It was never Fat Frankie Finch’s intention to become a gangster. In fact, he just wanted a nice life, a bit of razzle-dazzle and to be able to treat his Linda once in a while.
Until one fateful morning when everything changed.
I liked this short story, a great attempt from the author to unite thriller (suspense), mystery and a bit of daily horror of the gangsta-living. In general, there are more twists and turns/surprises than on a mountain road... Style: brutal and realistic. The almost non-stop action makes for a heart-pounding page turning story...loved the heroes as well :) Overall: good and refreshing read.
A short story providing background story on a character featured in a full-length novel by the same author. Interesting characterization and compelling storyline.
I just met Frankie Finch in this short, action packed read! I am so looking forward to reading more! I received this standalone prequel free by signing up for TM Thorne's newsletter.
TM THORNE who wrote this mob hit tale is female. It would appear that she has no qualms writing about bloody violence. The title would seem to refer to a man who has made his bones by committing murder. The text needs further editing.
TM Thorne’s “Made: The Frankie Finch Story” is the definition of an engaging and thrilling crime short story. The writing style has you hooked right from the start and the progressions be it, making references to the past events to introducing key characters is seamlessly done and flows with the central plot. I struggled to keep the book down and devoured every word in one sitting. Frankie Finch is a well-crafted, memorable character and this book is an excellent prequel to the Racing Rivalries series. I can’t wait to read this series and look forward to reading more of TM Thorne.
A thank you to VoraciousReadersOnly for giving me a free review copy of this book
I wanted to stop reading this book after the first couple pages because I disliked it so much.
It’s a good thing this book is a short story because it wasn’t very good. It has promised, could have even been made into a series or novel instead of a short story. It’s mix of British terms with Grease and Jersey Shore. The book is like a bad 1950-1960 style gangster book that’s trying too hard. When reading it it reminded me of the episode of charmed where Henry and Paige end up in a book and they’re in the thirties solving a crime. That’s what this is. Gangster talk with names that are more Jersey shore or Italian than they are British.
Not my typical genre but it was fun. Great peek into the making of a character. Good writing and a fun fast paced plot. I will be adding more books in this series to my TBR pile.
Disclaimer I was offered this book free of charge for an honest review.
