In order to capture a charismatic, maniacal evangelist, FBI agent Jim McGruder must penetrate his ranch and bring out two possible witnesses--an innocent man and a little girl whose angelic demeanor belies her evil nature. Original.
A deathly dry sub-Dean Koontz "supernatural thriller" terminally lacking in both imagination and thrills. There are enough good ideas in here to potentially produce an entertaining page-turner, but this sure isn't that.
I loved this story when I read it a decade ago. It was a thriller with just enough hints of the supernatural to keep things off kilter. The child being pursued by the unsavory powerful people is really put to the test and comes through despite all. Ms Forrest kept me glued to my seat with solid writing and didn't bog things down with endless narration. The prose was highly engaging.
This book is part of my prized collection and I highly recommend it if you can run across it. When it is available here on Amazon, I strongly urge you to pick up a copy. It rivals anything her contemporaries like Dean Koontz or John Saul were putting out at the time.
