This short work is easy to digest and gives a broad overview of pilgrimage. It has more information about Christian pilgrimate and Christian sites, but does not forget pilgrimages from other faith traditions. I love the reading list and easy to reference guides to popular pilgrimage sites and media. I will use those for reference for future study.

My own motivation for reading this book is my parepairation for a pilgrimage walk on the Camino de Santiago. While this work didn't focus entirely on the Camino, I appreciated that it was included as an important journey. And having the tools and understanding to undertake any pilgrimage helps me to become better prepared for Camino along with any other journey I may undertake.
