John Calvin: His Life, His Teaching, And His Influence

Rate this book
To many the name of John Calvin brings to mind a religious despot whose teachings give a distorted version of the biblical God. That idea and image could be nothing further from the truth. This short biography of the great reformer who helped bring the gospel to light to the world shows that Calvin wanted no power and had no power and was a hunted man by the bloodthirsty Roman Catholic Church for wanting the world to have liberty in Christ.

A worthy read

This biography of John Calvin is dated, but the author shows a great deal of love and devotion to the man whose character and times he is sketching. One of the delight as a Christian in reading this biography is how the author uses Scripture to describe Calvin and the events that he was participant.

John Calvin's Impact

Although this book was written at the beginning of the last century, one can still read and look around the same behaviors and thoughts which have always plagued humanity. The question "Has God said?" Is still so relevant for today.
