An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premiere destination for murder. My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds—not every mind, not every time but most of the time and believe me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.A seminar on how to catch the perfect man is being held at the Country Cottage Inn—but with a killer on the loose, the only thing in store for the guests is a lesson on murder. Not only do I have another homicide on my hands but Jasper’s ex is in town and she’s looking to take back what once belonged to her. It’s October in Cider Cove. There’s a fright around every corner—and a killer closer than I'm willing to believe. Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.

Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it’s the premiere destination for murder.

The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.

I like the second of the Cozy Cottage Mysteries a lot more than I liked the first one. Bizzy is a much more solid character, and the outside interference to her relationship with Jasper (his ex and his mother) brings them together and makes them seem like a much more solid couple. My favorite parts are still the voices of the dogs, and adorable puppy Peanut is a great addition to the story. If he were real, I'd be in line to adopt him. The mystery itself is average, but there are plenty of suspects and red herrings to keep armchair sleuths busy.

Everyone except the MFC and MM. are sleeping around, the MFC follows the killer into the forest ALONE to get a confession 🙄🙄🙄 I lost some brain cells there. Seriously, could you have written her any dumber at that point?? Jasper is fine except when dealing with us mom and manipulative ex- he finally did get a spine. Bizzy sighhhhh

"Dog Days of Murder" begins with the same opening paragraph as the first novel, and the timeline picks up in October. For anyone who loves the beauty of autumn and festive events, Cider Cove, Maine—especially the Country Cottage Inn—is the perfect place to be.

Just a word of warning: your taste buds will be salivating for Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins, which are served throughout the month at the inn's Country Cottage Café. Thankfully, I had pumpkin muffins in my refrigerator for breakfast, after dreaming about Emmie's mini muffins. For those who love to bake or don't have a local bakery for a quick fix, Bizzy provides the recipe at the end of this delightful cozy mystery.

This series is a special joy for pet lovers from cover to cover, as Bizzy can read not only human minds but also those of animals. This allows us to eavesdrop on the conversations between her adorable kitten, Fish, and Detective Jasper Wilder's dog, Sherlock Bones. Anyone who has shared their life with a pet will enjoy the lively exchanges, especially hearing Sherlock's declarations about his love for bacon. We also meet a French bulldog-terrier mix named Peanut, but you'll have to read the mystery to find out whether he becomes a permanent resident at the Country Cottage Inn.

Even after the latest mystery was solved, I found myself yearning for more time with Bizzy, Fish, Jasper, Sherlock, Emmie, Georgie, and the rest of the charming cast. With their adventures still fresh in my mind, I'm ready to read the third story in the series, "Santa Claws Calamity."

This is probably the first cozy mystery sequel I've read, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. The story is really similar to the first one, with the same type of people who the mystery revolves around. But there are added elements as well, namely Jasper's ex, Camila, who is a bitch and who has it in for Bizzy.

Okay, I will admit I don't exactly understand how a town can go from "a sleepy small town where nothing happens" to "a premier destination for murder," and for this reason I have a hard time understanding cozy mystery series. But the way Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom write it makes repeated murders in the same location almost seem plausible. (On that note, I wonder if a cozy mystery writer has ever written a spinoff haunting mystery series where all the bodies come into play.)

Despite this, as I mentioned before, there are many elements in this story that made it more interesting. The authors seem to have more control over how to write Bizzy's ability to read minds, and it comes out a lot less chaotic than it did in the previous installment. I also like the way the story revolves around this more, with the addition of Leo and Camila, and how Bizzy hones into it more to work on finding the killer.

Peanut was also a very cute addition, and I love the way the animals' personalities are explored through Bizzy's connection with them. Cozy mysteries are always quite a bit better with the addition of animals with big personalities, and the way the duo writes them here is adorable.

The mystery itself was a little repetitive of the events of the first book, with the people it revolved around and the way it played out. For this one, I had a much clearer idea of who the culprit was, even though it was harder to figure out why. From this series, I have learned that I am definitely not cut out for detective work, because I'm not very good at putting the pieces together or picking up on little clues the way Bizzy does and putting them together later.

This was a cute, quick read, and I'm looking forward to getting on to Santa Claws Calamity, especially with that hook at the end. After that, I'll need to see if I'll spend any more money on the series, but since I've gotten in this deep, I probably will.

This one will keep you on your toes keeping up with the good guys and the bad guys! A new little dog joins the group and he is so scared--his beloved mistress was murdered!! Bizzy tales him in. One of her employees falls in love with the little guy and he seems to love her as well--but then she is arrested for the murder!! Bizzy is sure she did not do it and sets out to prove it!! Of course that detective is always trying to stop her-to no avail--

Meanwhile his entire family shows up and do they ever cause a stir--then there is his ex fiance who suddenly wants him back. Then Bizzy's father shows up--fiasco time!! Then there is that other detective who knows Bizzy's secret---oh my.

The three pets keep up a conversation and Bizzy answers them without anyone knowing--but it is her cat who ultimately saves the day!!

Lots of laughs in this one as you try to figure out who did it--I did not guess--maybe you will!!

Excellent Book

Bizzy can read thoughts.
She has the ability to do more than that. She can solve mysteries.
This is the second book in this series.
I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I honestly couldn’t wait to dive into this book because the first one was just exciting…. Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom have written another incredible book and the story is just amazing. There’s lots of drama, there’s love triangles and of course there’s another mystery to be solved. I honestly can’t think of the perfect combination than those three things. As always, I know how cruel Addison can be at times, so the fact that there’s another two people who I seriously want to punch…. And trust me back in Murder In The Mix, there was a good few people who just needed to either be killed off or just to leave the place. And yet again it’s the same case, yet it’s quite interesting. I think the way that both Addison and Bellamy have created up these characters is great because they’re unique and they bring a lot more to the story. I couldn’t fault the plot or the writing of this book, both authors have extreme talent and I can’t wait to see what else they both bring to this series. I think Bizzy is an awesome character and I love how her relationship is with Jasper, but I know that this book it really does test them quite a bit. I just hope that they can hold out because they do make an interesting couple. Plus, it would be heartbreaking for both Fish and Sherlock.

Bizzy has finally got everything she could ask for, a great job, great friends and family, the perfect cat (fish) and the best of all…. an amazing guy (Jasper) who she can call her own…. However, everything seems too good to be true when Jasper’s ex-girlfriend shows up at the Inn and decides that she wants him back, the only way that Bizzy knows all this is because she can read minds…. You’d think that with Bizzy worrying about the state of her relationship and if they’ll make it through, that would be enough for her…. Nope, life has other ideas and she ends up coming across another body at the Inn. Will Bizzy be able to figure everything out or is she set to lose the things that she loves the most?

A lesson on murder?

Book description: Bizzy is the manager of the Country Cottage Inn which is hosting a seminar on how to catch the perfect man. Unfortunately, Jasper’s ex, Camila Ryder, is in attendance and she came looking to take back what once belonged to her. To make matters worse, a murder is committed at the inn before the seminar disbands. It’s October in Cider Cove and there’s a fright around every corner with a killer on the loose. Is Bizzy really a suspect in this murder? She must clear her name!

This is the second book in the series which introduces even more colorful human characters and a sweet pup.

I do not like reviews which include spoilers, so, you won’t find any here. What I will say is that this story was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. If you enjoy reading a good whodunit mystery with a little romance, drama, and angst mixed in for fun, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Good

It’s Halloween, and Bizzy and co. are hosting a number of events at the Inn, including a seminar on how to get your man.
Of course, Bizzy ends up stumbling over a body, and Jasper comes quickly to the rescue- only for an employee at the Inn to fall under suspicion.
Bizzy, with the help her her furry companions (and a hot detective) are on the hunt for a murderer, intent on proving her friend innocent.

Complications arrive in this book (book two in the series, it does indeed build on previous books), when Jasper’s ex arrives, plus the man she left him for! In fact, we get a good look at Jasper’s family, who prove a little too close for comfort in some cases.
It’s all good though, because the weird relationships, plus the furry helpers, all add a little comedy to the mystery, leaving the reader giggling at times.
This is a fun cosy mystery, with a slight touch of the paranormal to it, perfect as a quick read for lovers of both paranormal cosy mysteries and standard cosy mysteries.

Bizzy Baker and a seminar about how to snag a man set the tone for the book. Nessa is a co-worker at the inn and Vera is Nessa's sister.

Fish is a telepathic cat, Ginger is a stuck-up b***h, and, of course, there's a murder. The problem is that Nessa's gun was used to kill the murder victim.

So, Bizzy has to find a way to clear Nessa by finding who the murder actually is. There's more hatred between characters, someone is found to have a dark side, Peanut (the dog) gets a home and there's a kind of social pressure on Bizzy.

I like this series of books. The animals give it a slight difference from some other series and the over-the-top seminar about how to snag a man seems to be so incredibly politically incorrect it's amazing.

This cozy had all the Halloween feels to it. I was so here for it. It was what I was looking for.

The mystery was pretty solid. There were lots of suspects. Some twists and turns along the was as Bizzy tried to figure it out with her animal companions. The pacing was good. It kept me hooked on the page. It was just a good ride.

The characters I really liked especially the animals ones. They were so cute. They added so much to the story especially since Bizzy could read their minds. In fact she could both human and animal minds, which helped her solve the mystery. I loved that twist. It made it just more intriguing and interesting.

The 2nd book in this cozy mystery series set at Country Cottage Inn in Cider Cove with mind reading Manager Bizzy, her cat, Fish, and the local police Detective Jasper, with his dog Sherlock.

This book sees a seminar at the Inn, when one of the team involved in the event is found murdered, its inevitable that Bizzy gets involved, despite Jaspers pleas not to. Along with the arrival of his ex-girlfriend who is determined to win him back; and his Mother staying at the Inn too, it's a busy and exhausting time for Bizzy.

Cozy mystery with humourous passages, easy to read. Best read in order for continuity, although each book is a standalone story. This series is well worth a read.

Happy Halloween!

The Inn just had its second murder. Of course Bizzy can't stay out of the investigation. Bizzy and her furry friends must solve this case , a friend was arrested and Bizzy knows she's innocent. In the middle of this Jasper's mother and ex-fiance have shown up to try and get Jasper and Camilla back together. Jasper had a conversation with Camilla telling her no way which caused Camilla to threaten Bizzy. Will Camilla break things off or fess up? Will Camilla carry her threat out? Will it make a difference to Jasper? Will there be another murder to solve?

Mind reading inn-keeper runs around with a cat and two dogs, randomly suspecting people of murder until she suddenly finds the right one - but without explaining to the reader why all of a sudden she things of that person. Add to that a deputy who she fancies, but who apparently has not enough intelligence to see through the efforts of his mother and his ex-fiancée to win him back.
Occasionally amusing (mostly the animals), on the whole not too bad but not something I would read again.
My personal opinion, not saying that book is bad, just that I barely liked it.

Didn't expect that

The mystery was good and if Bizzy did not have the ability to read minds, not sure how Jasper would have solved it.

A convention at the Inn leads to a murder, but even more shocking, lots of Wilders, exes and hook ups I was surprised and yet not by. When Bizzy questions Jasper's loyalty and even worse, invites his ex to stay and them to interact, I think she caused more problems than she hoped to solve. Let 's hope she does make more mistakes in the next book.

This book has a great mystery to it that kept me turning pages and which I enjoyed a lot. I really like Bizzy and Jasper and Georgie but the rest of the characters are really annoying me. First off are there no other dateable people besides Jasper's family? I mean come on every member of Bizzy's family is dating someone from his family. Plus the ex girlfriend of Jasper is just really bitchy and I am hoping she is the next murdered.

This was a mystery I could sink my teeth into!!!

This mystery had it all - - - humour, drama,
suspense and pets! Love Fish, the kitten, and
Sherlock Bones, the dog. Can't forget Peanut,
the visiting puppy. Hope he becomes one of the
continuing characters in the series. Great story
line and plot. Will definitely be looking forward to
the next book in this series and will be continuing
to follow it!

In this second book on the Country Cottage Mysteries, there is yet another murder is this supposed quite little town. Bizzy again finds the body and of course feels she has to solve the murder. Love her being able to talk to the dogs (Peanut was such a cutie and his reactions were perfect.) and cat. What I don't understand is why someone with a little experience with tracking a murder would put themselves in harms way when they don't have too.

Halloween mystery

Bizzy is in the beginning of a relationship with Jasper, a hot homicide detective. Complications arise when there is a murder at the inn and a suspect is arrested. Bizzy is convinced the wrong person has been arrested. With her special abilities, she seeks out the truth. Along the way she has to compete with Jasper's ex girlfriend and try to win over his mother, after a bad first meeting.

Very entertaining!

Bizzy can read your mind, and more importantly, the minds of animals. All her pets love her because she can communicate to them.

Her hot new detective, however, doesn't know this, and doesn't understand why she keeps putting herself in danger to solve murders. A big clash there...

And don't miss the seminar on how to catch a man of a certain caliber (read: old, wealthy).

Again, the pets steal the show.

I'm finally admitting that, though these cozies have everything "on paper" that I would love, I simply do not enjoy the style of this author. I have given these a try, over and over again, but they just don't work for me.

I think you should give them a try, if you're interested in them, because we all like different things, but I can fully say that they just don't appeal to me, and I'm done trying to read them.

Bizzy Baker can read minds including pets. When she finds someone murdered at the inn she runs she can't help but work to solve the murder. Her boyfriend is a sexy detective that wants her to stay safe. This is the 2nd book in the country cottage mystery series, and it's an easy read. A cute romance mystery that occurs during Halloween time. I'll definitely read the next in the series.

Strike two

Seriously?! Body parts doing odd things (eyebrows chests and laughs that bounce, lips that crimp), "malfeasance" until it's beyond annoying, and every family member looking nearly identical and hooking up with another family. This is beginning to sound tiresomely familiar...

Nice series. I love Bizzy Baker and her ability to "read" minds - human and animal. Not as thrilled that she hasn't shared the ability with someone who can help her with a looming problem with this ability. Hope it straightens out in upcoming books. Great, interesting characters, exciting plot, beautiful setting and a satisfying conclusion lead me to recommend this series to cozies.

Bizzy Baker, the main character of the story can read the minds of animals and people alike. This adds some interest to the story, as she gets into conversations with the animals who are perceptive of human actions and emotions. Bizzy is the manager of an inn where a murder of a social influencer occurs. Cute story!

A cute, cozy mystery set during a fall festival in a cozy small town. I felt pulled into the town, even though I hadn't read the first one. It was a little confusing with the family dating the same family, but we got there. The murder mystery was fun to follow along with, and the pet sidekicks were so adorable. I was surprised at how everything was finally solved (in a good way!)

Its a "fine" book...a "fine" series. Works well as a palate cleanser. I've always shied away from mysteries but find the cozy mysteries a fun change of pace.

The series is centered around an inn keeper who can hear thoughts and her cat. She has a new beau who's a detective with a dog. In this book she meets the ex, which is more traumatic than the murder du jour.

Dog Days of Murder at Cider Cottage

I just loved this book. The first book was good and the storyline went smoothly into this book. Bizzy is such a delightful character with her warm heart, inquisitive mind love of life, but she is kept humble by her "gift" to read minds.
