebe is a strong willed, stubborn journalist. All characteristics need for that profession. However it’s landed her on the wrong side of some bad people and that is exactly where Hux comes into play.
Huxley is a badass PI that owns his own security company. He has been circling Phoebe for a while and he decided now is the time to give in and claim Phoebe as his own once he learns the severity of her danger. It was bound to happen regardless of the danger. This just gave him the excuse needed to take over.
If your are a fan of Hawk Delgado, Nico Mayson or Axel Reid then you will fall head over heels for Huxley Carson.
This was my first book by Hope Jones. She wrote a great dominant alpha who knew what he wanted. It was a fun ride that kept me in stitches and me little swoony.
When we are first introduced to Phoebe, she is seeing red. She has just woken up and Huxley Carson is in her sights. I was in total agreement with her. He needed to go down and was gorgeous all at the same time.
Poor Huxley just wanted to keep the woman he liked safe and sound. The only issue was she loved her job and digging were she probably should not dig.
The push and pull between Hux and Pheobe were great. This is a BOOM book. The moment Hux met Phoebe she was his woman and he just needed to realize it.
If you do not love a good insta-love book, this one will not be for you. If you do, buckle and get comfy because this bad boy is a great ride.
We learn about a few other major players in this book and I am chanting for another book with the amazing supporting cast.
