This book was extremely helpful. It describes all the Cities, Areas, and Routes with detail. This copy of the Pokèmon Sword and Shield shows the location of Points of Interest in all locations of the normal game. It also marks all of the Items, Hidden Items, and Trainers located in the area. When battling a major character it shows all members of their team and what type each pokèmon has. For Gym battles it shows the pokèmon the Leader has and what strategy they use. In areas where you can catch pokèmon it shows what pokemon you can catch and how frequently they appear. At the back of the book it shows information about moves, abilities and items. After you beat the main game it will take you to the post game events where you can catch the box art legendary for your game. In the third part of the book it will teach you helpful hints on how to catch, train, evolve and battle with pokèmon. It teaches you how to use certain abilities and moves to their greatest effects. Like the move thunder wave which is usually slow but paired with the ability prankster makes it move first every time. Abilities can affect everything from stats to the weather. The weather you are in affects the battlefield and how certain types are boosted while others are weakened. It also talks about how certain moves are better than others because they deal damage, boost your pokèmon, weaken other pokèmon or inflict status effects. Status effects are special conditions that can negatively affect the afflicted pokèmon. Like paralysis can stop a pokemon from moving or burn, dealing damage while weakening the afflicted pokemon. In the last part of the book it talks about ways to earn money to spend on clothing, items and haircuts. This section also has price lists, effects and locations of where to buy items, clothing, pokèballs and haircuts. The last page has a type chart to help you plan your battles.

The only thing this lacks is a pokedex, but with 400+ pokemon it would have been too much for one volume.

This book is the official guide book for both the games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. It has a complete walkthrough through the story and gives tips and tricks in the games. This book is not the most thrilling of reads especially if you have already played the games. This is expected considering considering the title of the book. But the book has plenty of information such as what places a specific Pokémon can appear and how rare the Pokémon can be found. This book has battling tips and reveals hidden secrets. I would use this book if I wanted to know where to find a specific Pokémon. I also use it to keep track of Pokémon egg groups.

Chock-full of information on the new Sword & Shield Games, I cannot wait to buy the Pokedex book to have the perfect combination of information..

I live in a basement, and the internet tends to get lost on me...but having this book I don't have to worry about a lot of things when i want to know information about items, or the map.

Wal-Mart was hella slow- so I nearly beat the game before they mailed me my book.


The decals, bookmark, and other goodies are a nice touch too.
