We are not soul mates, or lovers, or even frenemies.
She is the one who needed to get away.
What we had together wasn’t blind love, it was sick rage.
We were a match made in hell, it was hate at first sight, and when she walked away from me and never looked back—it was a relief.
It was bliss.
So why did I travel two thousand miles so I could be near her?
Why can’t I stop thinking about this girl I never want to see again?
Why. Am I. Here?
And what do I have to do to make her disappear for good?
Bossy Brothers: Tony features two girls falling for the wrong men and two men falling for the right girls. A family of tatted up brothers and a town filled with secrets and danger. A story of earned chances and first dates. Of coming to terms with the past and finding a way into the future. It is book six in the Bossy Brothers series and should be read after book five, Bossy Brothers: Alonzo.
J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.
She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.
This book was very different than any romance I have read before. It centered around Tony Dumas, one of the brothers-in-law of Jesse Boston (the original bossy brother). Tony is in Colorado on orders from his older brother Alonzo to figure out what is going on with the dirty FBI agents they have been working with and to see if those agents are planning anything. Like upping stakes and leaving them holding the bag for the smuggling that they have been doing in Key West.
However, Tony can’t get his mind off Rosalie (now known as Belinda Baker) since Tony got rid of her eight years ago in Key West and had the FBI move her here to Colorado “for her own safety” as a protected witness when she saw them smuggling one night. Since “Rosalinda” as Tony refers to Rosalie/Belinda came down to Key West a few months ago with her friend Tara and burst into his life again, he hasn’t been able to think or sleep.
Tony knows he had a crazy relationship with Rosalie in the past and they had some strange kinks which he hasn’t had with anyone else and is happy about. Tony just can’t figure out why he was able to throw her away before and not think about her for eight years while now he can’t seem to stop.
Belinda hates Tony for blowing up her life and sending her off to Colorado with nothing to live a whole new life with a new name, new job and basically become a new person all alone, without her family or anything familiar. Eight years later, she has become Belinda and likes her life and friends, though she feels like she is losing her best friend Vann Vaughn because Vann loves her and she doesn’t feel the same.
While Tony is hiding out in town and stalking Belinda, he meets saucy redhead Soshee Ameci who lives in the apartment above where he is staying and works at the Italian restaurant Ameci’s. It turns out they have a lot in common since Soshee is stalking Vann and has had a huge crush on him for years. So Tony and Soshee start talking and stalking together. Once Vann and Belinda see them together, Tony and Soshee come up with a plan to each get what they want.
This is quite a crazy ride and almost a comedy of errors. But really it is about two couples finding love and finding what they need to get over things that happened in the past. Also there is still the mystery of the FBI and why all the witnesses in the town all seem to be somehow part of the same conspiracy or related in some way.
Just like how Tara ended up being best friends with Belinda (both witnesses in Fort Collins, Colorado) in the Alonzo book and they both witnessed similar things on different coasts and it turned out that the guy Tara saw smuggling happed to be friends with the Dumas Brothers, the ones Belinda saw smuggling. J.A. Huss does mystery so well!
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Whatever you guys think is going to happen in this book .. it isn’t. It will be exponentially better. That’s all I’m going to say about the plot. Don’t ask for more because you’re not getting it.
I’ve read this series from the beginning with the exception of one book but the storyline that starts with the last book, Alonzo, I love even more than the original Bossy brothers. I should also tell you that if you plan on reading this book without reading Alonzo first, I highly discourage you to do that. You can, technically, but stop it. You’ll kick yourself later if you don’t read it first so just do it.
This story is twisted an convoluted in the most glorious of ways. Julie is not your typical writer to begin with, but she went next level with this one. I really hate that I can’t give you a single detail because I want to explain so badly the greatness but …. Yeah, no, this needs to be experienced with a blank slate. #TRUST
I don't really know where to start other than that story was filled with so much emotion and a lot of it was dark and angry and full of sick obsessions and a really unhealthy relationship that lasted way to long .
Tony was a character that you instantly want to hate as he is angry and abusive and pretty much a douche bag all around and he was nothing but a big bully in my book but, some where along the line you realize that there is more to him than what you only see on the surface and you are intrigued to know what makes him tick and hoping along the way that he has some sort of redeeming qualities after all.
Belinda was a character that you loved instantly with her vibrant personality and she is strong and mouthy and feisty and your constantly wondering what is going to come out of her mouth next.
I got to say we loved those Vann brothers !
This story had so much going on and it the entire time .Tony is looking for answers as things are not adding up between the brothers so they want answers to their questions sending him over 2000 mile away to a town where he had some unfinished with Belinda formally known as Rosalie and that the town the Vann's and Belinda are living in is not what it seems leaving even more and more of a mystery to uncover .
Overall we love that this story ended up having more that just one love story between its characters and we loved that once things started sorting themselves out bam you learn that there is secrets on top of secrets and they might lead back to The Company and its operatives past and present and so many of our favorite characters. We love that all these series intertwine with one another as it makes things all the more interesting and creates even more drama and so much suspense that it leaves us with more and more unanswered questions that now need solving!
Wow this was not what I thought it was going to...it’s actually so much better!! Book 6 in the Bossy series follows Anthony “Tony” Dumas, Belinda Baker (you might remember her from Bossy Brothers: Alonzo), Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci. Belinda is a tattoo apprentice at Sick Boyz Ink in Colorado while in the witness protection program. That is until she goes back to where she came from in Key West with a friend. Well, things would never be the same or safe again! Tony remembers “Belinda” very well so he’s shocked when she shows back up after 8 years! All the crew is back along with some well remembered Fort Collins characters as well, when Tony just can’t seem to let this girl go! What mayhem and secrets will be unveiled this time. With this group you know around every turn is another secret. I love how all these books have cameos and little Easter Eggs from prior characters. This isn’t just about Tony and Belinda though no, Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci are also involved but I’m not saying how. Obsession never seemed so good! A cleverly crafted, different type of romance I think you’ll enjoy. Hope I haven’t confused you too much lol. Told in dual POV
I don't even know where to start with this one. What a unique twist on story telling. The book is told in dual POV between Tony and Belinda. But they are not the HEA of the story. I know! WHAT! This brings a whole new perspective on what you might look for in a romance story. Through these two characters we learn about life in Fort Collins. We learn about family and what it means to belong. And most important, we learn about taking chances and letting yourself love deeply. Find your ONE and just BE.
This is an ever evolving story so not much more detail on the content from me. You will want to read the series in order. Lots of events have led up to this book. You won't expect any of it. Just jump in and read it!
I would guess there is at least one book if not two left to go in the series. This one sets up some future events. I am dying to see where this author takes us next. Great job on a fresh trope and wonderful romance!
Tony hasn't thought of Belinda in awhile. He certainly isn't in love with her. But for some reason he cannot get her off his mind. They once had a fucked up thing. Perhaps they might have it again? But maybe not because when Tony meets Belinda's friend, Soshee, something about her intrigues him. They're kindred souls of a kind and think they're each getting what they want out of their association with each other.
But what about Belinda? She certainly doesn't love Tony. She sorta hates him actually. But he's back and seems to want something from her. Her best friend Vann is in love with her and it freaks her out because she doesn't feel the same. Or does she?
Holy shit, this is a crazy story. 2 separate couples who weren't expecting each other, find something with each other. But it's not just the relationships, there's a whole lot of suspense going on, a big mystery, and honestly, it is so entertaining and I couldn't stop reading, I had to know what was going to happen next!

Tony Dumas is angry. Because when the ex-girlfriend that he had sent away eight years ago turned up out of the blue, he hasn't been able to get a good nights sleep, or her out of his head, since. So Tony decides it's time to show up on Belinda's turf, and get her out of his system, once and for all.
Belinda Baker has moved on from her days of living in another state as a completely different person. Back then she was Rosalie, but the person Belinda is now is the woman she was always meant to be, and Tony showing up on her territory is just about the worst thing she could imagine happening...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bossy Brothers: Tony is a very atypical love story, where the main characters are going to find their HEA... just not with each other. Belinda and Tony are like oil and water, and in their past, they did more fighting than actually liking each other. But, what Belinda and Tony still have is unfinished business... and resolving it may be their only way to finally move on...
Belinda (aka Rosalie Thompson) was sent to Fort Collins, CO eight years ago, under the guise of witness protection. She loves her life now, and her coworkers are more like a family than anything she's had in a long time. Except for Vann Vaughn. He is a good friend, who has made no secret that he wants to be much, much more, no matter how much Belinda reminds him that a romantic relationship between them would never work out.
Tony once thought that he put his infatuation with Rosalie, ah Belinda... behind him. But by showing up in Colorado in order to stalk... ah, see her again, Tony is second guessing every recent decision he has made. Until he meets Soshee Amici... and his interest in Belinda is all of a sudden something he can't quite put his finger on. Belinda lingers under his skin, and Soshee is fresh and exciting... but underneath it all Tony keeps going back to his unfinished... and highly irritating... business...
This read was everything unexpected that I love about JA Huss. This book was written with dual points of view in which each characters HEA is heavily wrapped up in the decisions they have suffered from their pasts. The plot was interesting and kept me absorbed in the story, but I also felt that it was definitely missing something more complex within the flow of the story. Also, with the focus being mostly on Belinda and Tony's past, I didn't feel like I got enough depth out of their individual developing relationships.
This was a good read, and of course another interesting addition to the Bossy Brothers series. But, by far my favorite part is the setting of Fort Collins. You see, Old Town is a very familiar favorite and every mention gave me a nice heartfelt glimpse into the city I love, when it is at is usual thriving, best self. I cherished every moment I was able to picture of it's usually bustling and energetic scene through the characters of this story, while 2020 has kept me from enjoying it in real life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Tony kind of blew my mind. First of all because (even if I got this rather early on) it didn't go in the direction I expected from the start. Second of all because most of the action unfolded in Fort Collins - with some nice nods to Rook & Ronin series, and other stories Huss has written in the past. The tension of this story was also very well done! The sexual tension, but also the tension that came with not knowing something, with a mystery lurking. And the overall story arc kind of showed me some more of what was going on as well. There were some very humorous moments in Tony as well, especially with Soshee and Belinda, and that brought some much needed comic relief.
And she's done it yet again. Yes, I'm saying once more how J.A. Huss has completely mesmerized me with her words and Bossy Brothers: Tony may just be my favorite in the series. There is this deep poignancy as the story I thought would play out, changes course and instead of two love stories, we are treated to two! AND I'm convinced Huss is one in a small handful who can pull that off seamlessly.
The Author herself says that book 5, Bossy Brothers: Alonzo should be read first. And I have to agree with her. The stage is set as Tony Dumas sees Rosalie, now known as Belinda, after 8 years in book 5 and now that she is back in Fort Collins, Co after her brief time home in Key West, Fl, he decides it's time to finally get her out of his system in the way he only knows how: to literally f*&k her senseless one last time. I sat here thinking that it would lead to them finally being together but I couldn't have been more wrong.
The story progresses at a wonderful pace, with Vann Vaughn, and the quirky yet very endearing Soshee Ameci adding just the right balance as permanent residents of Fort Collins and two people who turn both Tony and Belinda's unsuspecting hearts upside down. Again, I expected a whole different scenario but Huss turned the tables on us a bit and what transpires is exactly how it should have happened all along. Right along with Tony and Belinda, we just didn't know it yet.
The continuing sub-story of Fort Collins itself, the whys and what will happen next wrt the Dumas situation/family business add that perfect sense of mystery and intrigue as usual. It's amazing to me how Huss keeps extending the different worlds she has created through the years and knows how to keep them connected so damn easily when I'm sitting here trying to keep it all straight. But she cleverly gives us just enough of an explanation to be able to follow along just fine.
Getting two love stories for the price of one was more than a pleasant surprise and the depth of emotion from all the characters gave this book a truly warm feeling for me. The sincerity from Tony, in particular, was really great to see since he seemed aloof and uncaring previously. Soshee is a true bonus as she is quick-witted and sincere and her maturity is way beyond her young years. Vann is the standout since he became so much more in my eyes and those around him than I first thought. He is a love and his eight year devotion to Belinda and not just as a love-sick puppy but as a true protector and friend, warmed my heart something fierce.
In the end, I feel as if Tony and Belinda got exactly what they needed from both each other and from Vann and Soshee. A whirlwind as usual but filled with feels that I'm still smiling about. Leaving us locked and loaded for what will transpire next in the wonderful world of Huss, Bossy Brothers: Tony is all kinds of wonderful and is yet another incredible addition to this well-written and masterful series.
This entire series is Julie at her best, and the story just keeps getting deeper. First off, this is such an unconventional narrative - and I freaking loved it. It took me back to my days reading stories by Marion Keyes, where you often had interconnected character POVs but they were rarely couples. The use of the uncoupled POV was so clever!! Straight up, we know that Tony doesn’t love Belinda, and Belinda doesn’t love Tony. Of course, we’re all romantics, right? So we entertain it for about 3.5 seconds. And then we remember how much Vann is into Belinda, and how openly disdainful Tony is of Belinda, and... it’s just not gonna happen. So instead of one story, we get two! We get Tony’s story AND Belinda’s story. And you know what? That was so freaking cool, and so freaking different from every other book I’ve read in the last however many years. On top of that, we also get two additional characters - and I challenge anyone to not love those two as well. AND THEN! The Company. Unexpected tie-ins, more suspicious activity, visits from unlikely sources, and incoming drama like you wouldn’t believe. There’s always this feeling as you get closer to the end. Like the answers are right there, but you’re still not going to see them until they’re spelled out for you. That’s where we’re at now. Sure, the book concludes happily, but the story is far from over...
It’s been eight years since Belinda’s life was turned upside down when she became a witness. Not only was she forced by Tony to leave town, but she also had to leave everything and everyone she knew behind. She has created a new life for herself with a new group of friends, but none is more special than Vann so the last thing she needs is for Tony to disrupt her life for a second time.
Tony should be happy that Belinda is out of his life but lately she is all he thinks about. Now that he is back in town, he wants to know everything about her and with the help of Soshee, his new neighbor, he may have found the accomplice he needs as she is interested in Belinda’s best friend Vann. Let the complications begin.
This story takes you on a journey with unexpected surprises as all four people make some discoveries not only about the past but about the future as well.
I could not get enough of this story. I loved the characters and how they entwined with each other and how well I was able to become part of their thought process and feelings. The story line had the perfect pace and kept my attention the whole time. My favorite part of this read was just the mental thought process of all the characters involved and the overlaps and how nothing was what was expected. And leave it to this author to throw in a fabulous subplot within that now has me anxiously awaiting the next read.
This is my fav Julie..no one, and I mean no one, can pull of crazy stories like this one. You start reading and you think you know what's going on but you are dead wrong! All the characters in this story are either people you met before in this series or people you know from others, and by God, they are all connected in a way or another! I don't even know what to say except that I can't get enough and I am ready for what's yet to come.
As Julie did warn us from the very beginning that this isn't a conventional love story with the main characters. For me it was different but at the same time it was hard for me to understand how it all unraveled with these 4 characters. Its just that its almost funny how everything is connected.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Tony and Belinda’s story went in a direction I wasn’t anticipating and I loved the plot twist. You don’t need to have read all the books in the series but I recommend it (at least Alonzo’s story). Enjoyed the suspense, steam and intrigue in this story lots
This author has an incredible talent for pulling together threads from different books. While the series Bossy brothers can be enjoyed by itself it’s starting to pull in a lot of characters and situations from other series. And if you’ve read Rook and Ronan and the Company you will know exactly what I’m talking about and you will be super excited about where these books are going
Of course first things first: This is Book #6 and You will Most Def Need to read Book#5 BEFORE this book or you going be so LOST!!
First I was a bit confused as to why Tony was taking a trip to Fort Collins CO. If you haven't been in that part of the country with Julie Huss well, you already been missing out!! Lots of things happen in and around Fort Collins!! Like Sick Boyz Tattoo Shop, with all the Vaughn Brothers!! Julie I am rocking to hear about a "Vic Book" I mean seriously I have always needed to know about Vic as in Viscious, yes who names a boy that? Vaughn's do that's who! I mean who doesn't wanna meet Vic now, C'mon! Lol
This little gem of a book is written because a Love/Hate Relationship with Tony Dumas and Belinda Baker and you've read. Tony is Alonzo brother and book 5 (about Alonzo and Tara which ya gotta read before this or you are LOST!. Anyways they were having a Long Distance Make Believe Phone Romance hot sex and all. Its a make believe librarian and he was what? Brain fart, maybe he was a tax consultant? Something geeky like that. Most assuredly OR not a Dumas brother of Key West? A son of the Sea's secret life of the family who believes in Sirens, yes oh yes he does believe that! So you gotta read that Lol Anyways Belinda just so happened is best friends with Tara the Liberian from Fort Collins but before that Tara is from CA, a bit of a transplant with some FBI help. So anyways Belinda Baker who is now living in Fort Collins for the past 8 yrs, pretty much changed life and no ties to Key West until her best friend needs a ride to Key West and fast. Belinda says she is going no way would she let a friend take a trip like that and of course then we have Vann Vaughn. And he, well he must drive them. He is Best Frands with Belinda so he volunteers and all kinds of things going on here.
So now if ya haven't read Book #5 go read it and hopefully that makes since.
I Loved how this story is told! Its Tony Dumas come to find out why he cant stop thinking of his once girlfriend whom he didn't get along with anyways and he was fine that she was sent to Fort Collins, goodbye and good riddance. but that's not how he is feeling now that has seen her. He cant sleep, or eat of work without thinking of his high school sweetheart. The one he fought with and had a weird little fetish sex life of a sorts. Is he guilty of that? He decides to go to Fort Collins and see whats going on, is the FBI snooping and into what. And what you might not expect to find is the Belinda has Zero desire to see Tony, she hates him now, that life is over. So she doesn't understand the interest in her when all he did was make her sad and cry tears and be sad. Weirdest is he knew she cried even like way back and he liked the tears. Does he want them back? He doesn't know but he wants them and he knows that is sick but they were his, he cant help but to think if he goes and finds her and they get each other out of their systems maybe he can go back to not knowing or caring about Rosalie (from Key West) but in her new life she is Belinda Baker, receptionist an tattoo artist in training at Sick Boyz were people come from everywhere to get a tat. She has always Loved art, did all kinds of wall art and graffiti in Key West and was good enough to do a mural on a wall. But that wall is owned by someone else that painted over her art. So she plans to do tattoos, she is happy in her life she has built. he is actually happy she found something in art because she was really good and with the Tattoos he has seen from Vann and the other going in an out of Sick Boyz he knows its a legit place, but he doesn't really care he just needs her and for them to set together and just settle up, get up all this pent up aggression and jealousy they have always had OUT!!! Belinda misses and needs her best friend that moved to her hometown, but that's not her home now, this is home isn't it? She just has her job and Vann. He has been around since she came 8 yrs ago, matter of fact he got her the job she is still doing. And Vann has zero intentions of any shenanigan's going on with Tony, he wants him gone. Problem is Vann is Belinda's only best friend as of now, ao ia it tread lightly or risk blowing it all up. And he knows he has much different feelings than she does and she can feel those because he has helped her make a good life here. A job, apartment, became a great friend so if anything changed now she would be in trouble because she would again have nobody, well she still has Tara technically but she is in Key West now, so that hunt has been on, because she needs a new best friend, someone she likes and right now she cant find one, they all cant stand her because of unfounded jealousy of Vann, for her its everything Vann Vann Vann, everyone loves Vann!! She has told Vann for years she doesn't feel that way for him. But Tony, she has wept for him and she fears she will all over again. He has come to break her all over again. The sick unhealthy relationship they have always carried with them is lurking, and she is not sure she can handle it, the feeling hit right when she saw Tony! And Tony, oh he puts that extra blood boil on for Vann. But does Vann start off strong or no, he can have Soshee right? Yeah so in walks Soshee Aneci and just so happens Tony bumps into her, so Soshee well she is in love with Vann, she works for her aunt and she has perfect views of Sick Boyz just 2 doors down and she see's Tony his first day in town and watches him watching Belinda because well Soshee she doesn't like Belinda because she is standing in her way of her soulmate Vann, that just doesn't do. So Soshee meets Tony they decide to team up to work together and he cant get Belinda out of his mind or figure out what is going on with himself and do a lil snooping his brother asked him to do. and this is a story we get from JA Huss. 2 POV's Tony's and Belinda's but whose story is it? Well ya gotta read to figure that out.
The is a good lil bit of some excerpts pulled an shared from someone but who and when in the story? Who gets the Love Story I mean we are in Fort Collins CO people, pay attention because it might not even be in this book, right? Ha ha!!
"I'm obsessed by him, My Love is All consuming. its sweet, sweet sick feeling in my stomach, that makes me hungry for more, its a simple Love too, A cliché kind of love that comes from watching to many rom com movies. Pure and Innocent, but still sexy in a fun way" Yep that....I love all of this!!
Anyways great way to work us up for this story Julie, the characters awesome, some you love to hate on and some you instantly LOVE! This kind of work in storytelling at its best! It comes through a passion of writing and stepping out of bounds a lil bit. Sometimes surprising us with what we will get. Just what we find and go through this time in Fort Collins.
her writing always lifts me in some capacity I cannot explain it. It can be hard core, Cray cray, killers and whatever she throws our way I seem to soak it up!! I love that about JA Huss, she can just grab me from hanging by threads sometimes and by the end I am smiling. I am not worried about Covid19 or my hubs at work, my grandson. I'm just in this book, its what I have to do today because I already knew what it was going be once I opened this new book, that a new adventure would pour outta this woman once again and I would LOVE IT!!!
Jump into these Bossy Books, they are fun exciting, obnoxious at times and sexy as hell!!
Tony Dumas knows that something suspicious seems to be happening in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is where his ex, Belinda Baker, got sent 8 years ago. Since then he has moved on with his life but never forgotten about her until she suddenly appears back in Key West with her best friend Tara. Belinda Baker has moved on from the woman she was in Key West but has never forgiven Tony for being the cause of her life being uprooted and turned upside down. Now she has decided to return to Fort Collins as she has few ties to Key West and move on with her life. Yet Tony can’t let her go and soon gets the help of Soshee Ameci to make sure that Belinda winds up with Tony and Soshee wants Vann Vaughn who has had the longest crush on Belinda. Will Tony be able to figure out why he is so drawn to Belinda and figure out what is going on in Fort Collins for his brother before he needs to leave? Wow – this book was so much more than I thought it was going to be and at the same time completely different than what I was expecting. I went into the book thinking I wanted one thing and then part way I really realized that I didn’t want that at all but something else. Tony was interesting as he was such a cold hearted jerk but at the same time initially I was rooting for him to get what he wanted and I was confused by my feelings for that. He really didn’t deserve Belinda the way he treated her but I was still wanting them together for some odd reason. Belinda was finally living her life work for the Vaughn brothers and their tattoo shop and she was dealing with the crush the youngest Vaughn brother, Vann, had on her. She seemed to hate Tony and blamed her for uprooting her life and forcing her to leave Key West. I was super curious about what Belinda really wanted as she still seemed to be drawn to Tony and they had unfinished business. I loved meeting Soshee and her look at life really intrigued me. She was carefree yet was on a mission to obtain Vann for herself. I liked that she wasn’t pushy with Tony but really made him look at things differently and she almost challenged him in a way he wasn’t expecting. Vann was so much more grown up than his age showed and he was determined to prove to Belinda that he deserved a chance with her. He was also super observant about what was going on his town and knew that something big had happened. I also liked that he really wanted everyone involved to have their chance to say how they felt and what they were going through. At a certain point things started falling into place with Tony realizing what was happening in town and he opened up to Soshee about what he thought was happening. I liked how well they got along and how easy it was for him to bounce ideas off of her. Things started happening and you realize that things are going as they should and you are happy but you also realize that a huge confrontation is coming and it was awesome!! Lots of things were said and my jaw hit the floor a few times. When Midnight showed up I was so shocked and loved how things began to happen and I can’t wait to learn more about her but the stuff she said made me think that there are so many more books coming! The end was so awesome and I can’t wait for more! By Rebecca
I'll premise this with saying that JA Huss recommends you read Bossy Brothers book 5 Alonzo before diving into this book. There are ties with past characters and storylines you will want to know before reading about Tony.
And what the heck, Julie?! What did you do? You just gave your readers one of the best Bossy Brothers books with amazing characters that had chemistry off the hook and then you told it in a very unconventional way. It's told in dual POV, but this story really focuses on 4 characters and their journeys are all intertwined with one another. It was insane and so well played out. I couldn't have asked for more.
We first were introduced to Vann and Belinda/Rosalie in Alonzo's book. These two are friends that have worked in the Sick Boyz tattoo shop in Colorado for years. But they are only friends. When Belinda returned back to Key West with her friend Tara, Tony got all up in her business and basically followed her back and stalked her in Colorado. There is something there between them and yet he doesn't know what. So he came to "F#ck her and Forget her". Because, ya know, that works. 😂
So, we have now have Vann and Belinda back in CO and Tony that has followed Belinda/Rosalie. But who's our fourth character? Why, it's Soshee Ameci (why does that name sound so familiar, btw?) and she has a thing for Vann. So much so, that she basically stalks him from across the street of his tattoo shop. 2 stalkers and 2 friends. What can happen now? Honestly, you have no idea! Because this is where JA Huss shines. The dialogue and banter between the characters and the chemistry is just off the charts. It's deliciously entertaining, fun and honestly a little swoonworthy too. It made me want more of these four.
After connecting and finding out what each character wants, these four find out more than they bargained for. And of course, this is where Huss gives us clues and connections and maybe just maybe more twists to these brothers and other characters from past books. I'm here for those connections and twists. I'm a long time Huss reader and I LOVE finding these Easter eggs. Even if you're newer to this author or this series, she will make you want to read more. More about the Company, the Way, etc. But don't worry if you haven't, this ride will totally be worth it. I can already tell.
This book was well plotted, well thought out, sexy, funny and flowed so well. With 4 likable main characters that all held their own, this was actually surprising to me. This story may be my favorite of the Bossy bunch so far and it's not to be missed. Vann is the man we all want in our corner. Rough and Tough on the outside, but a heart of gold on the inside. And Tony just needed to meet his match. With a connection that he didn't see coming, I loved the pairing and thought they were almost scene stealing. I simply cannot wait for more of this world and see where these connections are going to go.
"This love I have for you....it's the kind that last through things. Past things. Into new things. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. You're not going to lose me. It's just not that kind of love."
TONY is the sixth instalment in J.A. Huss’ contemporary, adult BOSSY BROTHERS erotic, romantic suspense series. This is Tony Dumas, Belinda Baker, Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci’s story line. TONY should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of book five ALONZO, and makes references to several other events in other series.
NOTE: TONY and the Bossy Brothers series is interconnected with, and makes references to several events in the previous story lines, and from the author’s other numerous series including the Rook and Ronin Series: The Company Series : Meet Me in the Dark: Three, Two, One: Wasted Lust: the Mister Series- all with connections to the author’s new Creeping Beautiful series.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Tony and Belinda) TONY follows several pathways but focuses on the unfinished ‘business’ between Tony Dumas and Rosalie Thompson. Eight years earlier, Rosalie Thompson, now known as Belinda Baker witnessed something she should not have seen in Key West, Florida, and found herself in Fort Collins, Colorado, a town whose numerous residents are currently in the American WITSEC program but eight years never stopped the hate and vitriol between Rosalie Thompson, and Tony Dumas. Rosalie aka Belinda’s return home (ALONZO #5) to Key West, Florida brought back too many memories and the anger between Tony and Rosalie, and when Rosalie (now Belinda) headed back to Fort Collins, Tony found himself sent on a mission to discover the who and what of the town where Belinda now resides. But all does not go according to plan as Tony and Rosalie’s tempestuous, hate filled relationship pulls in many of the locals, including Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci. As Belinda and Tony continue their heart breaking and hostile battle of malevolence and animosity, Fort Collins’ begins to reveal a few secrets of its’ own, secrets that are going to directly affect everyone involved.
TONY is an unconventional and atypical story of romance and love; a story of hostility and pain between Tony Dumas and Belinda Baker; of the developing relationships between Vann and Belinda, and Soshee and Tony. Rosalie aka Belinda is unable to forgive Tony for sins of the past, and Tony struggles with the real reason he has returned to confront the woman he once knew as Rosalie Thompson. Tony and Belinda will find love and their own happily ever after, but not with one another.
J.A. Huss pens an original story and series of secrets, lies, mystery and betrayal. The interconnected premises reveal some of the classified information, the skeletons, and the networks and relationships that will directly affect the story lines going forward including the author’s new Creeping Beautiful series. So it is with this knowledge, you have been forewarned, that all is not as it has appeared to be, or will be in the future.
The Dumas family have a side business in Key West that is operated from a good heart, but still illegal. If you read Alonzo’s book (if not do not read Tony’s book first) you know that Tara, Belinda, and Vann are wondering about the number of witness protection people in Fort Collins. Something is off. Alonzo senses it too.
Tony leaves Key West on a mission from his brother Alonzo. There is something going on in Fort Collins that makes the Dumas brothers anxious. However, Tony’s personal mission is to track down Belinda. Tony needs to get Belinda out of his system. The only way he knows is to have one last roll in the hay. Belinda isn’t crazy about Tony’s honesty about a resolution, which sets up some serious stalking, and bickering.
Belinda and Tony were childhood sweethearts. Their relationship was a little kinky. Tony can’t understand why Belinda calls to him, and he isn’t happy about it. Back when Belinda lived in Key West, Tony helped to get her in the witness protection program. She witnessed something she should not know about. Their break was difficult for both of them, but after eight years, they moved on. That is until Belinda showed up in Key West again.
I love Bossy Brothers: Tony. When Tara, Belinda and Vann were in Florida, I expected Belinda and Vann to get together. When I started this book, I thought Belinda and Tony were going to be a couple. JA Huss decided to keep me guessing for a few chapters. At first, it pisses me off. I’m talking to Julie via Tony on my Kindle, letting everyone know this isn’t how the story is supposed to go.
Fortunately, It didn’t take long before I found myself mesmerized and into the story. Bossy Brothers are in the mist of one of my favorite Huss worlds and I was in love. The deeper I fell into the story, the more I enjoyed the way the unconventional use of the two points of view. It is two parallel stories unfolding at the same time. I love Soshee and the secrets we find out about her. I love that Belinda is using her outstanding art skills at Sick Boyz Ink. I love, love, love that Veronica Bombshell and her family are here. Finally, The Company is circling around too. I couldn’t put the book down.
Bossy Brothers: Tony ticks off all my boxes. I love the characters. One of my favorite settings. Visits with old friends. Mostly I love that the story keeps me guessing. You must read Tony’s book, so that means you must read Alonzo first. This is a great series from the first Boston Brother. What a lovely ride Julie continues with Tony’s story.
I have been thoroughly enjoying author J.A. Huss’ Bossy Brother series from the beginning, and I thought I had a good idea of where this book would head, but I was way off! Tony’s book has a different vibe than the prior books in this series of standalone novels and it is seriously fun.
Whether you met Belinda Baker in the prior book or the series is new to you, you’re going to love her. Belinda is just the right amount of spunky and vulnerable. She is an artist from Key West who is now working at the Vaughn Family tattoo parlor in Fort Collins, Colorado. Yep, Ms. Huss has taken her readers back to FoCo and Sick Boyz! I love Belinda’s pink hair and cowboy boots with short skirts. I have a crisp picture of her in my head, and it brings a smile to my face when I think of the character.
“I’m adrift in a sea of mistakes” –Belinda
Juxtapose to her diminutive stature are the Vaughn brothers. Vann, the youngest, is just as built and brawny as his brothers, but he has a charmingly romantic side that draws all sorts of attention and makes him swoon-worthy.
“I’m not a risk. I’m a f@#king promise” – Vann
Tony Dumas, who readers may have also met in the prior book, is obsessed with the Belinda he used to know. His obsession with her is more than a little strange, and it takes another obsessed stalker to get his mind off Belinda and to start noticing the odd goings on in FoCo.
Who is this other stalker? None other than Soshee Ameci. I fell in love with this character too. I was blown away by her big reveal! Ms. Huss never fails to surprise me with her twists.
These four people are thrown together for all sorts of wrong reasons, but stay together for the very best of reasons. I loved their interactions and chemistry.
Bossy Tony feels like a great second-act in a three-act play. There is a lot of great relationship building, character growth, and enough forward momentum in the storyline that by the end you’re salivating for the next juicy bit. Pay attention to the details, because as usual Ms. Huss has thrown in few red herrings with the clues in this fun romance.
4-4.5 stars
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest reviews. For more reading recommendations, visit Book Junkie Reviews at www.abookjunkiereviews.wordpress.com
I received a complimentary ARC - early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
I am a new reader for this author. The first book I ever read by her was Alonzo's story and this sorta continues that book and thats why i could not wait to dig into this story. I LOVED Alonzo's story, seriously loved it. It was hot and fun and very full of surprises. This story while it includes Tony and Belinda's story, it was very very different.
For one it features two girls/women, Belinda (told in her POV) and Soshone (She has a crush on Vann), and two guys - Tony (told in his POV), and Vann, who we also met in Alonzo. I loved Belinda's POV, she was the character I loved and the reason I wanted to read this book and I did enjoy her story alot. Vann was just as awesome in this story as he was in Alonzo's book.
I thought Tony had a thing for Belinda based on the last book but its more of shall we say a complicated relationship. Personally it was too much for my taste in a romance book. I was not a fan of him in this book and at a point I started skimming his sections.
I ate up Vann and Belinda's scenes together and I even re-read them sometimes because they were so romantic together. I loved seeing these two together. They are very much best friends and Vann is a sweetheart.
Some things that kinda grossed me out in this story was the lack of condoms. Sometimes they are okay in a story when characters go without but the lack of condoms here made for me going ick instead of thinking it was hot. Belinda ends up having sex with 2 guys in this book and Tony with two women, and the same for Vann and Soshone. So the lack of condoms was a big deal for me in relation to this story. I also tend to not enjoy seeing sex with other partners than who the main couple ends up with, and so I did not enjoy that aspect in the story.
There was also a convulted part of the story that connected to a bunch of other books the author has written, not just Alonzo but with her Rook and Company stories, and I was pretty lost during that scene and what the characters were discovering.
That said I am glad I read this story because I adored Vann and Belinda's scenes in this book and I loved Vann's brothers as well. I loved how Belinda got her happy ever after story at the end and I am fascinated by Vann's brothers.
Julie totally threw me off with this story in the best of ways! We first meet Belinda Baker in Bossy Brothers - Alonzo and learn that she and Tony have a past. There was a lot of tension between them in Alonzo's story so I was dying to see what was gonna happen with them. Was it going to be all "I really hate you!" but they really love each other and are too stubborn to admit it until someone basically slaps them upside the head? Or was it a case of the reader not having the whole story just yet about Belinda being sent away eight years ago? With Julie, any number of things could happen!
The first thing that was different about this book was this really isn't a story that focuses on just Tony and Belinda. It focuses on Tony and Belinda, but also Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci. The question was, who was supposed to end up with who?
It was so much fun being back in Fort Collins! If you've read Julie's Rook and Ronin series, you will be well acquainted with the town and Sick Boyz tattoos and the Vaughn family. If you haven't been in that world yet, I highly recommend hunkering down and binge reading that series. They take place before the events in Bossy Tony and I loved the little snippets that Julie wove through Tony and Belinda's story that just made me so nostalgic that I feel a re-read coming on!
There's twists and turns galore in this story, and a lot of things get revealed that made me do a double take. It also sets up a lot of things for the next book, which I'm dying for right now!! I honestly don't know how Julie keeps everything straight in these books. There's connections galore to her other series' that long time readers will pick up on and delight in, but she's written them in such a way that new readers will not be confused or feel like they're missing anything. I am just having so much fun reading all of these Bossy books!
As far as Tony and Belinda? I was completely surprised at how their stories turned out. But very happy for both of them. I closed this book with a huge smile on my face, rubbing my hands together in anticipation for what's going to happen next!
One of my favorite things about this author is her ability to have the smallest of details make an appearance in future storylines. Every time something comes up and gives me that "aha" moment and the pieces fall together I cannot help but remember why I fell in love with reading in the first place. Since I first discovered her, I knew she was magic and with this book, I not only feel that way again but I also wonder if she is even human because the way that she creates a story that can be read as a standalone but also offers additional insight into other books or will eventually enhance a future story is mindboggling.
Twists and turns, suspense, humor, steamy times, fantastic characters, AND going back to Fort Collins where EVERYTHING first began and my love of this author began. Even with the connections to previous books and characters, new readers to this author will enjoy the books and not be behind, and for diehard Hussies, like myself, it offers a chance to go back to a world that meant everything to us. This story is different than is usually found in romance, again huge props to the author for thinking outside the box, and the romance connection between four main characters is unusual. The way that I thought it would go is much different than I expected which made the story that much more fun. Belinda, Tony, Vann, and Soschee are all delightful characters that made me laugh and also swoon at times.
In typical fashion, the story still raises questions of what will happen next but also gave me a resolution for these characters. I am sad to see their story come to an end but am content knowing that at some point they will play a part in some other story, even if just a mention, all make it okay in the end. There is a reason that this author is a one-click author for me and why I schedule real life around her release dates.
BOSSY BROTHERS: TONY is NOT a standalone. To fully appreciate the storyline and the characters, you MUST have read Bossy Brothers: Alonzo. There are details found in Alonzo that tie in with those in TONY. So if you haven't read Alonzo put TONY away ... you'll enjoy the journey so much more if you do.
Julie Huss has never been bound by conventional storylines, and with TONY she knocks all conventions out of the ball park. This book was absolutely brilliant. The storyline, the characters, everything was completely mesmerising. A book I could not put down.
Told from dual POVs, this story concentrates on Tony Dumas and Rosalie Thompson (now known as Belinda Baker). I did not think much of Tony's character in Alonzo, however the more Ms Huss has revealed about him the more he grew on me. This is a man who was built of so many layers, and as each one was peeled back, the more intrigued I became. He has an intensity and rawness about him that pulls you in. Rosalie/Belinda's character is deeply complex and often in denial over everything that she is experiencing. Her belief that she is now safe is about to be blown apart. The chemistry between these two is completely off the charts ... making for some very interesting reading.
Not only is this a story about Tony and Rosalie/Brenda though. The more you read, the more you realise that Vann Vaughn and Soshee Ameci are pivotal to the storyline. Huss is superb with the way in which she has interwoven Tony, Rosalie, Vann and Soshee together. Emotions are rife throughout, as are friendships, romantic dalliances, tension and suspense.
Brilliant from beginning to end. A JA Huss masterpiece.
Bossy Brothers: Tony features two girls falling for the wrong men and two men falling for the right girls. A family of tatted up brothers and a town filled with secrets and danger. A story of earned chances and first dates. Of coming to terms with the past and finding a way into the future.
This description offered by the author hits this book on the head! The past history between Tony Dumas and Belinda Baker first came to light in the previous book, Bossy Alonzo, when she road-tripped with her best friend, Tara, and Vann Vaughn (we'll come back to Vann) to Key West, her former hometown. Due to circumstances that involved Tony, that happened 8 years ago, she relocated to Fort Collins, where she works at Sick Boyz, the tattoo parlor that Vann and his brothers own. Still angry with Tony, she returns back to Colorado with Vann, who she has put into the 'best friend" zone. Her tumultuous relationship with Tony was always filled with angry sex, yet the two share a connection even after 8 years. Tony follows Belinda, formerly known to him as Rosalie, to Fort Collins because he's confused about why he can't get someone that he loathes out of his mind. While in Fort Collins, he meets Sochee, who happens to have a huge crush on Vann, but he's been in love with Belinda since they met 8 years ago!
Thankfully, the story is told from both Belinda and Tony's points of view, so we have insights to help us understand their true feelings as each of them figures it out! Those respective journeys are what make this book so fascinating to read and enjoy. Underneath their story is an overarching mystery, which JA Huss has woven through many of her series, surrounding the FBI. This piece adds intrigue and humor with the way our characters handle details as they uncover them. This part of the story does not get resolved, but the couples do sort themselves out in the end! Bravo!
Bossy Brothers Tony #6 I have to say took me by surprise. Really? Should I be surprised that Julie throws the curveball that makes you go, wow!, I didn't see that coming. I really shouldn't be, but I always am that surprised.
You can read the blurb and get the gist of the story. I am not going to write you a book report on this book. I will tell you what I think and feel.
I do have to say that you do have to read Alonzo's book #5 to truly understand some of the stuff going on in this story. I love that Julie put in the back of the book when certain characters enter the scene. So if you want to start from the very, very beginning. Then you know which order you should read them.
When I first started reading this book I was thinking about how is this going to work when the two main characters, Tony and Belinda, hate each other. Enter Vann Vaughn and Soshee. What woman wouldn't want the attention of a Vaughn man? Hot tatted up biker tattoo artist? Sign me up.
What I really LOVED was the professing of love Vann gives Belinda. Why give him all the chances he hasn't earned? How many times can we say this about ourselves? Why give that date, friend, co-worker, the chances they haven't earned. That you just gave that love, friendship, bonding, over willingly without understanding that these people could be toxic to you or you to them. I am very guilty of this myself. I love that Julie takes those moments and incorporates them into her stories.
When I thought I was reading ONE story about two people you are reading two stories about four people and it is just amazing. The sway and flow of the interactions with each other, this is writing at its finest.
This incredible piece of fiction was devoured in one sitting. There was no other option but to read from beginning to end, paying no attention to the outside world. It was THAT good!
This story is set in The Bossy Brother’s World and is the next book after Bossy Brothers: Alonzo. All of these books have been pure fictional gold and I wasn’t disappointed in the least!
Tony is not at all who I expected him to be. In Bossy Alonzo, he was broody and angry and, at the beginning of Bossy Tony, this is exactly who he appears to be. What I didn’t expect, were his layers, his raw intensity, his need!
Belinda (Rosalie) is complex, adrift and in total denial. She thinks that running from Fort Collins has saved her but she’s about to find out that nothing can erase the past.
Tony and Belinda tell the story from their points of view, but as we find out, their stories are not just about them. Van Vaughn (charming, beautiful and utterly devoted) and Soshee (untamed, bold and unashamedly unique) become pivotal to this continually unfolding story. The lives and personalities of these characters are all consuming and so well written and the ties to other J A Huss worlds makes my heart happy!
In true J A Huss style, Bossy Tony rips away any pre-conceived ideas you might have had about what’s happening, turns you upside down and inside out before pulling all of the frayed edges and loose ends back together in the most entertainingly spectacular fashion.
There are so many things I’d like to say about this book, but I don’t think I’d ever do it enough justice. You just need to read it to believe how good it is!
