There’s something about the scent of blood from the undead.
In the heat of battle, hybrid Ava López discovers she has new and fascinating powers, but she does not know how to control them. Though her former enemies have offered her refuge and helped her acclimate to the vampire lifestyle, even they don’t understand her enhanced magic.
With mounting threats from Ava’s former coven and reckless rogue vampires, Ava and her new friends have no choice but to request the wisdom of Holland Taylor to help her understand her powers. Holland is one of the most powerful witches Ava has ever met, and he is also Jeremiah’s ex, which introduces another wrinkle.
Tension between the vampires and Ava’s former coven is building, and when the witches offer a deal Ava would be remiss to reject, she is forced to choose between the life she once considered safe and the life she never wanted.

I couldn't put this book down that I read it within 2 days. This series is YA which I'm crossing my fingers that we get a kiss atleast please. Poor Ava is stuck between the family she was born into (witches) and reborn her vampire family. I'm happy she still tried to help her mother. In a Spanish household we're raised no matter what our parents say or do we must take care of them always.
I feel at times Ava needs to take a second to think. She always reacts first even in her fights and then she realizes she was set up. I can't wait to read the next one I'm addicted to this series and need to know what happens next.
Thanks to Danielle Rose and barenakedwords for sending me the arc in an exchange of honest review.
I went into this saga not knowing what to expect. It's not my usual kind of read, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone a bit and I am so glad I did. Ava's story is something that has consumed my mind. I'm so intrigued by this girl.
Ava is struggling between her family she was born into, the witches and then her new reborn family, the vampires. After finding out she is both witch and vampire. She's trying to protect her witch coven, even when they want nothing to do with her, this is becoming seemingly hard for her. It's a tough situation for any person to be in, let alone a young girl. She still cares for her mother and family but she's also started being accepted by her new group. She's learning to powers, and working out what these powers do and mean. She needs to figure out where she belongs... While this is all happening. Her and Jasik connection only intensified and strengthens. I couldn't help but smile. I'm cheering for these two. They seem perfect. But time will tell on how this is all going to fall into place for Ava and her life.
Danielle has become a fast favorite, I love her way with words and how easy she makes it lose myself in them and that's what I did with Dark Magic and also Dark Secret (Book one, which I highly recommend reading before this). I've been completely spellbound since I started this saga. I honestly was not sure if I would even be able to get through something in this genre but to my surprise, I am LOVING IT!
This saga is a page-turner and has consumed me from page one, and continues to hold my attention. It's enchanting, addictive, It was extremely well written, the character build-up and overall development are on point and it all just seems to fall perfectly into place. I read this in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.
and that ending? Gah!
I cannot wait to see what Danielle has in store for us next!
DISCLAIMER : Thank you, YA Bound Book Tours for letting me be a part of this tour and for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Dark Magic is the second book in the Darkhaven Saga. The book continues from the first book after some time period. Eva is still hotheaded and impulsive. She is dealing with a lot of emotions. She is struggling with the loss of her coven, being a vampire and her new magic powers. She is also dealing with training to fight and living with the same people she was brought up to believe were her enemies. I think the story was progressing nicely, we get to see more of the characters introduced and how they all interact with one another. There are some new turns in this book and the way things are going we will be seeing more of these characters and the conflicts between the vampires and witches. I am still not a fan of the romance angle in the book and Ava's character hasn't changed which leads to more questionable decisions that put others around her and herself at risk. I gave the book 3 stars and hope we get more of character development for Ava and see her become someone who is responsible and smart in her choices. The story was good and entertaining. It's engaging and simple which I liked. Overall I think it would be a good story to read for new fantasy readers who are looking for something light and fun read.
After living a few weeks with her new vampire coven, she still feels compelled to run back to her old witches coven, the one that kicked her out after she turned. It's difficult leaving a family that is the only one you've ever known for a new one. It's difficult understanding that your family does not want you anymore. You have to stay away.
That is the problem Ava is having in book #2 of the Darkhaven Saga. While she grows to learn how to be a vampire and get her newfound powers under control, she still has that hope that she can return to her mother and her coven once she masters being a vampire that will not harm anyone.
She does not understand that she is forsaken. She can never go back to her family. This is a difficult lesson for her to learn at this time. But she doesn't stop running back home every time the rogue vampires attack the witches. She is trying to show that they can work together, vampires and witches. There is no need for this feud. There is no need to be enemies. She is trying to be the difference by showing them that both sides can ban together...even if that means leaving her new vampire's coven to prove it.
This story is getting more and more interesting. The book leaves you with a cliffhanger at the end to prepare you for book #3. I hope that in the end of this saga, Ava will be able to accomplish everything her heart leads her to.
Omg I need more. I love the new revelation that has become of Ava. Finding out that not only is she a vampire but part witch and having the powers of both is amazing. Finally her new group is accepting her and she's finding her own. The electricity between her and Jasik is wonderful and I hope it progresses. The ending of this story was just wow. I can't stinking wait for the next part in this saga!!!
Dark Magic is the second book in The Darkhaven series by Danielle Rose. Once again Danielle has done an amazing job!! Ava is still adjusting to being a vampire, trying to protect her witch coven who wants nothing to do with her from a threat, learn how to use new powers she has acquired and figure where she truly belongs. I suggest you read the first book in the series. This book is a fast paced page turning must read. I highly recommend it!!
Deducting half a star for the excessive repetition throughout the first half of the book used to catch up any new readers to the series as to what took place in the previous (first) book.
OH MY GOD! who would of thought the 2nd book book in the series culd possible be just as good if not even better than the 1st book?! This series is absoultely a MUST read! this is the 2nd book in a 5 book series. I can not possible wait to continue reading this series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 “A spark of attraction flows between us, tethering his soul to mine.”✨ . If you enjoy: •YA Paranormal •Continuation Series •Page Turners •Vampires & Witches •Singular POV Then this may be the book for you!✨ . I was so immersed in this story, I feel like I just took a trip to Darkhaven! And what a great escape it was! This page turner had me from the very beginning! A quick and easy, enjoyable read! Full of mystery and action. And a great deal of feelings.✨ . Ava is still finding her way with her new life as a vampire when she learns she has some new powers. It leaves her reeling. Unsure about herself. Or her place with the vampires. Still dealing with betrayal from her old coven and now needing the help of a stranger. All while under threat. One thing she does know is the electric connection she feels with her sire Jasix. But even that gets questioned.✨ . This book didn’t leave me wanting, other than wanting more! You feel what Ava is feeling right along side her. Her emotions are heightened and scattered as a new vampire. You feel her hurt, doubts and fear. I absolutely adore the side characters. They really just add to this already great story. But the connection between Ava and Jasik is the best. It just warms my heart and makes me want more!! They are fighting an undeniable connection that has me hooked! It’s the perfect hint of romance. I am really looking forward to seeing where this story goes!!✨ . Dark Magic is Book 2 in The Darkhaven Saga Series! You need to read Book 1- Dark Secret as this is a continuation series that ends in cliffhangers (great cliffhangers).✨
This is the second book in the Darkhaven Saga and it is not a standalone. If you love vampires, witches and other paranormal stuff then this is for you. It picks up where the first book left off and it will consume you like the clouds of a fog rolling off the cliffs until you are fully enveloped. Ava is coming to terms with being a newborn vampire and being rejected by her coven, repeatedly. At seventeen, she is trying to do the right thing for everyone involved as there are rogue vampires that are attacking. It boils down to a question of where does Ava’s loyalty lie. Is she going to side with her newfound family that will be by her side or will she continue to go to war for a coven that wants nothing to do with her? Add in the growing feelings Ava has for her sire Jasik, which may or may not be reciprocated in the same way, and readers will just have to see what develops….On a final note, there is one HECK of a cliffhanger that is not to be believed that will have readers saying the same thing as Ava does in the story. From the beginning, this is one page turning, stop everything and stay in the chair until finished read. I look forward to what this author has in store next! This is one series to download asap! I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book
I absolutely adore the Darkhaven Saga. The Author kept my attention through every chapter.
Ava Lopez, a recently changed vampire, was part of a witch coven in Darkhaven. The coven kicked her out, after her transformation.
Now living with vampires, who once were her enemy. The vampires have changed her mind about them. Not all vampires like to kill the innocent, except for the Rogue vampires. The Rogue Vampires causes problems for both the witches and the Vampires (the clan of Ava). The Rogue Vampires are out there to take revenge on Ava.
Ava started to experience change in her body and mind. The change can connect her with her previous life. Magic is starting to become part of her again. The vampires have a very powerful witch friend that will assist Ava to take control of her new magic. Magic isn’t the only change in Ava.
Given a choice. Witch Family or Vampire Family.
Family is the people who accept you for who you are. Family is not determined by blood.
Will the witches and vampires ever unite? Or are they too stubborn?
The twist at the end will make you excited to read Dark Promise.
You will not be disappointed by the second installment to the Darkhaven Saga. A MUST READ for Young Adult, Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy lovers.
Dark Magic is another page-turning novel in the Darkhaven Saga. Ava and Jasik are still trying to figure out a way to stop the rogue vampires when Ava discovers new capabilities as a hybrid. The book keeps you on your toes and makes for a great read.
The book starts off at a suspenseful moment that is dangerous for both Ava and Jasik. These hectic and stressful moments bring about the realization of Ava's capabilities as a new vampire. Ava is unlike any vampire that Jasik and Amicia have ever seen.
Ava is going through a lot and would have normally sought out refuge from her family and closest friends, but those people are the ones looking at her with repulsion.
So many events have made her think about one question: "Can her family, coven, and friends ever see her as the Ava she once was?"
I give Dark Magic 5 stars. It is a thrilling and suspenseful read that can easily be read in one sitting. I highly recommend reading book 1 in the series before reading this one so you can get a chance to understand the series better.
Danielle Rose has done it again! I cannot get enough of the Darkhaven Saga. If you did not read the first book in this series, then you need to read Dark Secret or you will be a little confused to how our main character has landed where she is.
Ava is adjusting to her new life as a vampire. She has so many questions about all these new changes in her life and so much is happening all around her. This story and the action build up quickly in this second installment. She has these intense feelings for her sire Jasik and I mean who could blame her though right? From his description in this book and the previous, he is all man!
A witch has come to help the nest and Ava must deal with very conflicting feelings as well as dealing with her feelings about her old coven.
I really loved this book and I highly suggest the series. Danielle Rose is phenomenal writer and her stories flow seamlessly. You will experience another cliff hanger in this addition, but you'll love every second of it.
This is the second book in the Darkhaven Saga. If you have not read the first book, Dark Secret, stop where you are. Do not proceed. Turn around quickly. You must first read book one before learning about book two. Synopsis Ava is adjusting to her new life as a vampire. Things build up quickly in this book. She has strong feelings for her sire, Jasik. She learns that her magic didn’t leave her when she transitioned to a vampire. Another witch has come to help the nest. Ava must deal with her feelings toward her old coven that are not reciprocated. It seems that Ava can’t win for losing in this book. To top it off, it ends in a cliff hanger that makes you want to scream. My Opinion Plot line was on point. (See what I did there? Plot your points, har-har-har! Sorry, math teacher humor.) I think that even though there was a lot going on, it was not too much. The story flowed well. Personally, I’m ready for Ava and Jasik to start something. There was a scene that was so well written that you forgot what was going on around them, much like the characters did. (Wait until you read that scene! You’ll be telling Ms. Rose that she can’t stop things like she did.) However, nothing serious did happen between the two. The suspense is killing me here. I liked the introduction of the witch, Jeremiah. He added a nice touch to the story. It helped to show Ava that she wasn’t crazy and that witches and vampires can get along. He even helped Ava with learning to control/harness this power. I really would have liked to have seen part of the story through Jasik’s POV. The whole thing through Ava’s was fine but to me, I felt like I was reading a monologue as some early points. Going through Jasik would have broken the story up some. Who would I recommend this to? Absolutely anyone into the following genres: young adult, paranormal, vampires, witches, romance (not much action) This saga has exceeded my expectations so far. We are only two books in and I have high expectations for Waterhouse, so that’s saying something. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is a great series. Thanks to the people at Waterhouse Press, Danielle Rose and Claire at barenakedwords for providing me with an ARC of this book.
I read the first book and now I can’t get enough. I love the electric love between Ava and Jasik. It’s fire and it’s amazing. The way they are progressing and the strength that they give to each other is incredible.
After Ava finds out what could be the biggest secret of her life that she’s a witch and vampire, she’s protective of her witch coven. I do feel she’s a bit still on edge and she needs to think before she just goes right into a fight. Although being both could be an advantage. I love that I couldn’t put this down. And I’m glad I’m reading out of my norm because if I didn’t read this I would have regretted it.
Thank you Danielle Rose and barenakedwords for sending me this arc and giving me the chance to read this incredible story.
Ava’s journey is just getting good ! The stronger she gets as a vampire, she also taps into the fact that she still has her witch capabilities too. Being a special hybrid is untapped territory and Ava needs the help of her new family, her sire Jasik, and the only witch she can now count on, Holland to help her harness her magic and become the powerful vampire she can be. Also her growing attraction to Jasik needs to be addressed soon. He’s becoming more then just her sire now, but with all the battles they’ve been fighting they never have time for any self discovery in the love area. Still the action in this book is nonstop and I’m anxious to see what happens in the next book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Danielle Rose has taken everything we thought we knew about witches and vampires and shaken them all up to create a new paranormal world. I’m really starting to love all the vampires in Ava’s new family. They are supportive and kind to her and seem to really want her to succeed. Not much of a fan of Ava’s former coven at the moment but who knows where that will go. The author has a taken a young woman who is learning to be an adult and finding that all your beliefs may be wrong. Ava has to struggle to grow in so many ways. I am really enjoying this series and looking forward to following Ava’s adventure.
I loved Dark Secret and I loved Dark Magic even more! Danielle amped up the story with more action, suspense, and drama. Ava and jasik's chemistry intensifies and she is having a difficult time adjusting to her new life. She is also battling with herself when it comes to her coven family. They may have betrayed her but she feels compelled to still help them. She's a young, strong woman who is forced to grow up and face making hard decisions. She is still learning her powers and how to control them, especially since she tends to act first before thinking. I am enthralled so far with this series and I can't wait for more when Dark Promise releases!
Waterhouse Press was kind enough to send me a copy of Dark Magic and I am so thankful that they did! I loved this book and this series so far. The books in this series are quick and fun reads. I still love the characters and the reveals that were in Dark Magic were amazing. I read this book in one sitting and I just couldn't put it down. My only complaint is the same as with the first book. I just wish things were a bit more flushed out and a bit longer. I just want more time in this story. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
The connection between Jasik and Ava is getting intense. There is more fighting with rogue vampires while none of the supernatural can see eye to eye. This book is a page turner and was so hooked from beginning to end. All I can say is wow and that I can't wait for the next book. I want to know what will happen with Jasik and Ava. It feels like something ominous is coming but what? Ava keeps mentioning her Papá but what happened to him? I have lots of questions but in a good way. I can't wait to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
Holy cow!!!!!!!! Why oh why??????? These cliffhanger kill me but I love them at the same time. I have so many mixed emotions right now and my head is spinning. I have a filling there is a love triangle thing possibly happening but not 100% . And I love that you Ava powers most vampire stories they are a vamp or a witch or another supernatural never both. I am so excited to see that you let her be both!!!! I was not prepared prepared for all the suspense that this book has !!! It is amazing. I cant wait to let my 15yr old read it. Amazing job!!!!! Now its hurry up and wait for book 3.

The DarkHaven series has grabbed ahold of me and won't let go! Dark Magic is the second book in the series, so if you haven't read the first, do that. Lol It sends your emotions in many different directions. I was scared at one point Ava was right. So I tried reading sloooowwwwly.... didn't work. I got to the end much faster than I wanted to. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the 3rd book. If the entire series was in my hands, I'm sure it would only take a couple days to read it ENTIRELY. That's how good it is.
OMG what a way to end this book! This book is off to an amazing start & I love every minute of it! What will Ava & her vampires get up to next? Will there be peace with the witches & rogue vampires? I can’t wait for book 3!
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down! I’m hooked on Ava & her vampire family. I love the budding relationship she has with Jasik & how they are all starting to trust her. What other kinds of things can she do that the rest of the vampires can’t! Start this series today you won’t regret it!!!
I received an arc in exchange for my honest review!
I'm loving the Darkhaven series!! Ava is struggling to adjust to all of the changes in her life. She's still trying to protect the family she lost and getting used to everything with her new family and her powers. This has been an amazing series so far!! Danielle Rose has given us a different outlook on witches and vampires. I get pulled into each book and they're definitely page turners. I look forward to the next book and the others to come. I highly recommend this series to everyone but make sure you start from book one!!
This book was soooo good. I loved everything about it. When I first picked up this series I had no clue what to expect but after reading the two books that are out I’m completely hooked!
Ava will blow your mind in ways that I just can’t tell you. But what I can tell you is that I was captivated, hooked line and sinker and if you love paranormal and are okay with Ya then this is a #MustRead For you!
5 stars Danielle! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And let’s just take a minute to say, THAT ENDING? Can I just have the next book NOW please! ❤️
Dark Magic is the second book in the Darkhaven series by Danielle Rose. Danielle continues to combine the worlds of witches and vampires than you could have ever imagined! I don’t usually read young adult, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give this series a chance and I have yet to be disappointed!! Ava continues to grow as a vampire and is a strong lead character. Absolute page turner!! The ending was out of this world and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3!!! 5 Amazing stars!!!
Dark Magic is the second book in The Darkhaven series by Danielle Rose and you must read these in order because they are not a stand alone. This book is a paranormal fans dream! Vampires, Witches and magic come together to give you one heck of a story.
This book had me hooked right from the start. The way book 1 ended I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one and it did not disappoint. Full of suspense and twists and turns from start to finish you will want to one click asap!
If you haven't read Dark Secret, book 1, you must do that first to understand Dark Magic. Ava is a witch turned vampire, but Danielle Rose had something even more in mind for the seventeen year old when she wrote this. Ava is a very unique individual, forced to choose between her former family and new, and when she is cast out a second time by her own family, the decision is not hard to make. She wants nothing more than to show that both supernatural species can help each other out, but seems to fail. But when the witches come to her for help, will she?
