The Broken Lands #4

The Wind's Call

Rate this book
Scarred by her past; defined by her future.

Eva is a herd mistress without a herd. A tagalong by her own definition. Not thrown away by her people, but rather someone who created a new life for herself when the old one died.

When she rescues one of the mysterious winged horses, a creature straight out of myth, from those who would enslave him, Eva opens the door to something her chosen people want more than anything else. An alliance.

Now, sent deep into the Highlands and guarded by one of the Warlord’s most trusted warriors, Eva will have to brave the terrors that wait there. Someone is sowing the seeds of dissent upon which war turns. Failure will lead to death, but success may bring revelations she’s not ready to face.

The balance of power is shifting in the Broken Lands. Those who survive will need to adapt quickly to the ever-changing landscape. Choosing her friends wisely has never been so important.

Writing is my first love. Even before I could read or put coherent sentences down on paper, I would beg the older kids to team up with me for the purpose of crafting ghost stories to share with our friends. This first writing partnership came to a tragic end when my coauthor decided to quit a day later, and I threw my cookies at her head. Today, I stick with solo writing, telling the stories that would otherwise keep me up at night.

Most days (and nights) are spent feeding my tea addiction while defending the computer keyboard from my feline companion, Loki, who would like to try her paw at typing.

Another great installment in The Broken Lands series. I find that I’m really loving this world T.A. White has created. It’s just fascinating to me. There is so much about this world and the beasts that roam it that makes for an exciting read.

Eve had a small part in Shea and Fallon’s installments but she did make you stand up and notice her. I’m really glad that the author felt she deserved her own book. She is a lot like Shae. She’s a woman that was easily ignored until someone threatened an animal. Then she became fierce in her protection of anyone who needed it.

What I found very interesting was that the creatures Eve felt the need to protect were deadly predators. It’s such a great message that even someone small and unassuming can make a big impact if given the chance.

While Caden has not beat out Fallon as my favorite hero, he was pretty darn close. He’s the quite but deadly type. He observed and didn’t bring attention to his actions. Like Fallon, he wasn’t all warm and fuzzy at first.

The Trateri people are a very suspicious race. You really have to prove yourself for them to let you in, but once they do, their are a loyal lot. I’m hoping the author has plans for more in the series. There is a lot more she can do with these people and I would love more.

What can I say? I really do like this author's stories. Following Shea and Fallon was going to be tough. And indeed it was. But I did like Eva, and if I didn't find this book as gripping as the first trilogy it was still a very good read for me.
I missed the side characters thou. They had full page in book 1-3, but here they were... side. And yes Eva's background and struggles were eerily like Shea, but the way she confronted life wasn't. Still...
I do wonder if book 5 will be about the same couple or not.

I mostly enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it was the problem I had with the first Shea/Fallon book (book 1 in this series): the Trateri are dicks and I don't understand why the lead female has any loyalty to them. Why she keeps trying to be part of them.

Eventually they win me around, but honestly ... it's way past the line where I feel like she should have told them all to fuck off, and left. Shae should have done it in book 1, and I don't understand why Eva doesn't do it here. I feel like it's even worse for Eva, because at least Shae had this weird attraction/obsession thing going on with Fallon. Eva ... she had some friends she made, but they didn't counterbalance the way that 99% of the people she had to live with treated her like absolute garbage.

Why do these amazing women put up with it and stay there ... and not only stay there, but actively help these shitbags? It is a flaw. Give me some glimmer of something - like, some reason for her to hope they'll accept her, that this work she's doing will be worth it. Otherwise she feels like a punching bag. Especially when they accuse her of being a traitor.

*sigh*

Re-read March 2025
I didn't intend to re-read this - I honestly like the Eva/Caden arc much, much, much less than I like Shae/Fallon, and so when I re-read the first 3 books in the series I rarely continue on to this one. I think I started it because I wasn't ready to be done with Fallon and Shae, and I knew they had a few scenes in this one. I told myself I'll just read the opening...and then I just kept going.

I love the world. I love Fallon and Shae. But all the problems from my original review linger. The Trateri are assholes in this book, being really nasty to Eva on multiple occasions. And the mythologicals are even worse. They're hypocritical shitheads who go on and on about humans being untrustworthy and "mice" that are beneath their notice, but in this book they lie and betray the Trateri, getting a lot of them killed. And I remember that gets even worse in the next book. It's a problem because I don't understand why Fallon and Shae even WANT the alliances with them when they clearly can't be trusted. Fallon is merciless to others who do this - break your word to him, and he will literally wipe you off the face of the planet. I guess it is different because the mythologicals are so powerful that if you aren't allied with them, you're looking at a war - his army is fierce, and would give as good as they got, but that really just means a horrific war where no one wins. I do get that, but then ... work for a truce, not an alliance. It is very un-Fallon-like for him to allow his people to be used as pawns, and that's what the mythologicals are doing in this book. Even more in the next one. I can't make sense of it.

I didn't expect to love another heroine in this series as much as I did Shea, but Eva proved me wrong. I knew from the start I would enjoy her relationship with Caden because they both seemed so much set in their ways and determined to maintain their intipendence, which made their downfall even more satisfying, but the rest just blew me away.
There are many parallels and similarities between Eva and Shea, like their intolerance of idiots, but still, Eva is her own person and she comes with a backbone of steal.
The author finds new ways to enrich the worldbuilding, with new creatures , treaties and alliances, new friends and foes and I had a great time reading the story.

I loved going back into the Broken Lands and watching Eva come into her own.

description

Eva chose to follow the Trateri when they found her wandering after fleeing from her village. She has always been the odd one out, never fitting in. Something about her is different, more. And to people who see different as suspicious and something to be feared, she has always felt isolated.

After finding a place with the Trateri, Eva has found some small place of peace, although she’ll always be seen as a throwaway. But when her instincts lead her into a situation unlike any she’s experienced before, she finds herself traveling an arduous journey, far from the life she wanted.

’She wanted a simple life filled with certainty – safety and boredom because they went hand in hand.’

description

While this book has lots of wild adventures and reveals mysteries of the land and dangers at every turn, this is mainly about the heroine and the evolution of her character from feeling unaccepted and different, into that of being a part of the community and a valuable addition to the Warlord’s team.

This also includes the quiet and mysterious Caden who rarely speaks, never smiles and seems to be watching Eva. A lot. Their relationship is not insta anything, except maybe curiosity. I really enjoyed watching them grow closer. Caden is definitely protective and I loved that he was often puzzled or aggravated over Eva’s determination to do things her way.

”You’re like a craving in my blood and a fire in my veins that I can’t seem to work out, no matter how I try.”

This could be read as a standalone, but you might feel a bit lost when it comes to the “world” these characters reside in. And while it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it’s obvious more is to come. I hope we get a further look at this couple.

This was a worthy companion to Shea and Fallon and their saga in the Broken Lands. Danger lurks around every corner in fanciful and violent ways. Eva's talent is an affinity for animals, and that talent develops as the book moves forward. She matures and changes, as do those around her. It is so nice when a novel shows a progression in multiple characters and yet it all feels so seamless. Caden is quiet and lethal and so much more. There are moments where he sounds like a poet. I enjoyed this immensely and can't wait for their saga to continue with Sebastian and the Kyren.

Meh. This was ok. There seemed to be inconsistencies in the story. And honestly I didnt believe Caden and Eva's connection too much. It felt forced. There was more romance between Eva and Caia to be honest. Eva's connection to the animals was really fun to read about. The story overall was just ok.

Nope. What started as and enthusiastic read wore me down very quickly to a when-will-this-be-over-2-star read to end up to a Ah-HELL-NAW-YOU-DIDN'T-1 star rating read. And it is all thanks to that ending. Now let me try to the best of my abilities to enumerate all the little things that chipped away at a promising read down to an angry finish.

To start with let me say I had high hopes for this final book and the h here. She is the definition of an underdog. All beatdown and rejected by the people she grew-up with but she fights her way out of her dire fate to find her footing in a completely new and foreign situation and despite all the suspicion from those around her she finds her footing and is quite satisfied at the beginning of the book. She relates more easily to animals than humans due to her innate sensing special ability, as such she feels rejected and an outcast from her former village even to her new chosen home. But she perseveres as she finds purpose in having a job to give her something to hold on to. I related to her annoyance when given new trainees as heard masters to have to train and break in. Especially with getting the mouthy, disrespectful, thinks-he-is-better-than-anyone-else little shit of a man-child. I was interested in character building path the author was gonna give him, if she intended to build him into a better version of himself he would need to eat a fair amount of humble pie before hand. He did, but in my opinion not enough. And this is where all the promise of a growth and well established h goes downhill.

As we are introduced to one of the weakness in plot point come in. Mostly we see the h having to do extra work and pick up the slack that this man-child is making, not to mention correct danger inducing mistakes he makes. And other than a couple of sharp spoke words that EVERYONE holds against the h for "she is letting her bad first impression of the boy color her attitude towards him" he never is show receiving some just rewards for his shitty behavior. I mean has anyone ever seen or read in those historical documentaries what flack apprentices get when they make the slightest error not to mention endanger whatever charge they were given? No? Let me tell you whippings where just the tip of the punishment ladder they would have to endure. I mean in this story the author is trying to establish these Treteri people as primitive but not savages. So I guess she is trying to eliminate corporeal punishment for transgressions committed by an individual and thus give them a bit of credibility in the possibility that this primitive people can organize in such large quantity and vanquish a foe that was threatening everyone. That has it's own set of issues as well, but will come back to it later on. But in essence they are very prejudicial people and this colors the majority of the book in a very unpalatable undertone. The h gets more scorn and backhanded remarks even from the people shown to be her friend for her bad temper and slight (and I do say slight cuz if it had been I would have beclapped the heck out of that man-child) exhaustion with the man-child apprentice when he is shown to be willingly obstinate and done things that knowingly engagers the herd he has been charged with guarding. EVERYONE is on h's case for not trusting this oaf quite yet when he has shown himself as utterly mistrustful. And this undertone of outsiders always being mistrusted more even after the h proved herself over and over again, dying almost more than a few places, placed the whole story on an uneven setting throughout. And it's always placed on the h's character, that it is her fault she is mistrusted by these people who have shown to be very doubtful of outsiders they let in their midst. Like her guarded attitude towards the people who reject her on their own for the sole reason of her being not of their people and have been known to turn in their opinion of her on a dime. And yet when they make a small overture of friendship she is chastised for not falling at their feet in trust and bearing her soul to them. Oh come on. And this is the kind of shit we had to wade through as the book build up on it's main plot.

I wasn't buying it really. People are more complex and intricate than these Treteri as painted here. Especially the way the author was attempting to set them up from book one, as conquers but not mindless savages that turn hostile at the slightest show of something they do not understand. Boy was that the other way around in this book.

Girl power in your face all the time. I mean this one female warrior offers her like a hand in friendship, after she has been chosen to be special one to lead there people on this dangerous mission mind you. No one knew her name before that or bothered too, never mind that she took care of their precious horses. And this single act is exalted by the author like the forgiving hand of God offered to Mary Magdalen. Jeez, cool your roll there why don't you. The h and on occasion other characters chastises herself for jumping on the friendship wagon after that single act of friendship, from people who were just pretending she did not exist like a day ago. I get it. These people are warriors and lead busy lives what with conquering all these foreign lands and being slaughtered by unmown beasts in large quantities. But the story could give our girl her a moment to find her way towards trusting people who are basically strangers to her without having the h giving herself a mental flagellation every time she was not sure how to proceed with these new friendships. It's almost like the author introduced this socially isolated and ever so slightly damaged heroine and now doesn't quite know how to ease her into the social strata of these warring people but by having her be dragged by her feet kicking all the while being laughed at by those observing that she did not just go willingly. Nothing wrong happening there, they just offering her friendship and forcing her to conform to their form of interaction and baring your soul, never mind she still does not know all the intricacies of their culture and has been rebuffed previously for one slips or another.

And then these female warriors start showing up all over the place and surrounding our heroine with their friendship and nosing into her business like they have the right too. Aw geee did the author just watch Avengers End Game? It was quite moving that scene where all the female Avengers group up to help out poor downed Spiderman. Much empowerment. Much wow. Almost like the author realizes she did not have these female warriors as engaging in the previous books as she was giving so much attention to the heroine of those books so she had to give them some much neglected presence here. It felt forced to me. They did not quite interact with the heroine here as harmoniously as one would expect when people are exposed to constant looming danger and have known to create powerful bonds in such situations. Here it’s just painful to read about. And the whole undertone presented throughout this "bonding" of this is what warriors do, they tease, they invade your personal space so why should the h object to it felt icky to me.

How about how h is a total ball of insecurities and rejected feelings but she keeps spouting off these wise, empowering sayings out of the blue like some sort of "Philosophy sayings of the greats" type of book. Where is that coming from? General Iroh this girl is not. I would buy it if it came from these elderly warrior or pathfinders, but not this girl that is continuously being smack down by life and people she is trying to trust. Not to mention that every action she takes is being questioned by people she is supposed to be a guide of sorts for. I just do not believe it as it does not fit in with her general attitude.

The repetition in this book was at an all time high. How many times do we really need to hear that the Treteri are a war tribe that values their weapons and horses like their children or even more so. It’s the 4th book for Pete's sake, we know already. How many times do we have to be beaten over the head how the h is an outsider that is mistrusted and as such garners little to no trust and thus respect from her adoptive tribe of Treteri no matter how many times she has shown to be trustworthy. How many times are inane scenes given extended page time I just wanted to speed it up and could not help my mind wandering off due to the unnecessary repeated information in a different format.

So many side-plots distracting from the main purpose of the journey and designed to eat away at the forces of the Treteri indicating at the power of the hidden villain all the while keeping his identity hidden. And the h is always put in the center with some clever move given to her to rescue everyone. Or the attack goes away as she does. I mean everyone keeps putting her down calling her "little" and "meek" even the mythological creature holds little respect for her and yet she is in the position of this great unclaimed power to call beasts to her or speak to them, or so the story claims. It is difficult not to start siding with these character's initial judgment of the h even if they change their mind about her later on. Her continuous lapses in judgment and tied tongue at the most crucial moments make me very doubtful of her character as the main heroine. I can understand her being intimidated by the warriors and not wanting to speak out, but when she does it once and a second time and receives nothing but respect from the warriors this is your que lady to kick that self-recrimination to the curb and speak your mind. But the still is hesitant and unable to find her thoughts at the end when she has to speak to the leader of the Treteri especially concerning her own future.

It would all have been fine and accepted if the author just brought it out in the open. Just have the h say "hey I have been burned by people before and I have a tough time finding my words in critical times as I get tangled up in all my issues and damage." It is never addressed head on. Just prevaricated through h's lamentation of her past rejections from people who saw her differences and indicated in round-about ways by h revisiting all those deep down fears she has over and over again. If they just called the mouse a mouse and addressed point blank as this woman trying to find her voice in this strange world it would have been better. All this tip-toing around the main issue and letting the h find her moxie did not the reader or the story any good. Shhhhh She-Whose-Faults-Cannot-Be-Named must find her own strength without being bogged down by these more than obvious issues she has. Let's just ignore that they keep getting repeated in round-about way for reader to get the hint. Gimme a break.

And that brings us to that end. That cursed end that made me feel so rage filled and made me curse the book and author for not being able to step out of its comfort zone. It's a godman brutal world, with brutal people in beast and human form alike. What is so hard in showing that? Harry Potter did it and that was characterized as a kids book. Ok let's not spoil it too much for people who still are hoping to read this thing.

I am starting to rethink my enthusiasm with this author. I mean she has potential, but some of the plot devices she employs have shown her weakness in this book most of all.

I'm to exhausted to write reviews for every book of this series. So this is a copy of my first review.

All the books of this series (5) get a four star rating. I didn't rated with five because at no point did I have the feeling that I need to binge this series like I did with my all time favorite fantasy series.

I loved this series. 5 books are about The Broken Lands, but there are two heroins. The first three books are about Shea and #4 & #5 about Eva. But the storyline continues through the books.

I liked both heroines and the plot was nice. I enjoyed the pace.

I'm glad I took a break from this series because I was able to come back fresh. The first book is still my favorite, but I am enjoying Eva's story. I'm getting adult Wild Magic vibes with this new story although, again, it definitely is crossed with Captive of the Horde King except more plot, less spice.
So, nomadic warrior people conquering the known world with the MC being talented in someway that becomes highly important and she falls in love with one of the warriors. Eva has an ability to connect with animals which is what leads her on her current adventure.

I just love Eva's character. I wish there was more build up between her and Caden, but maybe I wasn't inferring enough. Either way, I think I'm going to love them more as I read the next book.

I love this author’s world! I enjoyed reading more about it especially the winged horses. Eva was wonderful in her protectiveness of the horses, her interactions with her team were endearing. It made me sad that she felt so apart from others and I loved to see her gradually become more accepting of others. Caleb was fierce in defending Fallon’s work and his unexpected tenderness towards Eva was endearing. His little gifts, all made to help or protect her, how he learns to accept Eva, lovely! I can’t wait to read the next books.

Great story - just didn’t feel that strong connection between Caden and Eva like we did with Shea and Fallon in the previous books. The chemistry just wasn’t realized nearly as well. Also, I wasn’t really into the whole deadly stone people (what was up with them?) and tree people thing. I love Eva’s character, though, along with the rest of the world that keeps me coming back for more.

Really really enjoyed this.
Fantasy series, it carried on in the world from the previous 3 books but with different heroine and Hero.
The romance is not predominant but is there.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
No details of previous relationships.
Neither virgins.

References to previous books in series so best to read series in order.

HFN, in sense there is another adventure based on the events of this book but the main enemy threat of this book is resolved though there is a deeper threat.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

5 Stars…. Eva is an exceptionally strong and fierce heroine who has her own broken past and intriguing abilities that unfold throughout the read… Pairing her with the silent, deadly, yet sultry Caden makes for some intense chemistry and comical witty banter… Add in the mythologicals and a harrowing adventure and this read becomes an addictive page turner… Loved every minute of the adventure:)

I've been saving this book for when I know I'd get uninterrupted time to read, and I'm glad I did, because this book was hard to put down. Eva reminded me a little of Shea, but I don’t feel like it was a bad thing. So far, TA White has a knack for creating vulnerable and misunderstood heroines and I love it.

Eva is considered a throwaway among the Trateri—someone people from her old village didn't want and essentially discarded. I found that although Eva considered herself someone who found it hard to accept help and was a loner, I never really felt convinced that she was. She accepted help and she made friends easily. Still, I liked that she took a chance and made friends among the Trateri, as well as the mythologicals. She was resilient and adapted to all the changes that were happening.

It took me a while to warm up to Caden. I felt like Caden went from cautious and untrusting to to all of a sudden, respecting and liking Eva? Considering he was rude to her a few times, when it finally came to his POV, I guess I would’ve liked to see how he fell for her. I just felt robbed of that moment lol. We spent a lot of time in Eva’s POV so Caden was harder to read, and I didn’t know what to make of him. Once I’d gotten to know him better, he was really protective and sweet when it came to Eva. Fallon is still my fav, though. ❤️

Overall, I liked how their relationship developed, and how low drama it was when it came to the two.

One thing that frustrated me was how Shea and Eva both have had to work hard to gain trust of people who I felt didn't deserve them. It felt like an uphill battle when considering their pasts, they've already been through so much. I felt for them so much. But for sure, no one is going to call Eva a throwaway after this book. :-)

I was given this arc by the publisher for a honest review.

Wow! I was not surprised when I immediately fell in love with the book. T.A. White is a master of creating worlds and characters that readers become entranced with.

The Wind’s Call was beautifully written and had a storyline that was unique and thought through. A lovely continuation of the series. I love the Broken Land world, the author makes it so easy to imagine the various landscapes that are traversed.

The characters were absolutely amazing. All of them had their own personalities and it was so easy to fall in love with each of them( ok maybe not Darius). Eva was a fierce soul and I loved her kindness, stubbornness, and bravery. She is the ultimate heroine and I was rooting for her the entire book. I don’t want to give away any plot twists but I will say that Caden was the cutest and I ended up falling in love with characters that I never thought I would at the beginning of the book.

The idea of mythologicals was super cool and the different species in the book were absolutely incredible. This book allows your imagination to run wild, and creates a world that sounds magical.

Can’t wait to see what she does next! Highly Recommended!

The Wind's Call is the 4th book in The Broken Lands and features herd mistress and tagalong Eva as the main female character (first 3 books are about Shea). I loved the first 3 books in this series, so I was really interested to see which direction the series would go next both character and plot wise.

Eva was a strong minded character, some would say stubborn, Eva would say persistent! She might not have had the skills of a warrior, but she had determination and loyalty to animals and humans alike that were worthy of it. Or if she felt they had good reason to act in the manner they had. I was hoping there would be a hint at the end of The Wind's Call indicating which direction/character the series would go next, but there wasn't. Boo. I would love another book on Eva and Caden so we can see more of her unique gift and her connection with the mythological's. And her fox. He was cute :) Great addition to the series.

Eva’s life is a little simpler than Shea’s so I found this book much more enjoyable. I haven’t continued on with Shea’s story because it got just too much. Even Shea’s relationship is contentious. The power dynamics get so uncomfortable sometimes. Eva’s is a sweeter romance although not as epic. It’s quieter and I enjoyed that. Plus she’s an animal magic girl and that’s one of my favorite tropes. I think that’s a power I would choose if I could.

One downside, despite my giving this book 5 stars, is that the writing is a little less polished. Sometimes I catch something that feels off and I don’t remember feeling that in Shea’s story. The enjoyment factor outweighed it and since I can’t even describe the issue it obviously isn’t major.

Update 4/23/2021: There might be a book two to Eva’s story?! I was stalking the authors blog looking for the release date of the next Firebird Chronicles book and found out that an “Eva 2” has to come before it! Im excited! 💜💜💜

This book accidentally started as an accidental read. I didn't plan to read them, mainly because I know this book is about another couple from Book 1 to 3. I would want to read it when we have more books about this couple (because I could not stand waiting for the next book).

As for the book itself, it was so good. I love our heroine in this one. She was definitely an interesting character that could change the whole entire world... and I am excited for this development! The only part that left me wanting was the romance. Man, I'm so sappy. I wanted more romance. But the story on its own was still so freaking good.

It’s difficult to believe that I could be more enamored by a series as more installments are added but it is true. While “The Wind Calls” focuses on a different character it still continues to mesmerize fans with new adventures, challenges, and absolutely fascinating creatures.

This is Eva, the stable mistress’s story. We were introduced to her briefly when she sought Shea’s aid with a pest problem plaguing her stallions. While running away from her village as her people plan to make her a human sacrifice to rid the land of famine, Eva stumbles upon a wounded winged horse. After soothing him so that she could look into his injuries she discovers he has been captured and held by vice like vines that cut through his skin. Eva works diligently to release him using only a butter knife, she is soon set upon by the horse’s captors. Before things get messy Eva is rescued by the Trateri.

Eva declines the Trateri’s invitation to take her back to her village and follows them back to the camp. She is now works with the steeds under the command of Fallon’s top guard, Caden. He is frighteningly beautiful but also unimpressed with her. When the winged horse Eva rescued enlists Eva’s help in brokering a treaty between his people and hers, Eva sets out in a quest that will lead her head on in unimaginable danger, creatures and attraction. If the monsters don’t kill her first her heart just might.

There is so much going on in this read. The world building is incredible. The characters are flawed but relatable and subterfuge is lurking when and where you least expect it. I enjoyed every minute of it! I can’t wait to go on to the next installment but I am waiting for the audio form. The narrator is excellent! If you haven’t add the Broken Lands series to your to read list I highly recommend that you do so. You won’t regret it.

This is the best adventure romance I’ve read in a long time. I would definitely say that the adventure and fantasy aspect overshadows the romance. The romance is an ultra slow burn to the extent that I wasn’t sure there was one until half way through. However I found that I didn’t mind that at all. The action and character building is just amazing and fast paced and you find you’re already 10 hours in with 5 to go before you look up and realized you’ve been engrossed in this book all day. It is really phenomenal.

I do recommend reading the Broken Lands first as this picks up shortly after that leaves off and you might be just a bit lost otherwise though you probably COULD read this stand alone there is no way you would regret reading the broken lands first. Many of the same faces appear and we get to know them. The secondary character develop along side the primary characters.

I felt that the end left open the possibility for Eva and Caden’s story to continue but this could stand alone too. There is an HEA but it’s a little abrupt. I definitely wanted more but that’s not a bad thing and in the end it was a really fun, satisfying, and at times emotional read. I loved every moment!

Good news, this one has a HEA/HFN so you know what that means. I don’t need to wait forever. Amazon, here I come!

I counted myself lucky that I discovered the first trilogy of this series when it was already finished. It’s almost impossible to wait for for TA White’s books for come out. They are so good that I’m just raving to get my hands on the next. But alas... here I am, after devouring the first story arc in this series & wanting to read more, but this arc isn’t finished yet.

Welp, I’m just going to wait until all 3 are out (if Tobey decides to make this story arc into another set of 3 like I hope she does!!!)

I really enjoyed coming back to this world and I enjoyed Eva And Caiden a lot more than I thought I was going to. This one took just a bit before I really got into it but once I did I couldn't stop listening to it! The adventure, the mysterious creatures, the suspense and yes the romance although that is a very slow burn. I really want to know more about Eva's abilities and more about Caiden's past. I hope we get more from these two and a book for Darius.
