Thank you for sharing the beginning! As a longtime fan, I enjoyed reading Best Kept Secrets! However, I have questions: 1. What did Teresa Kirkland die from ... since she called upon the last of her strength to visit Samuel to ask for his help for her son? 2. Did Teresa ever tell Joshua that she set out to seduce Samuel? 3. What happened to Everett Kirkland after Samuel fired him? Didn't Samuel purchase the house in Miami for them to live in? Why were they living in a cramped little house that Everett sold?

Wow this book had me feeling all type of emotions. I so thoroughly enjoyed it and would def recommend it to anyone. I recently stumbled upon the series and decided to start over by reading this first. Now I am so anxious to see how Sammy and MJ are in the earlier books considering how this story ended. I thought MJ was a great wife but Sammy would not let her in on some aspects of his life so that left room for Teresa to come in. I was sad that he loved her (Teresa ) and yes I think she was wrong in setting him up knowing he was married, and telling MJ the way she did but more mad at Sammy for not staying true to MJ like he promised her and her father. I hope they can heal further and MJ can let accept Joshua but I must admit that's a hard pill to swallow. Martin definitely did the right thing though. I too had to take a breather after this book it was that good and had me feeling all kind of emotions.

As romance novels go, this is a good one. No real plot, but it's a wonderful telling of the backstory for all of the Hideaway novels. I was engaged from the first page and could hardly book the book down.
