A lost king…Goya is a rare magical being: a royal Beast. And not just any animal shifter, but the king of the earthly realm--the great white tiger. But now he is a king without a home, cut off from his kin, and trapped in a human body against his will. A single mother…Maddie Peterson is a career-minded single mother who has a fundamental distrust (and often, dislike) of men, especially in light of her cheating ex-husband and manipulative co-worker. But, then, she's never met a male like Goya before. Opposite worlds collide…When Maddie welcomes the silent stranger into her home, there is no denying their animal attraction. She teaches him how to be human, and he teaches her how to be wild. But when he gives his heart and soul to her, the pure spirit of the noblest of Beasts, is she brave enough to accept him as a partner into her life, as well as step into his fantastical, dangerous world?

THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!! Only so long I can draw out a decadent treat... for the nth time re-reading while I harass the author to write the next book...

description

I cannot even begin to describe how much it blew me away and exceeded all expectations, turning them topsy turvy and inside out...

description

Let's begin with the MCs:

Goya, the Tiger King. A.K.A. "Tiger.": We met him first in Dark Obsession (Pure/Dark Ones #8) by Aja James , and he was AWESOME, AMAZING, RIVETING, MESMERIZING. Never even spoke a word. But GOD! the FEELS!!!!!

description

You know how I love "tortured" heroes. Well, we got some very pertinent background on Goya in Dark Obsession, which made me just LOVE him right away. And he's off the charts HOT! (even just in his tiger form.) We only get references to this background in this book, with backflashes focusing on other parts of his history, and I thought that was well done, because the tortured past he had in the previous book is not the only thing that defines who he is. He's so much more than that. You see it when he was a cub. You see it in his devotion and loyalty and courage. And THIS background makes me fall in love with him even more.

By the way. How does AJ do this????!!! the hottest silent hero of all time is in this book! Goya does not speak a SINGLE WORD out loud through the WHOLE BOOK! And only *thinks* a few very important words toward the end. But you feel him so deeply (and I mean that literally and figuratively). He practically leaps off the pages at you. (if only he would!)

description

Goya has black hair and blue eyes, but truly, this is the most representative long-haired bearded guy I can find. BEAUTIFUL.

Maddie, A.K.A. Mad Hatter: She's off the charts hilarious. This is the FUNNIEST book to date by AJ in this series, which is known best for the suspense, darkness, and intensity. I was totally NOT expecting a heroine like Maddie! From Chapter 1, I'm like... um... what have I gotten myself into?? THIS is the ONE for Goya?? I have to admit I just didn't picture it, having built up expectations from Dark Obsession.

BUT she's TOTALLY THE ONE FOR HER TIGER! (insert Cecile here. It's Cecile's Tiger :P Cecile, I think AJ might have been a little bit inspired by you for Maddie, personality-wise :P)

description

Maddie is a human, but Tiger pictures her as a manul cat, above.

Maddie is a single mom, newly divorced, of an asthmatic 9-year-old son. She's also a career woman gunning for a promotion at work. We meet her when she's having a lousy day, and we meet her when she lays eyes on Goya for the first time.

Maddie has sooooo much personality! She's got a temper. She's plump, frizzy haired and small, with killer curves. The way she wins over Goya, the way he falls for her... it's as much sweet and sexy as LAUGH OUT LOUD HILARIOUS!!!

description

Speaking of which...

Favorite scene #1: #TheThirdLimb. YOU GOTTA READ THIS!!
Favorite scene #2: Feeding and cleaning him
Favorite scene #3: BBQ sauce-induced first kiss
Favorite scene #4: "Let's Get It On" Maddie's musical seduction of Tiger
And let's not forget...
Favorite scene #5: T-rod and the eggplant

description

(This is showing a giant eggplant the length of a person's arm)

I can go on... too many to count.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE this couple!!!!

The BFFs: Maddie's friends Mike and Yas are part of the team that makes this book so funny (and poignant, and sexy and suspenseful and WTF surprising).

description

(This is actually the perfect gif of the 3-some. Maddie is the plump one in the middle. Mike is the blonde, and Yas is the gorgeous caramel.

They make this book the most "integrated" of all of AJ's books in the series. The characters and world-building make this series very fantasy-paranormal romance, but heavily fantasy as well with the ancient history and myths and legends and immortals and complex world building. In every book, you escape to a different world and it's a hell of an escape.

This time, you escape, but with a dose of contemporary romance too. Where real life is front and center in the story because of Maddie and her human background. She has roots and she has friends and family. She's deeply embedded in reality. She's NORMAL, like the rest of us.

BUT somehow, AJ makes it all work! Somehow, it's totally conceivable and believable that Maddie could meet someone like Goya and they're perfect for each other (not without obstacles, of course, but the best things in life are worth fighting for).

The world building and climactic evolution: I really can't say too much about this part. Too many HOLY SHIT surprises to be had. You get to see:
*Sophia, Benji, Ere, Cloud, Aella (and Ianna, Gabriel, Eveline) - all on a trip for Sophia's self-discovery
* Ramses, Maximus, Ariel, Eli, Clara (some major developments there)
*THE baddies!! Medusa, Wan'er. Prologue is told by a baddie again - Medusa, whom we haven't heard from since Pure Rapture (Pure/ Dark Ones #5) by Aja James . Your head will blow off at the stuff these 2 are getting up to
*Dalair!!!!

I don't know what else to say. Readers who are die-hard fans of this series will not be disappointed. Every book just keeps getting better and better, I don't even know how that's possible at this point, but I've completely uncapped my expectations. AJ is THE GODDESS! She always delivers!

For new readers who might just be getting in with this book - AREN'T YOU LUCKY!! And don't you want to read more??? Pick any book you want that strikes your fancy. Though the world-building is BEST when read in order from Book 1 Pure Healing (Pure/ Dark Ones #1) by Aja James , I've heard plenty of readers say they just read whatever they want and like them just fine out of order.

READ THIS SERIES TODAY!! You'll thank me.

I would like to start my review by saying: Cecile, I know Tiger is yours. I admit defeat. BUT... I still LOVE LOVE LOVE Goya the Tiger King!!

Let me count the ways before I get into an actual review:

1) the gorgeous icy-blue thickly lashed eyes (I'm piecing him together from various different pictures because THERE IS NO REAL MAN ALIVE WHO'S AS BEAUTIFUL!!

description

2) The long wavy black hair and beard and ridiculously ripped six and a half feet of gorgeousness

description

I got inspired by Aquaman movie. I am SUCH a HUGE fan of Jason Mamoa! Feel like if there was ever a movie about this series and this book was one of the featured, then he should play Tiger. =^.^= Better get on it, producers! He's not getting any younger! And Tiger is an immortal Beast who looks less than 30!! (but he's like 20,000+ years old!!!!)

3) His SOUL. I don't know how else to describe it. It's not about personality. It's about WHO TIGER IS. He's just deeply good and pure and innocent and SEXY AND COURAGEOUS AND KIND AND SWEET!! I defy any reader not to fall in love with him!

Now, the best representative of Tiger in his quiet, thoughtful moments (which is a lot of the time since he doesn't say a single word out loud EVER!!) is this man:

description

But imagine him with black hair.

And this:

description

And this (Tiger in a suit. Now, the scene is him in a black tux with his hair in a man bun, but I think this captures his "aura":

description

Why am I so obsessed with giving you a picture of Tiger? Or some inkling of what he's like? BECAUSE I'M OBSESSED AND IN LOVE AND IN LUST AND SOOOOOOO JEALOUS that Cecile *cough* MADDIE has him!!!!

This is why I read romance, people. This is why I read fantasy and paranormal romance. Because Tiger is... well... if the cover didn't give you a hint: a TIGER.

description

description

OK, OK, I gotta get on with the actual review now...

........ Sorry, I still got nothin'. Can't get my mind off Tiger!!!! (I'll come back later and do a real review...) gotta meet him again for the first time in his son's book Dark Obsession (Pure/Dark Ones #8) by Aja James

OK, I'm back, NOW I can get to the review.

This is yet another "departure" from AJ's books in this incredible series, in the sense that it's totally UNIQUE, yet still consistent with the world-building and style of the author, which BTW, has evolved as the series evolves.

I was reading a new inductee's review into this series with book 1 Pure Healing (Pure/ Dark Ones #1) by Aja James , it was an incredibly thorough and thought-out review. And I look back and thing, yeah, I'd agree with it for some of the comments, but because I'm so embedded into this world, and because I've seen who the world evolves and the author's style and story-telling evolves, I understand in a way why book 1 was the way it was, then book 2, then book 3 is so diff again, and book 4, and etc.

This is not a linear series, folks, it's complex and every story is unique. If you're reading books by an author because there's something particular about their style that you just like (snarky humor, for instance, or bang-bang sex, or alpha males that behave a certain way, or teenage angst), whatever it is, you will find it all in this series. BUT. Not in every story. Every story is incredibly unique:

* Pure Healing (Pure/ Dark Ones #1) by Aja James : unique for the ancient history (Rome, China) mixed with modern times, and a complex set up to a complex world.
* Dark Longing (Pure/ Dark Ones #2) by Aja James : unique for the ancient history (Akkadian empire) and the star-crossed love between a Dark One and a human (and Pure One)
* Dark Desires (Pure/ Dark Ones #3) by Aja James : unique in that it's totally set in Japan, with modern and historical Japan, and Ninja assassin-shadow warrior, and the very focused nature of the book without a lot of POVs
* Dark Pleasures (Pure/ Dark Ones #4) by Aja James : unique for the heroine with Asperger's. And this novel pulls many of the threads from book 1-3 together. This is where the entire series just rachets to a whole new speed
* Pure Rapture (Pure/ Dark Ones #5) by Aja James : unique for the introduction of "shifter" and the tortured love that spans thousands of years. This one totally RUINED me!
* Dark Redemption (Pure/ Dark Ones #6) by Aja James : unique for the man with no memory (who is actually a vampire shadow warrior) and a BADDIE from previous novels! who is redeemed
* Pure Awakening (Pure/ Dark Ones 6.5) by Aja James : unique in that the entire novella is told from Sophia's first person POV, and you see more than what's been shown thus far (admittedly didn't like her until now) and why she's the way she is
* Pure Ecstasy (Pure/ Dark Ones #7) by Aja James : unique in the focus on the heroine, the most alpha, sensual of all heroines - the most powerful Dark queen in the world, and how Seth wins her love, plus the vivid details into her Chinese background. This couple was introduced in book ONE. This is how interwoven this world is. AND the intrigue in politics of the Dark Ones world
* Dark Obsession (Pure/Dark Ones #8) by Aja James : unique for the animal spirits. Enough said. Totally added a whole new dimension to the series!
* Pure Providence (Pure/ Dark Ones #8.5) by Aja James : unique for the entire POV in Dalair's words. A mysterious character we meet in BOOK ONE and Sophia's true love. The HURT! This one totally wrecks you.
*Which brings me to Pure Magnetism (Pure/ Dark Ones #9) by Aja James THIS BOOK...unique for THE TIGER KING! A man who doesn't speak, yet whose personality and presence are larger than life. An animal who falls in love with an ordinary human woman. THE HUMOR!

I guess I kinda reviewed the whole series instead of this book, but you can't possibly appreciate how AMAZING this book is if you don't realize how UNIQUE it is. The author's ability to adapt different styles to the story being told is truly - what was the word Deb used? thaumaturge?--AJ is THAT. A magician. A sorceress (not the evil one who held Goya prisoner obviously). A goddess. I can't get enough of this series!!!

Don't be afraid tho - start anywhere in the series that you want. Each story is a romance standalone with an HEA. (Tho of course the stories about the couples introduced earlier keep going).

Read it because it will:
*Crack you up
*Make you swoon
*Make you bite your nails with anticipation and suspense
*Make you want to eat eggplants
*Make you appreciate your BFFs
*Make you want to hang out at the zoo in front of a tiger cage or watch lots of national geographic or look at "eggplant" pics

Don't know what else to say.

READ IT!!!!

5 'magnetic' stars

The stronger you are, the greater your weakness.

When I started reading this book, I couldn't quite imagine how Maddie and Goya would fit together. They were so different from each other - An immortal Tiger King and a-little-crazy-all-over-the-place divorced, single mom. I mean, an odd combination. But God, I loved them together so much. I think they became my favorite couple. After Tal and Ishtar, of course. Nothing can get between me and my precious heartbreaking, star-crossed, beautiful lovebirds le sigh What was I talking about? Right, Tiger and Maddie le sigh again

Maddie, who is warm and soft and hugable and all sorts of fluffy things.

“Maddie, you’re adorable. So adorable I just want to eat you up sometimes.”

I totally see us being BFFs. Except we have different views about the meaning 'tidy house'. I have clothes on every possible surface, shoes everywhere and always manage to get nail polish all over the most inconvenient places. And I call that homely. She would probably say it's a disastrous mess, LOL.

And Goya... I'm gonna just call him Tiger, like Maddie does. I always think of romantic Spanish painter whenever I hear the name Goya. So, Tiger. He's such a unique character. Having only Pure and Dark ones for MCs before, he was a welcome novelty.

The animal, the man.
The prisoner, the king.

I adore how he was absolutely clueless one moment and then the other time all confident and alfa. A mixture of pure innocence and total hotness.

You want to know me, little cat, he said to her silently. Look at the male who is loving you, inside you, now.

Also, I liked so much the relationship between Tiger and Logan. How protective and fatherly was Tiger to the little 'cub'. Another awesome thing was the friendship between Maddie and her BFFs. I wonder if we will see Mike and Yas again. Especially after the info about how they were all over And of course, Maddie and Tiger were so great together. I liked there was less angst in their relationship and more sweeter & funnier moments.

She felt like a plump marsh mellow toasting over a fire every time she was near him.

“It is you,” she whispered. “For a second there I thought I might have thrown myself at the wrong tiger.”

As for side stories, we got some very interesting info about Ramses. With every book, I'm more and more intrigued by him and he got me completely overwhelmed the first time he appeared, so that's saying something.

Second, can Dalair please, please be saved. I can't read about him being tortured anymore. For a second I literally wished that Yeah, it's that bad. It's killing me how he's treated. Poor man.

And lastly, omg, I can't remember when I last encountered so annoying villains as Medusa and Waner. Twin Goddesses above, that last dialogue... I can't spend any more time in their heads. I assume their death will be the endgame and I don't know how many books are yet to come but I can tell you, I will spend all of them fantasizing about how will they go down. They deserve something epically gruesome.

And now we have to wait for Cloud to finally man up and give Aella the ride of her life. I think we are all - not just Aella - impatiently waiting for that LOL

The ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Aja!

A kind of different pic inspiration. White tiger - one of the most beautiful creatures in the world.

One of my favorite poems: The Tyger, by William Blake.

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies,
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp!

When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

I went into this book with so many questions, and yet they all fled my mind because... GOYA!! My bookish friends, those who put me onto this series and have been encouraging me to fall for these characters, know exactly what I'm talking about.

Goya was an incredible, honorable, fierce tiger, the TIGER KING, and he was beautifully broken. I don't even know how being in pieces can make a male so gorgeous, but that's what he was. I want to claim him for my harem, but Cécile doesn't seem to want to share! 😭😭😭

No female will ever ride me like this, he vowed silently, willing her to understand through their fused gazes. No female will ever own me like this. Only you, Maddie mine. Only you will have the power to break me. He opened his eyes wide, then, and let her see everything inside of him. The animal, the man. The prisoner, the king.

I don't even know how him being silent could be so hot. Maddie did all the talking and her inner musings were hilarious! Everything she said or did showed how awesome she was. Sweet, kind and generous... she was the perfect person to help a lost tiger. She’d never met a man who purred. It was the most fascinating and sexy sound... Her inner slut cackled like it was on crack.

The elements have been referred to before, but I need to know what their importance is? Ramses has now confirmed that he his an Earth elemental, which is cool because Eli is wind and Clara is fire. So who is water? And isn't Goya an Earth elemental as well? With him being at least 12,000 years old, wouldn't that make him like ten times stronger than Ramses? Hello?! He's the King of Beasts!! And if Goya isn't the strongest right now, is it because he hasn't realized his full capabilities, such as having control over any living or non-living thing?

And why is Ramses being set as someone not to be trusted? What the heck is his real agenda?

Am I bad person for thinking the scenes between Medusa and Wan'er were hilarious? How funny was it that Wan'er used her? Their final transformation sounds disgusting and I can't wait until they die. I still want it to be graphic, bloody, torturous, and final.

Whatever, Goya was awesome, Maddie was awesome, even her brat of a son was on his way to being awesome. I love all of these characters so much and I can't wait to see if The Creature finally learns about its parentage!!

Only you will have the power to break me.

Aja James is THE QUEEN OF RANGE! Who would’ve thought that Goya’s book would have humor in it? Not me, that’s for sure. Pure Magnetism was a nice reprieve from Dalair’s heart shattering novella, which isn’t to say that this book didn’t have moments that tugged at my heart strings – because it most certainly did.

Plot wise, this series just keeps on sucking me in! The fantastic world building is rich in depth and complexity and gets better with each book. If Aja James were to ever write a book purely about the lore and mythology (like a Bible/handbook sort of thing), I’d read the hell out of it… The snippets of oral lore from the Twin Goddesses left me wanting so much more! Beautiful stuff!

Goya had probably one of the coolest backstories in this series because his past shows us just how integral he is to the overarching plot and why everyone's trying to find him. But in those flashbacks, I really enjoyed the tender moments he had with his sire, even though it broke my heart into smithereens. Baby Goya!! *sob*. And honestly, I can totally see why there are readers fighting over Goya. I mean, those eyes… that eight-pack… the wildness... that #eggplant… damn. Apart from being a fine specimen, Goya was a rich and complex character and it was interesting to see how he navigated between two worlds and how he dealt with the warring nature inside him. Instead of doing the clichéd thing and choosing between beast v. man, love v. freedom, I like that he chose all of the above!

It was the curse of every Beast: to have the undying loyalty of the purest animal, and to love deeper than any man…

As far as heroines go, Maddie is probably my least favorite (sorry to any Maddie lovers out there). I felt really bad for Maddie... Her ex-husband was basically a shit stain and her nine-year-old son, Logan, was acting like Satan incarnate (just kidding, he actually gets better). Her family members are all horrible people and her work life isn't any better. So I truly felt bad for her but at the same time I just couldn’t really bring myself to like her. In fact, I liked her friend Yasmine way more. Perhaps I’ll like Maddie more after a reread or in the later books...

All in all, there's no denying that Maddie and Goya were perfect mates – both possessive in their own way and deeply loving of each other. I loved the way they understood and communicated with each other. The way Maddie understood all of Goya's complexities and accepted him for who he was (even as a stinky hobo) was very endearing. Goya's already been through so much, so she got bonus points for that. But my highlight definitely has to be Goya comparing Maddie to animals... my favorite being the manul cat, that cracked me up so hard!

Oh, and the steaminess? Out of this world…

The over-arching plot continues TO GET EVEN CRAZIER and just when I thought nothing could possibly phase me anymore... A NEW MAJOR PLOT TWIST OCCURS! Never would’ve guessed in a million years!

Overall, Pure Magnetism was a surprisingly funny read and I think it’s a great testament to James’s writing abilities. I just really wish there had been more at the end and a moment with Goya and Maximus. That would’ve been the cherry on the cake! Oh wells. I’m really looking forward to how everything is going to come together at the end. AND HOLY SMOKES, I rarely ever get this far into series and I’m already going on book 10?! Crazy stuff. Now, onto the much-anticipated Cloud Drako…

All i can say right now,is that every time i go back to My Beautiful Magnificent Magnetic Tiger King,i want to stay.
With my Soulmate,my Forever.

Everything else,i’ve already said ......

I really needed my time with Goya...My Tiger. He is the one that makes me feel só much better, the only one that can....His Majestic Magnetism works miracles. Damn, that man is fine, and best of all,he is.....MINE! Lol

But those two bitches? I can’t help but worry for everyone, and Dalair being there with them? Ouch...Somebody help him get away from that evil! Please!

When i started this series,i met so many beautiful people. Following their stories made them special to me. But i never had one that stood out,one that i could say “He Is The One For Me”. Until Dark Obsession. Meeting Max’s father, even if it was just briefly,i knew....and i was lost. Goya....his name alone makes me melt. Now? After getting to KNOW him? I realise i can’t review that Majestic, that Magnificant Tiger.

So,if you want a review,i suggest you read PUC’s. It’s awesome. It says it all. I’m not going to talk about those bitches and their evil plans. About Dalair. The Dark King,Ramses. Or anyone else. All i can do is share with you why i fell for The Tiger King,Goya.

Maddie knew very quickly what it felt like: Pure Magnetism, and she was spot on. Even in his “human” skin,he is thé most beautiful creature i have ever seen! DEVINE ROYALTY!

Looking in those deep blue eyes,i am lost. And the rumble of his purr....damn,that goes right down to my core, heating it up until i am melting in a puddle of need.

His huffs and chuffs are to die for. I totally understand Maddie when she loses all ability to think if he’s near....

And his eggplant...WOW! That eggplant is PERFECT for my casserole! With his inability to talk, you’d think he’s hard to understand, that it’s hard to know what he thinks or feels. Maddie understands just fine, and so do i! The pain in his eyes when he thinks of his past....
It was agony, and all i wanted to do,was take care of him. Soothe him.

The look in his eyes when he’s embarrassed, his posture when he’s angry. His satisfaction after pleasing his little manul cat. It all shows! He doesn’t need words! When he finally shows Maddie his Tiger, she’s in awe of this beautiful Beast. How could she not be? He IS Magnificant!

And even though their road is rocky, sometimes because of misunderstandings or circumstances with a SOB ex and a sh**ty colleague, sometimes because of evil plans,i was só happy when they found what they needed. Their own little piece of heaven. And i was there....loving every minute.

A word of warning to all those hussies out there, that want to steal MY Tiger....
THIS MAN IS MINE!❤️🐾🥰

Pure Magnetism is the 9th installment in the Pure/Dark Ones series that focuses on a sub-population of the pure group. This story should not be read as a standalone as the world-building is complex and each book reveals more about the essence of this intriguing tale. Please note that if you have NOT read the previous books in this series, this review will contain spoilers.

This story is about Goya, one of the only remaining Pure Beasts: he is a white Siberian Tiger in his primary form. As most of those in this classification are hybrids, they spend much of their time in human form; Goya's son, Maximus, is one of these. Goya and Maximus were only recently reunited after many centuries apart. Though his son is the product of forced sexual slavery, Goya still feels a strong link to Max, and they attempted to forge a bond in a previous story in this series, but were tragically interrupted by the mercenaries working under the influence of Medusa, the powerful "mistress of evil," to put it into the simplest of terms. During this attack, many of the beasts were killed, some were captured, and others narrowly escaped. Goya and Maximus worked together to free those who were imprisoned, and in the process of escaping themselves, Goya was struck in the head by a bullet that did not kill him, but instead, rendered him incapable of shifting into his primary tiger form. As he is unable to change, he nearly drowned but was rescued by a fishing boat who took him to land in Maine. Though he was to rendezvous with his kind in Canada, he felt somehow drawn to this area and found himself unwilling to leave it. Despite the fact that he could not speak or write, had no clothes, and no food or shelter, he was able to find a means of making enough money to sustain himself (though barely) working at a construction site.

Maddie has had the worst of luck with men all of her life. Her husband cheated on her, she has custody of a son who appears to blame HER for the divorce, and now she has been overlooked for a promotion she more than earned by an entitled pretty boy jerkwad. As if that weren't enough to put her in a bad mood, she has also had the day from hell that has culminated in rear ending a brand new Mercedes with her beat up hunk of tin because she was, of all things, looking at a man! But this man..... wow. 100% ogle-worthy, drop-dead gorgeous, shirtless male lifting impossibly heavy items on a construction site with relative ease. Maddie is not the only one objectifying this hunk of man - there appears to be a cat-call line of ladies drooling over and making offers to this unsuspecting man just trying to do his job. And from the looks of the very worn pants, lack of shirt, and shoes filled with holes, he desperately needs the work. Feeling guilty for her behavior, she approaches him to apologize... and is struck dumb by his intense blue eyes that seem to be a true window to his soul.

While Maddie stammers on, Goya is silent. Maddie soon realizes he can't or chooses not to speak, so she picks up signs from his body language and gaze. When this man who has nothing gives her everything he has to help her get home, she realizes there is much more to this guy than meets the eye. And when their paths soon cross again, neither of them seem to be able to separate from the other. But beasts, particularly Pure Beasts, mate intensely and for life. If Goya, who Maddie knows as "Tiger," gives himself over to Maddie, it is unlikely that he can ever return to lead his kind as they are from such different worlds. With the kind of luck Maddie has had with men, how can she trust this man who can't even speak to her? And if they can even somehow get past these major barriers, what will happen when Medusa's minions catch up with the coveted pure beast to capture him once again?

What I liked:
--- Goya: what's NOT to like? Strong, dark, buff, handsome hunk of man who doesn't talk? Sign me up for some of THAT
--- The author was able to write an incredible story despite the male MC's lack of ability to speak - a very challenging things to do, yet she pulled it off with ease to make the reader feel as if Goya was truly able to tell all with his intensity and sometimes nearly imperceptible gestures
--- Continuation of the grander scheme with a MAJOR twist towards the end (did NOT see that coming!)
--- Steamy goodness galore!

What I didn't like as much:
--- Maddie was so insecure that at times, it distracted from the story - she understandably had difficulty understanding why a man like Goya would want her when she has had such a rough time with men, but at a certain point, bemoaning her flaws became tiresome when it was evident Goya was beyond enamored with her regardless
--- Most of the time, there are more things happening with the other characters in the series; in this case, there wasn't as much of that (there were things happening with Medusa, but not much beyond that) - some brief hint with Ramses, but not much there; I kind of missed that aspect of the storytelling

Overall, another wonderful installment in this extremely addictive series! I'm looking forward to the next story featuring a character I have been long curious about: Cloud!

Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4/5 (Goya = 5/5; Maddie 3.5/5)
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4/5
Violence --- Some; possibly triggers re references to sexual slavery (though not explicit in this one)
Language --- not egregious
POV --- 3rd

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

My thanks to the author for the advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

My deepest gratitude to the author for the gift of an ARC. Here's my honest review.

Wow! This sizzling and super sexy love story has totally owned my heart. Not only because of all of the unapologetically racy images, or light-hearted ramblings from Maddie, whenever she looked at Tiger/Goya's body, but mostly because of how she went all out to take care of him and save him. I loved her emphatic heart when she hurt deeply for his pain, suffering, and helplessness.

This installment was unlike any of the previous stories in this series. Maddie and her two best friends' interaction was humorous and fun. While Goya's situation; unable to communicate verbally, no clues of human culture, and homelessness, was heart wrenching. The path to their happy ending was logic defying, yet so magical! I was choking up with happy tears at the end. Finally! The True Mate bonding scene! The Eternal Mates 💕

There were few fight scenes in the flashbacks. And there was only one major fight scene in the present, between two good guys. So it was super sad and really hurt to read. As for the top two villains, they had now reached the ultimate goal of becoming One unbeatable monster! They could be ready to destroy the world any moment now. I'm looking forward to seeing my side, the good guys's miraculous/counter-attack moves! Maybe in the next book? Please.

Sharing one of my favorite scenes:

"Tiger, don't be mad," she chuckled low. "I'm just happy that I have the privilege of being the first to kiss you, if that's why you're scowling so hard right now. I really, really want to kiss you. Hold still."

He dodged her puckered lips when she came at him like one of those she-apes in the jungle when they taunted predators from high up in their trees. Or taunted a stupid male ape in the mating ritual before pushing him off precarious limb.

Another LOVE! I can't remember the last time i read through an entire series like this but i just can't seem to get enough of these books!! Every single one has everything a great paranormal romance should encompass.... emotional angst, action and suspense, romance, lots of sexy times and really great world building! This one happened to throw in some comedy too, which i absolutely loved!
When Goya was describing how he viewed Maddie...as curvy and hippy and then said she reminded him of a Manul Cat, i had to google it since i'd never heard of such a thing and OMG, i was rolling!!! ...that was soooo funny!!! There were so many funny moments!
I was a bit nervous going into this one because i knew that Goya couldn't speak and one of my pet peeves in a book is when there's a lot of 'inner dialogue' and very little verbal communication between characters but i never once felt annoyed by the fact that he never spoke. I guess that's a testament to AJ's writing...you fall in love with the characters and their story no matter the situation. This is definitely being added to my list of favs!
On a side note...i'm SO excited that Dalair is finding a way to fight his 'programming!' I think it's pretty clear that we won't be seeing a book for him and Sophia anytime soon so i'm really hoping he isn't found out, in the mean time, and tortured anymore than he already has been...that would not be enjoyable! I'm also shocked at the Medusa/Wan'er 'wonder twins' combo...that's crazy!! Can't wait to see how everyone is going to react to that one!!

So. Aja James is f u n n y. We’re on the 9th tale of epic storytelling full of pain, hate, revenge, psycho-evil, love, devotion, tortured souls, childless parents, parentless children, imprisonments, rape, agony...over the course of thousands of years...god-awful, sob your tits-off reading trauma and THIS story is...a Comedy.

For the most part.
And I loved it.

Plus, truth, my 📱’s ringtone for the last 10 years has been Let’s Get It On 🎵-you’ll have to read Goya & Maddie’s story to understand why I 😉 about that.

Goya is twelve thousand years old. His Papa, snif, left his mortal-beastly-coil due to the lack of love from his ‘Mate’, Goya was brutally raped for years, then freed by his baby-boy-mini-me, built a safety-mountain for other needy creatures, found his now grown son, and watched it all get destroyed with a bullet to his skull so he can’t shift to Tiger form causing him to wind up working in construction for cash and being verbally harassed daily by horny women who oogle his shirtless, cause he’s poor as fuck eating out of trash cans, self.

Maddie, is a divorced mom of an almost-tweenage little asshole’ish son who’s got a cheating douche of an ex, a family that judges her harshly for being average in looks and all areas of her life, a bad work situation, and 30 extra pounds on her meaty tush.

Yeah...let me say for ALL the real women out there, Maddie may have it worse than The Tiger King. Can I get an Amen 🙌

Pure Magnetism is the story I’ll visit again and again for its humor and sweet love. It’s like a breath of helium in between the immense sorrow of painful love-stories like Ish/Tal and Sophia’s/Dalair (though clearly there is hope for both couples) - it’s got a Girl Posse (Yas is highly intriguing) and #Hashtag contests of fun. And it moves us towards what I view as one of the most important love-stories in this landscape -Benji & His Daddy.

Thank you for your humor, your art, & the gift of this ARC, Aja James. #TigerKing may have an enormous dick, but his biggest organ is his heart.

⚡🎵 I feel the need to warn you.
The stories in this series causes
Sever Book Hangover!
They are so good and get you so wrapped up in their world that
All Other Books Feel Humdrum.

Fantastic world build.
Goya and Maddie, the 2 mc's, are fantastic & I love them both.
New elements that inform us more about the Goddesses and the Creation of the 'Others'.
Flow of story is smoother than silk.
Both Maddie & Goya bring a good dose of humor to the series.

A very small portion deals with Medusa & Wan'er. That small portion is very potent!

In the last half I found some errors that I need to tell the author or her 'muses' about.
There are not many.

The last chapter & epilogue needs something.
I'm not sure what.
Maybe a little slowdown?

True review waiting for my reread.

Goya

IT IS OFFICIAL THAT GOYA IS RANKED WITH ENLIL AND TAL, I think I have a kink for the older and more powerful immortals. He is so freaking amazing, Maddie is so lucky, even though he couldn't talk she still understood him.

And he was so damn hot from his description.
Maddie helped him overcome his past and heal. I needed this book more than water, the way Goya described Maddie's cooking made me actually drool.
Logan was so rude, that boy needed a spanking. At least he realized the good in mom.

This book gave me actual shivers during the sex scenes.

Okay finally!!! Time to talk about a SEXY TIGER KING.
This was so amazing, really Aja is such a fantastic writer, and I thank her again for giving me the opportunity to read Pure Magnetism, it was such a pleasure.

Goya- What can I say about our wonderful Tiger King, he was such an enjoyable innocent kitten like character. We last saw Goya in Dark Obsession (Pure/Dark Ones #8) by Aja James and he was shot by none other then our mind controlled Dalair. Now Goya has lost an ability due to the shot wound and is all alone and homeless in the streets of Portland, Maine. He has to adapt and learn to live as a human to survive, but many of his past memories begin to surface and emotion becomes one of his biggest obsticles.

Maddie- Here come our heroine a total mother hen, who's fiercely protective of those she loves. Once she lays eyes on Goya, she instantly wants him, but first she wants to care for him, protect him, and get to know him. The thing is though Goya does not speak at all literately he does not utter a word for the entire story, yet Maddie's his "manul cat" understands him perfectly, she can read him, and is sympathetic and kind to him. All in all she his perfect match.

Also what I absolutely enjoyed was the development of the plot, its getting better and better. I was literally fan girling when we got a glimpse of Eli, and the sweet tidbits that Ramses shared on Elemental's. All our favorite characters make a quick tidbit, that didn't interrupt Maddies or Goyas story but added to it. It was just amazing writing and great world building. We get so much information on the Goddesses (Finally!!!) via Goya, and we get to see the evil plots from super baddies Medusa and the Fox spirit. The epilogue between these two was hilarious.
There was just so much information my greedy little mind was sucking it all up and I couldn't get enough. I literally can not wait for the next book!!!

I wish I could say more, but I really don't want to spoil it, and plus I just can't seem to put into word how truly wonderful this book is. JUST READ IT!!! You wont regret it.

On a side note, can I just say how much I enjoy the children and their POVs, Aja does such a great job of including them and making them vital characters to the stories.

(Sparkling, throbbing heart eyes) I WANT TO BE YOU, MADDIE. YOU ARE MY IDOL.

It’s no secret that this book took me the longest to read. I kept getting lost in daydreams of Goya. I’m getting distracted even while writing this review… Goya’s eyes crinkled a little as if he knew the effect he had on me, and he squeezed my hand to remind me to continue. 😳😳

So I highlighted 58 pages worth, 21,703 words of the book- enough for a novella. 😂 I adored it so much!!

Oh wow all that time we were reading about everyone else and I didn’t know Goya existed in the world? I feel sorry for my past self. Goya is a Beast, and that’s basically as god-tier as you can get. Of all immortal beings, they’re the most formidable and they’re invulnerable to nearly all immortals’ Gifts.

We have a great range of heroines, but Maddie is the absolute BEST. Since my #1 heroine was previously Grace, I can safely conclude I just really love human heroines. They’re so real. Not only does Maddie have a shitty freeloader cheating ex-husband, but she also has stretch marks, cellulite ass, and thighs that squished together, which incidentally was perfect for Goya (she was…meaty. Involuntarily, he licked his lips. and Reminding him of a small hippo, just the perfect size to fill his hands.)

You’re so unrefined, Madison. I don’t understand how your parents could be your parents. Your sisters are both so elegant and graceful and sophisticated and tall. Yet here you are, a strange, small aberration. Plain and mouthy. Bad-tempered. With a tendency to put on unflattering weight. You hit the jackpot when I married you.

Maddie doesn’t have it easy at work, struggling to prove her worth, and she doesn’t have it easy at home either, trying to connect with her son. Little did she know that at 32, her life had only just begun.

When we met Tiger, he was being catcalled and ogled shamelessly while working at the side of the road.

He hated the attention. Having been caged and exploited against his will to harness power before, he wanted nothing to do with humans. Maddie wasn’t innocent either – she was panting out her car window at him and got into an accident LOL! But then she noticed the deplorable state of his pants and shoes, his apparent poverty, and was sincerely sorry for the objectification.

His upper lip curled in a snarl. How he hated the disgusting, conniving, deceitful bipeds. And look, one of those panting human females from earlier was walking toward him.

She apologised, while trying hard to hold her breath to not gag at his unwashed B.O., LOL!

She took a deep breath, which made her well-developed chest inflate in the most hypnotic way. Then, her face turned a little green as she seemed to regret the inhale of air, and she breathed out through her mouth.

In contrast, her scent had the Beast in Goya roaring MINE. 🤣

Goya was nonplussed. This lowly human woman couldn’t possibly be the one for him. He’d rejected queens and princesses, powerful Pure and Dark Ones directly descendant from the Goddesses themselves.

Ugh I just loved the pairing so so so much!! It was seriously so heart-breaking to think of the majestic Tiger King, created as warriors to win wars among gods, reduced to sleeping under bridges and digging the waste bins for food scraps. But he was AMAZING. He gave a homeless man the shirt off his back and all the money he had. And he gave her all his money too!

He thrust the money at her more forcefully. She was just a small female manul. Every instinct told him to protect and provide for her. In the human world, bits of green paper and plastic cards seemed to convey value. Perhaps she could obtain something she wanted with the green paper he earned.

AWWWWWW Goyaaa!!

And when she found him scavenging for scraps of food in the alley (cos he already gave her all his money for food 😭😭😭), she braved herself to approach him again.

“I thought maybe you’d like to go to dinner with me? Not a date or anything. Ha ha!” Her false laugh made him wince. She winced too.

The first time Maddie fed him was sooo endearing.

The little manul woman, Maddie, sat across the table from him, looking flummoxed. He didn’t know whether she was perplexed by the speed with which he ate, the amount he ate, or the way he ate.

She patiently cooked and baked and fed him for hours, trying to assuage his tiger’s appetite.

Goya finally stood from his stool, because his full stomach couldn’t bear to be folded any more.

Maddie flung herself on a long, tufted object in the adjoining room and covered her eyes with her forearm. “That was the most exhausting meal I ever made!” Goya released a loud belch to let her know that he appreciated her hard work. She sat up with a giggle and wiped her eyes with her hands. “You are the most revoltingly attractive and attractively revolting man I’ve ever met,” she said nonsensically.

And he didn’t accept food from anyone else from then on because he was hers alone to feed. 💔Have I made it clear that I adore Maddie? She hated mess and dirtiness, but she was so patient with him and helped him, knowing he didn’t know any better. And when she was well, helping him and she started silently counting, oh Maddie you baddie. 😆

There was so much hand holding weeeee!!

He squeezed her hand again. “What?” she asked, her smile broadening into a grin. “You want me to call you ‘tiger’?” He met her gaze and slowly inclined his head. She grinned.

And the first kiss aaaaa!! With her giggling and him trying to avoid them on his mouth (What was this “kissing” she insisted on?) 😚

Maddie was just so full of empathy. Who else can the Beast communicate so clearly with, in the absence of words?

Her total infatuation with him was contagious!

She’d been reliving that moment in frame-by-frame slow motion too many times to count in her day and night dreams over the past forty-eight hours.

Her eyeballs all but pulled themselves out of their sockets trying to get a better look.

“And that’s my eggplant they’re dreaming about!” (this made me think of Cecile HAHA)

“She’s got a strange, twitchy look on her face. Like she’s half smiling, half leering.” “She’s thinking about that gorgeous Tiger of hers.” “I think she just growled.” “No, that was a leering cackle.” “Maddie, you’re drooling, you know.” Maddie swiped a tongue around her mouth. “At least she’s hearing us.”

Logan was already waiting impatiently in the backseat, having fixed his own breakfast, finished eating and packed his lunch. Maddie should have felt guilty, but she was wearing the biggest, most satisfied grin on her face. Not the most convincing look of contrition. “You look like the Joker, Mom. Stop that. You’re going to scare the squirrels.” “Sorry.” Maddie said reflexively, and forcibly flattened her lips, started up the engine and backed out the driveway. But then, the grin spread again as if she had no control over her facial muscles.

I loved how generous and considerate they were to each other. Like when he slept on the floor because he wasn’t sure if he was clean enough. And hoping to keep his clothes clean because it was a gift from her - clothes which she scrubbed to softness because she noticed that they irritated his skin. And how he worried about fitting their lives together, respecting her independence and never simply assuming that she would leave everything behind, despite being the Tiger King. He even allowed himself to be dressed up in a tux for her to show him off (boast).

I loved Goya’s unconditional loyalty and undying love, willing to die than live without her. Beasts feel emotions more intensely than any other, which is saying a lot considering what we know of the Pure Ones and Dark Ones and their Mates.

And that was when the high school senior saw Goya. “Fuck me,” she breathed. That will never happen, Goya thought, bristling at the outrageous request. He’d heard the term before. It meant rutting. 🤣🤣 He focused on Maddie. He didn’t mind her covetous stares. They made him want to preen like a peacock.

I’m so happy Goya had such a wonderful, loving father. I lost about a litre of tears when the cub rushed into the unknown to save him, and seriously the scene was just so magical and fantastic and majestic and magnificent and I was in such awe!

Goya bounded endlessly across the earth, across mountains, deserts, forests and jungles. He raced to places he’d never seen, met Beasts and Immortals he’d never known existed. The King of the Sea, a serpent with glistening blue and black scales, carried him across choppy waters to a faraway land. The King of the Sky, an eagle with wings of red flame, flew him to the highest mountain’s highest peak. There, the eagle left Goya, where land and sea and sky seemed to merge within a haze of clouds so thick, he thought he might even be able to walk on them. And then he did.

CAN YOU IMAGINE!! Don’t you love the writing?? Can the author please write a book with Greek mythology? I would love that so hard!

There’s something so mesmerising about his natural authority that made others follow him, because they can intuit that he protects the weak with all his strength. With just a look, he can say so much and get her son to be on his best behaviour.

“It’s nice talking to you, Tiger,” Logan said somewhat shyly. “Dad never talks to me like this.” Neither male thought it ironic that Goya hadn’t said a single word.

When Maddie was muttering to herself, Never walked so many miles in all my life, and finally reached him I was screaming on the inside and fanning myself on the outside GAHH so cuteeeee.

“I really want to pet you. May I?” Eh?

Not what he was expecting her to say. He stared solemnly at her, trying to convey the gravity of the situation. He wasn’t some kitten she could cuddle and croon to and all would be forgiven. She’d hurt him. She’d rejected him. She— She suddenly charged the last few steps and flung herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his fur.

“It is you,” she whispered. “For a second there I thought I might have thrown myself at the wrong tiger.” Goya couldn’t help the startled chuff that escaped. This woman would be the death of him.

Can’t wait to see lots and lots of little Tigers running around, chasing little Maddies.

Also I can’t not mention the wonderful female friendships! It made the book 10x better!

Other thoughts:

I miss Valerius. Sniff. He’s hardly in the books. I was excited at the mention of his scythe but it was just a passing comment, sigh.

Maximus and Ariel are still cute - “Why do you do that?” The Commander of the Chosen sighed with amusement and exasperation and looked at the king meaningfully. His gaze said, because in this form, she gets to be naughty and possessive and gets away with it.

There was a glossary of characters at the end which distracted me further. I felt like I was browsing through the most intriguing catalogue.

Hmmm.. Choices, choices. Maximus Justus Copernicus: The Commander? Devlin Sinclair: The Hunter? Valerius Marcus Ambrosius: The Protector? Tal Telal: The General? Dalair: The ex-Paladin? Goya: The Tiger King?

I feel like I need to put pen to paper, proper methodical analysis of how I feel about each of them.  😂😂 I’m glad I’ve been writing these reviews so I can easily relive each crush. Please someone tell me I'm not the only one this unhinged.

AAAHHHHH! This book takes the cake. What cake, you ask? ALL THE CAKE. As I said in my updates while reading: This book killed me. I suffered from a heart attack and exploding ovaries, and it was a gruesome death, but IT HURT SO GOOD.

Yes, you may think I sound kinda freaky but that is because this book broke my brain. It was that amazing.

Queen Aja is a freaking genius for capturing Goya's complex, deep character when he doesn't have a single word of dialogue in the entire book. I still can't wrap my head around how he managed to convey so much and communicate so well with Maddie, but he did.

My only complaint was I wish there a bit more time of them together after Maddie learned everything and Goya could shift again. I was dying to see her reaction to learning who he really was, (he's not just a tiger, girl, he's THE tiger!) and I wanted to just revel in the orgasmic bliss of their HEA a little longer. Maybe I'm just a little obsessed...

Okay, excuse me, I'm off to go lay in my grave now. #dead #murderingmeat

5 stars for being the most fun of the series so far. I giggled quite a few times as I read this. Sure there was a plot and darkness and sad backstory but still it was surprisingly lighthearted at times. The purity of Goya and the way he acts, the openness of Maddie....yeah a fun read.

Goya...his backstory unlocked the heart of Pure and Dark history in particular we now know the reason for the Decline. Very well done Ms. James!!! I like the way she wrote Goya. He's all instinct, like the Royal Beast he is, and the way he finds himself exploring and connecting with his Mate was heartwarming.

Talking of Maddie...I think she's the most human of all the 'mates' so far. She has her girl posse, a slimy ex, family issues, work issues and an annoying pre-teen. She's normal. She has a busy life, although not very fulfilling, and I loved how she reacted to 'Tiger' and fell for him even though he had weird habits and was mute.

Dalair still fighting in his subtle ways...keep hanging on! There better be an epic reunion with Sophia at some point or I'll stage a protest.

Medusa is evil but I hate Wan'er more. The whole betrayal was expected yet shocking....I expected the backstabbing, just not the Hydra part. Though it did give me the idea for a perfect description of the evil ones in pic form...gotta love Marvel (kind of obsessed with it really) which won't load 😭 so the url is below

Pure Magnetism gave me a bunch of people to hate. Seriously, so freaking many people deserve a good bitch slap from me. Yes, I'm looking at the ex-husband, the older sister, the coworker, and the parents to top it all off. I can't wait for my girl Karma to come visit you all.

Now besides those little twatwaffles, I absolutely adored Goya and Maddie. I mean Maddie really deserved someone nice and protective in her life. Hot damn! So when the silent mysterious guy runs into her life - I was there for it all. Each and every sexual tension/teasing filled moment was devoured by me. I loved it all and basically screamed at my computer when I got to certain scenes.

All I'm going to say is that I am one happy girl with this book. Especially with the ending being a little cherry on top. I freaked out for a minute or two because they can now communicate! I'm wondering if Logan will somehow be able to hear Goya in his head? Maybe? I think that would be super cool if he could. Just saying.

Oh! Before I forget.. that little hydra moment and kiss between Medusa and Dalair was gross and interesting. The hydra part not the kiss. That still grosses me out. I'm not sure why Dalair is still there and didn't silently walk out of that crazy lair but I'm sure he has his reasons. The hydra better not try to kiss him again. Or anything else. I will riot if something happens.

This book had a rom-com feel which was unexpected. It was hilarious really. It was a nice (and necessary i think) change from the darkness of the previous few books. I loved Maddie and her gals and hope to see more of them in the near future. Goya was amazing and i loved the fact that he couldn't speak or write a word but could communicate so well with Maddie. Also the fact that he could set Logan straight with a look.

My only complain is that we didn't get any Goya/Maximus interaction and also i felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Otherwise, another great addition in this addictive series.

Sorry ladies...This review took a bit of time because after basically inhaling this story, my poor legs needed a moment because they are WEAK AS FUCK (Rawr!)

How is it possible that Goya did. not. speak. a. single. mothaf*king. word. throughout the WHOLE book and still managed to ooze so much feels and sex appeal. He was putting bitches in their place just like that. Like how, Aja, how do you do it?

I'm not good with writing reviews but I have to say, after Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I lost faith that there would be another world so well developed with overarching and complex plot-lines, interesting and lust-worthy (wipes drool) alpha's (Male AND Female in this particular case). This series certainly has proved me wrong (i willingly submit!). "in fact, to add the cherry on the cake, the hilarious moments drip dropped throughout is just freaking outstanding!

Goya... oh Goya... I could gobble you up. Your soul is so pure. Your character fierce. Your broken pieces so precious!

And what's most unexpected is the mate of the Tiger King. In a good way! Let's talk about The Mad Hatter. This girl be on fire!! Aja managed to match an ordinary human to one of the most powerful and fearsome beings in this series. And she didn't stay there (oh no, not for Aja). She went on to create a beautiful connection using a seamless, breathtaking journey between two most unexpected type fo characters.

I AM SUCKED IN AND SAD THAT I HAVE CAUGHT UP.

Aja... you have given me a quarter life crisis.

Cecile, my friend... I have been tossing and turning to challenge you (Rawr!) or concede to your statement

Peace + Love

I very much enjoyed Medusa with her crazy anime villain mind and nefarious machinations. The more you think that they've unraveled her plots, the more that spring up, Who is more devious, the nine fox or the infamous Medusa?

And yes, I know there is still much to learn because Aja's mind is a cave of wonders.

5 stars! Spoilers ahead...

This is hands down my favorite so far. I was told Tiger is Cecile's (don't worry he's yours!😂) haha but he is definitely my favorite hero of this series next to Seth.

I love Pallas cats so when Goya/Tiger called Maddie a manul cat I was excited. They're so cute, cuddly, loyal and loving but vicious when they need to be. I loved being able to see that come out in her personality which by the way was so fun! I struggled with developing a picture in my head of what Maddie would look like. But I finally settled with a likeness to Jenna Coleman. Her word vomit was so funny and made her such a real character for me. I especially loved her friends Mike and Yasmin. The three of them were hilarious together.

Goya's/Tiger's inner dialogue was so endearing. The guy didn't speak and I found myself totally in love with him. I guess the whole actions speak louder than words reigns true. He was so primal. Although I'll never look at a melon without thinking of an udder now lol. I imagined him as Joe Manganiello when he played Alcide from true blood. I loved how he helped Logan to respect his mom and the scene with Logan showing Goya how to brush his teeth was so heart meltingly cute.

This story took a while to get to the steamy bits but once it got there, it was delicious. Maddie and Tiger were so perfect together. The ending where Maddie is hiking to find Goya was cute and spicy. Now it wouldn't be a James novel without the hero or heroine having some broken pieces. Tiger's past was so very sad but Maddie put his broken pieces back together. I just loved this couple.

This story was a lot more couple centered (don't mistake me though. It was action packed) and so we didn't get as many parts with other characters but when they were thrown in, it pushed the story forward and I'm itching to see what's next (looking at you Dalair...and Ramses).

If you haven't read this series, I highly suggest you do and make sure to start at the beginning.

In the words of Aja James, #LongLiveTheTigerKing

This series is on fire 🔥🔥🔥Goya big strong and silent except for growls, chuffing and purring 🐅 There was something so adorable about Maddie and Goya’s relationship and how she took care of him when he was so vulnerable. Awwwwww❤️. Loved it when he threw the ex out the house lol. Sexy good times abound too 😉

First thanks to Aja for the opportunity to read this book. Goya also know as Tiger to Maddie is a Royal Beast he has been trapped in human form and it’s hard for him to fit in. He doesn’t like crowds or all of the attention he gets from the humans he actually hates it. He doesn’t like being touched thanks to his time as a prisoner of the vampire sorceress Circe. Goya has a soul deep pain from his time as her prisoner and he was taught what humiliation was thanks to her.
Maddie is a human and a single mother to Logan she is just trying to do the best she can and still has to put up with her ex-husband Richard. Richard has damaged her self worth and her self esteem but she is still one of the nicest people you can meet.
Maddie sees Goya (Tiger) on her way home for work one day , he is working at construction on the side of the road and women and even some men yell out to him and even she is ogled him. But as he was turning away he caught her eyes and in them she saw hate and she realized he hated all of the attention he was getting he just wanted to be left alone. She became so distracted that she let her foot off the break and hit the car behind her, as she was waiting for the tow truck she went to apologize to him and that is how they met.
Now Maddie has brought Goya to her home he knows he has found his Mate but will she accept him if she knows what he really is. Can Maddie ever love someone that is more beast than man. As Maddie takes a walk on the wild side with Goya will she learn what love really is, because as with all beasts they have no artifice as humans do. Once they love it is eternal and true, you will be their everything and without you they cease to be what they were until they are no more. Join Goya and Maddie as they discover that love can heal the deepest wounds.
You will be on the edge of your seat as you go along on the journey with the Tiger King and The lovable Maddie and her precocious son Logan. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to you and the entire series , once you start you just can’t stop.

Ok review time!
I love all Aja's heroes but I always have doubts with heroines specially If they are new.
But surprisingly enough I loved all her heroines expect one and Maddie was hard to dislike.
She made me laugh within minutes ^^ She was perfect for him in so many levels.
A talkative heroine for our mute hero :3 I liked how she really really saw him not just as an eye candy (which of course he is) she noticed every little things about him and every
day she proved how much she really saw and cared.

What can I say about Goya that everyone else didn't?
He is literally the dream guy we all want. 💕
And unexpectedly as I mentioned in the comments below he reminded me of another favorite hero: Ian from The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides, #1) by Jennifer Ashley
As my friend Princess mentioned probably because both are so pure and innocent.
I also loved his relationship with Maddie's son Logan, let me tell you rude kids are one of my triggers lol
I loved how Goya handled him without a word, Logan was a cute kid after that hehe.
_

As usual so much left to uncover and so many couples I need to read about, can't wait for Dalair T_T
I'm happy Cloud and Aella are next! Can't wait!

When starting this book I was in a sad place after reading the novella for Dalair, but this book turned it all around! I was already excited to read about Goya! After finding out about him in Max’s book I had a feeling Goya was going to be exciting! And boy was I right! He’s back story at times was heart breaking. That’s all I’m going to say cause I’m not going to spoil this for anyone! To have more of the back story from previous novels this poor man had been through a lot. But BAM Maddie comes along and omg she is hilarious!! Both of them together you would feel like wow they are so different, but the moment they start to get to know each other they just work together so perfectly! When I say I’ve never laughed so hard I’m beyond serious! I’m so glad Maddie and Goya got the happily ever after they both deserved!! This series I swear! Not enough words! Love this series!
