The Stubborn Unicorn is the story of Luna, a unicorn who doesn't like to try new things and is very stubborn about it. One day Penny decides to try and help and introduce Luna to some things she may like.

This is a great story to show that new things aren't always as bad as they may seem. It was nice to see Penny working with Luna and being understanding as it shows that with some sympathy and understanding things can change. Seeing the relationship between Penny and Luna grow throughout the story is a lovely way to show their friendship.

The illustrations are very pretty and perfect for any unicorn fans. It's nice to see the emotions of Luna through the book and how her attitude to new things changed with Penny's help.

This is a great book to encourage children to try new things and perfect for unicorn fans, another great book from this author.

Passing on Helpful Lessons

This colorful picture book teaches lessons about the unpleasantness of being stubborn and the inherent goodness of being open to new ideas. Instead of a stubborn child, this book features a stubborn unicorn that is kind of the pet for the little girl in the story. The little girl gets somewhat annoyed at the unicorn’s stubborn bad habits, so she decides to encourage the unicorn to try new things and act better. What the little girl essentially does is pass on the lessons she likely learned from her parents or other caregivers about how to behave and be open to suggestions. I thought that was a cute aspect. I love it when kids *teach* lessons to animals or younger siblings in books. At the end of the story, the unicorn decided that it liked to try new things and it was more fun to be pleasant.

This book had pluses and minuses. I like the basic story and the vivid illustrations. I thought it was neat that the author included a few coloring pages at the back of the book. I have one big issue and one small quibble, though. The quibble: On the first pages, the author calls the unicorn's mane silver. There is one gray streak on the unicorn’s tail; most of it is pink and purple. I certainly, at first glance, thought the tail was Pink. But my bigger problem with the book is the issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. I strongly dislike seeing children's books with errors like these, as I believe that children are little sponges who learn from everywhere and everything. Children's books like this one should be absolutely faultless in this regard.

Our four year old granddaughter says "I love it". She is a rather fussy eater and is still not convinced that she will try carrots or peppers or strawberries or broccoli, but she loved that Luna will willing to try them as she has a pink unicorn that looks just like Luna.

I liked the story too but I think it would work better if Luna had tried just a few more foods, like broccoli and strawberries, like maybe a different colour each week. :)

A bright, colourful well-done story - very nicely illustrated.

Penny loves her unicorn, Luna. Luna likes to stay up late and is grumpy in the morning. She lets Penny clean up after her. She only eats pink food. Is there hope for Luna learning to help and go to bed early?

I enjoyed this story. Luna does learn to help Penny and she learns that she'll be tired when she goes to bed so she won't be grumpy in the morning. She also learns she likes other foods. Watching Penny teach Luna helps your little ones learn also.

This a cute story with adorable illustrations.

Another hit

Another great, quick ,easy to read and engaging book for the children! Love the examples of good and bad behaviors the author set in his stories, and also the easy to follow, solutions to solve or fix some of those bad habits he gave. Easy enough for my 2 year old kid to understand and to follow. Every night is a storytelling night for Lil’ E with a Michael Gordon’s book.

The Stubborn Unicorn

This book was very well written for 3 to 5 year olds. Luna, the unicorn experienced many problems little boys and girls experience. My grandson enjoyed the rhyming and we talked about how they were some of the same problems he had and how we could address them.

🩷EXCELLENT

Penny's best friend is Luna the unicorn.

They love playing together every day.

But Luna had one flaw: she often woke up in a bad mood...

****

A very cute, positive, colorful, and kind story.

A must-read!

What a delightfully fanciful story for young children! The age range from 3-5 is perfect and for those learning to read this would be a good choice as well!! Plus there are coloring pages at the end too!

Luna the unicorn only eats pink foods!
Luna the unicorn goes to bed late and gets up late!
Luna the unicorn never cleans up her glitter!!

Luna's friend Penny is getting a bit tired of some of Luna the unicorn's habits! She has to clean up after her, sweeping the glitter she sheds (unicorns don't shed fur but glitter!). Luna is grumpy in the mornings from staying up late and only eats pink foods like cotton candy that are not healthy!!

Penny has a plan and introduces carrots (orange!!) but Luna gives them a try and likes carrots!

Penny has a plan and introduces an earlier bedtime counting sheep! Luna falls asleep!

Penny has a plan and introduces cleaning up together! Luna finds it's more fun to help so they can play together later!

The illustrations are colorful, the words flow easily for reading out loud and of course there is a nice message about helping changes to come about to promote better health and wellbeing!

A fanciful story with a good lesson in a beautifully illustrated storybook!

Luna is a beautiful silver tailed unicorn that loves to dance and play with her best friend Penny. Although Luna was beautiful and fun, there were times when she was very cranky and not very helpful when it came time to do some chores. Unicorns shed glitter and Luna wouldn’t help sweep it up. She would stay up late and awake tired and weepy. Penny decided to help get Luna on a schedule. She taught Luna many helpful tricks to help her be a better unicorn. What do you think Luna learned?

Author Michael Gordon has created a cute story for any beginner reader. Young readers will learn how to treat others and how to be a better friend. There are fun coloring pages included so kids can even more fun with this story. Parents and teachers can use this as a tool to teach kindness.

Another Michael Gordon winner of a book. The story line shows how easy it is to play but how fun it can be when your best friend plays with you. Penny's best friend is a unicorn named Luna. She woke up cranky in the mornings and during breakfast. Penny is always sweeping up glitter like fur and hair needs sweeping from cats and dogs. Luna didn't help Penny, she went out to play. Penny loved her friend very much and wanted to help her. What did she do? Did it work?
The pictures are beautiful in this bedtime story book. You will get to see all the glitter and shine while you listen/read the book. There are also two color pages in the back of the book. I found this book on Kindle Unlimited and you can, too.

Luna and Penny were good friends. However, Luna was not as kind as one might think. She did what she wanted to do and did not take much responsibility for her messes or mistakes. Since Penny was a kind girl, she helped Luna learn.

I found this book to be a cute friendship tale. Luna was not mean, but rather careless. In a way she reminded me of a typical 2-3 year old. Penny on the other hand was kind and patient. She helped her good friend learn to grow up in a way.

This story is cute. The unicorn was a great character to use.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and were in no way influenced by outside sources.
