It does seem our world has gone crazy, especially for those of us who grew up in the 1970s and 80s. Of course, this is all expected but Bible prophecy. This book deals with how we as Christians should be during this times and watch for deception in the church. Seeking discernment and restoring folks to the truth.

Renner does a good job of breaking down bible verses in the context of the Greek meaning of words. This study as it seems is a good accompaniment to bible study.

The only downside would be the repetitiveness, especially at the beginning, but can see how saying the same or similar thing over and over is to drive home a point.

Renner opens this book by telling you the introduction is a “Must-Read” introduction because most people get the introduction of the book. I believe this is a necessary book to read for today. With everything happening in the world today, we need someone to help us stay doctrinally sound as a Church. Doctrine is the basis for how we stay sane. Our world seems to be turning upside-down, especially for believers in Christ who see a whirlwind of change from just five or ten years ago.

The world has affected Christians and Church leaders. Satan in some cases has deceived them as they allow false teaching to invade the Church. The author shows these deceptions from Scripture and helps us to see how to help them.

I appreciate Renner’s careful exegetical work and expositions of the biblical text. His Greek studies of the words used in the passages he covers are very helpful to understanding the context of each verse. You can clearly see Rick Renner’s heart to minister to Christians, and especially to pray for wayward Christians to bring them back into the faith. I enjoyed his approach to the subject and the detail with which he writes.

This is a book you need to read in these last days. As the world becomes increasingly crazy and illogical, especially unbiblical and against God, you need to understand why and how to deal with the world and even Christian who becomes deceived by the enemy.

What I love most about Rick Renner’s teachings are that he relies on and teaches from the original Greek or Hebrew word much of the time. I find that to be significantly clarifying. This book explained what I have been seeing culturally and sensing in my spirit. Excellent book. Gave it four stars rather than five because there seemed to be a great deal of repetition and more emphasis on the problem rather than solutions/responses.

If you think that the world is in a crazy place, be assured you are not alone. Constantly wondering if I was the one who was off or the world was really just that bad anymore, I felt relief when I saw this book. Rick Renner does a great job reassuring people like me that we are not losing our minds, that the world is dancing on a precipice and if things keep going from bad to worse we are in serious danger of heading right off the cliff. Things that were wrong even just 10-15 years ago are now widely accepted and if you disagree with those who advocate for them, then you are just a bigot, discriminatory, hateful -- fill in the blank. People always choose to shout you down if you take a stand for what your faith teaches. That is bad enough, but the churches are also becoming part of the problem. Where once I was a regular attendee in my church and active, I no longer attend. Nor can I seem to find one that hasn't fallen prey to the lunacy that abounds. In an effort to be more "progressive" these churches have foolishly turned many of the faithful attendees (and givers) away with their ever increasing embrace of lifestyles and choices the Word of God calls abominations. We have not left our churches, they have left us and will no doubt answer for it one day. All churches should have a statement of faith as Rick Renner explains so well and in addition to that, make it clear what will and won't be accepted. There is entirely too much infiltration taking place. People who wish to practice lifestyles not consistent with the Holy Scriptures should either repent and live as the Bible directs or find another way to practice their "faith" (which is really no more than wanting to do whatever they want and not let anyone dare call it sinful). I'm reminded of God's command to "come out of her my people" in Revelation 18:4. It is no wonder that the Book of Revelation and the vision of St. John begins with a scolding of seven churches. Unless true Christian churches can get turned around, that precipice and that end of the cliff loom dangerously close. Time is short. The only complaint I would have about this book is that I wish he had given more examples of various denominations and just how outrageous things have become. Most people have no idea what is happening on the decision making levels of their churches. Many of these bishops, etc. have lost their collective minds. Some people will never open their eyes unless shown evidence. Even with evidence they have, as the Bible says, believed a lie. A lie that will cost them dearly in eternity.

Do you think this world has gone berserk, especially watching the entertainment media or listening to politicians? Is there a way to escape that lunacy?

I agree with the answer Rick Renner gives in "How To Keep Your Head On Straight In A World Gone Crazy:" We need to return to Scripture and practice spiritual discernment.

This isn't the first book I've read on the subject, but it is unique in perspective. Renner puts himself in the Pentecostal/Charismatic camp, and most discernment ministries I'm familiar with are very wary of that segment of the church. Renner states he believes speaking in tongues is evidence of the Holy Spirit, which I strongly disagree with.

Even with the disagreements, I believe he's on the money on the need to get back to Biblical thinking.

We are dealing with a lot of confusion in the world currently. This book is a great encouragement. It will help you develop discernment. Since it is written by Rick Renner, it contains a vast amount of material to be digested. I really enjoy exploring the depths of the Word that Pastor Renner provides in his writing.

Another Classic

I love Rick Renner’s book, and this one doesn’t disappoint. We definitely need a revival of the Bible in our country, or homes and families, and the church.
But we are reminded in this book that we are not just called to shake our heads in wonder, but are called to play a part in reversing the works of the enemy.

Despite agreeing with much of his theology, I found the book to be repetitious and boring. The book could have been summed up in three pages or less.
