Super hot! Mmmmmm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Holy hotness. If you’re looking for a story that is provocative, steamy, and full of erotica, with a taste of BDSM, this book blends all of that together for a read you can’t get enough of.
This is the first time I’ve read this author and I am impressed with her storytelling abilities and great imagination.
The setting and the story is definitely unique. I love the message that you never really know a person and she shows that beautifully in this well-crafted story.
Wonderful character development that brings two people together against all odds. A hot and spicy read that will definitely fan the flames
TW/CW: Sexual assault/attempted rape, stalking, cheating
Review:
I was intrigued by reading this one due to the synopsis. The idea of the novel taking place (at least at part) in a sex club sounded like such a fun and sexy setting…and it definitely delivered.
I think the strength of this book was the balance between the sex scenes with an interesting plot and great use of pacing. I wasn’t too bored waiting for the steamy scenes and enjoyed getting time to watch the couple grow.
I enjoyed that this story followed an older protagonist. I thought it had a strong message showing that people of any age could embrace their sexuality and explore their carnal desires. Tori is a strong judge of the court who has been told to cover her body and was in a long-term unsatisfying sexual relationship and over the course of this book, develops into someone confident with her sexuality exploring various types of kinky sex.
Ian, our main love interest was described to be incredibly swoony. His banter early in the novel and his dirty talk during the sex scenes are pretty solid. He doesn’t have the best dirty talk I’ve read, but it’s definitely sexy. I didn’t like that he became slightly possessive towards the end, I get he wanted exclusivity when others were flirting with Tori, but still not my thing. That being said, I can feel how some readers will find it appealing that he wants the monogamy and is willing to show that alpha male side.
I liked the juxtaposition between Rupert and Ian. Rupert is described as a stuffy aristocrat, who digs lights off missionary position. Ian, on the other hand, is bold enough to banter and flirt with the judge in court and begins to consume Tori’s thoughts.
Also, getting chapters from Tori’s and Ian’s POV was a great way to help develop the couple and getting both their thoughts helped add to the sexual tension and satisfaction of the sex scenes.
What I didn’t like was Rupert’s apparent character change after his break up with Tori. Tori discovers some secrets about Rupert and is confronted with the fact that despite their long friendship, she doesn’t know him as well as she thought. I also really didn’t like the fact that Rupert deceived Tori and attempted to sexually assault her. I can understand the author’s reasoning for having Rupert becoming more possessive and struggling with the breakup. I can even be okay with him trying to force Tori into his sexual proclivities once the cat was out of the bag and even convince himself that he can help her find desires she didn’t know she had. But I just felt a bit squeamish that he violated her space (her home) and tried to assault her and then lied about it and threatened her. I’ve read other romance books that have an ex-lover assault plot before, but it felt really out of place here.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this was a fun, sexy romance that is tame enough for those wanting to dabble in BDSM romance, but still steamy enough for veteran romance readers. Ian is added to the list of sexy book lovers that make us all wish we can make characters real, without going too far into the pretentious douche side of things. This was also a super-fast read! I was able to finish this one in a few hours over a couple of sittings. If you’re looking for a sexy romance, this is definitely one to consider!
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the advanced copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I admit the book fails to capture my attention initially. I picked up my tablet twice to read it and both times I put it down after two to three chapters. I contemplated whether to just forget about it or giving it a third try and just rush through it so I can get the review done and over with.
I guess there is some truth to what people say about the third time's a charm.
In my third attempt to finish the book, I was already close to about page 100. I think that is the point, for me, when the story gets really interesting. And the story starts to pick up from there. The whole BDSM thing doesn't interest me, and I'll be honest, I skip those pages (and there were a lot of them). What got me staying is the chemistry between Candi and Randy (godawful nicknames!). After Candi and Randy met, the story captures my attention and i pretty much steamrolled my way until the end of the book.
So to put it simply, the book could be better had the start of the story wasn't too long winded and draggy. Victoria's self pity in the beginning was exhausting to read and she has the personality of a wood chipper.
Don't get me wrong though. It's not like after page 100, everything becomes magically interetsing. Oh no, there were some moments that got me cringey especially the texts between Candi and Randy. I'm pretty sure my IQ level had a significant dropped reading those uncharacteristic messages that resembles rowdy text exchanges between two 16 years old.
This book was just okay for me. I did enjoy that Tori was a bit older than most erotica novel heroines (super refreshing!) and Ian was, of course, sex on legs. I loved how Tori was this powerful badass in the courtroom, and that she had decided to take control of her own sexuality and shed any internal shame over her sexual desires. However, there were some aspects of the BDSM scenes that took me out of the moment, especially the fact that a safe word was never discussed prior to the scenes (which is pretty much BDSM 101). Also, Tori's ex spiraled into a character that I found beyond cringe-worthy, and I didn't think that a certain scene involving triggering content needed to be included (just my personal opinion). Overall, it wasn't a bad novel, and the initial sex scene between Ian and Tori was super hot, but I wouldn't highly recommend it to others.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book thanks to Netgalley; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Pffft. I don't know? This was okay - not great, but not terrible. It had a ton of elements going on; age gap romance, BDSM, societal pressures for women, crazy ex's, sexual assaults, and insta-love.
What I did like:
-I really like Ian. He is smart and cocky and that is my favorite. I appreciated that he is so quick to recognize when he is in the wrong and just as quick to apologize and try to fix it.
-The writing made this a quick read. It flowed nicely.
-The side characters - the Fletcher brothers and Tori's friends, were pretty great.
What I did not like:
-I cannot stand when a character makes sexual decisions for another. Two times the main couple don't discuss punishment before just doing it. I don't like that.
-Tori. She just kind of drove me crazy through the whole book. She is very wishy-washy and a bit annoying.
Overall, this isn't bad. If you want a fast paced story with a lot of moving elements and a secret sex club you might like this. And I definitely think a lot of people are going to like this, it just was not for me.
A very steamy romance story. Victoria is a strait laced British Judge who is stuck in a rut. Ian is an up and coming young lawyer who is infatuated with the Judge. Their world collides when Vic goes to a sex club with her best girlfriend. The story explores what happens when you find your inner fire. It involves exploration of your sexuality and life. Vic makes some shocking discoveries that upends everything she has ever known. It is an intense story that looks at the difference in the way men and women view sexuality. It shows how much a person will do to gain the love and trust of the person they love. This is an exceptional love story that will delight you.
This was an okay read for me and It did take a few tries to get to the story. Once I got into it, it was a fun read. It was steamy that is for sure and dabbles into the BDSM world, and how love is viewed. The writing and pacing were great and kept my interest piqued. It did try to deal with sexual exploration and it was pretty interesting to see the relationship develop between a judge and the barrister - age gap and positions of power.
This was an entertaining read with plenty of steam. Tori is a very proper judge in her early 40s. She's got the conservative suits, the low-key bun, and the comfortable relationship with an older man. But she has started to yearn for something more exciting. Her friend suggests a visit to a super-secret kink club, where Tori encounters a man who finally makes her feel desire. Little does she know (but we do, so it's not a spoiler) that he's Ian, the younger barrister who's been flirting with her in court. Ian knows this might be his one chance to win over the beguiling Tori, but he doesn't want to reveal his identity and scare her away.
Two things that made me uncomfortable, and for which I took off 1/2 star: the club is vaguely African-themed, with rooms named for safari, jambo, etc. It felt kind of like cultural appropriation, since these are elite, white, British people playing at being in Africa. Also, Allure hits the "slave" theme pretty hard, which I know is common in BDSM, but it hit with a clanging note in these times.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review.
I read the beginning of the story on the Chapters App which is a fun pasttime. I quite enjoyed the story so in stead of spending real money on gems to pick the good dialogue options in the game I decided to just read the book.
For a piece of literary smut this was in fact not bad. I liked the premise, the overall plot and our two main characters. I especially enjoyed their first meeting in the club but from that point on the magic was lost for me and I didn't like the remainder of the scenes in the club. I would have preferred it if the author had kept the mystery alive for a larger part of the story.
Seduced was a lovely tale of the awakening of a woman’s sexuality after two bad relationships. It was also an older woman/younger man romance, which I’ve lately found that I quite enjoy. Seduced was the first book for me by Kate Allure, and I liked her writing style.
I feel like I must list a disclaimer though. I didn’t know this was a book based on BDSM when I requested it. How I missed that I do not know, but I do know that it was my fault and not that of the author/publisher. I either initially misread the blurb or just didn't put 2 and 2 together. The latter is the most likely!
So, having said that, I can't comment on the BDSM content, since it's not really my usual reading material, and I have no clue if it's authentic or not ( my disinterest in this area has no reflection on my review or rating, since I was the complete numpty that ignored/didn't notice all the signs about what this book is about!).
Although full BDSM is reading material I don't really enjoy or seek out; I did like this author's passion during the scenes. Although I honestly skimmed over the ‘action', the passion and emotion behind it couldn't be avoided, and I found that I enjoyed that part of it very much.
The only negative I can really talk about happened during the first 20% (on Kindle) or so. I don't know if it was just me, but even though the story is set in modern England, the first part of the book had a very historical feel to it. It wasn't just the heavy use of titles of English nobility; it was the pacing, the language, and speech patterns. It felt more like a period novel, and at that point, I felt like it would have worked better as one. However, as the story went on, it started to feel more modern and moved into a more cohesive feeling. By the time I was halfway through I had forgotten the feeling of being ‘out of time', but it was obvious enough that I nearly didn't finish the book and, honestly, that would have been a shame.
Overall, I enjoyed this book; it was a lightish story but kept me engaged. I especially liked the bit of a dramatic twist at the end (no spoilers), and surprisingly, left me very curious about reading Fletcher's book (which is coming out next), he's quite an interesting character!
If you enjoy BDSM related romances, or (like me) you like a passionate OW/YM romance, this may be worth checking out.
DNFed at the moment, though I may go back and try again.
I read until just past 50%, skipped to the last few chapters and skimmed to see if it got better. The answer was...kind of? But not really...
I mean, overall the story was okay, but there were things about it that bothered me. I loved that the heroine was a bad*ss judge in the courtroom, and the hero is a barrister who is attracted to her brain and legal knowledge as much as her body. The innuendo/bantering between her and the hero was amusing (and hot!) but fairly inappropriate while working and in front of the rest of the courtroom. On the surface I liked that she was older (early 40s) and he was younger (30s--and of course, sex on a stick!) but the way she kept getting hung up on her age was beyond annoying. (As someone a few years older than her, I personally don't think of myself as quite elderly yet, but I digress...) I wanted to enjoy the sex scenes more than I did--they felt a bit flat. And never choosing a safe word? Isn't that the first thing you're supposed to do? (This becomes an issue later...but it should have never gotten to that point in the first place.) And don't get me started on her ex--those last few scenes with him were just wrong. All kinds of wrong. After those, I couldn't even enjoy the "Sex-pilogue..."
So...I might finish it, because I do want to see how Ian gets out of knowing who his masked woman is and not letting her know that he knows. But I might not. The jury's still out on whether I'll try the next one in the series...
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Victoria is smart and successful and she has put her career first for so many years to attain the status of her present position in the court, as a presiding Judge. Victoria wants to explore her sexuality and realizes she wants to explore that side of herself. Invited to a BDSM club- Victoria gets that chance. She is a cougar on the loose!
Unknown to her, an attorney who frequents her court is also is attending Club Exotica. He has a thing for the refined Judge and is almost resigned to the fact he won't have a chance to pursue a relationship with her. But one night, he meets Candy who reminds him of a lot of a certain Judge he knows...
Will Victoria and Ian be able to explore their desires? Get ready to be thrilled if you like it hot!!!
I would rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars. I had a harder time getting into this book. I also didn't quite relate to Victoria as a character overall. She had a lot of insecurities about her age. I feel like it would have been better if she just owned up to her age and accepted it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #NetGalley
If BDSM is not your thing, and that's okay, skip this book.
Victoria/Tori is an appointed judge who serves in the Royal Courts, who feels like she has it all. But there is something when it comes to her sex life. Her longtime companion is not fulfilling her and when she tries to spice things up he dismisses her attempts at seduction. And it's no help that the young barrister, Ian King's courtroom flirtations leave her feeling excited.
When she breaks up with the Boring Baron, she accepts her best friends invitation to an exclusive sex club. She meets a stranger who gives her the mind-blowing sex she's yearned for and she knows that one night with the handsome stranger will never be enough.
Honestly, I almost did not like Tori. I couldn't understand her unwillingness to give a younger man a chance. I absolutely despited her ex, Rupert. I did not like him at all. Of course, I figured out why later.
Looking forward to the next book in the series and hopefully a book for Diana.
Should Tori settle for boring?
Dame Victoria (Tori) Whittingstall has reached a high point in her career being appointed a judge to the High Court but her personal life was boring. Victoria was dating Rupert, Lord Bridlington, but she broke it off when he asked her to marry him. Victoria had flirted with barrister Ian King in her courtroom and he asked her out but she refused. Victoria’s best friend Lady Diana Stanhope took her Club Exotica, a private members-only nightclub to explore her fantasies and get over her breaking up with Rupert because she deserved more than boring sex life.
Seduced is an erotic romance where every-one wears a mask and Tori meets a guy that she wants to see more but masks can hide more than people’s identities from each other.
P.S. I want to know more about Michael and Sebastian.
This was a promising story. Victoria, somehow older and conservative decides to experience more of her sexuality. She decides to visit a sex kinky club her friend suggested. There is also Ian who is somewhat hot and sexy.
The story and writing didn’t hold my attention. There were moments I thought I was reading historical novel and then other times a modern novel. The language is different at moments but then there was texting and decisions that came out very juvenile. It I didn’t connect with the characters, she was so prude and for someone being so smart and educated her perception and conclusion were immature. I couldn’t understand how she seem to tolerate Rupert and he drugging her. Ian was my favorite character, his focus, determination and patience were over the top. Overall the plot was average, predictive and dragging, the suspense non-existing and the sexy scenes ok. Bdsm aspect needs improvement as it was not safe sane and consensual.
I really liked this book. I had issues at the start. Where it seemed to just take a bit to get going. But once I got into it I really loved it.
It had so much of that just good sexy time. And the characters were so well written and relatable.
I loved the bit of mystery that came with this sort of story too. And club with masks was such a brilliant idea. And I loved guessing who some people could be.
I totally had one of the big shocks pegged from the start. And they pay off to that was so fun and infuriating all at the same time. Because gahhh! He was such a terrible persona haha.
But if tpurenlooking for a fun book with just the tight amount of kink and sext time this book is for you. With strong leading characters. And a bit of fun and mystery thrown in to boot. You can't go wrong.
I give Seduced
I did not know what to think at first. It was a slow start. It did take a while for the story to unfold and to be honest, it was a little boring. I did stick it out and it was good by the Middle of the book. Ian is a sweet and strong alpha male. He is what he is and he knows what he wants. Tori is a little annoying and doesn't get it as quickly as i think she should. Age is just a number and Tori doesn't see it that way. She is self conscious and worries about what people see and think. She comes out of her shell and the ending has me wanting to know Fletcher more. He has such a small part in this book, but damn if it wasn't so good!! I
This book is one of the most original of its kind that I’ve read in a while. I thought I knew where Tori and Ian’s story was going but Kate Allure kept me guessing! I throughly enjoyed reading it and devoured it in only a couple of days. Tori and Ian’s story was very compiling and I liked all the sexy banter between them. Although I will admit I had to look up some british terms used in the book since I’m not British but I didn’t mind that. The only negative thing I have to say is that the epilogue was way to long and I would of preferred it to be a couple of chapters at the end of the book. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!
I fell in love with this story! Victoria is the staid, hair drawn back, proper judge! Ian is the cocky, handsome barrister, taunting her in her courtroom. Victoria's not getting any younger. She wants more! Her friend, Diana convinces her to be her guest at Club Exotica! "Tori" decides, sure, whynot live it up for a night. When in instant attraction hits her, she tingles all over, wondering what this masked gentleman might have!!! The masked man leaves, but can't forget her. I loved every little feeling this story provided, the warmth, the sexiness, and the sometimes anger toward Rupert. Cannot wait to read more!
This book had its ups and downs for me. The best part of the book was Ian King...he was all that a sexy, confident hero should be. He is the reason that I kept turning the pages. The most annoying part of the story is Tori mentioning her age every page. I just didn't get it. Her and Ian weren't even 10 years apart.
Tori was proud of what she had accomplished on her own, becoming a Judge in the Royal Courts. Unfortunately, she wasn’t happy relationship wise, her boyfriend was nothing to talk about in the bedroom. Tori tried to discuss the issue with Rupert but he wasn’t interested. She decided to break it off and check out Club Exotica where she meets a handsome, younger stranger. Sparks fly and she wants more, but can she trust him? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, steamy scenes and amazing chemistry. I loved it!
Kate's writing is very...alluring (pun intended!). Seduced does exactly what it says. The reader is taken on a journey. We are toyed with, teased, and given just a taste of the exotic. We are Seduced by the possibilities. We are enticed by our own desires. In short, only attempt to read this book if you have a way of releasing tension...😉
Seduced is a sexy rendezvous that makes the reader beg for more of the enticing offerings and of its hidden treasures.
I enjoyed reading this book because it featured an older woman. She is exploring her sexuality and getting out of a rut that she has been in with her boyfriend, who really isn't that interested in her, just wanting her in his life as a show piece. The chemistry between Tori and Ian is very hot. It was great reading how he breaks down her inhibitions and makes her realize just what a sexy and confident woman she really is. This is my first book by Kate Allure and I wasn't disappointed at all. This was a very steamy read. If you like Bdsm books, this is One to read. It's an Older woman / Younger man romance. My only issue was that at times I did find the Heroine quite naive. Some of the scenes were hard to read because of the issues involved (no spoiler) but all in all it was a good read. I can't wait for Sebastian story to come out.
