Rate this book
There's a little witch in all of us…

Ava López’s best friend from childhood is missing, and her former coven has asked for her help to find her. Despite all the pain the witches have treated Ava to with their rejection, she is determined to find Liv—even though her new allies harbor resentment.

Ava hopes finding Liv will put an end to the feud between the two groups, but she realizes that to help the witches, she must turn her back on the vampires. But this is the least of her problems.

Ava must choose sides and test loyalties with a decision that comes at a cost—one even Ava, with her ever-growing powers and connection to spirit magic, never could have foreseen. To repent for her disloyalty, Ava must bind herself to a dark promise. A promise no magic can break.

I was actually confused on what should I rate this. Yes I can't wait to read the next one but I also found myself skimming a bit with this one. I say this one was more like 4.5 stars. Towards the ending she dragged it out a bit I wish she didn't. I wished we knew more why her mother chose to trap her.

Ava can be so childish and reckless at times. It hurts Jasik he just wants her to be happy with him. Unfortunately she is always thinking about her witch family. Her witch family that has stabbed her on her back over and over. She constantly feels pulled between her two families. I'm crossing my fingers she can find a way to help both families and be happy.

Thankyou to barenakedwords and Danielle Rose for my arc in an exchange for an honest review.

REVIEW :

DISCLAIMER : Thank you, YA Bound Book Tours for letting me be a part of this tour and for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dark Promise is the third book in the Darkhaven Saga. Things are shaking up in Darkhaven. Eva is happy to be part of vampires, they are getting along and she also has settled in pretty well. When things are starting to look up witches enter the scene bringing in more problems and Eva being Eva wants to help them resolve the problems. Her loyalty is tested and she has to choose between her family who sent her away and her new family who took her in and supported her. Eva as a character is still an emotional teenager, acting often as a child would. Her decisions still make her the target and people around her are starting to get weary of her behavior. The magic she can harness is still new. There are some new players in town. Are they friends or foes? The only time will tell. There are some interesting developments in this book. I am still not shipping the romance. I don't really care for the flip-flopping inner monologue of Ava who seems to be always in a confusion with her feelings and emotions. The new characters bring in some intrigue and action. The witches and Vampires are still at odds despite Ava's good intentions to help them. I thought this book brought more excitement than the previous two books with some new interesting developments. The way the story ended in a cliffhanger of sorts making me want to know more about where the story is going. I am excited and interested in finding out how Ava and her group of vampires will deal with the exciting and shocking turn of events in this book. I gave the book 3.5stars. I think the story is getting interested and hopefully, we will get to know more about the magic and the limitations on witches and the hybrids. I would recommend this book to new-to-fantasy readers who would enjoy the simplicity of the story and the world. It was fun, engaging and entertaining to read and will keep you wanting to read more.

Sadly I’m DNFing this at 65%

The first book wasn’t bad at all, but it had been downward slope since then. Each book is so repetitive, like she pays the gargoyles head and redescribed every single room in each book and I’m honestly just so bored and don’t even care about the story anymore. I’m so annoyed. They had potential but I can’t get past the writing sadly.

Lets be real, i am absolutely loving this series. For me it is just so capitavating and i think the series as a whole so far is a solid 5 stars. And what a cliff hanger.... i mean i really did not see that coming!

So why did i want to give this book 3 stars? I have a bit of a gripe with the formatting of this series.
Firstly i want to point out that i don't limit myself with my budget for books. They are my life and i will continue to support authors, Danielle Rose included. However, despite what goodreads says this book is actually only 151 pages. It successors and predecessors are between 180-200 pages. Did this really need to be a 5 book series? the whole thing will barely hit 1000 pages, it could very easily have been a duology or a trilogy. Is that enough for me to drop a star. YES! They are all getting relased in the same year, they are all less than 200 pages on average and they cost $17 each. $85 for less than 1000 pages and they are paperbacks. i can buy the entire HP series in paperback for $65 and it would hit well over 3000 pages. Midnight Sun is 740 pages and was $22. I just don't see why the author did this. Had i seen the size of these books in shops rather than buying blindly on line i would never have bought them for the price.
This could have been released as a beautiful hard back trilogy and then i woukd have happily paid $85 but the way this has been done feels like its taking advantage of tge readers. This sounds mean but it feels like a marketing ploy.
I would be more forgiving if this was middle grade but its YA!

Sorry but its how i feel.

Will i continue with the series, of course but i can't deny this has made me a little angry.

In the third installment of the Darkhaven saga, the witches have arrived at the vampire's doorstep to ask Ava for help in finding her best friends. She's been taken.

But there's something not right about this. Ava has had a foreboding vision that this could be a trap. She doesn't know if it is or if she misinterpreted the vision.

As much as she wants to help them, she is forbidden from doing so. She has to turn her back on the witches and embrace what she's become...a vampire.

The question is: Is she the only hybrid vampire witch? Ends up a rogue vampire claims she's not the only one. Is he lying to her?

Rose leaves us on another major cliffhanger at the end that I didn't see coming. Now, we have to wait until the fall for book 4! It can't come soon enough.

I really love this series. Ava is like the Lisbeth Salander of vampire witches. Way better than that Twilight series with sparkling vampires and mortals falling in love with vampires and werewolves and...yeah. This is way better.

Woah... So starting this saga was a risk for me. I hadn't ventured into this genre much in the past but with each book in the Darkhaven saga, I seem to fall in love with the story, the characters, the author's ability to suck me into a plot filled with mystery and suspense.

In book three. Ava starts to feel like she finally belongs with the vampires, she's learning what it means to be a hybrid, but when her best friend ends up going missing, she is stuck on how to let go of her past when someone she loves is in danger. She finds out that she isn't the only hybrid, but is what she feeling real or is it a dream? Well, at first she thinks it's all a dream, but when she's out hunting, she comes face to face with another just like her.

What's going to happen? Will Ava be able to find her best friend? Who is this other hybrid? and what does it all mean? Well... You will have to read and find out!

Danielle Rose left me on the edge of my seat at the end of this one and I am eager to see what else she has planned for this plot. This was enticing and the author's ability to grab my attention has not let up since book one. The way the author is developing this plot and these characters has me completely obsessed, she is building and building and it's driving me nuts with wanting to know what happens next, but driving me nuts in all the right ways!

I can't recommend this enough!

Waterhouse Press kindly sent me a copy of Dark Promise and I am extremely thankful that they did! This series just gets better with each book. Dark Promise left off with some crazy things happening and I really need to know what happens next! In this book you really see how too trusting Ava is. It keeps getting her into trouble and she needs to get that under control. I still love her character but she can make some stupid mistakes sometimes. The slow burn romance in this book is making me scream and I just need them to be together already. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Not going to lie the ending of this book made me so mad. I can't believe Ava would be so head strung that she'd walk herself into a trap like that. Just when her and Jasik were getting closer too. I wonder if Amicia can feel that the oath has been severed? Gah Danielle better fix this in Dark Spell or I'm going to scream. I love this series. I can't wait to see what happens next with Ava and Darkhaven.

Last book left us with Liv in danger. Ava feels compelled to help free her. Liv was her best friend before Ava turned vampire and she feels a connection to her, even if it’s not reciprocated. She can’t stand the thought of Liv possibly dying at the hands of Rogues and is desperately trying to figure out how to save her.
Amica is the head of the vampire nest. She is trying to protect Ava and makes her swear a blood oath. This will prevent Ava from searching for Liv alone. She makes her do this because Amica has decided that the nest will not help the witches. This leaves Ava in distress.
Jasik is Ava’s sire. A blood oath should only be sworn between to a sire. When Jasik finds out that Amica forced Ava to do a blood oath, he is furious. Ava is his, but Amica is his sire and leader of the nest. This puts him in a precarious situation.
On top of all this, a new vampire appears. Will shows up to Ava in her dreams. He is a hybrid too, part witch, part vampire. He has learned how to handle both parts of his essence, Is he the answer to all of Ava’s questions? Only time will tell.
Opinion
I loved this book! There are so many twists that it is hard to guess what will happen next. I certainly did not predict how the book would end. I’m certainly (not so) patiently waiting for the next book in this series.
I’m a bit upset that I’m halfway through the series though. How can there only be five books. There needs to be more! Five is not enough!
Overall, there are so many subplots that I find it hard to pick my favorite. This latest edition in the Darkhaven series does not disappoint. It does leave me with lingering questions though.
*Can a witch/vampire forsake one side of their essence and embrace the other?
*Will Ava and Jasik ever give in to their desires for each other?
*Can the witch coven and the vampire nest learn to coexist, if only for the benefit of Ava?
*How does Will affect the relationship between Ava and Jasik? Will he become the new beau?
*How will Amica make it up to Ava (and by extension Jasik) for forcing her to do a blood oath?
*How does the final scene affect the relationships between Ava and: the coven, the nest and Will?
*How is Danielle Rose such a genius? I mean, really! This series is phenomenal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”After everything-the promises that were broken and the lies that were told, after I was forsaken and abused by the very people who share my life’s blood- I am still tethered to them.”✨
.
If you enjoy:
•YA Paranormal
•Vampires & Witches
•Continuing Series
•Amazing Cliffhangers
•First person narrative
Then this may be the book for you!✨
.
This series is becoming one I genuinely look forward to. With only a hint of romance and plenty of action, it’s the perfect read to escape into!✨
.
Ava is still struggling with who she is, who she can trust and where she belongs. She has an emotional bond with her sire Jasix and the intense feelings seem to go both ways... but even those are tested. This book seems to really focus on the relationships. Not just between Ava and Jasix, but between the witches and vampires too.✨
.
Ava continues to be reckless and impulsive, and it’s not just irritating the other vampires... She drove me a bit crazy too. This book had a bit of a slow start for me because of this... it feel a little repetitive. But in walks a new character who shakes everything up! Your heart will be in your throat.✨
.
The end of the book made every second worth it. This is the best cliffhanger yet in the series. I’m already full of questions and wanting the next book now! I highly recommend checking this series out if you enjoy YA paranormal!✨

I was provided an ARC for my honest review.✨

This is the third book in the Darkhaven Saga and it is not a standalone. Each book seems to just get better and better pulling readers into a labyrinth of intrigue and suspense. This book sees Ava finally finding her place in the world again but she is unable to truly let go of the ties that bind her to her past. It does not help matters when her former coven comes to ask for her assistance in finding her best friend who is missing. However, she is bound to her new life and although painful, she manages to let them down easy. Yet there is a new surprise coming when Ava finds out that she is not the only hybrid. Can this new person be trusted? How will his coming around sit with Ava’s vampire friends? Ms. Rose has once again brought readers to a precipice that they are left hanging on by a thread as this book ends in a cliffhanger. From the beginning, I was not able to put this book down. It is a storyline filled with drama that will enthrall anyone who gets a copy. It is one obsession that I cannot wait to see where these characters go next. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series! I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

Dark Promise pulls you in and gives you all you expected and more. Ava is finally feeling at home with the vampires, she has a sense of belonging she feels loved and comfortable with them and feels comfortable with herself that for once she is not having to do things out of obligation, but out of loyalty and want. Yet, her need to help those who are in danger or suffering is her downfall and weakness and the witches of her old coven who she still feels a strong bond to use that to their advantage and make Ava help them against the wishes of her Sire and Nest leader. Along the way, Ava finds she is not alone in having special powers as a vampire and seeks help from a new comer, but little does she know the help she seeks will actually be the demise of a part of herself and her new found friend while searching for an old one. Ava struggles throughout this story with so many emotions and feelings for her new vampire family and her old coven along with trying to find herself. We are left wondering what will be, now that a big piece of Ava is missing. Where will she truly fit in??

MC: 7/10 (She wasn't making good decisions and got on my nerves at times about how she wouldn't let go of her past and just be happy with what she was given)
Plot: 8.5/10 (It was a pretty interesting plot but at parts, it felt like it was taking too long to get to the point)
Overall I enjoyed the reading 😊
The last chapter's plot made me gasp out loud 🤯 I DID NOT see that coming (even though it felt like forever reading it)

I do not have words for this one. The story just gets better with each installment.

Ava faces more than one difficult decision that can change everything for her. Her best friend from childhood is missing, according to the witches. She doesn’t know if she can trust them, after all the rejections and hate.

One of the Vampires, that are part of her nest, made her do a DARK PROMISE. A Dark Promise that she needs to keep a secret.

Finding Liv can be the key to get the witches to trust her and the vampires. Looking for Liv will mean that she will be going against the wishes of her nest.

Ava accepted help from an unexpected visitor to Darkhaven.

The end will make you excited to read Dark Spell.

You will not be disappointed by the third installment to the Darkhaven Saga. A MUST READ for Young Adult, Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy lovers.

A well written, and an easy to read, book.

Official release date: 14 April 2020 – Preorder Now.

Ava is trying to accept that the witches want nothing to do with her but then they show up at the manor saying they need her help to find Liz. Amica says no as a way to force Ava’s hand and to try and cut ties from them. Things get weird when Ava visits the astral plane and realizes there is another vampire like her when there shouldn’t be. Will is a hybrid just like Ava who seems like he might be able to give her some answers. Things don’t go as planned and quickly escalate. I will say I did not see that ending coming and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Ava, Will, Jasik and the rest of the nest.

Ava story continues in Dark Promise. Her former coven wants her help rescuing Liv but her vampire family says she must choose. A dark promise made with Amecia prevents her from trying to find Liv. Ava will find herself in the battle of her life, is she strong enough to win?

This is a great addition to the Darkhaven Saga. This series has thrown so many changes into Ava’s life as she is coming into adulthood. Danielle has done an amazing job of making us feel all of Ava’s emotions as she finds her way in this new world. I love Jasik although he was not featured as much in Dark Promise. Can’t wait for book 4.

OMFG sooooooo much has happened in this third installment of the Darkhaven saga and I am on the edge of my couch! Literally! The betrayal, questioning loyalties, choosing sides- Ava has so much going on and to have this happen as she is getting more comfortable with being a hybrid and finally like she belongs is just too much! Add on top of that a romance we're all screaming to happen already. Danielle has really captured me with this series and I don't even know if 5 books will be enough to tell the full story. I need to know what happens next! It's not fair! 5 stars!

Dark Promise takes this series to another level! Each book is filled with new plot twists and surprises that I never see coming. Just when Ava is starting to feel comfortable with her new vampire coven, she discovers that her best friend has disappeared. Torn between the pain of how the witches have recently treated her, there's still nothing she wouldn't do for Liv. Definitely read each book in order, but hang on for a ride into a world that will have your head spinning. Beautifully written with wonderful characters, I love watching Ava grow into her powers through discovery.

Wow!! This series just keeps getting better and better!! We were left anxiously waiting for Dark Promise to see what happened next and it was worth the wait.

Ava is finally getting comfortable with the vampires and that she's a hybrid. There's so much going on in this book, like another hybrid and a missing friend, that you don't want to put it down. You're just going to have to read this amazing book to find out.

Danielle Rose is an amazing author!! I love this series and the story she's telling about witches and vampires. It completely sucks you in and leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next book this summer and see what's next!! I definitely recommend this book!!

Dark Promise

Ava’s journey as a vampire is getting more abs more confusing and difficult as it goes on. I would love for her and her sire Jasik to get together, but that seems to keep being put off. Now we have the right introduction of another hybrid into the mix and he has searched out Ava specifically because they’re the same, pulling her once again farther from Jasik. Ugh! And now Abuella has returned to Darkhaven ready to fight the against the vampires with ancient dark magic that strengthens the witches resolve! Can Ava’s journey ever get any easier?? I just can wait to dive into the next book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am still really enjoying this series!! In Dark Promise I did want to shake Ava though. I do have to remind myself she still has a teenager mind set and not to be too harsh on her. The bond between Ava and Jasik continues to strengthen I just hope this new found information doesn't start to destroy their bond. I am still not a major fan of Amica, but I am still trying to figure out if we are meant to like this specific character or not. I struggled to put this book down and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one!!!

Amazing! Ava is in a personal journey to find out who she is and how she fits into her new world. She meets several new people and has to figure out her own path in her new life. She has meant trials and tribulations to get through. She has to navigate who to trust and who to be weary of. It is very hard for her to give up on her coven for her nestmates. She grows a lot but is still a child in some regards

The storyline keeps you wanting to know what will happen next, but sadly she continues to make bad choice after bad choice. She comes off as a spoiled dramatic brat. At first, a story about a 16 yr old makes sense, but the story keeps finding ways to make it worse along with all the over the top dramatic situations that affects all characters. The other characters are under developed and continue to blindly support the main character no matter what.

Wow! I can not believe the new twist the story has taken. I did not see these things coming what so ever. I expected to get more about Ava and Jasik, which we did get a bit more, but it left me wanting more. A total page turner and just plain out addicting series. I am counting the days for the next book.

Danielle Rose has done it again! I didn't see this cliffhanger coming. Will comes to Ava in a dream. He's just like her. Half witch and half vampire. He's stronger than Ava and wants to help her find her friend Liv. But she has to leave her coven and Jasik. Will she find Ava or lead herself and Will to their peril. This part of the saga ends on an incredible cliffhanger.

This was another great book for this series. Ava is a strong character and I can't help but feel for her during her struggle. And who is this new vampire in the game? Where did he come from? Danielle is such a great author. Her books are so amazing and keep me on my toes. I seriously did not see the huge twist at the end of the book coming!

Ava is at a crossroads she is unsure what to do go with Will and find out who she really is or stay with Janik and the other vampires who have given her a home. Her choice may be the worse choice that she has every made...

Dark promise is exactly that, a promise to want to know more. Available has been fighting with understanding the magic within. When a mysterious person comes in, it starts to make more sense. Then it slaps you in the face again. The one person you cant stand, comes back and turns Ava's world upside down....again. great book, keep 'em coming!!!
