This was an uninspiring issue of the mag. There were a few tidbits to take away such as the need for massive public expenditure on public housing and not vouchers for private landords who operate with little oversight. Some countries have done it correctly from the beginning and some have caught up and have a positive philosophy about it now. Countries like Sweden and even the Soviet Union were able to build massive numbers of homes in a short amount of time. Some lacked a viable plan of integration into parts of the city rather than just being a housing estate. Overall, housing takes up far more of a percentage of our paychecks than it should and the idea of buying a property now is exclusively for the middle class. Predatory lending schemes, housing crisis of 2008 and total lack of building up supply in the last few decades have made sure of that.
