Be careful what you wish for...

Cronus Chrystell daydreams about finding his elusive fated, becoming king, and settling down with a family of his own.

Crystalla’s annual matchmaker’s ball presents an opportunity to cross one off his list—but everything changes when his father, the king, is murdered.

The tragedy exposes a curse afflicting both the Fae kingdom and Cronus’ lackluster love life. Once broken, Cronus learns his mates have been by his side the whole time.

Markus—a wanton demon whose tender touch bewitches Cronus’ heart.
Dene—a soft-spoken Selkie with a kiss that ignites Cronus’ carnal desires.

Now, the three men are free to delve into the depths of their fated connection—and once they do, sparks fly. Friends to lovers, their heated passion is all-consuming. The days and nights they spend together bring Cronus closer to the family he years for—and the crown.

But Cronus is not out of the woods yet. To become king, he must clear one final hurdle: claim his mates and sire an heir. The clock is ticking—and with a killer on the loose, Cronus has everything to lose.

BLACK MAGIC is the third novel in Siring an Heir. Each book follows a different cast of characters from the Nitehelm universe. This story is filled with love, magic, action, steamy m/m(+) scenes, and features harem and mpreg. (Suitable for ages 18+)

4.5 stars as there was really minimal drama as compared to the first 2 books. We met Cronus and Markus in the previous book as they came to seal Damon's animal into his son, which saves Damon from going feral. We find out that Cronus who is next in line to be king, has a spell put on him & his mates making it so that they can't sense each other as mates. What I liked, and you could tell from the moment you meet his mates, is that they all had grown to know each other & became friends. There is nothing he wouldn't have done for them & they him. When the spell is broken, he knows who his mates are & he is more than happy with the results as they are with him. The only real drama is that there is a traitor who is behind the spell that was initially cast. They find the holder of the magical book that has the spell in it but there is a page missing and that page names the traitor. What I didn't understand is that there is a scene where someone breaks into their personal rooms and when they are discovered, but never identified, they just so happen to have that page and dropped it. They assumed that it was the traitor but why would he be carrying that around with him and then drop it where they could find it. Why didn't he destroy it after their minion is captured? I kind of think it was someone else who was leaving that for them to help them out. I have no idea who it was or why they did it. Or I may be way off base & the taitor was just that dumb. Anyway, they find out that there is a plot to reek havoc on the human realm. So that portion is still open. We didn't meet anyone new, except for the children, or maybe we did & I just didn't realize it, so I don't know who the next main MC is.

I admit that from the initial lines of the blurb about a matchmaking ball I expected some variation on the Cinderella story. That was quickly changed when the murder occurs and a spell is broken. The mates had already been fated and it is our three who have already become good friends and are wonderful together. That checked the friends to lovers box for me. However, we still have the mystery of the murderous traitor who has been casting the spells endangering the kingdom. It seems there may be someone who knows the identity of the traitor and is trying to out them but I'm not quite sure. It was nice to see our guys get their HEA and I am enjoying the mystery aspects of the story as well. Itis clear the author has planned well and I look forward to more suspense and surprises in the future.

This third book in this series and the far prince, Cronus finds his mates have been by his side for years as his colleagues and friends. Unable to sense each other as this was blocked by some nasty magic in this lovely friends to lovers story.

There is quite a bit going on in this book, I enjoyed how Markus, Cronus and Dene worked together as a team, always for the good of all. There is plenty of drama, suspense and magic, it isn’t lacking in the heat dept either. Am looking looking forward to the next instalment.

I love the world the author created. Expertly weaving bits of previous stories with the current one making a much more complex world. With danger and suspense plus love and romance we get more into their world. With what was discovered in this one, I’m hoping for more or a spin off series. I was given this through Gay Romance Reviews and am voluntarily leaving a review. All three books in this series are beautiful. While you can read them alone I highly recommend reading them in order.

This is an enjoyable and entertaining read, and although you don't have have read the first two books, it fleshes out the world and characters a bit if you have. I like the way the books have intertwined characters, although. again, this book would read okay alone. The book has good friends, fated mates, a bit of suspense, traitors, surprises, and a nice helping of steam. There is minimal to moderate angst.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

This is a fun series to follow. Each book can be read as a standalone. In this book we learn Cronus, Markus, and Dene's story. Their job is to eradicate black magic from Nitehelm. So of course there is some black magic in this book. The overall story, though, I think is sweet. The fated mates adore each other and want to make the others happy. What could be better than that? I would definitely recommend this book as well as the other books in this series.

I really enjoyed this series.
The author did an amazing job of incorporating the previous books and weaving together a complex world.
There was danger, suspense, drama, twists and turns and ultimately betrayal.
The overall story was the friendship between these men that developed into a beautiful romance.

 Great Series to Follow

This one was more on the sweeter side, of the series. Even though there is drama it is minor compared to the first two books. Cronus, Markus and Dene's friendship is what really made this story sweeter.
