After Trysten and her horde recover from their rescue mission, they investigate a warning from Exeris and find a new threat to the kingdom amassing on the eastern border. With Cadwaller's resources depleted, Trysten prepares herself and the horde for a fighting season that will extend beyond the first snow.
When Rodden returns to Aerona with a Western delegation and an invitation for Trysten to engage in talks with the queen of Oppelnot, it is a welcome relief. It looks like an end to the centuries-old conflict with the Western kingdom might be near. But when Trysten meets the Opplian queen at last, she finds that the price of peace might be too high.
I would just like to write a few lines to ask you to read this book. I normally don't like writing reviews, because I mostly talk about problems in books, (not that all of them are bad, but I always think they could do things differently). Yes, this one has a few problems, but I was so surprised by the quality of the book, the plot is fantastic, a female hero struggling to get what she believes in, just cool. I'll add the same review to all six books in the series if I like them as much as I loved this one.
What a fantastic continuation to this series! In The Courier’s Dragonet, we finally start getting real insight into the Originals — their power, their secrets, and how their influence still ripples through the present. The author does an amazing job pulling back the curtain on their motives, showing that they’re not just ancient myths but the foundation of everything happening now.
And just when you think things can’t get any more intense, the Scrolls emerge as a real and dangerous enemy. Their manipulation, hidden agendas, and eerie influence over key characters kept me on edge. They’re the kind of villains that work in shadows — twisting truth into power plays — and I loved how their threat feels bigger with every chapter.
Then there’s the buzz surrounding the Caldwell royals’ upcoming visit. You can practically feel the tension brewing — political games, royal drama, and the uneasy truce that might not hold. It’s clear that this meeting is going to shake the foundations of both kingdoms.
What I continue to love about this series is how it balances heart, history, and high stakes. Dragons, destiny, and deception — all perfectly blended into one addictive story. This installment feels like the calm before a storm, and I can’t wait to see what’s unleashed next!
This instalment sees Trysten trying to broker peace with the Queen of the Western Kingdom while helping her own king stave off a financial squeeze from the kingdom in the other side. The problem is the ‘Originals’ who keep tossing scanners in the works. One faction looks to be trying to resolve a time travel conundrum, the other faction actively working to under, one those efforts.
Her town has grown from 30 people to … let’s see … 135 dragons flew for her at last count, and she’s added since then. There are weyr support people on the ground as well as merchants and traders, innkeepers and a cloudwatcher (there’s a job I really want), so let’s say 300 people. She doesn’t recognize everyone, the skyline when she looks over her town is no longer familiar and she’s beginning to question if she’s standing in the way of her own people progressing.
People like Paege, whom her father says does everything for one reason … her. I don’t think the penny has yet dropped, but perhaps she’ll find time for personal matters when the peaceful season descends.
I've read all 6 available books in the series and I'm anxiously waiting for book 7 and hopefully more. The writing is engrossing, suspenseful, and intriguing. I love the depth to the characters and the story. The main character is a woman who breaks all the rules and preconceived ideas about women. She is strong, intelligent, resourceful and loyal. She inspires respect from all the men around her after proving herself more than competent in her job. READ THE SERIES! You'll be very happy if you do.
I have read all six of the Dragoneer books and can hardly wait for the 7th book and how ever many more comes afterwards. The strong female characters in the books give confidence for females everywhere. I also love books about dragon adventures with riders. I've read several other dragon/rider books from other authors and have enjoyed them all.
Another great book in the series! Things get dicey. No one is quite ready to trust each other’s kingdom, or their leaders. Someone working behind the scenes, distorts every move made to bring peace between the rival’s involved. Take a deep breath as the story moves at a fast pace. You might run out of air!
I have thoroughly reading these series of books. I love the build up of strong characters and the bothersome infighting. The guess continues on who or which kingdom is instigating more.
Every single one of these books goes in a direction I'm not expecting. I love them all and can't get them read fast enough to satisfy my curiosity about what comes next.
Another good book. This book seemed to drag on for me, but it still held my attention. The Originals have plans, but so does Trysten. She wants peace, but the world has other plans. Can she achieve her plans, or will there be war? Only the way of dragons will know.
More intrigue, mysteries, dragons and riders needed. How they were gotten and how to train them, that is the question. Amongst others. Fun, fun, and more fun!
