Sharks by McMillan is a very detailed book that goes into depth of many different sharks. It just doesn't give you a the parts of one shark but many! The locations of them and how they catch their prey, all the way down to the way they hunt and stalk their prey. Young readers would love this book also because of the pop-up illustrations that are put into this text! On every other page there are 3-D images that allow children to experience the almost real life living of a shark. These sharks come in all different shapes and sizes, giving the measurements and side notes of how they differ from one another. With bold words placed in the text, they are key terms in which readers will learn by the end of the book. Sharks brings out all the basic information that children should know and giving them the chance to experience the life of one.

These fully colored pages with pop-up images puts young readers almost in the world of an ocean. A lot of readers would benefit from this and learn a lot. I encourage teachers to read this informational text to their students. One of the most dangerous creatures in the world can be explored from the head down to its fin. There is a lot of information in this story that can be used to grab the attention of readers of how the shark functions. A very good book by McMillan indeed!
