But when he ran into local coffee proprietor Veronica, his dreams of a bachelor-life went out the window, and he couldn’t see a future without this woman in it.
Will Nathan be able to slapshot his way into Veronica’s latte world?
Pittsburgh, PA born and raised! I write Spicy Hockey Romance and Cozy Closed-Door Contemporary Romance. I am a Mom, a Wife, and a dog and cat lover. I've loved reading and writing since I was small. My books are cozy with a little spice. Some might be a little fluffy, but sometimes you need that to get away from every day stress! I am an avid hockey fan. I love my Pittsburgh Penguins! I do plenty of "research" for my books by going to hockey practices and games-I want to make my characters as real as possible.
The truth is, it took me a chapter or so to get caught up in this story. I'm not sure if it's because of what I had been reading previously (historical romance) or the writing style. If you feel this way, please continue reading. The beginning gives in-depth background of the characters. As the story progresses, there is a feeling of family and belonging. Yes, it's a hockey romance, but I don't think you have to have an in-depth knowledge of the game to be involved. The love story is intriguing. I loved learning about Boise. I loved the coffee and shop talk. I loved reading the story from both sides. I can't wait for the next story, because there are so many characters that need to tell their stories. Anyone who loves coffee, hockey, or HEA needs to read this story!
Veronica has been raised as a NY city girl who lived the high life but was never satasified even with her Wall Street job. She decides to pick up and move to Idaho and open a coffee and pastry shop. Her best friend decides to go with her so they both can start over. With her business doing so well and falling in love with the close net community when the fall festival starts she plans to have plenty of food and coffee for everyone. But when a gorgeous stranger stops by she suddenly forgets all her troubles and losses focus on everyone around except for him. Til she finds out who he really is and that he could cost her her business. Nathan is the newest captian for the Grizzles Hockey team in Idaho and as a seasoned player he is tired of all the puck bunnies and the one night stands. He's happy to be somewhere new where there is alot of nature since he loves hiking and all things outdoors, but when he runs into a beautiful woman at the festival he can't keep his mind off her. He loves the fact she doesn't know who he is and that they have such a normal relationship. Until she discovers his true idenity. Will these two be able to find their HEA or will they be able to get over the lies and unintentional deceit. Veronica and Nathan have such a strong chemristy that you will be praying they can get through it all. Melody has done it again with another faboulous book.
This is the first book in this series and the first book I have read from this writer. What a great book to kick out this series. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It was well written, flowed with ease and kept me interested. Veronica has had enough of her life. She decides to pick a spot on the map and start over with her dream. Her and her best friend end up in Boise, Idaho. They open a coffee shop where busy is growing by the minute. One day her friend tells her they are going to sponsor the hockey team in town. Veronica ends up meeting of the players but Nathan never gets the chance to tell her that he plays for the time. These two bond and really get to kindof know each other. But they are both hiding secrets from each other that could destroy the relationship they are trying to build. What will happen between these two? I loved this one. It was well written, a great storyline and two amazing characters that you cant but help fall in love with and want to get a happy ending. I cant wait to read more from this series and this author. She gained a fan with this one. So glad I took a chance on reading this one.
"This is such fabulous book, I love books with hockey players, really any sports related stories but hockey is my favorite. We get to meet Nathan and Victoria in the first installment of the Boise Grizzlies, it’s my first but won’t be the last. This story has so many twists and turns, you don’t know what you’re in store for, but you won’t be disappointed. The supporting cast of characters are friends we all can relate to or wish we had. I would love to have the guts Victoria did, leave your career move to another state and open a business, she is a rock star. Can’t wait for the rest of the series. " ~Stephanie
I felt bad for Nathan several times because Veronica just wouldn't drop that wall of hers, but when she finally did, I was practically cheering. I;m just glad Nathan made her sweat it out a little before he forgave her.
A little slower paced that what I prefer, but still enjoyable. Jen
The ploy of the story was very good but living in a suburb of the city of Boise some of the city details killed me. You’re most likely to have a beer festival than a Apple festival. No town square but we have the Grove right outside the area. Worse part is the team name, the grizzlies ugh the Utah Grizzled are the big rival of the Idaho Steelheads that play in Boise.
Veronica, dissatisfied with her life in NYC, is a city girl staring over in Idaho along with her best friend. Nathan is the new captain of his hockey team. Famous, jaded, and tired of the women who only want him for his fame and fortune, he’s enjoying his anonymity the simple and easy life of Idaho. Until he runs into Veronica. She’s beautiful, intriguing, and best of all, she has no idea who he is. But when his presence threatens to derail her hard earned new life and truths surface will they their connection be strong enough to endure?
These two were hot! Their chemistry clearly sizzled and you just know they need to be together. At times I wanted to shake Veronica and Nathan and tell them to just talk things out, but mostly I just needed them to find their HEA. Also, any book that talks about coffee hockey has my heart!
I enjoyed Lattes and Slapshots. It was a great story to curl up with and enjoy some coffee and a good romance. 4 stars.
This is the first book in the series and my first book by these two authors. I was drawn to this one because it's a hockey romance and the heroine likes to bake. I love to bake myself so I'm always drawn to books with characters that do. I loved the cover as well. That drew me in. The coloring caught my attention. One of the things I really liked about this book is it has a nice flown to it. I really liked Veronica. She has a lot of guts to follow her heart career wise and start fresh in a new place. I wish I had her bravery on that front. I liked Nathan as well. I liked he is an outdoors guy. It fits him well. Veronica and Nathan are cute together. I loved watching their love story evolve and play through. It's one I'm so glad that I read.
This is such fabulous book, I love books with hockey players, really any sports related stories but hockey is my favorite. This was a fantastic read, I loved the characters not just Veronica and Nathan but also their friends and I could relate to them, the fact they both don't reveal everything about each other for some reason or another was totally understandable but boy they don't do well with communication at all which never ends well. Be ready for laughs, frustration, attraction, awkwardness, love and deeply satisfying read. This is one of the few books I would read again as I enjoyed it so much and can not wait for the next to come out and see who is next up!
Such a fun book to read.. Veronica moves to Boise and opens a coffee shop, Nathan is a player for the Boise Grizzlies.. All his life it seems the women want him because of who he is but when he meets Veronica and she has no idea that made her more attractive. As time goes on he knows he needs to tell her his job but ..... He hasn't really been lying just not flat out saying he is a hockey player. . When she finds out will she feel their time together has been a lie and that he was just playing her?
I wanted to love this book but I could not get myself to like Veronica, she had this wonderful guy and she was just stupid to the point of nausea. Nathan was amazing and I wish he would have found another love but in the end, they work out however he was everything you could want in a guy. The story had promised I just think it needed some more character and a more likable main female lead.
It took me a minute to get into the book, but once I did, Veronica & Nathan didn't let me put their story down! I loved the chemistry between them, it was soooooo HOT! This was a great small town, sports romance!
I usually love Melody Heck Gatto’s books but this one was just OK. Veronica, the main female character was so insecure that she came across as bitchy. Hoping the next book in the series is better.
