"The moon lights the darkness with what little she is given."
Two things are certain in life, time and love. Anatomy , the debut book of poetry from Karina Vigil, explores the relationship between these two certainties.
This small collection of poems explores how time influences loving another, loving yourself and loving the life you own.
These topics are explored in three the head, the heart and the lungs.
"The moon knew what it meant to fall in love with the sun, But she did it anyway. So what if we part? She thought, I’ll never forget the days that I shined."
Great read with some very unique and beautiful poems that were very relatable to my own life.. It's also a relatively quick read. I highly recommend it!
This was my first go at reading poetry since high school. I felt this collection was the perfect combination of heavy & uplifting. I found it quite relatable & I think it’s a great collection for someone that is just getting into poetry!
I had a difficult time connecting to the content consistently. The writing just didn't seem to be placed correctly for me. Imperfect Timing and The Birth of Waves were the two I did enjoy. Perhaps just not my preferred style or theme.
I am making it a goal to read at least one poetry collection each month this year. I found this collection randomly on Pinterest, and loved that she is a fellow Canadian. This collection is divided into three parts : head, heart & lungs. I few had me tearing up, you could feel the emotion and memories through her words. I’ll definitely be reading more if she publishes them! Just lovely.
I didn’t think I could enjoy poetry, but these poems proved me so wrong. It was such a lovely collection, I especially loved the passages about the moon and the sun, they were so romantic. The collection was reflective, funny at times and full of heart. I’m so happy I stumbled on this book, and I definitely recommend it to poetry newbies like myself.
Beautiful volume of reflective poetry with some lovely turns of phrase and introspective moments. I found some pieces personally relatable, and others provided insights into the author’s unique experience, which I enjoyed. This was an impulse buy for me, which is how I like to discover new poets. I’ll definitely be rereading it and will be looking forward to the next collection!
A beautiful poetry collection that uses anatomy or the body to break up each part. The poems were impactful and easy to understand. Some of the metaphors were really well done. One of the best ones was the first poem in the collection. It's called Reflection. Overall it was a wonderful collection that I highly recommend if you enjoy contemporary, free verse poetry.
The poetry is written beautifully and the word choice is stellar, it's just a shame that I can't follow the purpose or main theme in this. I found it difficult to follow, or maybe it wasn't meant to be a beginning-to-end poetry book.
This collection is divided into 3 parts: the head, the heart and the lungs. Wasn’t able to relate to all of the poems but I was still able to appreciate them.
