“It’s okay if you’re not yet where you want to be. Remember: you don’t always notice the sun rising in the sky until, one day, you feel it’s warmth touching your face and you realise how much you have grown.”
From the author of the bestselling book ‘Bloom for Yourself,' comes a collection of poetry and prose for courage. This empowering collection explores the transformation from low self-worth, to the bravery of letting go, and the wisdom that comes from truly believing in yourself. April Green has an extraordinary gift for helping you understand that you are never truly alone. Her words are shared by thousands of people all over the world, including Jenna Dewan, and Shantel Vansanten. Her voice serves as a reminder to all of us that healing, transformation, freedom, and self-love are possible.
I've read most of April's other poetry and prose collections and have enjoyed them. Becoming a Wildflower was the same experience, in the sense that it tackled very important aspects of life such as self-love and staying true to yourself. Borrow this one on KU if you have the chance. Easy lunch break read whenever you feel like you need a 'pick-me-up!'
If I could take all these words, fold them up in my palm and engrave them on my heart, I would. Breathtakingly beautiful is the best and only way I can describe April's way with words. I need to (once again) go buy this in paperback so I can keep coming back to it.
When it rains, I still tilt my face to the sky in honour of the girl who once forgot that those water-light kisses from heaven are sent to remind us to absorb every atom of life.
This was mostly short little poetic essays. And I appreciated that because it had the cadence, imagery, and particular wording choice I associate with poetry while also being short essays rather than badly broken up or rhyming “poetry” where the thoughts and emotions get lost in the bad writing or formatting choices.
This collection of poems/prose (mainly prose) was so beautifully written and empowering to read. This is my first time reading anything of April’s, and I must say that I am already captivated by her unique writing style. Her ability to conjure up breathtaking images of sunsets, flower fields, scents as a way to convey emotions and life advice is unparalleled. She uses metaphors and integrates these different facets of nature into prose so well in order to get the point across to the reader - self love, hurting, healing, growing, being okay with being alone is all part of a beautiful journey that is life. I think this book would be enjoyed by feminists, strong women, or any person who is striving to seize the day and take control of their own lives.
April Green’s poetry collection is one all women (not just women though) should read. It has amazing messages and motivational poems on different themes. I seem to enjoy those quite a lot.
Becoming a wildflower not only is a special collection but has beautiful imageries. I loved the flower theme and the metaphors in it were pretty incredible and clever.
Every poetry book April Green writes touches me at my core. All the poems are relate able, inspirational and worth a second and third read. She just knows what the reader needs to hear. From self love poems to heartbreak she pulls at your heart strings. 5 stars is not nearly enough.
I cannot stop bookmarking every page i found, that it feels like a mirror to me. Give me fruit of thoughts. Although i am still broken, i feel like i am healing while reading this book.
You are made of stars and love Your reason for being is not to explain yourself for being Even if it sometimes feels as though you’re wrapped inside your own little planet, hurtling through outer space- you still belong here. Never apologise for your light.
This was recommended with kindle unlimited and I'm so glad I gave it a chance! It was a quick read that really stuck with me. I read it twice in the same sitting - just so things could settle in differently both times. Again, I'm so glad I did, each read was a new experience.
Definitely a lovely collection. I enjoyed the format, the language, and the themes. It suffers from some of the things 21st century poetry typically suffers from, the most prominent of which are metaphors and similes the author complicated so much that they don't make the slightest bit of sense anymore. However, there are other characteristics it doesn't have. For instance, it generally uses correct punctuation and capitalisation, which I normally prefer over the alternative. All in all, it's quite a nice book and I would definitely read something else by this author.
It is our birthright to stretch and grow towards the same sun.
I very much enjoyed this collection! It got a bit repetitive at times with the same themes and symbolism used over and over again, but all in all this was a truly beautiful read.
A lovely little short collection. It was nice but I definitely didn’t enjoy it as much as I did Green’s other poetry books that I read. Some seemed a bit long which isn’t my favourite thing when it comes to poetry, but overall still a good collection about self love
I fully believe that the universe sends you messages exactly when you need to receive them, and for me — this book was a message of great importance. Thank you, April Green.
Becoming a Wildflower, is a poetic book of life, love, peace and your soul’s growth. It is like sweet confessions of the heart. I loved reading this little book.
