I thought limping through a year at InkHaven as an unprepared, unmagical noob would be the hardest thing I ever did.
I was wrong.
Returning to InkHaven after a summer spent in domestic bliss is a kick to the teeth, especially when I have to leave two of my men behind to do so. But that’s nothing compared to what the Academy has in store for me in the coming year.
Somebody wants me dead, and I’ll have to sacrifice pieces of myself to survive.
Disclaimer: Ink Born is a Reverse Harem Paranormal Academy Romance featuring all adult characters. It contains graphic scenes with both m/f and m/m content, as well as frequent group dynamics.
Was still difficult to get through the book. I think a lot of it has to do with the descriptions being kinda skewed. It's hard to picture what is going on in several places which just makes things hard to follow, the logistics of the sex scenes are odd and the MC is some kind of trapeze extraordinaire in some cases it seems. The end of the book with the reveal is a let down because it's literally rushed into the last 8% of the book.
The relationships are all very odd: the guys all have her to screw but also pair off. The relationship with the more dominant male is borderline abusive/actually manipulative in some cases which is a massive turn-off for someone who has been in such a situation. It's not something you try to romanticize and talk down to make it less abusive; "He did went behind my back and stomped all over everything because he loves me so much" isn't a good mindset. The MC having to continually do things that don't upset that character is so wrong.
Wow! I'm seriously impressed and loved this book so much. Be warned that I about lost my mind about 22% in. These authors evoked such an emotional response from me that my throat tightened up to the point of pain and it was legit hard to swallow and they ruined my freshly applied make up! Ugh lol The book was captivating and compelling and the heat factor was off the charts. Must read for sure.
I was expecting something more to happen out of their training other than trials. Many scenes were too rushed with hardly any build up and was predictable. I’m not into all this academy type stuff but I thought I’d try the duo. Eh. Immaturity, extremely slow character development if anything other than her powers that just started popping up out of nowhere. Parts like her finding out stuff about herself was incredibly lacking. Can’t say much without giving it away for others. But it needs work in my opinion.
Ok. A lot better than the first one but still flawed. The end was rushed while the middle dragged on. It could have done with less sex scenes and more story. I wouldn’t read anything else from this author.
Did not finish. Struggled with book 1, loved the idea but hated the execution, hoped book 2 would show more maturity. Barely got through chapter 1 of book 2. When I hit one particularly bad sentence, I decided I wasn't going to put myself through the torture.
I downloaded InkBorn, book two of the InkHaven Academy series as a set through Kindle Unlimited. his wasn't a flawless read, due to some strange leaps in the plot, and a few rushed spots, But I finished up in a day. Good ending to the duet.
This book was ultimately super disappointing. The first book was intriguing and had me very much looking forward to book 2, but left me underwhelmed in the end.
I think the issue was time. There was too much plot crammed into too short of a series. The beginning of each book was sooo slow, only then to have the second half be soo fast that you can't even really keep up as we jump from plot point to plot point.
Also having half of the men she had built relationships with in book 1, only be present for sexual encounters in book 2 was a total flop. It was like wham, bam, thank you, ma'am. A quick fuck and nothing else to nurture those fresh relationships. We wouldn't even get any nice afterglow moments. Just a crazy gangbang and then *poof* she is back at school.
Also why the fuck did the villians move from secret plotting to a full frontal attack? There was no reason. Felt super weird and made no sense.
This series had a lot of potential. Ultimate left me feeling absolutely nothing.
So the first book of this series had me a bit confused during the beggining. However I was quick to catch on to what was going on and this book was an amazing finish for this duet. I went through all the emotions and I'm not ashamed to say I cried my eyes out at parts. I was truly gutted and felt the raw pain that went through some of these characters. The ups and downs were crazy but by the end of this book my heart was put back together again. I never wanted it to end however I'm looking forward to the bonus scene that is to follow! Definitely went through a wild ride with this book but it was oh so worth it!! Especially all that yummy loving and HOTness!!!
Well, so my why was I answered, however, the ending felt rushed and was a letdown for me. This world is actually so amazing and the first of its kind for me, but the execution of the story I wasn't feeling. I was also not happy with the reason for the additions to the harem. It felt like the emphasis was to keep more of the guys happy and I just felt out of sync with that. But, as I said, a great world and story, however, I felt let down by the execution.
I really enjoyed this book, it’s unique storyline kept me mesmerised- I couldn’t put the book down u til the very last word, and downloaded the extended ending too. The extremely detailed group steamy scenes are off the charts - wow, just wow!!! It’s got great characters and suspenseful twists - overall a great book.
OK, I finished it. I'm just gonna put it out there. This book actually brought a tear. The ending was easy to see from the beginning and totally rushed in the last someodd pages of the book. Serious letdown. Some of the (many) sex scenes seemed awkward. Truthfully, the dynamic as a whole was confusing. But to each their own.
An excellent read, I loved how Kaka grew and developed within this book duet. Her men were sexy as all hell, especially Ronan.. Plenty of action and also red hot raunchy loving. Awesome!
I am so sad that this “duet” is done! I adored the characters and felt all that they felt. I ended up purchasing this duet series, even though I have kindle unlimited; because after the first book, I knew I’d want to read it many more times to come!
Maybe I’m greedy, but man I wished there was more!! This was great duet full of suspense, mystery, and sexy hot fun scene that made me worry my kindle would go up in flames! I absolutely loved the harem’s dynamic and fully appreciated the mm themes—oh so very much *swoon*. Aside from my obvious love of the harem, I really liked the pace of the relationship. Although only two books, I didn’t feel like the relationships were rushed and developed rather naturally, which was really nice. My one negative of this series Zeevar. I can’t stand this word! I kept replacing it with Jeeper and suddenly everyone would would like Velma from Scooby-Doo. I did, however, love this new world with grim reaper like people and would love to read more from InkHaven!
InkBorn – InkHaven Academy Book 2 – Bardot & Madigan
In the second book of this duet, we begin at the start of the Academic year for a still forming RH.
There is still so much that Kaia and her men need to learn about each other, themselves and the environment in which they must survive and thrive. That of the Academy and the various sects to which they must commit to in order to fulfill their duty to the order!
Serious hurdles and trials must be safely traversed in order to reach the end, which for Kaia is graduating from the InkHaven Academy! She looses a few friends along the way but gains some extra men for her tight-knit harem.
This is seriously fast paced and a fast burn. Definitely an 18+ read with the steamy scenes of multiple combinations all of which is consensual.
Perfect end to a sassy little RH tale! I loved it! Five stars!
Wow. I was definitely not expecting the deeply emotional turn that the first half of this book takes. The trials Kaia faces throughout her experience at the Academy just get crazier and more intense as she grows into her power and gets a better feel for her abilities. Kaia is strong, and watching her realize and embrace that strength is fantastic. This short series had it all: mysterious mystery, kinky wildness, emotional turmoil, exciting fight scenes, a little possessive alpha action, and just really darn good characters. Lottie forever
I loved the first and this second book didn’t disappoint in anyway!! It was a darker read but I felt more engaged with the characters in this book. Throughout both books I’ve loved watching the characters and relationships grow especially Kaia, who is such a strong tough and resilient character. It has been wonderful way her embrace the person she is. This story had everything romance, mystery, kinky ness, fight scenes and wonderful characters. Throughout the book the storyline was wonderful and flowed and I was so sad when it ended and I had to say goodbye to some characters!
I fell in love with this world , I love this group relationship, the book was long and awesome, but now I’m in mourning because it’s over 😭. It ends once she graduates from the Academy, but I really really want to know everything that happens for every moment for like ever . So I’m super bummed . You will love this duet , it’s worth the heartache once it’s over . P.S. Some of the bedroom moments are more complicated than I could ever have dreamed up . Seven People at the same time seams impossible, but she made it happen . That takes some very creative skills.
What a year, what a summer! Kenna and Tove comes back with a bang!
The finale of the InkHaven Academy approached and the wheels of fate continues. Every scene steals your breathe and the suspense has you gripped, delicious scenes that will not only lit your undies in fire but also your insides, and a bond that is ever so precious you wish their story never ends.
Thank you for this wonderful piece. Keep writing, keep rockin'!
Inkborn is darker than the first book of this duet. Prepare yourself for some unsuspected heartbreaking moments, lots of steamy scenes and action packed story. A lot of questions i had in Inkspelled are finally answered in Inkborn. Great conclusion for this Inkhaven Academy story. Can't wait to read more of this world. Well done ladies!!
I received a free copy of this book and am volontarily leaving an honest review.
I absolutely loved reading this series!!! This was one of those stories that I could just not put down. It was that good. Storyline was fantastic. I will admit I teared up a little. I won't give away any spoilers but wow. Heartbreak. Authors did a fantastic job writing this story. Heck writing this entire series. I'm sad to see it end. Still want more. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for these amazing authors.
I wasn’t overly impressed with this book. Without the initial suspense of trying to figure out who will be and who won’t be in the group I found myself skimming through parts of the book. That being said the author knows how to write some steamy group scenes. I’ll continue to read more books by this author but this book falls short of my reread list.
The female lead goes through such growth and pain and experiences such depths of love. The story is quickly paced and has such an interesting and complex new world unique to any other I’ve read. There is some hard emotional content here, tears were spilled. It was however worth the ending
