Ohio's State Route 666 stretches 14.7 miles between Zanesville and Dresden.

Most days it's just a normal road with a funny name.

But for six minutes on the 6th of June each year, Route 666 becomes a gateway to somewhere else . . . a gateway to Hell.

Each year thirteen unfortunates get trapped in the 666 underworld, with no way to get back.

This year though, things are going to be a whole lot different. For one thing, there's a lot of human passion at play in the underworld. And also . . . the psycho Al Gore is just about completing his collection of human heads.

And . . . what the hell is a church doing in Hell, of all places?

⚠️ I loved this book about a road that leads straight into Hell! ⤵️
(but really, haven't we all encountered so many bad drivers that deserve eternity in the Underworld? 😉)

I thoroughly enjoyed the authors imaginings of what Hell looked like and I could picture it perfectly in my head. It was frightening but also interesting.

The characters were mostly simple minded (and sex crazed -jeez!) and the story moved quickly with some good twists that I wasn't expecting. A clever and fun and, of course gory book that deserves 5⭐s!

Once a year, there is a glitch on a portion of Route 666 that opens to welcome unwitting humans into it's dark realm. Appropriately named 666, the hellish town has a black sun on one end and a pink sky on the other. Those eternally trapped in the claustrophobic helltown have many challenges to face. The evil Al Gorman lives in a white house on the dark side of town collecting human heads. Gargoyles and tentacled creatures are constantly on the lookout for human prey. The human citizens have turned prostitution into a legitimate profession to lighten the atmosphere and provide pleasure in a grim environment.

New people have just fallen victim to the wiles of 666 and its hungry demons. It is difficult trying to reconcile their fates and their new lives, and battles between the newcomers become violent as the tension rises. Is there a way to escape the seemingly airtight structure of 666 with its putrid river and unsavory creatures? When opportunities arise to further explore the darkness for a possible portal, slim chances of escape are planned. Meantime, there is plenty of blood to be shed and guts to be shredded. Kinky acts of pleasure abound, and no one truly knows their partners' intentions. Welcome to 666. Best of luck finding a portal back to the real world. One word of advise - if you do make it out, be sure to check you footwear. Trust me. The answers may be out there, but they may not be the ones that you seek. Godspeed.

Well this was an unusual book to say the least. We have a road, highway 666 in fact, that leads straight to hell and each year 13 unfortunate people are trapped to populate said hell. It’s interesting to see these different people as they go about their lives and then the confusion, fear and all out terror when fate deals them this abrupt and surprising turn of events.

It’s not just demons and monsters here either, oh no, there is sex (lots of sex and graphic descriptions) and gore (lots of gore and graphic descriptions), so you’ve been warned.

It’s an incredibly original story and an easy read with a fast pace and plenty of gore filled action (did I mention gore?) The writing is not bad, although the content of much of this is quite disturbing it is written in such a way as it seems light hearted and fun - maybe I’m not doing the best job of describing this.

Anyway if you like demons and monsters and hardcore sex and blood and gore in an exciting story-line then this is the book for you.

I liked it, it was fun but I can’t quite give it more than a 4*/5

Welcome to Hell (not Hell Hell, but maybe a top layer of Hell?) which has The Town of 666, population variable where there is sex, drugs, and people trying to stay alive. Then at the other side of Hell, which has the White House where Al Gore lives. Not Al Gore the former Vice President, but Al Gore, short for Al Gordon. Also full of Goyals, demons, and shadow things.
The characters were fun, and an original storyline that had some violence, blood, lots of blood, but also some laughs in it as well.
This was my first book by this author, and will most likely not be my last.

The Number of the Beast
Its number is six hundred and sixty six!

I'm on a highway to hell.
When i was a kid we would sneak down to the basement and watch late night Cinemax soft core porn. Those were the days. This was like the movie From Dusk Till Dawn on route 666. Sex. Gore. Sex. Gore. And gory sex.
A one day head shaking, cringey, and at times funny read.
Thanks to Farrah a goodreads companion for recommending this book.
I wont tell your mom about this book if you don't tell mine.

This was quite a ride! The sense of humor and writing were both sharp and clean and the characters, especially for a setting like this, felt real and interesting. If you are a fan of C.V Hunt and other splatterpunk darlings then I highly suggest you give this a read! You will truly enjoy it. Also THAT TWIST ENDING!!!!!!!

Oh look! Your leg has been chopped off.
Aaa...'tis but a minor flesh wound.

Okay, this book is definitely R-rated, or X-rated, or whatever they call gory, weird sex-filled stories in your country. The basis of the story is very good - a portal to a milder version of Hell swallows up unsuspecting motorists once a year where they stay for eternity, or until they are chomped up by a Gargle...um...no...GARGOYLE! I loved the concept, but unfortunately, there are more holes in the plot than an acre of Swiss cheese. At the very end, one person makes it back to Earth through a shimmery portal. At first, blue sky and clouds are seen through it, then it opens into a room in a laboratory. Then, not one paragraph further on, it opens into the back wall of a gas station. C'mon...be consistent!

Anyhoo...one star off for the plot holes, but overall, a compelling read.

666 is a story about where individuals from different walks of life suddenly find themselves in hell after passing by a highway on the 6th of June.
There’s supposedly an explanation as to why this happens, and I remember being amused by it but I’ve forgotten what it was =D

I find this book containing more gore than Wol-vriey’s other books. Some interesting scenes I find refreshing and stood out from the usual gore content:
- Duncan and the toilet bowl Monster
- Edie and the squiggly worms turned crustacean-like Monster

So far the books I’ve read from this author had a lot of gore inflicted on the human body. The exceptions that I really enjoyed were the “godly” creatures from Blue Nightmare and the jelly like Monster from WetBones. So it was nice getting to read some Monster gore again

That said, I didn’t enjoy this book as I did his others. I felt that the author’s strongest point is his ability to instil humour into horror. But this book just ain’t as entertaining as the others in my opinion. That said, I just want to insert something amusing here- it wasn’t really that funny but still a treasure nonetheless. “Taking the rectal temperature with a meat thermometer”. I hope my friends on Goodreads don’t judge me on this. Haha!

666 was a good read. The story moved at a quick pace instilling an urge to find out what happens next. At first the premises of the book seems hard to believe, but as you read on it becomes believable that a rift could open up for 6 minutes in June transporting a person to Hell. However, 666 lacked a main character. Each year a group of people find themselves on the 666 and have to accept the fact that they are trapped without a way out. Sex and death are the only thing the characters look forward to, while leaving personal growth very limited. Also the sex and murder scenes are not for the faint of heart. For the dark fiction horror lover, this book is a fun quick read.

I have always enjoyed books set in hell and this one was just pure fun. There was not a lot of character development but that didn't seem to matter to much, seeing how most characters die almost as soon as you are introduced to them.
On a stretch of highway at a gas station, people disappear when they try to pull back out onto the road. It happens every year on June sixth at six o'clock. Where they end up is 666. Not quite hell but not really purgatory either.
There's a bit of horror, some graphic sex and a lot of strangeness. This is the first story by Wol-veriey that I have read and I will be looking forward to others.

One of the best Wol-Vriey books I've read thus far. Loved the world that he created here and all of the twists and turns in the story, but I just wish that we got to learn more about this strange version of "Hell" and who created it. So many unanswered questions.

Despite my one complaint it was a great ride. I'm stoked that my first book of 2025 was a good one.

This was a thoroughly entertaining adult story, which I found to be both exceptionally clever and highly inventive. The journey: A regular American road trip suddenly becomes a one way ticket for travellers to town 666, which is part of the estates of Hell itself. For a clearer idea of life in this land of the black sun just consider the possible zones of being...Pink (Sex-Lust) - Torture - Mutilation - Black (Death) and all the outrageous, death inducing traps, trimmings and delights that could possibly exist within those 4 banners. Lots of great ideas, plenty of action, though the sex was rather explicitly OTT at times as it was mostly relayed as a pleasurable, gratuitous and promiscuous experience, rather than being torturous and unwanted, but the ending was once again both highly imaginative and unexpected - it will certainly make you think! This was a tale that successfully managed to convert potentially dark and disturbing adult material into a fun, interesting and addictive read starting from a Time-slip beginning until literally the very "END". Yes, I would strongly advise adults who might enjoy and appreciate a good, highly unusual horror story to certainly give this ago - so, as the demoness Hexis herself would no doubt say, "Read it - or be DAMNED!!" Rating:4.5 stars! (0.5 lost only as I found the sex slightly overdone and the characters themselves felt a little one dimensional at times).

Whew! Been a minute since I've been able to really sit down and read since the move. Love that the first read in a new place is by Wol-Vriey, a some time favorite now. (Seriously, at the risk of sounding super creepy and being served with a restraining order, I swear the timing his titles are released are just..uncanny. I'm rather hoping he takes that as a compliment and doesnt serve those papers I mentioned earlier. What higher compliment can you get then, I use your books to get me through the toughest of times? (Please change your mind about the restraining order haha)
Anyways, on to the book.. the only thing cooler to me then a wicked horror story is one that can make me laugh. Wol-Vriey has honed his skills and is one of the few authors that can have me cringing one second and laughing out loud the next. This results in the husband checking on me, and me starting from the beginning so he can enjoy as well. (He has insisted now that I share every new release with him, so two fans in one over here.)

The whole time I was reading this, the lyrics by the great Lemmy of Motorhead kept popping into my mind. "The answer to life's mystery Is simple and direct, sex and death." That about sums it up. One ghastly death scene after ghastly death scene. With overflowing sex in between. Even the sex is pretty ghastly. The macabre occurrences far over shadow character development plot points. This did flow along at a nice clip. For those who enjoy the more grim side of life.

Great fiction

A great read full of horrors and evil and goyles. A good story line with lots of characters and twists. Your kept enthralled with each chapter with the evil and bloodlust. The town 666 is a great side with all its residents all having there own horrors. Certainly different but a good welcoming change to the normal macabre stories.

that was different.

When individuals end up in 666 or Hell. Well, maybe not Hell, but between earth and hell or maybe not. Actually who the Hell knows where it is.

What the people do know about 666 is one wrong turn and you can be eaten by a Gargoyle or The Black Things. Maybe even killed by the psychopath Al Gore the only resident that lives on The Dark Side. If they stay on the Pink Side of 666 and do not venture to the Dark Side, they have a better chance to survive. The little town called 666 has everything you need, alcohol, drugs of any kind and prostitution which is legal and will never run out. I mean again it is Hell, or is it?

What’s a church doing in Hell?

This is such a fun read!!!
Rarely do I deliberately choose a story that focuses on demons and whatnot. I prefer reading about things that can and do happen in real life. I'm not saying that maybe there isn't a stretch of road out there that might open a portal to some demon's lair of hell, I've just never experienced it lol.
First of all, I'm a Wol-vriey fan. So reading the synopsis, I know I'd enjoy this one. There is so much detail put into this fictional world. Plus, there's violence. Sex and gore. What else could you want out of a book?

Be very careful all you folks who live in Ohio and have to travel Hwy 666. Don’t drive it on 6/6, near 6 o’clock, (666) near the Red Eagle Gas Station, between Zanesville and Dresden. If you do, you will find yourself in the town of 666. They have a very nice welcoming sign for you, “HELLCOME TO 666! POPULATION VARIABLE!” The people seem nice enough, but they are all stuck in 666, there’s no way out that any one can find. They try and be accommodating to the new people that show up once a year on 6/6 at 6pm. The townsfolk explain what has happened to them, lay down some basic rules and regulations, find them a house, car, job and money. They also give information about how to stay alive. There’s a lot that can kill you in 666, gargoyles, black things with lots of tentacles, demons, and hotel rooms or houses with the number 6 are haunted and deadly. There’s also a guy named Al Gordon, Al Gore for short, who lives in a white house. Al thinks he might have found a way out of 666 but he had to borrow a book from the local demoness. Volume 666 of the LOTUS—the Library Of The Unholy Sciences. In exchange for payment, of course, and payment is deadly for the locals. I love the characters names, and the play on words throughout this book. There’s sex, violence and blood, lots of blood!! There is great character building and fantastic backstories. There are some fun easter eggs throughout the story for people that have been reading past books, you really should be reading past books, they are awesome. The ending is amazing, there will definitely be more adventures with some of these characters or I truly hope so!!

When a group of travelers finds themselves in Hell it becomes a game of survival. Who survives? Who meets a very bloody end?

Welcome to Hell but not deep into Hell. The town of 666 is a town in Hell, which to me was a really interesting concept. The way the world was set up and laid out was very visual however I know this is one place I would not want to visit or be caught in. With each turn of the page, you are meet with sex, gore and more gore at times deaths were obvious but other times it was a complete surprise but don't let that stop you from reading.

It is hard to say more without getting spoilery but if you don't mind a lot of lawlessness when it comes to sex, gory deaths, and murder then pick this book up you will not be disappointed. I loved the ending of this book; I will admit I actually laughed. It really reminded of an ending to a well-known movie but in a very depraved way. This was such a bloody good read.

Huge Thanks to Wol-vriey for sending me your book and allowing me to enjoy this very depraved world.

A Hell of a Time

A little piece of hell, for anyone caught on the wrong road at the wrong time. A collection of bad people, doing bad things and having bad things done to them.
Blood, gore, betrayal and monsters.
I felt like the story ended too quick and could have included more backstory, but it was a quick entertaining read.

This book was great! The town of 666 is definitely a true nightmare. This book gets a little cheesy at times, but the scenes of action and gore definitely make up for it. I recommend for sure!
