Divine Adoption is a book on the foundational doctrines of Christian faith such as what does it mean to be born again? Why did God create mankind in His image? What does the future hold for the children of God? What did the death and resurrection of Jesus achieve for mankind ? Although tons of books have been written on each and every topic mentioned above, the author here brings a fresh light in terms of how Christian faith is unique in the hope it offers. While Eastern pantheistic world view presents escaping from the materialistic world and becoming one with the impersonal universe as the ultimate salvation experience and on the other hand most of the monotheistic religions offer ‘escaping hell and going to heaven’ as the ultimate salvation experience, the author argues that Christian faith is unique in proclaiming that the materialistic world is not something to be escaped from but to be redeemed and ultimately glorified. He lays out the scriptural foundation for the same. He explains how the word ‘Adoption’ used in Pauline epistles carries a different meaning from our usual understanding of the legal Adoption. The word Adoption means ‘presentation of mature sons’ which ultimately is tied to the redemption of the physical world to the point of being glorified. It is a good read to see the ‘big picture’ of the creative and redemptive purposes of God. Even though It is a book with very less number of pages, the content is dense and it requires a slow reading and meditation exercise on the scripture portions that are mentioned. It will be a good material to do a bible study by slowly going through the scriptures in its context. Although the content is heavy, the author has used simple language making it easy for everyone who is willing to delve into the subject of the purpose of mankind being created in the first place. -------------- - Introduction - God and Man - Adoption – the Why of Creation - Zóé - the Uncreated Reality - Why Did Jesus Come? - Adoption through Jesus Christ - Resurrection is the Gospel - Born of God - More on Huiothesia - The Righteousness that Reigns in Life - The Hope of Salvation - Sons of Light - What is the Heavenly City? - Where do Saints go After they Die?
