I read the first two books in this series in 2021 and then I must have been distracted or something because even though I owned the next two books, I didn’t get around to reading them. When I realized this in looking for my next read I decided this would be the book since I’d enjoyed the first two books.

This is a SciFi Cyborg romance which takes place in a whole other galaxy. Valenna is our heroine in this one. She was also in the first book where she was the not very good sister of the heroine in that book. She was a drug addict who stole from and betrayed her sister.
But in Oasis, she’s working hard at getting her life on track. She went through drug treatment and is clean and also working on repairing her relationship with her sister. She still owes some drug dealers money so when she’s offered a job in the outer part of the galaxy cleaning some kind of remote scientific facility, she takes it. The pay is very good meaning she can pay off her debt plus she will be away from the temptation of relapsing.

When she gets to the facility, she gets some very bad vibes right from the beginning. Her device linking her to the outside is confiscated and she’s forced to sign an NDA. It turns out she was right. Turns out she’s working for a rather mad scientist, one who’s also very sadistic. He’s experimenting on the hero, Anders; cyborg type experiments. Anders previously agreed to this as de desperately needed the money offered to help pay for a new heart for his beloved younger sister. But the experiments the scientist is doing are bizarre. He gave Anders the ability to breathe underwater and often keeps him in a water tank for days at a time. The only other people on this base is a small group of soldiers but something is off with them too. They are silent and never speak to anyone. So it’s a rather lonely and strange place.

But Valenna and Anders become friends and then more. But when they discover the doctor has ulterior plans for Valenna, well, they realize they need to escape.

This book is off a shorter length, closer to a novella. As such there wasn’t a lot of character development and world building, but what there was, just like in the previous two books, I enjoyed, gave four stars to and want to continue on with the series, I’m still quite taken with cyborg romance. I think this book can be read without reading the previous books but if this does sound like something you might want to try, I suggest reading Haven, the first book, well, first. It’s currently free on Kindle so it won’t cost anything. I enjoyed and you can get a feel for this world. Plus the hero/heroine of Haven are mentioned a number of times in this book so that would help when reading this one. I quite happily recommend this author and this world.

A second chance on life story.

I had previously dislike Valencia and her actions. Close to heart. Drug addicts need a lot of love and support for them not to fall back. Once life is better, then it's considered recreational. But when that sister becomes jealous and head set on destroying your life, one becomes distrustful. Oh, don't get me wrong. I loved the story. It's hard not to give chances to a loved one. Never giving up is the key. It's her previous actions. I wouldn't let her in even with a rich boyfriend. Yeah, definitely fantasy with happy ending.

This was a well written story. I thought it should have been longer; even with my dislike of the main female character. 😅

Oasis

I loved this story, i loved Anders and Valenna. Anders is a cyborg that's trapped at a facility that experiments and turns men into cyborgs by a sinister Dr. Valenna is a recovering drug addict that wants to start over and a bounty hunter gives her a lead on a job doing house keeping and takes her to another planet. Once there she discovers she's now trapped there also. I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading!!!!

Endurance

I enjoyed this book because I adore Cyborg Romances. I felt like it should have entitled the Endurance because Anders sure did hang in there. And Valenna deserved her HEA after everything she went through. Thank you Jessica Marting.

Oasis, by Jessica Marting, is the third and last book in her Zone Cyborgs series. It begins when the heroine, Valenna Merchant, who has been drug free for 14 months, runs into Janek Dalton, the bounty hunter she had hired over a year ago to find her sister, Cressida. (See the previous books in this series, Haven and Paradise.) Dalton offered her a job as a caretaker/housekeeper on a 3-month assignment on a remote planet, Omega-Three-Omega (Oh-Three-Oh), that would pay more than she could make in 2 years at her present job. Since she still owed a lot of money to the darfin dealers, her previous drug of choice, she agreed to accept the assignment and was on her way less than 2 hours later.

Barris Anders, the hero, is a cyborg whose modifications include the ability to breathe under water, among others. He’s angry that Valenna was lured to Oh-Three-Oh by Dr. Garret Jacoby, the scientist who has made the modifications to Anders, as well as to the other soldiers on the base. Anders suspects that Jacoby wants to make modifications to Valenna as well, but neither Anders nor Valenna can guess the real reason Jacoby wanted Valenna on the base. And once they discover that reason, how can they and the other soldiers escape?

The overall tone of this third book in the series is darker than the previous books. Also, if you’re really looking for science fiction, you’ll not find much here other than references to modifications to the human body and travel via a spaceship. The romance itself is sweet and I really enjoyed that part.

This space opera romance was well written and cleanly edited, with no typos or wrong word choices or missing words. This novel contained competent world building and deft characterization, with exciting suspense and high stakes. I really enjoyed and sympathized with both the hero and heroine of this novel, and it was great to see a a former drug addict trying to stay sober as a romance novel heroine. The development of the romantic relationship between the hero and heroine was organic and believable. This novel had low angst and high stakes, which is my preferred structure in a romance novel. I recommend this novel to people who enjoy a good space opera romance. The one thing I did not enjoy about this novel was that it ended abruptly without a real Happy Ever After ending. This novel could have really benefitted from an epilogue showing these two happy and together several years later to really wrap up their romance in a satisfying way.

Whwts going to happen next?
How the heck is Celcily still alive?
How does she know Jason?
What happens to Valenna and Anders?
I truly hope there is another book to this series, because I loved it too much for it to end now.
Action, intrigue, steam and love.
All wrapped up in a sci-fi, cyborg package.
Loved it and would recommend.
Happy reading!

This is an entertaining story with an illegal cyborg facility, run by an evil sociopath. I would have liked for this story to be longer, with more background detail. Anders is being experimented on, when Valencia is tricked into signing up for a cleaning job. They are rescued, along with the other cyborgs when Valencia gets a message out to her sister. There is a satisfying happy ending.

“Oasis” is a slow-paced sci-fi romance with some drama and suspense. It is an enjoyable tale, but it would have been more so if I had read books 1 & 2 first. The main characters Valenna and Anders are interesting but slightly disjointed. All in all, this was an interesting read.

The blurb about this book adequately address what happens in the story so I won't bore you with a detailed description of the book. All I can say is that if you love books about sexy men and the strong women they fall in love with then you need to read this book.
