A general overview of Embroidery History

This book is a nice overview of embroidery history. There are a few quickie demonstrations of different techniques. And a few sources of design. Different materials such as wools, hair, silks, cotton, metal thread, etc., are quickly covered.

The chapter titles may hold a clue to if you want to purchase this book:
Materials, techniques, and design
The purpose
Materials
The use of found objects
Techniques
About primitive designs
Where to look
How to look
Some ways of making a design
Methods of designing
The case of the ‘already perfect design

The book contains color photographs and monochrome sketches. The is nothing to make this book stand out from the crowd. However, if you dig deep enough you may find an overlooked gem.
