Her Rough Ride

Rate this book
My name was Sebastian. But now they call me Slade. I’ve reinvented myself, become a man, been sworn into the Red Dragon MC. I’ve got tattooed and ripped to hell, I’ve cut my hair and my face now bears the scars of all the fights I’ve seen. The last thing I need is to face her again…

It’s been eight years since Maya ran away from the club. Sweet, beautiful Maya. My first love.

Why do I have to ride halfway across the country to pick her up? Because the club is at war, she’s the niece of our President and I’m the only brother who can be trusted to protect her.

She broke my heart, but I still want her. Do I ever. This woman is my goddess. She’s also my curse.

I need to focus on getting her home. But as soon as our eyes lock, she’s looking at me all kinds of ways. Like I’m the sexiest, most perfect stranger she’s ever seen.

And then I realise, I look completely different to the boy she once knew and she doesn’t even recognise me. I could tell her who I am. Or I could have a little fun with her first…

This sexy second novel in the Red Dragon MC series can also be read as a standalone. Fans of Kristen Ashley, Joanna Wylde and Madeline Sheehan will love the heart-stopping tension. Guaranteed HEA, no cliffhangers and no cheating.

Planes,Trains, Automobiles and some Harley’s.

Good MC story about a young girl, Maya who escapes with her mother from her Father’s MC where they were abused and ends up at her Uncles MC. It is hard for her to trust that it will be different, but she makes friends and spends her nights with a boy named Sebastian, who falls in love with her. He is smart and she asks him to tell her stories of the Greek gods as she falls asleep in his arms to escape her nightmares. However during the day, she acts as if she doesn’t know him and hangs out with his cousin Hawk.

One day something happens and she goes away, breaking his heart. Sebastian becomes a prospect and his MC name becomes Slade. He loses all traces of his former self, he becomes hard and a killer. Years later the MC is having trouble when an old foe is out to get them and teams up with Maya’s father which puts her in danger, so Slade has to fly out to San Diego and bring her back to Chicago to the MC compound for her own safety.

After arriving to get Maya, she doesn’t recognize Slade as Sebastian because he has grown in size and muscle mass, as well as acquiring a few scars and tattoos. After leaving on the plane, it lands halfway to Chicago due to a snowstorm, at which time they have to find alternate means to get back. It is pretty much as my heading states. The old principal where if something can go wrong, it will.

I was a bit disappointed in the romance on this one as it was pretty slow and not as steamy as it could be for an MC romance. But it wasn’t bad. Though the storyline was good and I was rooting for them to get together, the good story made up for the lack of steam.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Her Rough Ride is the second book in Heather Van Fleet's Red Dragons MC Series. This novel is based on Slade and Maya's love story and is told from both point of views.

Since Maya was a girl, she detested the club life. But all that came to a turning point when she met Sebastian Lattimore. He was the boy that told her stories and chased away all the nightmares that came lurking in the dead of night. He was the boy who gave her the first taste of what true love is all about. He was the boy she saw forever with. But he was the boy that she kept hidden away for the night time. When Maya realizes she needs to be open about her feelings for Sebastian she goes to tell him, and that trip ends in utter heartbreak with her packing her bags and taking off in the middle of the night to the one place she's always dreamed of going. California.

Now with all the trouble brewing within the club, Maya's Uncle Flick sends Slade to California in hopes of bringing Maya back home for the time being. Bringing a woman who despises the club life, back home to the club life should be an easy peasy task......right? It's easy, until Maya learns of Slade's true identity. Never in a million years would she have seen this blast from the past coming.

My Thoughts:

I was beyond thrilled when I learned Maya and Slade's romance was the next to be told in the Red Dragons MC series! BEYOND THRILLED! Given the fact that Maya was Niyol's ex-fling/best friend, I had a feeling the drama in this one was going to be through the roof. In reality though, the drama pertaining to this situation was on the low side of the spectrum. Which I actually really liked. I went into it expecting friendships to be torn apart and fights to break out, but these people were seriously mature and worked their shit out the right way...Legit! I loved the fact that there wasn't any unnecessary drama to put a break in Niyol and Summer's relationship. I'm a happy camper with the end game situation.

Now onto how I truly felt about the main characters. Because this novel starts off with a Sebastation chapter, let's start off there. At first sight, I loved Sebastian/Slade. This man is totally different than the norm MC badass. This man is not only street smart, he's also book smart. I loved the first chapter before the MC lifestyle and as the novel progressed I felt his character start to retreat into himself. His character changed from a bright and brilliant young man and into a badass with a chip on his shoulder.

Then we have Maya. Maya is a firecracker in every way possible. She's hell bent on living her life the way she wants and if anyone has an issue with it they can go straight to hell. I liked, but didn't love, Maya. Honestly, I was so wrapped up in Slade and all of his angsty moments, that I didn't have time to catch the vibes that Maya was throwing off. I needed a bit more from her character in order for me to truly connect with her. I wish there was more talk about her career and wanting to become a tattoo artist and living her dream of one day owning her own business. Bottom line, I needed to know more about this woman and not just her feelings revolving around Sebastian/Slade

I felt the first initial connection between he and Maya was really strong and they had a bond that felt like it could never be broken. And then shit hit the fan and wires were crossed and lines were blurred. Sebastian thought one thing and acted out on his anger and Maya thought another and acted out on her anger resulting in her moving miles upon miles away and crossing him out of her life forever. Sometimes the miscommunication vibe starts to get on my nerves, especially when dealing with adults, but because Maya and sebastian are still young and learning the ropes on feelings and such, I rather enjoyed this moment and I felt the angst as they reflected on what went down all those years ago. Young love is a hard path to navigate when you don't have strong role models in your life.

Overall, there were parts of Her Rough Ride that I really enjoyed, and parts that I could have done without. I found myself skipping through a few predictable moments. I wanted a bit more adventure like the first book (Her Wild Ride) brought to the table. I just needed a little bit more to push me over the edge of the 'needing to know what happens next' cliff.

This is the second book in the series and I really think that you should start from the beginning because the secondary characters were not only a part of the first book but it is part of this story. We have Slade who turned into that name in his MC because Maya had broken his heart. He is tasked with picking her up and bringing her back to the MC. Maya was instantly in lust with Slade and he reminded her a lot of Hawk (first story) but she knew that Hawk did not have a brother so was he. She really did not want to return to the MC because she has had really bad impression of them. Her father belonged to one and treated her mother and her like a slave. Reluctantly she really has no choice but to go with Slade but is trying to break down his barriers and she finds out that this is Sebastian the boy who she spent time with growing up and eventually fell in love with, but she treated bad. They bicker back and forth then give in to their sexual desires but then both of them start with the I love you but can't be with you. We have some tragedy some heartbreak and eventually some happiness. I want Archer's book!!

Heather Van Fleet has done it again! HER ROUGH RIDE (Red Dragon MC Series #2) is the perfect blend of romance, adventure, angst, and drama.

Slade is everything a hero should be. On the outside, he comes off as the tough and hardened Slade, but on the inside he's really just Sebastian, a lost soul with a sweet heart. A heart he won't show anyone but Maya. He's got a bitter edge now, and he isn't thrilled when he's tasked with bringing Maya back to the club. But it's for her own safety, and Slade will do anything to keep her safe.

Maya missed her chance with Sebastian many years ago, but now finds herself on a road trip from Cali to Illinois with Slade, the MC version of the sweet, storytelling Sebastian she knew years ago. Maya struggles with her return to the MC life, and has to decide if Slade is worth the risk involved.

As this couple deals with planes, trains, and automobiles, they get to know each other again--not the kids they used to be, but the adults they are now. Even though they've both changed, sparks still fly and they can't resist giving into the temptation of each other.

As always, Ms. Van Fleet writes a sexy, steamy romance that will keep you glued to your Kindle as you root for Slade and Maya to get to their Happily Ever After!

Wow! Again, Heather Van Fleet has written an emotionally charged, nail-biter of a story. I’m almost afraid to admit I liked this book in the series better than the first, but I think I did. I fell head over heels for Slade/Sebastian. His tough exterior clashed completely with the vulnerable man living in his head. He fought hard but loved harder. What’s not to admire about that?

Maya was just as tough, yet stubborn AF. I liked her. The author wrote her very true to life. She was a real person living in a screwed up world. Having come from the MC life, she knew she didn’t want that again, but she also knew she wanted Slade. Will she compromise? Will he admit he wants her?

Indeed, it was a rough ride for them both. This book made me laugh, cry, and want to scream and often at the same time! These two were so in love with each other, yet too insecure to admit what they wanted. I couldn’t have been happier with the happy ending. This is a smoldering sexy will they/won’t they romance that will make you wish you had your own biker to curl up with at that end of the day.
I cannot wait until book three!

This is part 2 in the Red Dragons’s Motor Club series. In the first book, the author introduced us to some of the main members and we were able to follow Hawk in particular.

Now the MC is back and this time the spotlight is on Slade with all his ups and downs.

Members of an MC are often seen as rough and brutal, but a lot of them also have a soft side they keep hidden and only show it to those close to their hearts. Well, that is when they can put their stubbornness aside of course. Is it obstinacy though or is it more a question of protecting those they love by keeping their true feelings under lock and key?

Sometimes you just have to take a leap of fate and just go for it.

A beautiful love story with a peek behind the scenes of a MC.

I, for sure, am looking forward to what the future has in store for the bikers. 5 stars.

Thank you, Heather Van Fleet and Bookouture (via Netgalley).

Her Rough Ride is book 2 in the Red Dragon MC series and this book doesn't disappoint. Maya and Slade have quite the history with each other and the broken hearts to prove it. It starts out as a series of unfortunate events and turns into a whole lot of truths. I'm excited to see where this series is headed.

This is the second book in the Red Dragon Motorcycle Club series by Heather Van Fleet.

This book has angst written all over it. Both of the characters are screwed up in their own ways. All their flaws and the tension between them is what makes this book so sweet and keeps you reading until the end. You know they deserve a break. And you spend the book wondering how long it is going to take them to wake up.

Sebastian used to be her Story Boy. He was where she went when she needed comfort from her nightmares. They each caused the other to pull away. Maya ran away to California and Sebastian became more hardened and transformed himself into Slade. There is a lot of misunderstandings here. I am wondering if Slade would have been a Red Dragon if he hadn’t been around the group growing up. I wish more for him than what he got here. Did he get the girl? Sure. It’s what we expect, isn’t it? But is that all he can ask for in life?

I wonder how you get paid working so diligently for a motorcycle club. It became Sebastian’s entire life after Maya ran away. Flick is in charge. He is Maya’s uncle. He forces her to come home which I thought was the stupidest move possible especially with a huge winter storm system approaching and the possibility of them being attacked by a rival MC club. Not to mention that Maya’s father was the head of another MC and they called him Satan. If she was so in danger in California from just the threat of him, why did they ever let her leave in the first place. Some of the motivations are questionable here. It is obvious that Flick isn’t long for being the head of the Red Dragons. His decisions domt’ seem to line up with their whole world view.

I was hooked the moment Maya made Slade strip in the hallway outside of her California apartment. This girl had guts in excess. The road trip made them more open to each other. I have heard that driving in a darkened car makes it much easier to open up to someone since you are not looking directly at them. They sure worked through a lot of things between California and Illinois.

Great book. It is my first Heather Van Fleet title. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author. Slam dunk!

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Once again, Heather Van Fleet does a great job of bringing the Red Dragons MC to life. I really like her take on the MC life, giving readers a glimpse into a club that's changing guards in the midst of a war. It's a new-look MC romance and I love that Van Fleet chose to tackle it.

I fell in love with Sebastian, the starry-eyed boy who loved mythology that turned into the scary Red Dragons' road captain, Slade. He's everything I look for in a MC hero: alpha to the core and a guy that falls in love with the same hardcore gusto he lives his life. Maya broke his heart eight years ago and while he never wants to see her again, he knows his heart is still hers as soon as he does.

This second chance romance sizzles from the moment Maya comes face to face again with Slade. While I couldn't understand how Maya didn't recognize that Sebastian and Slade were one and the same, it didn't keep their chemistry from heating up the pages.

Just like book one in the series, Her Rough Ride is part road trip romance. Snowstorms, grounded planes, cars in ditches, and broken down trains all play into their trek from California to Illinois, forcing Maya and Slade into confronting their feelings as they're stuck with each other. Though I did find myself questioning some of Slade's decisions across the miles, it did help bring them together.

Things with the rogue Red Dragons were just starting in book one, but really heat up in Her Rough Ride, including some gasp out loud moments. All the characters from book one are back, strengthening the connections I found with them in Her Wild Ride. I look forward to more in this series!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback.

This is the second Red Dragon MC book in the series and the second that I have read. It works as a standalone novel, but this is a series where the previous (and future I assume) characters do feature in some capacity in all of the books.
This time the story focuses on Maya, who has left the world of Motorcycle clubs behind but is in danger. Her uncle wants her to come home for her own safety after the Red Dragon's come under threat from an ex-member and rival club. Slade, a man she had known well before he became a Red Dragon and changed his name is tasked with bringing her home. There's huge chemistry between them, but she doesn't recognise him from before.
The chemistry between the two main characters was good. I thought that Slade/Sebastian was a bit overbearing at times and needed to get over himself a bit, but Maya gave as good as she got. They seemed to be well-matched and I liked the romance that developed between them.
As I mentioned at the start, this does work as a stand-alone novel, but there is an over-arcing storyline that ties the books together. Clearly, there is more to come for the Red Dragon's based on the events in this book and while our main characters do get their happily ever after, things are far from all rosy for the Red Dragons.
I really enjoyed this instalment of the series and would be keen to read the next. I'm not sure as yet who it is likely to feature as there are a couple of candidates, but I think it might possibly be Archer.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Frenemies–to–lovers and second chance love story.

Sebastian, aka Slade, and Maya have an innocent history from 8 years ago. The day she unexpectedly left his hometown changed Sebastian forever and he promised himself to never ever meet her again. But today he is told to safely bring Maya back to his hometown. This is the last thing he is willing to do but Slade has no way getting out of this job.

These 8 years not only changed Sebastian’s personality but his looks are different too. He’s no longer a sweet story boy with long hair and glasses, now he is rough bad boy that is covered in tattoos and scars. When Maya doesn’t recognise him Slade couldn’t feel more relieved and plays along to use it as an opportunity to avoid all the elephant in the room talks.

Unfortunately, snow storm messes with what looked like an easy and quick trip and they are forced to spend much more time together. Much more than Slade had planned or can handle as all these feelings hidden deep under bubbled out the minute his eyes landed on Maya.

We are in for a suspenseful trip that will test both characters and will stir plenty of emotions and feelings. The author has a beautiful writing and I found myself addicted to this book much more than I thought I will. There were many ups and downs for Slade and Maya, my heart was breaking for them and I couldn’t wait for their HEA. This story is rough and angsty, sad in some parts, but full of chemistry and passion that will keep you glued to your Kindle.

Good Boy to Bad Man

Sebastian was Maya’s storyteller when she was younger and fighting the demons her MC father, Satan, left her with. They would sleep together every night with him holding her telling her stories so she could go to sleep without all the nightmares. But during the day Maya acted like she didn’t know Sebastian and kept him at arm’s length. Then she just left town not even saying goodbye.

After Maya’s leaving, Sebastian drastically changed with his body and with his attitude along with his name. It was no more storytelling for Slade who was now MC Road Captain/killer. He was given an order to pick up Maya in California and bring her back to Illinois because her life was in danger. This was the last thing that Slade wanted to do after she broke his heart a few years back. The only thing is Maya had no idea that Slade was actually Sabastian that good-boy-glasses-wearing skinny boy. She knew he looked familiar but couldn’t put two and two together.

I loved this book and it took me on one crazy ride. Their relationship was such a push/pull always with chemistry. This is the second book in this series so I recommend reading Her Wild Ride as well and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I absolutely loved Slade.
No matter what he did i couldn't hate him.
He was so different.
Sorry i just had to get that out there first.
The whole story was great!
I understood Maya's reservations about the Red Dragons. She had every right to be the way she was and stay away.
I loved that we got to see Summer and Niyol again too!
I loved the whole second chance aspect to it aswell, they are one of my weaknesses.
Lets go back to Slade shall we?
Jesus i can't get enough of him, he buried his real self under the big scary biker looking guy but when he's around Maya he has to try double hard to make sure she can see the guy he use to be. I loved both sides of him, the before the biker and the big bad biker himself.
Maya was great too! (We can't make it all about Slade i guess)
She had her strengths and weaknesses like everyone but i still really liked her, she didn't let anyone walk over her so that's a plus!
I'm excited to see where this series will go!
My second book by Heather and it was just as amazing as i knew it would be!

This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Sebastian and Maya grew up together and he did his best to keep the demons away for her. Then she left and broke his heart and he decided to harden it. He joined the MC and became Slade, now he is tasked with going to get Maya because she is in danger. What will happen when those sparks begin to fly again. Fast-paced read with lots of drama, great characters. I really liked Slade; he has so much depth. The story has plenty of drama, suspense and the chemistry are hot. I liked it.

REVIEW: HER ROUGH RIDE is the second instalment in Heather Van Fleet’s contemporary, adult RED DRAGON MC erotic, MC romance series. This is twenty-seven year old, Red Dragon MC road captain Sebastian ‘Slade’ Lattimore, and tattoo artist Maya Davenport’s story line. HER ROUGH RIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Slade and Maya) HER ROUGH RIDE follows the rekindling romance and relationship between Red Dragon MC road captain Sebastian ‘Slade’ Lattimore, and tattoo artist Maya Davenport. Eight years earlier Maya Davenport’s world exploded when she found the boy/man that she loved with someone else. Heading to California, Maya would move on with her life, a life without the man that destroyed her heart. Fast forward to present day wherein, for her own protection, Maya is ordered home by her uncle, Red Dragon MC vice-president Flick, a well-timed order in the face of Mayas lack of employment and a place to live. Sent to retrieve Flick’s wayward niece, Sebastian ‘Slade’ Lattimore finds himself facing the woman who broke his heart, a woman he hasn’t stopped loving for close to eight years. What ensues is the rekindling friendship and relationship between Maya and Slade, and the potential fall-out as Maya’s past is determined to destroy everything and more.

Maya Davenport doesn’t recognize the man sent to take her home. Familiar yet not, Maya struggles with her attraction to a man who is all kinds of grumpy, a man who had once stolen her heart. Slade Lattimore didn’t want his latest assignment-babysitting and escorting home the woman that broke his heart. Battling between head and heart Slade and Maya will soon come under fire as they struggle to make it home in the wake of a snow storm that leaves them stranded for days, targeted by someone from Maya’s past.

The relationship between Maya and Slade is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that was destroyed by betrayal and misunderstanding; broken hearts, secrets and lies. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to club VP Flick, club member Archer, Hawk and Summer (Her Wild Ride #1), Maya’s mother June, as well as several more members of the Red Dragons MC. The requisite evil has many faces.

HER ROUGH RIDE is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and revenge. The premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are colorful and energetic. HER ROUGH RIDE is an impassioned, suspense-filled and edgy story line.

Oh, the feelings this book brought out in me! I can't convey to you how much I enjoy stories of childhood love that ended and then later is rekindled when the teenagers become adults. There is so much history, so much heartbreak, misunderstandings, and a yearning that has lasted for years. As you can imagine, it makes for a very steamy romance with all kinds of emotion and makeup sex. Yup, I said it. Makeup sex. This is my first book by this author, so I wasn't sure what to expect when she put a Sizzler Alert on her NetGalley posting. I thought, oh boy, this could end of being more about the sex than romance (which isn't usually my cup of tea), or this could be exactly what I need right now. And guess what? It was exactly what I needed right now. The exact right combination of romance and lust. Bring it on.

There once was a boy named Sebastian and a girl named Maya, both of whom secretly loved each other. But neither felt they were good enough for the other, and in a moment of anger, a stupid mistake tore them apart forever. Eight years later, Sebastian is dead. Now there is only Slade, the road captain of the Red Dragon MC, who only has hatred for the girl who once held his heart in her hands. When his leader orders him to go pick her up and bring her to their base for safekeeping, it's the last thing he wants to do. But she is in danger, and if Slade has one weakness, it's knowing innocent people's lives are at stake. He may hate Maya, but she doesn't deserve to die. When they finally meet, Slade is both relieved and annoyed to see that Maya has no idea who he is. She doesn't recognize him. And Maya is just as tempting now as she was back then, even more so now that she is in the dark about who he is. It's too late for them though...or is it?

The history between these two is so intense...and also annoying, because there is SO. MUCH. miscommunication between them. If Slade would only tell her the truth, if Maya would only confess her feelings, if they would both just apologize to each other...but no, that would be too easy. This book is full of angst, and if that's your catnip, congratulations! I love angst personally, and this hit the spot with the right amount to keep me really wanting more. I found myself reading this book late into the night, waiting to find out when they would just tell each other how they feel. I was rooting so hard for this relationship to work, you would have thought I was emotionally invested. Which I wasn't, of course...*cough*...Slade was a tough guy with a soft heart, and Maya still loved him, even after all these years. It was so hard watching them clash, knowing that they loved each other so fiercely and completely. Yes, Slade made a giant mistake, and Maya made some poor choices, but at the end of the day, it all came down to whether they could learn to forgive and move forward with a life together.

Intriguing, captivating, and engaging! All words to describe Heather Van Fleet's latest book. I can't wait to see what she writes next!

*I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

After finishing the first book in this series, I KNEW that this was going to be one I had to keep an eye out for. I'm sooooooo happy I was persistent, because this second book DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!

First let me start by saying that although this is the second installment, it "could" be read as a standalone, but I don't recommend it. There are a few times that knowing the history actually helps with following the story line.

Maya left the Red Dragon's and her mother a long time again. Once she realized that living outside the club meant freedom, she moved to California and never looked back. In fact, she rarely even spoke with her mom. But after getting hit with the double middle finger (losing her job and apartment on the same day), maybe contacting her mom isn't such a bad idea....

Sebastian is dead. Ok, a little dramatic. Sebastian, the young skinny kid who fell in love with a girl who didn't want him is dead. He's now known as Slade and is one of the top dogs within the Red Dragon's MC. Now that the club has to watch their backs due to some backlash, the President of the club (also a father figure to Slade) is sending him to California to bring the President's niece home for safety. Too bad that's the last person on earth he wants to see. Because it means that Sebastian may not be so dead after all.

Without giving too much away, this book has pretty much everything you'll need in a MC book. Anticipation, lust, lie, betrayal and of course, the romance. This author does an amazing job at pulling us in and falling for each and every character within the book. Even the bad guys. I was so engrossed with this book, that I literally did NOT put it down. And I can't wait for the next one!!!!

Having my parties still damp from Her Wild Ride, I was very happy to receive the arc of Her Rough Ride Cagain (with a sizzler alert). This time we get to see glimpses of the past of Maya. Remember? The girl Hawke was
going to in the first part, before he got distracted by Summer.
Naya left the MC for several reasons, eight years ago. Her only regret was leaving Sebastian behind. The wonderful 17-year old boy who could tell great stories of heroes and myths.
But now, the MC is at her doorstep again in the form of a hotter than hell tattooed bad boy. He is in California to pick her up because of 'club business she isn't allowed to know of.
As daughter of the rival biker gang president, Maya has been on the run for several years.
So when Slade commands her to come, she realizes she has no choice but to follow the biker bad ass Slade, who kinda looks familiar.
When Maya left the MC eight years ago, she broke Sebastian's heart. Ever since, he has been Slade, Bad ass
biker with no heart. or so he lets himself believe.
So when Flick, the MC pres and Maya's uncle commands him to go get his niece, he really doesn't want to.
But since pres orders can't be denied, he flies out to California to get the girl he now hates more than anything.
Apparently Sebastian didn't get the memo, because from the moment he sees Maya, he still recognizes his feelings for her. But Maya doesn't recognize him. Can he have his wicked way with her as Slade and leave her after that? And how will the rivaling gangs react on the return of Maya?
Suspense, humor, and a lot of sparks flying . Hold on to your panties and enjoy the rice. Four out of the stars
from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

**I received a copy of Her Rough Ride from Bookouture and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions were not solicited in any way.**

Her Rough Ride by Heather Van Fleet is the second book in her Red Dragon MC Series. I highly recommend reading the first book as many of the character are also in here. This is Slade (Sebastian) and Maya's story. They will fight the attraction they feel for each other from California to Illinois while trying to keep alive.

Maya has been fired and evicted all in one day and a hang over doesn't help but when her Uncle Flick sends Slade to bring her home as there's trouble brewing with the Red Dragons. But first she asks him to strip in the hall to prove he's a RD (Tattoo) but first they have to deal with snow (Plane. Train and Car) and a rogue Biker out to kill them. Don't worry Maya takes care of him even with her bum knee. There will be a tragic loss but can she finally admit that Slade is her soulmate?

Sebastian was in love with Maya years when she ask him to tell her story so that her nightmares wouldn't come but she leaves him one night and he reinvents himself as Slade. He patches into the Red Dragon's and tries to forget Maya his first love. But first he has to convince Maya to come home all while watching out for rogue bikers willing to work with Pops and her dad. Yes, they'll bicker with each other and deny that its love they're feeling but will Slade finally win her love?

Ever wonder what happened to that one? Did they move on with their lives? Have regrets for leaving? Her Rough Ride by Heather Van Fleet is a love story about two teens that grew up and moved on, taking each other’s heart with them. Well, at least one of them.

Slade, aka Sebastian, is a member of the Red Dragons MC. An MC that is currently going on lockdown due to the president’s father taking revenge on the club. He has been asked, well rather told, to take a quick trip and bring back Maya, the niece to the president. Trying everything possible to get out of it, Slade finally goes even though this is bringing up all kinds of memories.

Within twenty-four hours of finding out Maya is jobless and now homeless. Guess who is now knocking on her front door? Her uncles MC. Well, she does not know that at first but what happens next is HILARIOUS! If I ever wonder who is at my front door this will now be my go-to move. I love Heather Van Fleet’s sense of humor in this series.

These two are a hard couple for me. Knowing the background and reason, it still took me a bit to really feel the connection. I know it is there but each of them holding back pertinent information and that had me a bit frustrated. I also expected a bigger blow when Maya found out Slade was actually her “storyboy”.

I absolutely loved this book! I adored the first book in this series, but I LOVED this one! It's a little bit grittier than the first in the series and has a little more MC-related drama, which I totally dig. This is the story of Slade, the club road captain with a ginormous chip on his shoulder when it comes to love and women, and Maya, the Prez's niece who made her life as far away from the club as she could get. The club realizes that their enemies from Book 1 are ramping up and Slade is sent to safely bring Maya home where she can be protected until the ensuing war is over. While navigating different bumps in the road, they begin to see clearly the sins of their past and start their journey toward a second chance love. Slade is super alpha and hates to show any sign of weakness while Maya is a strong-willed chick who can't admit that not all bikers are bad news. The author really stayed true to the writing style and flow of her first book, which was just phenomenal, and I loved getting every new little glimpse into the club and all the characters in her world. Here's to hoping there's a 3rd book!

This is the second book in the Red Dragon MC series. I have not yet read the first book and still felt completely in the loop. Maya is the daughter of “Satan”, President of the Forsaken MC and the niece of the President of the Red Dragon MC, yet she wants nothing to do with the club life. Slade is a high ranking Red Dragon and fully immersed into the club. When Slade is sent to bring Maya back home for protection, trouble follows their every move.

I really enjoyed the storyline and was rooting for Slade and Maya to get their HEA the entire time. While the steam was on the lower end of the scale the drama made up for it. I am a big fan of an MC romance and this one definitely did not disappoint! Can’t wait to read more in the Red Dragon series!

***I will say their may be some trigger moments for anyone with an aversion to violence. I don’t want to spoil anything but if you’d like specifics let me know and I can share.***

This is Book 2 in the Red Dragon MC Series. This is a second chance romance that almost didn’t happen. Sebastian told Maya stories during the night and cared so much for her, but Maya didn’t want the MC lifestyle and when the time came, she left without looking back. Now things have happened and she’s coming home. Plus, he’s the one that’s going to go get her. What makes this book different? Sebastian has changed into Slade and he hasn’t forgiven her for leaving him. And she doesn’t even recognize him! How’s that for a kicker, huh? As things happened on the way home, they both were just asking for me to reach inside the book and knock their heads together, you know what I mean? Things were happening and you are kept entertained throughout the book. I do recommend you reading book 1 first, though. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. Slade and Maya’s story is book two in the Red Dragon MC series and while you don’t have to read book one you will get a greater understanding if you do. Slade just received the worst order from his president, retrieve Maya the wayward niece of the president and bring her home so she can be safe from the MC drama. Unfortunately Slade has a lot of residual anger toward Maya from years ago when she left him and going home is the last thing that Maya wants to do. Along the way there’s a lot of snarky humor and sexual tension all while fighting a snow storm and MC drama. This book is a little more gritty than the first with lots of heat but the relationship between the two leads still seemed a bit strained. 4 stars

I thought that this story was really enjoyable, having read the previous book in this series I couldn't wait to get started on this one!

The character were really well developed and well suited and that made the story a very enjoyable read. The only downside for me was that I thought in places there was a little too much detail and it detracted from what was otherwise an excellent flow to the story.

It is 4 stars from me, highly recommended and can't wait to see what she releases next!

The second book in the Red Dragon MC series does NOT disappoint. More in-depth than the average MC story, you will get caught up in the relationship between Maya and Sebastian/Slade while trying to figure out the motives of Pops and other MCs. The author does a fantastic job of balancing the suspense and the romance. You can also read this book as a standalone – but it will make you want to go back and read the first one if you do! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for a complimentary, pre-release digital ARC of the book.

Book two in the Red Dragons MC series. First time reader of Heather Van Fleet.

Sebastian aka Slade. He’s Hawks cousin and his first love was Maya. But she sort of broke his heart.

Maya ran away from the club. Her father was abusive. After her life in jeopardy she ends up at her uncles MC.

The sexual tension between these two is off the charts. A slow romance buildup with a bit of tragedy and heartbreak.

A good read that had me on the edge of my seat.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.*
