Not long after the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a treasury of letters to her confessor and bishop were found. To several people, Mother Teresa had expressed her wish that these be destroyed after her death. Fortunately for the Catholic world, and for the Dicastery for the Cause of Saints, the letters were discovered by one who immediately knew the great value that they would provide for the opening of a window into her soul. These letters revealed an interior suffering experienced only by great saints, but, was Mother Teresa experiencing the Dark Night of the Soul, as described by Saint John of the Cross, the Carmelite mystic of the sixteenth century and Doctor of the Church, in his work entitled The Dark Night, or was she merely psychologically clinically depressed? This book sets out to answer that question convincingly.
