I found this book to be opposite of most, meaning I was hooked in the beginning and lost interest quickly after. I thought the plot was good; however, I did not think it was well written. The stores jumped around too much and the characters were not consistent. I also found myself wondering what time period it was based in even though it called out recent years (2006). There were a lot of typing errors (missing words even) that I feel should have been caught. Basically, it was a good idea but it didn’t feel as though the story was outlined before it was written.

I tried looking for the book but it doesn’t show up anywhere. The info popped on my FB newsfeed and was interesting. I tried searching Amazon and Apple Books. I looked up the author and title but neither exist. Can someone direct me to where I can find it. Thanks

The storyline itself was really quite good, but the writing of it was so stilted and awkward that it really made it hard to enjoy. I used an app called Dreame to read this book and that app was awful. I could not find the story anywhere else and I read the first chapter as a freebie and was so curious that I downloaded the app to continue... big mistake. The app kept loading previous chapters as new chapters and messing up the order of chapters. It was ridiculous and definitely detracted from the enjoyment. Plus you have to pay a separate fee for each chapter you read and the book becomes more expensive than buying it in hardback.
But back to the story... Alice is a hardworking girl that is trying to take care of her brother and pay for his much needed heart surgery. She sees an ad for a billionaire searching for a wife and decides to interview. Alice finds out soon that she is in way over her head with the Maslow family. She and Gideon seem to come to some understanding of their roles, but Alice gets a little too curious and family secrets start to unfold. And so does the romance...
A few of my issues with the book - writing was very rudimentary and the characters were no well developed. The story wasn’t rich and in depth - just kind of “this happened then this.” The editing was abismal. This author desperately needs an editor. Too many little convenience “all of the sudden they were in love,” moments. Just some weird oddly placed nuances that made me shake my head.

Honestly it wasn't a bad story. It has 40 chapters and really covers half a year in time, but there were several typos and storyline plot holes. New characters were brought in and seemed to know the MCs, but we were never given any information on them or why they were there. The story goes from the female pov to the males pov, but you have to read to figure out whose pov it is currently as there are rarely any indicators (I think I saw 1 chapter) that said whose pov was being used. This is a fairly in depth story and there are lots of details that just left at "family tradition". So the story feels shallow and not as intriguing as it should have been.

This book reminded me a little of Beauty and the Beast. The castle they lived in had forbidden floors, and secrets to be uncovered. The story itself was excellent. I started reading this book around 8 pm, and ended up staying up till the sun came up. It was hard to find a stopping place. The love between Gideon and Alice was tender yet smoking hot. I wished this book was found on Amazon. I would have love to download it to my kindle. The only copy I could find was online. It did have misspelled words, and some sentences had missing words. The story was so good, that the mistakes didn’t really bother me. Don’t start reading this one before bed unless you want to stay up all night like I did.

Holiday easy read, you slide through the chapters to see where it is going, a little bit predictable, but it was ok and I liked it.

"Money was not what made you rich, it was family and the number of people who loved and supported you unconditionally that made you rich. Money would come and go depending on time, but family and friends stayed forever.

And that was the true wealth."

I found this on Facebook and read it through a site called inkitt. The site was awful to use as it did not change chapter seamlessly.
It was a quick easy read but it is in need of some serious editing and proofreading. It was full of errors which sometimes made it difficult to read.
I felt that sometimes storylines were mentioned then not mentioned again which, for me left holes in the plot leaving some weak characters. With some tweaks it has the potential to be a good book.

I really enjoyed the book. Although, I believe the story could have been expanded upon. There was potential to add more to it. There were many grammatical errors. I would read more from this author.

My six-word memoir: Emotionally crazy family, love, money, belonging.
Reading this book was a new kind of experience for me as it was a young adult/romantic book and I don't read much of those genre. I liked the grit and determination of the protagonists. The relationship curve was very good. All the family drama made me turn the pages. The only downside was that I found the story predictable.
Some of my favorite quotes are from the book are:
A beautiful sparkle in his eyes that I had never seen before but never wanted it to extinguish

Calm down, it is not him talking, it's that negative emotion that is ruling his mind that is saying all sorts of nonsense

"Money was not what made you rich..."

Read on an app called Dreame. It had a great beginning and middle but felt like they rushed the ending.

This first chapter of this book popped up as a sponsored link on Facebook. Once I read it I was hooked and decided to find the full story. As I started reading the story I realized that it definitely needed some work. There were a lot of mistakes and a lot of unanswered questions. The story itself wasn’t bad and I was invested in it so I did finish. But the characters attitudes were inconsistent and could be verbally abusive and controlling. The heroine seemed pretty dumb sometimes and her brother kind of almost got forgotten half way through for the most part. Not the best book I ever read but definitely not the worst. Could be great if it was rewritten.

Was really good, a page turner. However the writer had grammar and spelling errors. I read 10 chapters a day for the first 2 days then 2 - 4 chapters a day. I used to not have time to read and this story got my interest and kept it!

The plot was bland. The guys were incredibly insulting and controlling. If his wife didn't eat her lunch in the time he gave he would leave work to spoon feed her and she would be grounded. Because apparently as a grown woman she didn't have the right to say no to lunch even though she was overall healthy. She was even insulted and manipulated until she was trapped into marriage. She was supposed to be strong willed and independent but the second he wasn't happy she would curl up and apologize until he was ok again. She even thought of killing herself because he got mad at her, the girl that was forced to marry a stranger in the first place. Nothing about this book is healthy or happy, except how everything magically all snapped together and they all become a big happy family some how.

It had such a good set up for a beauty and the beast type story but missed it completely. Complete waste of time reading this.

For the first time in my…twenty YEARS (😮‍💨) of reading romance books, I gave up. I gave UP. I’ve read some boring novels and powered through, but I could not keep reading this absolute…trashhhhh. 😫

The guy. Bruh..this man. Abusive, manipulative, controlling POS..but hey her brother’s surgeon is standing at 6’ tall and Gideon is a few inches taller.

It’s a marriage of convenience that will last 1 year in which she has to give him an heir to get money. They signed a contract. When he gets mad, he calls her a whore. When she get pregnant and she’s mad and calls herself a whore, to use his word, he gets mad she’s using foul language around his unborn baby.

If she wants to read, it has to be good “for the baby”, which is basically history or fairy tales.

One of the requirements is that his wife be a virgin, which she, of course, is. Why must she be a virgin? Because virgins have a better shot of getting pregnant—and the man refuses to hear otherwise.

Her big descriptors: small and thin. In case we forget, they call her “little dove” “little mushroom” “little dumpster fire”.

OH, if she’s not hungry (which comes up a LOT), he force feeds her and punishes her by keeping her from her 10 year old brother that has a hole in his heart. He is also the reason she agreed to marry this barbarian.

Now, I would talk about the writing (poor) and the plot (confusing, superficial, and full of holes), but I want to focus on how she’s basically accepted this Neanderthal because he can be so “nice”. I swear based on the fact that she’s “small and thin” and how she acts in all these ridiculous situations, she HAS to be a child. Whenever she realizes he’s acting like an ass and demanda respect, she is told to be a good wife….and she apologizes. Which honestly, given that she is receiving money for a life saving surgery for the brother she raised……….anyways, thank you for staying for my rant. Best of luck in all your future reads.

The base idea itself was interesting, don’t get me wrong in the beginning it was somewhat enjoyable however the writing is absolutely awful. I honestly felt like I was reading something written by a young child. There was no descriptive writing and even if there was it was very repetitive eg. “Sea green eyes” “bright blue eyes”. The same words were used to describe characters and it was boring and repetitive. However I powered through because I don’t like not finishing books I read, I have to say the concept was interesting and that was probably the only thing I liked about this book.

I felt as if the plot and story itself were very fast paced and characters were just accepting things on a whim, which was odd to read. Alice was not an enjoyable character, she was extremely nosy and just hard to like. I also felt like she didn’t pay that much attention to Nico once she was married which was weird since the author made it seem like Nico was her #1 priority, in-fact after his surgery she rarely mentions him. I also wish there was more of a climax to make it more interesting. Again, I’m just suggesting ideas to make the book more of a better read. Gideon’s mothers death was also brushed over very lightly and not mentioned again. Especially the way she died. I feel as if the writer could have explored both Gideon’s and Alice’s trauma on a deeper level to at least make their backgrounds seem more real to a reader. There were many plot holes and typos and many solutions to problems were left to “family tradition” which is very vague and lacks depth.

The whole family (mainly the men) had a backwards way of thinking when it came to women and they were very much apart of the patriarchy. But this was also left to a very vague “family tradition” and wasn’t mentioned or explored more after that. I think if this was explored and had some amount of depth to it, it could’ve provided a very intriguing back story on the maslow family. It had a lot of potential.

There isn’t much positive feedback I could’ve given other than the plot was mildly interesting. I wouldn’t recommend this book because it was predictable and had poor writing quality.

The book was fraught with errors unfortunately. It was based in London (UK) but the main storyline was that the main character was trying to get money to pay for her brother’s heart surgery. In the UK healthcare is free so this situation would never arise therefore the main plot was completely unbelievable and quite idiotic. Additionally, the author continued using American English eg ‘5th grade’ instead of year 5, ‘diapers’ instead of nappies, ‘OR’ instead of theatre. The author clearly doesn’t have a grasp on British English or in fact life in Britain at all and therefore the use of all these ‘americanisms’ made it completely unrealistic to read. The character development was also poor and I found the behaviour and attitude of the main characters completely non realistic to be honest. One minute the husband was happy and pleasant the next he was angry really for no reason at all. He would fly off the handle at silly things but in a way that was completely non believable. Lastly, the amount of grammar/spelling mistakes and even missing/wrong words took away from the experience of reading the book. The storyline has potential (perhaps better to be based in the US if using the premise of saving up to pay for medical treatment). However, it really needs A LOT of work.

Honest one of the most frustrating story I have ever read. The story itself is great and moved at a great pace with good plot development…. it just is not well written. It’s so bad I feel awkward reading it. Things are so over explained and instead of showing us who her charters are she tells us and it one of the most annoying thing for me, lien she spent a page describing how mad a character is only to plainly saying in a line ….. I don’t know how many time I just felt duh yea we get it already. But no matter how much I rolled my eyes at the writing style, I kept picking the story back up. Do I recommend it …no not really. There other story well written with better story lines. But still it stands that I wanted to know how they story ended so I read till the end. The one and only plot twist that really bothers me…. Spoiler Alert for those who haven’t read it…….

You can total have a kid and not have sex… they are rich, he didn’t need to get married or even sleep with her. He wanted a kid he could have literally paid a woman to do just that in a contract without marriage or sex, artificial insemination style… but then we wouldn’t have a story so I digress but it was such a big plot hole for me, they never even touch on it.

Well I have started this and while the writing is engaging, so far it has made me cross - cleary the author has zero knowledge of the U.K. and has done zero research.

The small fact that it is set in the U.K. to start with means that Alice would not need to raise money for her brother to have surgery (he would have had it for free on the NHS - because our health service is for everyone, not those who can afford it) by way of a scheme that quite possibly violates modern slavery rules. You want the surgery cost to be a thing? Base it in the USA where it as least has a slight ring of feasability... But why let a little thing like that stand in the way of a mediocre story?

I don't think I will bother with the rest.

Honestly….no. I’m sorry, but was this written by an AI? It was the most unhinged reading experience to date. I can’t even finish it. I don’t know what the characters look like, how old any of them are, what time period the book is set in. The only reason I know it’s based in GB is because of the currency. The most descriptive the author got was about Alice’s extreme fascination with the woman in the portrait, and even then other than “she’s pretty” the author didn’t elaborate much.
The writing is so juvenile, and if I didn’t know the main character was old enough to work at a bar, I would guess she wasn’t older than 14 with the way she behaves in any given situation. Save yourself some time and skip this book unless you’re looking for a good laugh at the authors expense.

Read a brief snippet on Facebook that got me somewhat hooked. Looked it up on google and finished it on an app. There were grammatical errors here and there, but that’s usually expected when you read a book for free. It has a good storyline and there really is potential here, but I personally feel as though the author was trying a bit too hard on the dialogue and trying to sound “sophisticated”. There was so much crammed into such a short book that if the author slowed down and spent a little more time in some areas, could have made it more enjoyable. It was overall an ok quick read, but left me disappointed.

This book is an unlikely love story that is captivating and is a true page turner. Rich CEO marries Alice, girl in the slums with a temper but a good heart. She also has a dying brother that needs a life saving expensive operation. There are plenty of secrets in the CEO’s family that Alice is too curious to not try to figure out despite the CEO’s wrath. Really fun story however there were plenty of grammatical errors, a few age/timeline errors and a few things it seems the author built up to but never delivered on. (Ex him never repairing/giving her her necklace back) (Book reminded me a bit of Fifty Shades)

It was a simple story, and half of it was taken and changed to being not as blunt an erotic...but from Fifty shades of grey!! Gideon's mindset was based on Christian grey and Alice was being a submissive..based on Anastasia. It was cut I got to READ IT ALL WITHOUT PURCHASING ANY COINS. OFF ANOTHER WEBSITE..INKITT. ITS WAD FREE PEOPLE..TO ANYONE THATS WANT TO FINISH IT. ALSO, OT WAS FUNNY I ACTUALLY ENJOY IT. IT HAS 40 CHAPTERS. OF I DIDNT GAVE HOUSEWORK, I WOULD HAVE FINISHED IT IN LESS THAN 5 HOURS!!

This book is very rudimentary, the character developement wasn't very developed. As I was reading it I wonder what year they were in, becasue it seems old world but they had cell phones, its weird. Also it reminded me of the beauty and the best. It seems like a readaptataion of that story. Also for this to be a but about UK the author didn't research the dialect for the areat, she gave a few of the terms used in the UK but not enough for me to believe this entire story was about citizens in the UK.

The author is definitely a novice, but she is able to lure i. readers from page 1, because we want to know how things work out for the main character. I wish there was more character development. Overall the story isn't terrible, but any admiration of the story is sometimes hampered by grammar and spelling errors. The romance scenes were clumsy. It's a quick read, with a sweet ending reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast, minus the curse plus pompous toxic masculinity and a tinge of abuse.

Major plot holes , set in the UK where we have the NHS , Alice's parents would not have died from not recieving care for illness nor would Alice's have to raise money for her brothers surgery as the NHS would cover this even if the parents did die they would get support to pay their rent and sickness benefits for the child , and not to mention the whole marriage thing would definitely contravene modern slavery laws also we English don't all live in castles seriously do some research awful 😂

The story is really good. I really enjoyed the few chapters I've been able to read, it's hard to wait for the next chapter to be unlocked. The only thing I am upset is when you are waiting for the chapter to be unlocked YOU NEED to keep the page OPEN or the TIME WILL STOP until you log again; meaning that if it shows that you've been waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes you log in later on again and it will tell you another time; meaning you have to wait longer. that's really wrong..
