There's a reason I reread this book. Jared is the dirty talking, possessive alpha I love but he has a soft spot for his woman. He does everything he can to make her happy. He never looks at or touches another woman after MEETING her even though she's not available. Only Kali, his little fairy, will do.
He says things that'll make your core clinch like:
But turns around and makes you swoon with things like this:
He is exactly the kind of hero I love.

Jared is one of my all time top favorite book boyfriends. I absolutely LOVE that he calls Kali his fairy. It is so sweet and melts my heart. He only has eyes for her. There is no unnecessary drama between them. It's just sweet and low angst. Love it!

Revised a little because I was just too tired to write a review when I finished!
I absolutely loved this book. Hammer aka Jared was a perfect hero! He called Kalista his fairy which I thought was so adorable and sweet. But Kali's family needs to be gone! They were horrible and I can't believe Kali turned out so sweet. She did have her insecurities which I totally understand. You can't live for years hearing the kinds of things her mother and then her ex boyfriend saying and it not affect you. But Hammer gave her exactly what she needed and never wavered. He was wonderful!
I have to say one thing that one of my GR friends said and I noticed it too. Everyone was written as gorgeous, model worthy except maybe Kali and a few friends (though Hammer thought she was the most beautiful thing in the world and I ate that right up!). I would be self conscious living there. It just seemed weird all these beautiful people living in the same place.
But other than that, I loved everything about this book!
He says things that'll make your core clinch like:
“Come for me, little fairy. Get that hot, little cunt ready for me because I’m gonna ride you hard and fast once I get my dick inside you.”
But turns around and makes you swoon with things like this:
“It’s crazy, I know, but I feel like I’ve been waiting for her my whole life. There is something about her…no, it’s about who I am when I’m with her. Kali is special. Damn it, she’s got me tangled up in knots, but in a good way. She’s the best person I know, and I want to be a better man around her … for her.”
He is exactly the kind of hero I love.

Kali is tired of being hurt from the people around her and having others decide what’s best for her. It’s time for her to take the reins of her life. She is also very attracted to the gym owner in the front door, but she believes a man like him would never look to a woman like her. Until one night changes everything and they found themselves on they only hoped to be, in each other’s arms.
But when her family gets in the way and their different worlds collide, they found themselves in a complete new fight: for their love.
This was a short, steamy and surprisingly low on angst, story. It was my first book by Laurie Roma, but it won’t definitely be the last. Although the insta-love and the past pace of the romance ended up hurting the story, because it should have been more developed, it was a pretty good surprise. If you need a hot hero, a sweet heroine and much steam, this book is for you.

This was a super sweet hearts and flowers type of read.
Both characters were awesome, There wasn't any angst, or unnecessary OW drama. Jared wasn't a man-whore, or an asshole. Kali wasn't abused or damaged. No push or pull, just a straight up simple romance with SMOKING sexy times! I really loved this one.
That said, I think I'll be skipping Dante's book because he came across as the quintessential asshole man-whore, and if as I assume Zoe is going to be his heroine, then she gets the added benefit of having watched him fuck half the bar he owns, so NO thank you there!
I'll take a book about the sexy ass sheriff though!

If you want an alpha-male with a heart of gold, low-angst, smuttastic, make-your-panties-wet, contemporary romance--this is your book!
We have our hero, Jared "Hammer" Caufield. Ex-Ranger, ex-MMA fighter, and current owner of a gym/rehabilitation clinic. And he has been eyeing the sexy bakery owner across the street for quite some time now, but has kept his distance because she is taken.
Our heroine, Kalista "Kali" Redford is recently single and comes with self-worth issues. She owns a bakery and has also been eyeing the hot gym owner who regularly comes to her bakery for sweets.
When Jared learns that Kali is single, he will leave no stone unturned to make sure she knows that they belong together.

My Thoughts:
-Jared. As a rule, I generally avoid MMA fighter books because they are littered with the womanizing-the-world-revolves-around-me types and I don't like reading about them. But! What caught my eye about this book was that Jared is a retired MMA fighter. He was more mature and not just looking for an easy lay, which I found refreshing.
- Jared was a great, alpha-to-the-core hero. He went after Kali with a single-minded focus and never wavered. Do you ever read a romance novel and you're half scared they will cheat? Well, I never felt that with Jared. He was completely, and utterly besotted with Kali and 100% whipped. He was this big-bad tatted up tough looking guy, but he was a total sweetheart to Kali. They way he stood up for her and helped her with her self-esteem issues is commendable.
-Kali. I wasn't really feeling her in the beginning because she starts off a little timid and I prefer sassy, in-your-face heroines. But I have to admit, Kali really grew on me. I was expecting to have her belittling herself constantly, but it wasn't like that. Her parents and asshole-ex have made her feel worthless but she doesn't whine about it 24/7, it was believable.
God, her mother! I wanted to smack that bitch.
And when she stood up to her cousin in the bathroom!
-The smut!
It was super H-O-T!! There's a staircase scene, a motorcycle scene, and a conference table scene! And Jared is a dirty talker! When they first got together I thought it was a little too soon, but now looking back, hey! more sexy times!
-Side characters. I'm usually the one getting annoyed with too many side characters that are getting set up for the next books, but surprisingly I didn't mind all of Jared's and Kali's friends. There were a handful of them but I never got confused with who's who and what they do. It was fun pairing them and trying to guess who will end up with who. I'm particularly excited for Nikita and Hunter's books. I wonder who they'll get paired up with. I don't know how I feel about Dante and Rever, just b/c they're players and I avoid books about them.
-What I really liked about this book is there was low-angst. Like, seriously low. It's mainly about Jared and Kali getting together. Although there is not much drama going on it was not at all boring! I finished it in one sitting and never got bored. There's no random murder threats, kidnapping, cheating-misunderstanding. It was awesome!
Overall, I highly recommend this book! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this on Goodreads. It's a great beginning to a series and had a swoon-worthy hero. It's simple and short and super sexy!!

This was just okay for me. It could've done with some additional editing/proofreading. There were typos. The story was very choppy. I didn't really see the attraction between the hero, Jared (Hammer) and heroine, Kalista. She owns a bakery. He owns the gym across the street. They've been admiring each other, without the other being aware because she has a boyfriend. That's the back story that's narrated and next thing you know, Kalista is at Jared's gym asking if he gives self defense classes because her ex-boyfriend told her she's fat. Her mom told her the same thing and that she should lose weight for her cousin's wedding. Jared hears this information and goes "alpha" and immediately makes a move (so I'm not sure how he "falls" - there's no fighting of the attraction on either of their part). By the next day, they're fucking on the stairs. And.... they're together. The rest of the story is a mix of a big lecture on animal rescue, how "bad" the bad boys of Breakers, Texas are (they don't seem bad at all) and Kalista's insecurities. The conflict toward the end is pretty contrived. The names of some of the other characters are too much (Daryk Nyght?).
It seems I'm in the minority looking at other reviews. I did read the entire book, but I won't be looking for any others, if the series continues.

OH My Gosh this book hit me right in the part of my brain that was currently drowning in overload of ANGST. I need something that was full of LOVE, LUST and freaking Good times!!
It gave me that in spades!! But it also gave me such a beautiful love story ...that even included ..puppies!!
Ok seriously Hammer (Jared) and Kalista (His Fairy) had to be the cutest and sweetest couple I've read in so long. But the thing about it is that they were probably one of the hottest ones also.
Jared was amazing and I loved him from the first page. He just let Kali know she was precious in his eyes and there is just something about a man who isn't afraid to show his feelings. He just laid it all out there. Didn't matter where he was when he wanted his Fairy..he went after her

Laurie Roma can spin the sweetest sizzling romance I've seen in a while.

Loved this one just as much the second time around. Hammer is my favorite type of H. He's alpha, possessive and knows what he wants. He never waivers in his pursuit and love for Kali. And Kali is the perfect h for him. She's sweet and loyal. Her family is pure shit and it's amazing she's as loving as she is coming from those people. I absolutely loved the part where Hammer/Jared put Kali/Fairy's ex in his place. This will be a definite reread again for me.

LR pulled me in from the start. The way Jared described his obsession [interest] with Kalista I was team get her into bed asap Jared. The entire atmosphere of Breakers, TX seems like an amazing place to live. Not to mention every business there seems like an awesome place to hang out and scope man candy especially the Fight Hard gym. I liked the fact that the gym was a gym downstairs and a rehabilitation clinic upstairs. Serving those that served for us in the military was a nice touch.
LR also did a wonderful job laying the groundwork for future Breakers Bad Boy series i.e. introducing the reader to Jared's military friends and Kalista's female friends. I can't wait.
And those love scenes. Jared and Kali burn the pages up.
The two of them together are smoking.

The conference room scene at the wedding. Nuff said.

While I appreciated it, the maturity of the characters led to minimal drama. Any thing that could have caused conflict was resolved in a paragraph or two. Therefore I found the book rather boring. Don't get me wrong, I liked the characters and they had a beautiful relationship - Jared was damn well near perfect - but the lack of any real drama took away from my enjoyment.
Plus, this couple couldn't have sex just once...every single encounter turned into numerous romps in different locations. Seriously...almost every chapter had multiple encounters and I had to read about every single one of them. I started skimming because it became ridiculous.

I would give all the stars in the universe to show how much I L O V E this book!
Jared freaking Hammer is not your typical ex military slash MMA fighter slash boy-next door. He's all this bad boy with badass looking biker and a body that can make 90-year old grandma drooling. But not one can predict he's such a lovable gentle giant when he found his true calling.
Kali or Kalista is across the street bakery owner. She's all woman alright. Sweet and fluffy, she's everyones wet dream.
It's such a rarity nowadays to find a mature couple with no age gap. Kali is 30 and Hammer is 34. I love how calm they handle the situation even though it's scorching hot outside!
There are low to zero angst and just a pure insta-love and making out scenes! I can't put this book down it IS THAT GOOD. Hammer is just le sigh, all hard and muscle but beneath of that he's all ribbons and candies. The man calls her fairy for god's sake!
All the side characters are amazing as well and we get a hint/glimpse of future relationship and I am already can't wait to jump of Daryk Nyght (his name is SO batman-like LOL)

I really enjoyed this book! The H was wonderful! Totally devoted to the h. Wasn't with another woman after seeing the heroine. There was very little angst and their romance was sweet. Safety gang safe!

31/2 stars, Jared “Hammer” and Kalista (Kali) have worked across the street from each other for some time, Hammer has always wanted her but he would never try anything with a woman who is already taken, so when Kali walks into his gym and he finds out her jerk boyfriend dumped her because of her weight he is furious and unbelievably happy. Now that Kali is free Hammer has no intentions of waiting for her so he sets about taking what he has wanted since her first saw Kali.
Kali planned to dump her ex her just got there first. Jared is everything Kali knows she will never get so when a date of drinks soon turns to more Kali is more happy than she has ever been. As Kali and Jared grow closer together neither can deny how they feel and soon They find themselves in the relationship they both always wanted and in no time fall in love. But Kali has her doubts that she will be what Jared wants, and Jared has people pulling him in the directions they think his life should go. Now They will both have to decide what is most important in life and what is worth sacrificing for love.
This was a sweet quick read that wasn't complicated but was about Hammer/Jared and Kali falling in love and learning to trust each other after having experiences that taught them life didn't always give you what you want. I liked this book Jared was completely devoted to Kali once they were together and no woman even registered but her. He is a big bad ex patriot and ex MMA fighter but I wish we would have scene more of his bad and not just been told about it. He was very possessive of Kali and I loved that but he came off to soft( for lack of a better word) when everything I was being told was that he was this big bad guy.
I'm not saying this was a bad story at all because I did like it and will read more from this series in the future I just wish we would have scene more of Hammer in action. With all that being said This was a nice quick read that was refreshing to not have all of the same conflicts that so many books have and the love Jared has for Kali was beautiful, she WAS IT for him and I loved that.

This was a sweet quick read that wasn't complicated but was about Hammer/Jared and Kali falling in love and learning to trust each other after having experiences that taught them life didn't always give you what you want. I liked this book Jared was completely devoted to Kali once they were together and no woman even registered but her. He is a big bad ex patriot and ex MMA fighter but I wish we would have scene more of his bad and not just been told about it. He was very possessive of Kali and I loved that but he came off to soft( for lack of a better word) when everything I was being told was that he was this big bad guy.
I'm not saying this was a bad story at all because I did like it and will read more from this series in the future I just wish we would have scene more of Hammer in action. With all that being said This was a nice quick read that was refreshing to not have all of the same conflicts that so many books have and the love Jared has for Kali was beautiful, she WAS IT for him and I loved that.

3.75 "hammer" stars!
Hammer’s Fall just fell into the okay bracket for me. I mean, I liked it but it didn’t captivate my attention throughout through.
It was cute, it was steamy and very easy to read but there was something missing in it for me. I don’t really know what it is to be honest.
BUT…
I will, however, be continuing on with reading the next books within this series to see where Ms. Roma takes the rest of the “Breakers Bad Boys”. I have a feeling it may be on Hammer’s co-workers but I’m hoping that somehow it may be his cousin, Hunter. I’m so so intrigued him! Pretty please can it be on him!! <3

Let me just say that this is going to be a great series if the rest of the books are as good as this book and the rest of the guys are as HOT as Hammer is - and I'm pretty sure they are going to be.
Hammer, or Jared as Kali calls him, will have you all tied up in knots. Not only is he an ex-Army Ranger, he's an ex-MMA fighter and now owns his own gym, that is also a rehab facility for injured vets. But those aren't his only good qualities - oh no - he's tall, tattooed, alpha, sexy, thoughtful, stands up for his woman, loves puppies - and best of all, he knows how to use his Hammer - LOL!!
But seriously, I loved this story from start to finish. Hammer knew he wanted and Kali and when the opportunity arose, he took it and made his move. Even with her insecurities - he made sure she always knew where she stood with him - and how he felt about her. He always looked out for her, even not letting her take any criticism from her family and ex-boyfriend. I also loved getting to know all the other family members and friends of both Kali and Hammer - and am looking forward to more books in this series for sure!

At first I wasn't into this book, but after the second chapter i just fell in love :) And um... guys... there were tattooes, bikes, big muscled guys... YUMMY!
Hammer was just the man every girl wants, tough outside, but a big sweetheart inside *.* The way he treated Kali was just beautiful, but of course that doesn't man that there weren't any HOT situations couse let's face it... there WERE... A LOT!
Her parents? I would personally and gladly shove their money up their as*es and I'd bitch-slap them a couple of hundred times for the way they treated her. Same goes for her ex, and even though Jared nicely took care of him I would add some bruises and broken bones to his body :D I mean HELLO, he deserved it!
Everything in this book went fast and all but for once that didn't bother me at all. I just enjoyed it :)
Now I'm gonna read the next book in the series and I hope that it will be just as great as this one :D

3.5 stars. This was a great easy read. It was just what i needed. Jared and Kali are both very likable and their story is sweet and packed with steamy moments. I'm looking forward to reading more from this series.

2.5 stars, mainly because while I sort of enjoyed the story, I didn't like the writing. Now I'm not saying the writing is terrible, I just don't personally like when it's written like this was. There were times we got perspectives of random people, like his mother or a friend for a line or two after they said something. Now I get this means we understand what they're saying a little more but because it wasn't first person, and the POV's weren't set up chapter by chapter, but rather whenever the author felt some thoughts needed explaining, it became super confusing.
Sometimes I didn't even know who's thought's I was in. Really, I only really knew because they were thinking about one another and that was the only way to really grasp it.
My other issues was probably the last 30 or 40% of the book. I think by 70% it just started getting a little too... stereotypical. I can 100% say I thought the heroine was an insecure twat. Which makes sense with her last boyfriend, but to the point she's upset he didn't mention valentines day when he was going away for two days... really? I just cannot comprehend why anyone would legitimitly think that complaining about that would be normal... I'm glad it wasn't made into some huge issue, but even just seeing her think things like that made all the other insecure moments amp up to something I didn't like.
I get insecurity, I'm insecure sometimes, it's fine. But if you're complaining he loves you, wants you to move in and hasn't asked you to marry him, then also complaining about valentines day, should you really be together? She sounded so sure that meant he wasn't as serious about her if he didn't want to marry her. I'm flabbergasted.
All that aside, I enjoyed the book. I really wanted to see Hunter's story (I think he was the burnt soldier?) and I was a little excited to see about the soldier writing letters to that girl (Becca?), and Nyght's girl since he's so messed up right now. BUT I don't think I'll be continuing.

Kalista isn't sure what Jared sees in her, he is a retired MMA fighter and former Army Ranger who could have any woman he wanted. Jared knows that Kalista is a bit gun shy, but if she gives him the chance Jared will prove he is the man for her.
This was an unexpected surprise. Jared is a charmer, he set out to sweep Kalista off her feet and he did just that. This looks to be a fantastic series, tons of characters in the story that you want to learn more from. Highly entertaining read.

There is no nice way of saying this, so I'm just gonna say it... this read was INDEED wet-panty material!!! *GRIN* Hammer was BEYOND FREAKIN' HAWT!!! I mean, MY GOD, the man was an ALPHA STUD!!!! PHWOAR!!!! The end may have dragged a bit, in my opinion, BUT I still LOVED IT and now I CAN'T WAIT to read about the other guys in this series!!!! If you like stories on MMA fighters (or in Hammer's case, an ex-MMA fighter - who can go past all those muscles and tatts??!!!) *SWOON*, then y'all DEFINITELY have to read this!!!!

a super sweet read! Hero is really hung up on the heroine. Just a typical "bad boy" with a very sweet girl. They had nice chemistry :)
This book is indeed quite pricey though. I must say that the missing star has something to do with the fact that it is a pricey book, and it wasn't even that long. If I were to pay $5.99 for a book I want it to be worth my while.
Now your probably wondering why I paid for something i would complain about?? Well cause the sample did interest me. It is a good story.
It's not angsty, it has an ex fighter who has a sweet tooth, aww how cute is that??

What did I like?
I like the strong female presence, ruling the world from behind the scenes. I liked the rehabilitation theme in the story ( dog rehab, soldier rehab, PTSD treatment for the trauma surgeon, burn-out from the Hollywood producer, abused boys). I liked the small town setting.
Would I recommend this to a friend?
It was a great intro to a new series. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

Loved it!!! Hammer was the perfect Alpha Hero!! (At least to me). The relationship flowed nicely. The h was sweet yet strong and independent. There was none of the extra added angst that a lot of authors add for fluff now, just a full on love story. The HEA was lovely.
Can't wait to see what the other stories in the series will bring. We were introduced to a lot of very interesting characters.
Would totally recommend.

3.25 RATING- This was definitely another guilty pleasure read! A curvy heroine, a dirty talking alpha, and a story that was good enough to read but nothing special. It's the type of story you read, know the whole time your reading probably won't rate more than 3 stars, and are okay with. I actually only read this book to get to book two which I'll be reading shortly. I wouldn't consider this an erotic romance but some of the steamier parts could qualify.
