As an Army Ranger and now an NYPD detective, Logan Taylor has narrowly escaped death more times than he cares to remember. After his last shooting, he heads to Lake Placid to recover and think about his future. About the fortune he has that no one knows about. But more importantly to spend time with the woman he foolishly turned away months before.
Kennedy Miles is no weak willed damsel in distress and she loathes anyone who thinks she is. Her father and brother taught her to be independent and stand on her own two feet. She doesn’t need a man to protect her and doesn’t want one. What she wants is Logan who she’s had a crush on for years and rejected her after she put herself out there more than ever before. Now he’s back and she’s wondering what his true reasons might be.
If there's one thing I can't stand it's a woman who is so full of herself that she can't understand reasoning and wants total control of every situation. That was Kennedy and I'm sorry but I couldn't stand her. I liked Logan. He was a great guy and his reasons made complete sense to me. But Kennedy seriously soured this book for me.
I absolutely loved this book and took my time for a change reading it and just enjoying it. I absolutely loved Logan and Kennedy and that they finally let themselves explore their connection from all of their years as "friends" thru her brother Trevor. Logan got on my nerves a little with keeping his secret but I understood it as well just like Kennedy did when it came down to it. Great job and I love this couple! Great to see some of the prior couples and folks as well from the previous books too.
Loved this story! Kennedy is taught how to defend herself by her Dad and older brother. Although it bothers most of her dates how independent she is and she can take of herself she refuses to change. Logan enters the picture and finds her to be perfect the way she is!
Logan and Kennedy are each hiding something from the other one. Logan has learned in his life to be close-lipped and keep most of his life a mystery. He has watched his mother marry men for their money and doesn't want to find a woman willing to do the same to him. He feels justified in keeping this to himself and hasn't even told his best friend, Trevor, the truth. Kennedy is Trevor's sister and they almost hooked up at Trevor's wedding. Logan did the right thing and Kennedy didn't react well to it at all. I thought Kennedy, for all of her proclamations that she could take care of herself and didn't need a man, she was awfully immature at points. She felt that Logan was keeping secrets, yet she kept some of her own. I felt that both of them needed to communicate more and lay their cards on the table, especially in light of the fact that each one has wanted the other one for years. I was hoping for a bit more of them spending more time together and less of them both being in their heads.
Enjoyable story about two people who were destined to be together. Logan is Travis' best friend. Kennedy is Travis' sister. Logan and Travis met while they were serving overseas and Logan and Kennedy did a bit of flirting on the phone and by mail. Years pass and both Travis and Logan are home and finally get together in Lake Placid.
In keeping with the rest of the books in this series the characters are likeable, and the chemistry is evident to the reader. Even though the books are part of a series, each book stands on its own and as a bonus the reader gets a glimpse into a few of the past characters and where they are now.
Very good story, enough angst to keep the reader interested, and just coincidentally it is a book about veterans and today is Veteran's Day. Another plus, you can read the whole series on Kindle Unlimited (and I think you'll want to read the series).
Kennedy has had a crush on her brother Trevor's best friend Logan for years and she even threw herself at him at Trevor's wedding, but he walked away. Now he's back recovering from physical and emotional injuries and trying to figure out what to do with his life and see if they could have a relationship. They both keep secrets, he about having money and she about her crazy ex. Kennedy is a tough independent woman with her own business and that has scared off many men, but not Logan. He loves that she has a black belt, kicks butt at paintball, and knows how to use a gun properly. But will small town Lake Placid be enough to keep a former army ranger and city cop? This was a sexy romance with plenty of humor and a few scary moments. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series.
