The Clean Eating Kid is an invaluable resource for parents. This book shows that processed sugar has over 50 different names and is a major source of chronic inflammation in the body, which in turn causes a myriad of health and behavioral issues. I have personally reversed chronic inflammation in myself through Carr’s first book, Peace of Cake, but felt overwhelmed how to introduce clean eating to my children, thinking they would push back. My children like most, not only love sweets but also most of their common store bought food favorites are loaded with processed sugar. The Clean Eating Kid outlines easy steps to take to start the method with your children, starting with making the processed sugar swap first for ourselves as parents so our kids can see that clean eating does not mean deprivation. Her simple yet brilliant methods starts with getting your children involved early in discussions of their “whys” and what ways they want to change in their daily lives to feel better. Then giving them the job of “renegade researcher” for food labels looking for the over 50 names for processed sugar. Lastly providing many clean treats for them so they do not feel deprived. This section is where this book really shines, the entire second part of the book includes simple super market swaps for common kid-favorites, so busy parents can easily get our children familiar style snacks they love without the inflammatory processed sugars. As parents we want the best for our children, this book is a tremendous asset in helping busy parents give the best gift of all to our children, health.

I read Jenny Carr’s first book, "Peace of Cake: The Secret to an Anti-Inflammatory Diet" first and was given an opportunity to read her second book: "The Clean Eating Kid". Both of them I read as a digital download but I ended up purchasing both books since I plan on referencing them often and want them in sight as a visual reminder for myself. I feel as if, for me, reading her first book before reading her second was truly beneficial in order to help realize how easily this transition to clean eating can be. Both books are very informative about the top six inflammatory foods (processed sugar, wheat, cow dairy, GMOs, inflammatory oils and alcohol). Her first book gives a lot of recipes that can be made at home while her second book helps teach you about grocery food swaps for the toxic foods you currently eat. And since the food industry is always changing, she provides additional resources such as a Facebook group page and a website which lists current available food swaps. Honestly, it’s sad that a book like this is needed in order for us to find food that isn’t laced with toxins. It’s sad that the food industries can get away with being so sneaky with their labeling. Thank you Jenny for doing all of the research and presenting this knowledge in two easy-to-read books.

Every time I see my kids ask for a snack and then grab sugary cookies, bars, yogurt, cereal, chips, etc. my heart hurts a little. This is what I grew up on and continued to eat as an adult. Now I have the beginnings of an autoimmune disease and prediabetes. I believe that chronic inflammation is at the root. I don't want to watch my kids go down that same path. This is where Jenny Carr's book "The Clean Eating Kid" comes in. In this book Jenny Carr makes convincing arguments for why families should consider anti-inflammatory eating. She then tells you how to do it.

"The Clean-Eating Kid" includes a number of food swaps to help support an anti-inflammatory eating lifestyle. Carr provides name brand examples of crackers, pizza crust, chocolate, yogurt, cheese, ice cream, and more that all use anti-inflammatory ingredients. For someone like me who is tired of reading labels, I appreciate that Jenny Carr has done the work for us. Note that this book does not contain recipes. However, I have also read Carr's book "Peace of Cake", which has a number of great recipes including recipes for treats. I am glad that I read this book. It provides a clear realistic example of how parents can move their families to healthier eating and healthier lives.

Such an amazing & much-needed resource for anyone wanting to raise healthy children by feeding them healthful foods that they will enjoy! Not only does Jenny explain what anti-inflammatory eating is, she explains in a very inviting and easy-to-understand way, how to transition to a healthy, anti-inflammatory diet for yourself and your children. She includes step-by-step details on transitioning your children's' favorite foods to healthier versions, while also teaching your children how to recognize how different foods affect the way they feel. And the list of abundant food swaps offered make it easy to try out anti-inflammatory staple foods, snacks, and beverages, taking the guess work out of kick-starting the amazing transformation that lies ahead for you and your family! I highly recommend this wonderful, life-changing resource for a healthy, happy family!

"Do not miss out on this phenomenal resource written for all parents and caregivers! Jenny Carr goes above and beyond to explain the ins and outs of healthy food choices and how to shop for
anti-inflammatory foods that your kids will actually eat!
The Clean Eating Kid is the story of Jenny’s journey managing her own children’s health. She reflects on her personal struggles as a mom wanting the very best for her children’s health. These days the grocery store feels overwhelming and it’s hard to know which labels or food companies are trustworthy, not to mention, who has time to research? Well, Jenny does the hard work for you. She has tirelessly researched food companies and ultimately has found products that are delicious and high quality! Shopping for items to make healthy meals is now a breeze after reading The Clean Eating Kid!

Jenny Carr’s new book, The Clean Eating Kid, has really inspired me to try to adopt an anti-inflammatory lifestyle not just for myself but also for my 2 year old twin boys, who have severe allergies and eczema. I didn’t realize how much of an impact food/diet has on these sorts of issues. Jenny does a great job of explaining what inflammation is, how it affects our body, and what we can do to minimize/eliminate our chronic symptoms. The food swaps listed in part 2 of the book are a great resource to help find anti-inflammatory options at the grocery store. Between the food swaps in this book and the recipes in Jenny’s other book, Peace of Cake, anti-inflammatory eating seems like it can become a reality for anyone!

I've been a fan of Jenny's for a few months now and I'm thrilled she has a new book! I read Peace of Cake and had my mind-blown. And now this book goes further, taking those concepts and incorporating them first into your own life for a couple of weeks, modelling your actions and then introducing them to your family. Being a mother of two young ones, especially in today's world of a million and one choices in our grocery store food aisles - having a book like this to lean on and learn from is amazing! Jenny has a way of empowering you to seek, understand and take hold of your own health - essential for when someone is making a massive shift to change their life! And this book could quite easily change your life. Thank you Jenny!

"Jenny’s food swaps have proven pivotal in helping me gain control of my autoimmune disease. Some of my favorites are listed in part two of “The Clean Eating Kid” and include Rewind bars, Simple Mills Sea Salt crackers, Tinkyada pastas, GoRaw sprouted cookie crisps, Primal kitchen catsup and BBQ sauce, and coconut aminos, among others. These products are enjoyable, and I don’t have to worry about unwittingly harming my body when I indulge in them. Thank you Jenny Carr!"

Jenny Carr is on a mission to change eating habits for both adults and children. Carr’s first book, Peace of Cake, was instrumental in understanding inflammation in adults and what to do about it. Now, she conquers the diet and lifestyle of our most precious commodity, our children. This is a must-read for parents, grandparents, and all caregivers

I love there are personal examples of how changing what we put into our bodies can make a difference. The grocery store swap section is my favorite. However, I wish there would be a way to know what stores we might be able to find those items in.

What a great resource for parents, and really, everyone. The encouragement to just aim for eliminating processed sugar is broad but so simple. I'm looking at several anti-inflammatory books and all the do's and dont's are overwhelming and confusing. This seems practical in that you can cut out a big chunk of the problem, then go from there. I thought I was already a sugar nazi, but oh boy, here we go. I'm going to experiment on myself asap then move onto the kids! Also getting the hubby to read it as we need all hands on deck. It helps that it is so short and easy to read.

"Give yourself abundance rather than deprivation. As you move forward, tell yourself that you can have anything you want. You can make cookies and treats and snacks. Whatever you can imagine, you can make it or find it with non-inflammatory ingredients. It is this shift, the food swap, that will raise you up to a level of health you may have never before experienced. More importantly, these food swaps along with thinking thoughts of abundance, rather than depletion, will allow you to continue eating this way for a lifetime."

I have been looking for an anti-inflammatory diet that could last - I researched about 4-5 books this week and this one was a game changer. I immediately started drinking a gallon of water a day. Wow! Her reasons for needing water to flush out toxins was one thing, but I am usually never very thirsty. She explains why: our nomadic ancestors traveled, sometimes for days, between water sources. Our bodies adapted to shut off the water urge when that happened. Give yourself water first thing in the morning and voila! You get thirstier.
As someone who has been seeing a naturopath for my chronic constipation issue - three days in and that's gone.
Lots of gems in this book. Don't think it's just for kids, like I did. I am excited to keep doing this "diet". It takes some effort to get your pantry together for the food swaps, but I think it will be worth it.

Okay, I admit it. I don't have a kid and I didn't read this book straight through, just skimmed over it. To me it boils down to the chapter at the end that shows all the products you should be using instead of what you do. Never seen any of them. You'd have a hard time finding them and then paying for them once you did. I think it's true that it's more expensive to eat healthy. Also, kids can be really picky. Good luck getting them to eat the substitutes. Worth a read if you have a kid and/or are health conscious but I don't think it's at all practical. Then again, if your child needs the special diet... you can always just do the best you can.

This book didn't necessarily teach me anything new about anti-inflammatory diets, nor did it really delve into getting kids on board or kid friendly recipes (what I am desperately searching for). However, I will use the grocery store swaps at the back of the book, so I am appreciative of that.

Jenny Carr never cites her sources and has no credentials to back up her claims. This type of shoddy research is inexcusable.

The Clean-Eating Kid is an easy reading book that provides simple and practical ideas to help families attain a healthy eating lifestyle. Carr does not focus on current food pollution concerns but rather describes ways to achieve a clean eating approach and lists easy, available and kid-approved food swaps. Whether you're someone who has a specific health and wellness challenge or simply striving to find more healthy nutritional alternatives, this book would be a great resource.

I’m amazed at all the options there are for clean grocery store food swaps. Thanks to Jenny Carr’s book and enlightening information, we can be more equipped to take our health and our children’s health into our own hands. I’m the mother of a 23 year old who lives at home and makes his own choices, but I still have a lot of influence in the way I live my life and how I can equip him with the healthy options he sees our family make. Thank you so much for sharing your story and so much wisdom for us to succeed! My family is still enjoying the recipes from your first book in PEACE of Cake! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Read a few chapters that I felt like had the most impact on me and the swap out list at the end. Content gave a clear explanation as why to chose certain ingredients over others and I feel like this book would be very helpful to those trying to figure out where to start and a nice motivating refresher to those who may have started to fall back into old habits.

Although there are a few items I don’t 100% agree with, I’m more about lowering all carbs no matter the source and I think a few items had palm oil which I try to avoid, this is def a great place to learn how to swap the garbage out of not only your kids diet but your own. Would recommend.

Jenny Carr has done an amazing job with this book. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know. She does a great job of breaking down an anti-inflammatory diet in an easy to understand and easy to follow way. I love her grocery swaps at the end of the book.

Most importantly, I love how she shares her story of her struggles when her son was young with all of his health issues. I think it is very relatable and emphasizes the need for an anti-inflammatory diet.
