Country Cottage Mysteries #8

Cat Scratch Cleaver

Rate this book
An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premiere destination for murder. ***Includes RECIPE

My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds—not every mind, not every time but most of the time and believe me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.

The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.

The inn is being featured in a movie and it seems as if all of Hollywood has descended on Cider Cove. But something sinister is happening. One of the lead actors ends up dead and to make things worse, someone is terrorizing the guests of the inn. The guests may be on edge, but I’m determined to put an end to the killer’s reign of terror.

A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, USA TODAY Bestseller Bellamy Bloom.

Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it’s the premiere destination for murder.

Back to Cider Cove we go with another great book by the awesome duo Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom. Bizzy Baker is on a mission to find her wedding dress as she is getting married in a month. Plans tend to derail though when a murder happens while a movie crew is staying at the inn. Buzzy will need all the help she can get, including using her transmundane gift to catch a murderer. With her homicide detective fiancee, some furry friends, and other friends and family she may just pull it off! Read this awesome book as a part of the series, or as a standalone!

Good Cozy Mystery

This is a good cozy mystery. Filled with a lot of people who are meant for more than homicide.
The main character that is responsible for the murders is the sister of a murder victim from high school.
I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Innkeeper Elizabeth "Bizzy" Baker should be busy planning for her wedding to police detective Jasper Wilder, but instead she's corralling the cast and crew of a horror movie filming at the Country Cottage Inn. When the lead actress is killed, Bizzy can't help but investigate. But how does the most recent death link with the deaths of two other women years ago?

There's plenty of cozy mystery solving in Cat Scratch Cleaver, along with the cute animal-to-human conversations and wacky supporting characters common to the series. Jasper's ex, Camila, whom I once found a catalyst for change in the series, now seems to be overstaying her welcome, but otherwise, this is a very good installment in a good series.

Parts of a film is being made at the Country Cottage Inn that Bizzy Baker manages and things are definitely NOT going smoothly. A body is found on the beach and Bizzy and her friends and pets are all in to solving the murder. On top of that, Bizzy needs to find her wedding gown as her wedding is getting near. This is an exciting book. I didn’t guess correctly on who was the murderer, which makes for an even better story. I recommend beginning this series with book one.

I can’t get enough of this series by Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom, they seriously know how to keep you hooked and guessing when it comes to reading their books. Plus, once you’ve had a taste of both Fish (the cat) and Sherlock Bones (the dog) who are Jasper and Bizzy’s pets, it’s hard to not want to see what’s happening in their world. Honestly, I do think that Addison and Bellamy have done another great job with this book, they took a completely different turn with this one and I do like how it turned out. Sometimes it’s good when authors try to tell a story in a different way than what you’ve grown accustomed too, as long as it’s done right…. Sometimes some authors aren’t able to capture the uniqueness to something that isn’t their usual style, but Addison and Bellamy did a great job. I loved every minute of this book, even though I do still want to slap Jaspers ex…. Seriously, she needs to go. I feel that both Bizzy and Jasper would have a better life if she wasn’t around, but I know that if they did ever get rid of Camila then it wouldn’t happen as of yet, both Addison and Bellamy like to keep tormenting us for a little while before they give it up and give us a little something of what we want to happen…. But whilst that’s a little evil of them, it does work out in their favour as these books just keep making you want to read on and on.
I do feel like Bizzy is growing as a character and I love that Jasper cares a great deal about her and that he will allow her to make her own choices… Yes, sometimes she does put her own life at risk, but he does worry about her a great deal and is always there when she needs him.
I honestly can’t fault anything with this book, they both wrote it incredibly well and I just love everything that they had to offer with it.
I’m excited to see where both Addison and Bellamy are planning on going with this series, I honestly see that this series has the potential to go somewhere, but the list is endless with what they could do.
I would recommend that you give this book a try, it’s recommended that you read these in order for the best experience.

Bizzy is only a month away from getting married to the love of her life Jasper, and both of them just can’t wait for that to happen, however there’s a few problems that are ahead of them….. They’ve not made much planning involving the wedding, Bizzy doesn’t have a dress for the big day, they haven’t discussed where they will live once they are married…. And the best one, Camila…. They just can’t get rid of her. But that’s nothing compared to what is actually happening at the Inn right now… After getting approached by a movie production, Bizzy is now playing host to the filming of a new film and the Inn is one of the main features of it. So now, Bizzy has an Inn to run, a film to keep an eye on just in case anything happens and to find the perfect dress for her wedding… But life has decided it doesn’t want to play nice. So when the main actress for the film ends up being killed and Camila is hitching up her plans to try and get Jasper away from Bizzy, what will she do??? Will she be figure the truth out, and when something from the past crops up, will it play a key part to the current case???

This is taking “being stabbed in the back” to a new level.

Book Description: “The inn is being featured in a movie, and it seems as if all of Hollywood has descended on Cider Cove. But something sinister is happening. One of the lead actors ends up dead, and to make things worse, someone is terrorizing the guests of the inn. The guests may be on edge, but I’m determined to put an end to the killer’s reign of terror.”

Bizzy and Jasper are enjoying a romantic evening walk along the shore and stumble across a woman with a cleaver protruding from her back. A real mood killer. Their wedding is just over a month away and the pre-wedding to-do list has way too many open items on it. Not the least of which is buying a wedding dress, deciding where they will live, and now… wrapping up this murder investigation prior to the ceremony. Of course, Jasper’s ex-fiancé is holding onto the delusion that she will be able to win back Jasper’s love and affection and actively working overtime to try and stop said ceremony from taking place. What lengths will Camila go to stop Bizzy and Jasper’s wedding from proceeding?

The already zany antics of the colorful residents of the fictional cozy seaside town of Cider Cove, Maine, intensify as they scheme to be noticed and hopefully cast as extras, or more, in the movie being filmed at the Country Cottage Inn.

This story is an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. I highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy being an arm-chair sleuth and welcome the addition of a little romance, comedy, and drama to enrich the story.

Another great cozy mystery! Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn in Cider Cove, Maine. It's a hot sweltering summer and a movie is being filmed at the Inn. The Inn is swarming with the cast and crew as well as lots of vacationing tourists. A cast member is found murdered down at the cove! Bizzy is determined to figure out who did it. She has transmundane powers and can read the minds of people and animals. Reading people's minds can help her to see if they might have wanted the victim dead. There are lots of suspects and this book kept me guessing till the end. You can read this book as a standalone, but I really recommend that you read all of the books in this series so that you can learn about all the characters and their quirks.

Bizzy and the Cider Cove gang have done it again. They had a great time while hosting a movie crew at the Inn. Of course, some crazy things happened and there was a murder and Bizzy did her thing and got busy and had to solve it. While doing this sleuthing thing she has been doing she is also trying to find a wedding dress because well she is will be getting married in less than a month.

I am so enjoying this series. Getting to know all of the characters and watching as they grow and become more enmeshed in each other's lives. It always makes these series so much better to read. It also makes it easier to picture them and where they live and what is going on in their lives. All a sure sign of awesome authors.

I can not wait for the next book in this series to come out.

A scene from a movie is being filmed at the Inn, but the head actress is murdered by cleaver. Camilla decides that Jasper is only attracted to Bizzy because of her detecting ability, so decides to solve the case herself. Identical cleavers star appearing around the grounds of the inn (such as in the back of a mermaid topiary).

Bizzy uses her mind reading ability to solve the murder, then confronts the killer in an isolated spot and has to be rescued by Jasper and Leo, as she does in every book. When will Bizzy learn to keep HER thoughts to herself until she has backup?

This book is a nice, fun read, but how I wish the protagonist would not always confront the killer in an isolated place and shout, "You did it! You are the killer". Surely the book would be just as entertaining of the main character showed a bit of smarts?

Cat Scratch Cleaver is the eighth book in the Country Cottage Mystery series, it is part of a series, but could be read as a stand alone and you would be just fine. It is nearing the end of summer ind Cider Cove and there is a movie using the inn for part of their set. Things were going smoothly with almost everything except the start felt she was being haunted, but before she finished the movie she was murdered the way her character was going to be killed. While Bizzy and Jasper were out for an evening stroll they stumbled along her body. The more digging Bizzy does to find the killer the deeper she finds this case going. Will she be able to find the killer before the movie shoot is done? Or will this kille get away with murder?

Addison and Bellamy prove once again that they are a dynamic duo pulling us in and keeping us hostage to the end. We find ourselves back in Cider Cove with Bizzy Baker and her motley crew both two legged and four. They are emerged into the world of movie stars, and drama as another murder happens at their doorstep. Bizzy sets forth to figure out the guilty party and bring justice to the the dead. I mean it doesn’t hurt she can read minds and even that can be tmi.
This is book 8 and can be read as a stand alone, bye to get the whole experience quick go pick up book one and fall into the world of Cider Cove.

Bizzy Baker is at it again. There is a movie being filmed at the Inn she runs in Cider Cove, Maine. When her and her fiance Jasper stumble onto another murder she can't help but try to solve it. This time she has competition. Jasper's ex Camilla. She thinks it she solves the case before Bizzy, she will win back Jasper. Luckily Bizzy has a secret weapon. She is transmundane. She can read the thoughts of both people and animals.
Will Bizzy solve this case in time for her upcoming wedding, or will Camilla beat her to it? You will have to read to find out.

Now, I know I say this every time I read one of these books, but it's never untrue. Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom have once again brought un back to Cider Cove and Bizzy Baker. There's a movie being filmed at the Inn but, with a new murder to solve and a bit of competition on the romantic front, Bizzy it busier than ever before. She will have to use all her wits and gifts to solve all her problems.

Well done to both authors for writing another phenomenal story full of fun, intrigue, mystery and a bit of romance.

I think this was the best book yet in this series! I love visiting Cozy Cove and reading about Bizzy and all the characters. Georgie is a hoot! And she was just that in this book. When a film crew comes to the Country Cottage Inn to film a murder mystery it turns into a real life murder mystery. Bizzy sets out to solve the crime but she’s got some competition this time. Her fiancés ex decides she’s going to solve it first and win Jasper back. Bizzy’s not about to let that happen!

Bizzy Baker is busier than ever! Hollywood has come to Cider Cove. Unfortunately not everyone will be returning. When the lead actor ends up meeting an untimely death with a cleaver to the back, Bizzy has to get busy finding out who done it! No one terrorizes the guests at the Country Cottage Inn on her watch! She has plenty of help from her friends and smoking hot detective fiance.(and unfortunately even her detective fiance's ex) Come join Bizzy and her gang for an exciting time! You won't regret it!!

Not bad

Huh, this one actually had me wondering who did it, as I was thinking a little supernatural interference. Hey, met Lottie? Bizzy and the gang get caught up in another murder after the lead actress in the movie being filmed at the inn gets killed on the beach. Guess having a film shot at the Inn was not the smartest move.

With a cast of suspects, a little breaking and entering, and a pesky ex of her fiance getting in the way of everything, Bizzy has to work extra fast to solve this one.

Cat Scratch Cleaver is my new favorite in this series!! Bizzy is back with a fancy film production, a haunted murder, and some tasty s'mores bars that will leave your mouth watering with suspicion!
While a film is being shot at the inn, Bizzy stumbles across a fresh body. The events that ensue leave you wishing like crazy that Lottie could come help!!
No spoilers, but, this is DEFINITELY worth the read!!!

Never a disappointing book in this series so far!

A fantastic story line with awesome characters! Of course, my favourites are Fish, the kitten and Sherlock Bones, the dog. I'm very much enjoying the mysteries and trying to figure out who the culprit is. This one had me guessing every which way from Sunday, but I never guessed right who did it. I was surprised! It was a totally fascinating mystery!

This series is absolutely hilarious! And even better, this story was a crossover with another by the same author, so now I have another series to read!

The leading lady ends up dead before her final death scene, and cleavers are being found all over the grounds. Who knocked off the leading lady? And guess who the new leading lady is?

Fun read

This is such a light hearted series with great plots. I've come to love this group of characters that are varied yet interesting in their own way. Some of the situations feel a bit like "I Love Lucy" episodes with crazy situations that offer a good laugh.

One more time

Have to admit Bizzy has more guts than me. Confronting an murderer on her own. This group of ladies would have to be a hoot to hang with. Stories are fun and refreshing and I can't always figure out the whodunit before Bizzy. Great job! Thank you.

Another great mystery. I couldn't put it down last night, had to finish it before I went to bed. The mystery, as always, was well written and the characters were quirky and so likeable. Could do away with Camille though. Recommend reading--on to the next one.

Nice story with good twists. I was hoping the friend that sees ghosts would visit to talk to the ghost even though that wasn't the biggest part of the story.
