One night in the fall leads to a steamy winter... His kitten may have ended their relationship, but Darcy's intent on continuing the game. But before he can do much to win Elizabeth back, they are caught in a compromising position. Forced to flee Hertfordshire, Darcy attempts to hide from his guilt and sins in London. He never expects to leave his townhome again until a woman with knowledge of his past - and Elizabeth - hands him a familiar mask. It should be easy for Elizabeth to get over a man who never promised anything other than sinful delights. However, on a trip to London, she finds Darcy in the company with a strange woman and she knows that her heart is as compromised as her body. But that may not be the only danger, for soon after a kitten mask shows up on her relatives' doorstep. And though the winter nights may be cold, Elizabeth knows only one man can warm her... In this second-to-last installment of the Masquerade series, Darcy and Elizabeth must face scheming enemies, well-intended loved ones, and their own misgivings. This part contains steamy scenes that require smelling salts for those of a sensitive nature.
This is a good story but annoying in it format I was under the impression it was the final installment but no part 3 to come gŕrrrrrrr. Now it's a series. Now I have to wait not my favorite thing to do.
This dragged a bit. Not much happens except that our characters circle around each other, feel the same guilt over and over and don’t talk to the other. Makes for dull reading tbh.
There is an overarching blackmail plot happening which is why I am continuing. And the fact that I want my HEA
First, I would like to say that I hate series! I read the first book some time ago and waited until two and three have come out to get the last two books. I would rather see an author keep one book intact, especially when each book is 100 to 200 pages. If you mist, charge more for the book! Now that that is off my chest, let me get to the book. The second in the series continues much like the first as Darcy still struggles with how he feels about Elizabeth! He is so not the hero of the original P&P. He is wishy washy and angry with her all the time. I want to slap him for her! Now, I am continuing on to book three. Yes, I must know if he improves on better aquaintenance!
