The Demons' Muse: Volumes 1-3 is the first of two box sets in this series.
The Kiss of Death - Book 1:
I always imagined Death's final kiss would be cold. It wasn't.
Four years later, I can still remember the exact shade of his skin: a blue so pale it looked like moonlight. I dream of his touch. Mostly, I paint the man under the heavy cowl, including those perfect lips which ruined mine for anyone else.
I'm obsessed with him.
For Love of Evil:
I'd always thought bad boys were sexy, but this was taking it to the extreme.
Clearly, I had issues. After becoming obsessed with Death, the angels came for me, and then I ended up in Hell. Oddly, that sounds a lot worse than it really is. Don't get me wrong, the demons in this place are pretty annoying, but there are a few perks.
At least four of them. Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, and Samyaza.
The Sins of Desire:
We're taught that people are sinners or saints. Who says I can't be both?
See, I'm a bad, bad girl. The kind who loves Satan. Falling in bed with the demon of seduction, befriending the demon of knowledge, being guarded by Beelzebub, and making deals with Lucifer? This is what I call a normal day.
Just one problem: good and evil aren't at all what I expected.
The Demons' Muse: Volumes 1-3 is packed with the first three full-length novels of the series, with NO cliffhanger ending, consisting of 477,400 words. This is a Reverse Harem series which includes multiple love interests, increasing m/m themes, and graphic scenes of sex, violence, and language. Be warned: everything you thought you knew about the world, religion, and death will be pulled apart, twisted around, and put back together in ways you will not expect.
I really enjoyed this series and have every intention on reading the next few books.not was well written, grabbed my attention, and the characters were easy to love. With that being said, there were so many conversations repeated over and over and over again explaining Sia's insecurities and how certain things worked between worlds that I found myself slimming over entire pages. Maybe a little less "filler conversations" and more actual character development. Still though, it's an excellent series.
This set contains the first 3 books in the series, which totals 5.
In the first book we meet Sia and her guys. We learn of the hardships she had growing up and how strong she is to have gotten to where she is now, despite it all. We first meet Sia during a robbery in a convenience store. It's also where we first see a hint of the incredible world building that Auryn has set up. Sia ends up at a university where she learns that life isn't as simple or as black and white as most would make it out to be. We are introduced to the world of angels and demons as well as "right" vs. "wrong" and "good" vs. "evil."
Without giving away too many spoilers: We are not only introduced to the main characters and given a view of the beautiful relationships developing but we also get to see "heaven" and "hell" and are shown just how detailed and extravagant Auryn's world building truly is. Book 1 sinks it's claws into you and sets this series up to be truly epic.
Book 2 continues on with a ton of character development as well as world development. We watch Sia grow and learn and become more powerful. We also see the relationships develop as well as the huge struggle within them. Sia struggles to break the bindings of what is "normal" within our world and in terms of a relationship she struggles to come to terms with having more than one lover. Auryn does a very good job of voicing the internal and emotional struggles that come with breaking the society norm and showing a character/person overcoming those struggles for the sake of love. We are also shown more of the real issues that our group and the world in general are facing among the other "worlds" and the angels and demons.
Book 3 is much the same as book in the sense that it continues on with the growth of the characters, relationship, worlds, and conflict. It shows them getting stronger as a legion. Sia learns more of who and what she is as well as develops more of her abilities. The relationship(s) continue to grow and get stronger. There are still a lot of questions but this book helps answer some from previous books. It's clearly the middle book in the series in that it is honestly more development to help progress the story. This does not, in any way, mean that it is not as good as book 1 and 2; it is fantastic. I will say that of them all, this one provided the most angst and bit of frustration for me but that is solely within the relationship area (at this point I was pulling for one of the guys but it just hadn't happened yet).
This series is a must if you enjoy paranormal, romance, reverse harem, and epic fantasy reads. The books are long, well written and not overly "talky." The world building is fantastic and continues to be built on in each book rather than forgotten and left in the background. The characters are well rounded, they have depth, heart, beauty, and even flaws. It's easy to lose yourself inside the world and the story when reading these. I devoured them and had massive book hangovers afterwards waiting for the next in the series to be released. You do need to have an open mind as it does touch on religion and is a completely different take on what most view as "right" and "wrong." The relationship is also very graphic at times, both in good and the struggles. There is M/M in heavy doses and the sex steams are very graphic and insanely sexy and steamy. Personally, these things are major pluses for me but they are things for you to be aware of if you have triggers or strong feelings towards religious ideas or if things such as M/M are taboo for you.
I have read all 5 books in the series. I purchased them all on kindle as well as the paperbacks. An honest review by a true lover of the series.
I did not like these books. But that I guess that is on me. I found the name of the series in a reverse harem group, but this series is not a reverse harem. So my limits of acceptable behavior within a harem were not just pushed but blown away. It created a lot of anguish in me and I'm sorry but I wish I never started the series. I understand that the author was going for the free love thing but it went wayyyy overhead. We are to imagine that the creation of the 5 dimensions started with the abrupt creation of the demons and angels and then we have to imagine that they happen to be all male just because they are absolutely immortal, they can't be killed just put to sleep if drained of aether. And that for some reason would defeat the necessity of female counterparts, so no females exist in those two planes of existence, even the animals are male. Then we have to accept that the immortal males fell in love with other males in the absence of women. Then we have to agree that once they get to hop on other dimensions they found women and decided that some of them are still bi with a preference either male or female and some of them prefer men. Somehow we don't meet a single straight demon. Then Sia comes, she is human, she gets into a legion of demons with one angel in it. And we are supposed to just accept that all the guys have already been in love with each other, still in love, hooked up, trying to hook up, looking for people to hook up. It's all happy fucking. How come there aren't any asexual demons? Or just heterosexual? Is that sooooo damn extreme? But ohhh she finds it hot to see them kiss.... but don't want them to kiss without her, but then... that's so damn unfair to them, let them fuck whenever if they like. And we have all these side relationships developments like Luce and Ron, Nick and Luce, Nick and Sam, Bel and Ron..... Give me a fucking break. I blame myself. This author is known to me with the excessive male on male action but I was still seduced by the great worldbuilding and the unpredictable storyline. I loved Sia's tantrums, she created so much fun for me, fighting, using her powers, meeting scary characters, learning about the universe, punishing bad characters. And I would have loved to keep reading if only the males didn't keep fucking each other. I'm giving it 4 stars because if you like m/m then sure, have a good time. That would just never be me.
I wanted to dnf this book so many times but I was determined to finish it. I finally made the call into the third book. I have never read a reverse harem where the female lead fights being in the harem for three entire books. Having the same arguments over and over was getting very old.
The characters have no individual voices so it can be difficult to tell who is speaking in a conversation. You really have to pay attention to keep track and sometimes in group conversations there’s just no indication of who is talking.
The book likes to “reveal” things repeatedly which got really frustrating. Like yeah, we already know this why are we supposed to be shocked? The characters already knew this why are they shocked? There were several times where the author forgot her own lore or back story and rewrote things differently.
Throughout the book the characters would have these conversations where someone would say something ridiculous or shoot down a good idea for reasons that don’t make sense, they would justify that reasoning and then everyone would go, “ya that makes sense.” Or “I hate to admit he makes good points/has a good point.” And I’m just sitting here frustrated yelling what? No, there were no good points what is happening.
This is probably more nitpicking here but throughout the book any time any character was upset or hurt or whatever, whichever character they were talking to would call them sweety. Every single one and it started to sound so condescending. And if I heard an immature or whiny use of the word boyfriend one more time I might through my phone.
If you are going to write characters that are older then time. Literally existed billions of years before sludge, don’t make them this immature. It’s so insanely frustrating.
I don't even know where to start. I'm simply in love with this author. It has everything I could want. It's beautifully written, well developed and complex, but understandable world, believable characters, with believable feelings and arcs. And the story is just beyond perfect for me. Outside the box, but without being 'in your face' about it. It just is. I am a huge fan of this, a new favorite author. And THEN #2.. HOLY $h!+ (yes Bel). So HOT!! And yet still more to go. And the fantastic story separate from the romance is still intriguing without being desperate and depressing. I SMILE when reading these books, even when tears crop up, or action scenes have me tense, I'm still HAPPY. So many authors resort to misery to create a climax, but this is just great storytelling, and total happy vibes. And by the third book, this is so much more than just a reverse harem, it's a multi-focal romance. And STILL holds onto its fantasy action credentials. This book has ruined me for everything else. Nothing will ever match it!
I really like this series… there is some downfalls but the concept/story is nice enough I kinda overlook them.
It’s a little confusing because the authors tries their best to explain why/how certain things happen in story but she then explains them more than once so the reader eventually gets it.
Though of that end of explaining thing I feel like the FMC gets things (especially her relationships) explained too much. Like we know she has reservations about loving more than 1 man but she talks about it for 2-3 books worth (so for months in the story line). Other than that I like that the RH is all interconnected… the guys like some of the other guys but the muse is their center so to speak.
In this set you get the first 3 books of The Demons' Muse, and that's a very good thing if you have not read any of this series. For one, it only takes one Kindle Unlimited slot, (always a good thing!), but also, once you start reading and get to know these characters, you won't want to stop to download the next book. Without giving away any spoilers, the author takes everything you thought you knew, and turns it inside out. Well edited, with humor and a fast paced storyline, the story draws you in immediately and doesn't let go. Definitely intended for an 18+ reader, this set is great for anyone who enjoys truly amazing storytelling.
Okay let me start by saying the world building and concepts of these books are really well done. I’m not really into harem romances, especially when the body combinations are truly mind boggling and just unrealistic, as far as mechanics go at least Unfortunately for me the story is more interesting than my romance dislikes. I don’t know where I’m going with this review but, suffice it to say that a lot of you fools out there rated it very highly; and just know, I’m seriously giving you the side eye👀. I’m going to finish this damn series, because, well I’m fully committed now. I’m dying to read something else but I will triumph over this damn series.
VERY GOOD SERIES...DEFINITELY WORTH SLEEPLESS NIGHTS
I love this authors work. Great imagination. Written well. I didn't notice any writing or grammar mistakes. I rated the first three books in this series four stars* only because of the second book in the series. Let me explain.... The main character, Sienna, kept hem hawing (questioning, doubting herself) back and forth so much in book two, about the gift of having a reverse harem of five. It got on my last nerve, so much so I almost stop reading the series. i was like, come on get on with it already....lol Anyway, I am so glad I continued to read. Now I am off the finish reading the last two books. Enjoy.
Honestly this book has made me kick my feet more than most I've read recently. I think it has such strong charectors and while the mc can be a bit annoying with how she resist the dynamic sometimes it makes sense, and eventually she becomes accepting around the third book so it is much more bareable. The writing is amazing and I genuinely care about all of these charectors, and the relationships, oh goodness they are so real. The spice too is amazing, I love a good polycule and that's what this book has. Absolutely love it and if you wanna see a realistic showing of someone coming to terms with polyamory this is pretty damn true, even if it's annoying. I genuinely love this book series so much.
What a steemie story!!! Absolutely love it! In the beginning I was kind of iffy about this book the FMC kind of confused with how she sounded like a future badass but then was constantly questioning everything. As I got further into the series it all made sense. Can’t wait to see the 1st Legions love story grow. And I can’t wait to see if my guesses of who the lavender guy with feathers is is right. Please keep me guessing. I love a story when I thought I figured out the ending and then boom twist after twist to keep me guessing till the end!!!
I absolutely love this series I love everything about it except Sia going back and forth about loving all of the guys and feeling guilty about it. But here’s the thing! It’s written realistically but the fact that it was so tedious to read at times that it made it into a chore, so much so that I actually skipped a couple pages! But That aside the book was amazing! I can’t wait to see what Sia does next , she is so bad ass! I can’t wait to read the next 2 books in this series, miss Hadley has written another amazing series 👍🏾
I realized I didn't leave a review before so here it is. I love this series. I only have to wait two more days to get the final book...yeah!!! The characters are wonderful and easy to love. This series is well written and flows easily. The story line is as intriguing as it is engaging, in other words you will binge this series because you can't possibly put it down. Take my word for it you will not regret getting this series. All I have left to say is ENJOY, I know I did!!
I really love this story so far. Getting it as a boxset is great, as I was able to binge read all 3. And, as an added bonus, the other 2 are also already available. I like the characters, the storyline, the overall premise of it all. I like that the story makes you question actions and behaviour, and stipped the usual trope of “angels are good, demons bad”. The sex scenes were good (and hot!) but not overly or unnecessary inserted. It actually made the story better. Cannot wait to find out what happens next!
World building and depth of characters are amazing as previous series by this author. This series goes deeper into the polyamorous relationships between characters and how they all struggle to find their place in the legion. Feels a bit repetitive at times, but I like that they each struggle with their past to build something stronger. Just found myself chomping at the bit to get to more plot instead of rehashing character insecurities again and again.
I love all of Auryns other series. They are all on top of my re-read list. However, this series has some series issues and only gets redeemed in the last 5% of book 3. The dialogue is very repetitive. I’m missing something from the characters development. I’m not fully invested in them, someone could die and I would not be upset. I’m not sure why this series does not flow like all the others but it just doesn’t reach the standard she has set for her books.
I love Sia and her men, but Sia is my favorite she’s Bad@ss and she’s amazing when she learning and creating. I love how she loves hard and loves with out fear. The next books are going to be amazing. I love Auryn Hadley her books are always amazing. The first series I read of hers was ROTI and I couldn’t get enough and I wanted more and I was excited to see the 11th book. Thank you for all your hard work Auryn.
Gawd I love this series so much. The character portrayal is excellent. The storyline is gripping. The whole thing works.
There is spice and m/m and of course multiple partners as well as turning 'conventional religion' on it's head. All those big bads we are taught are the worst of the worst are actually the 'good' guys in this series. So if that's not something you like then don't read. Just don't be an a$$ and complain about it if you do .
I love having the first three in the series bundled tidily into a box set. Obs the series is too long for all to go into one box set but having 1-3 like this kept me in the story and was probably responsible for how tired I’m going to feel in the morning. Absolutely adore auryn Hadley and her work.
I love Auryn’s version of good vs evil. Anyone that challenges the status quo has my respect but this was done so beautifully. When you find out everything you know is wrong; when right is wrong, up is down, art drips magic and it’s okay to love more than one person, what do you do? You embrace the evil and become more than you ever thought you could.
Sia and her legion are amazing and it is great that there is a heavy emphasis on developing their relationships throughout. Auryn is also great at world building in her books that you will fall in love with
Love the progression of the characters and how although Sia struggles to accept what’s happening to her life she’s still a complete badass! Can’t wait to read the next books!
Filled with warmth, love, laughter and tension. Real characters and storyline’s. Fell in love with the whole first legion and can’t wait to read the next book.
God i loved this set. The author makes her characters real and the building of their emotions and thought process is just fantastic. Theyre so flippin real its just beautiful and the way their relationships exist together is just awesome.
This is an incredible series . The world building is done perfectly with a storyline that is a true joy to read. The characters are what make this truly sublime. Team Bel for me!
This series like much of Ms Hadley's work has unique and complex world building. This is paired with deep and intense character and relationship arcs that will make you unable to put down her book.
I downloaded the 3 books after someone recommended them on tik tok I have not been able to put them down I have already downloaded number 4 cannot wait to carry on the story would highly recommend to anyone
What a great series! I really enjoyed the characters, the amazing world building and her twist on the heaven and hell trope. I always love a good RH and this didn't disappoint. Nice and steamy! I can't wait to read the next books in this series
