When Bishop’s former mentor threatens to instigate a nuclear war, the MI6 agent dives headlong into a deeply personal mission where nothing is quite what it seems.
Racing across China with enemy hounds snapping at his heels, Bishop is forced to confront not only a relentless adversary, but also demons from his own past.
Full-throttle action, snappy dialogue and twists at every turn, Agent Provocateur will have you turning pages late into the night.
Note to the reader: Although the Bishop novels can be read in any order, the events described in this book take place after those in Kiss My Assassin.
Dave Sinclair is a USA Today bestselling author, screenwriter and a really excellent parallel parker. Author of the Scream Queen Detective Agency, Mason Nash, Atticus Wolfe, Charles Bishop, Eva Destruction novels and snarky Post-It notes. The three series have different main characters, but do manage to slip into each other’s series now and then. Dave spends a lot of time in his imaginary world and ignoring the washing. He lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and two crazy daughters. He’s also an award winning filmmaker. A title that sounds much more impressive than it really is. He won a best comedy screenplay and cinematography award for one of the short films he wrote and directed, though at the time he didn’t really know what cinematography was. A completed screenplay is currently doing the rounds. Dave’s overflowing bookshelves include many works by Douglas Adams, P.G. Wodehouse, Dashiel Hammet, Raymond Chandler, Janet Evanovich, Ian Flemming, Zadie Smith and John le Carré. To find out more, you can stalk him at all these semi-reputable places:
Another thrilling tale by Dave Sinclair I enjoyed this book enormously. Its a quick, fast paced read. Plus it progressively develops Bishop as a complex character too. This time the wise-cracking MI6 secret agent is in China . His former mentor threatens to trigger a nuclear war. A darker feel than the first book, offset by lots of cheeky humour too.
Naturally, the story is far fetched, but it is grounded in current events. A wild, adventurous ride which I can recommended.
I really enjoyed this book. I just love the main character, nobody can wind up the bad guys quite like Agent Bishop with his smart mouth, you would think it would get him in lot more trouble but somehow he comes out of each encounter unscathed (more or less). Everybody loves a wise guy. I think this would be a great series to have as an audio book and it would be interesting to see who the narrator would be, as well as the actor if it was a film. Bishop is tasked with taking down his old mentor and the father of the girl he let get away. As Kevin was the man who trained him he know it is not going to be an easy job but when he picks up a tail as soon as he arrives in China he fears this could be a one way ticket for them both. With a powerful enemy hunting them both down Bishop must keep his friends close and his enemies close if has any hope of surviving this latest mission. Armed with just his wits and the odd rocket launcher he must tackle a rouge agent, who is hell bent on starting and finishing a new war. Just loved it can't wait for the next book, move over Bond a new guy is in town.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from Dave Sinclair. It's the first Charles Bishop novel I’ve read and I want to read more.
I read this book in one sitting and that goes to show it’s a real page-turner. I was looking for some action and adventure, and I got more than that.
I loved the humor and pace. I enjoy reading espionage stories but this is the lightest of them all. While it may have serious issues, Charles Bishop is full of laughs and there’s a thin line between seriousness and craziness.
He could also be ruthless when it comes to the job. I like that dichotomy. This story wasn't heavy on the military speak and the firearms used.
From one smart ass to another , I thoroughly enjoyed your characters and the the dialog was spot on. In my 84 years I have found many of the scribes from other English speaking countries promise much but deliver little. Normally those books when offered up are heartlessly deleted as they aren't worth my time or the effort to grind through them. I am now forced to reevaluate my opinion based your excellent contribution to fun reading . Thank you and your crew.
Not a bad tongue in cheek thrill ride across China. Discovering and dealing with mentor issues, what good spy does not have them. Being ordered to hunt down and kill your mentor, that takes some getting used to. A nice fast paced entertaining spy thriller. And actually filled with sarcasm and quick quips than plausible plot. But still not a bad way to kill a few hours. Look forward to this author's next book.
Another stellar effort by Dave Sinclair! Thoroughly enjoyed the book and was intrigued by the further development of the character Charles Bishop. This book had a somewhat darker, more intense feel than the first book, which I thought had a bit more humor in general. Looking froward to the next installment!
Yes the title of this review is out of context, however we are talking Dave Sinclair and his highly amusing take on all things thrilling and Charles Bishop is the perfect billboard. Gasp with shock sandwiched with choking with laughter. Perfect reading for me. Thank you Dave, on we go to the next laugh-a-minute thriller. I hope there will be many more.
When I write a review I tried to show my feelings for the story and my respect to the writer. Mr Sinclar I read your book fast. Your narrative is full of emotion and adventure. I love Ian Fleming and John Lee Care. And now you. Thank you very much for your book. Ill keep reading the other ones you come up wit
As far as spies go, Charles Bishop is better than James Bond. He’s smooth, funny, fast and clever. He’s also a very capable killer. Good thing he’s MI6! This story was easy to follow and a thrill to read. Bishop has to save more than the day and he does with style. Awesome!!
A magnificently written and enthralling book. Very rarely can one read such an epic of mystery, action packed throughout. A true page turner and 'seat of the pants' thriller. I eagerly look forward to many similarly entertaining titles in the future.
Agent Provocateur is a very well written spy satire particularly geared for Generation X. I liked the balance of humor with actual spycraft and emotional dilemmas of the main characters. It is said that comedy is tragedy with a twist and this is doubly true with this book.
This book had no flat spots. It started moving and kept moving. Characters were entertaining and believable. All I can say as a criticism, you haven't written nearly enough books that I am aware of.
Non-stop action. Charles Bishop is a force to be reckoned with. He confuses both friends and enemies by making what seem to be inane remarks, but which serve the end goal. In this intense story Bishop is on a particular mission that changes completely on the ground. I couldn't put it down.
Intense story line with lots of action and unexpected twists and turns. There was edge of the seat actio from beginning to end. Looking forward to tje next book.
Non-stop Action. Love the crazy stunts and humor of.Charles Bishop..Characters are.Great. Can be intense at times, but what a great storyteller Dave Sinclair.is.
Like Kiss My Assassin (Charles Bishop #1), Agent Provocateur was ridiculously over the top and incredulous, but still an entertaining read. Just don't take it too seriously.
