Amish Country Murder by Mary Alford has Catherine the only surviving victim of the Dead of Night Killer. Special Agent Sutter Brenneman must find the man who has killed six women and he believes Catherine could be the key. The only problem is Catherine only remembers her name and the events that took place since she awoke in her kidnapper’s basement. Since she saw the killers face, the man is determined to kill her. It is up to Sutter to keep her alive while hunting this deadly murderer. Amish Country Murder is a fast-paced suspense novel. I began reading Amish Country Murder and did not want to put it down. I liked the main characters of Catherine and Sutter along with the setting of Eagle’s Nest, Montana. I could feel the tension and danger as they attempted to elude the Dead of Night Killer. Amish Country Murder has action, intrigue, mystery, romance and suspense. I appreciated the epilogue which nicely wrapped up the character’s story. Amish Country Murder is a page turner that will have you riveted until the very last page.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Typically, the terms Amish and murder do not go together, but in this case, they have combined to make the most thrilling, spine-tingling story I've read this year. There is nothing inappropriate and while the gospel message is not included in this tale, the faith of the Amish underlies every action by the main characters.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I struggled to put the book down because it was exceptionally well-written. Additionally, I struggled to read this book too fast lest I missed a moment of the action. I don't want to give away anything in the book except to say this is a masterful Amish thriller that will surprise you at ever turn. Oh, and don't ever underestimate the strength of the Amish, no matter their age or gender!

Just when I thought things were calming for the main characters, something dangerous happened. Action packed story. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.

Amish Country Murder is a superb mystery written by Mary Alford that you won't want to miss. This is another exceptional story filled with drama and suspense. The characters are very likeable except for maybe one and that one you will want to catch yourself. Branded the Dead of the Night Killer this character will surprise you when all is revealed. He has already killed at least six young women but there may be more but because of one small mistake his latest victim Catherine Fisher has made her escape. What he doesn't realize is that she has lost her many and posses no threat to him. As he continues to try to abduct her time and again she is gradually regaining bits and pieces of her memory through the help of FBI Agent Sutter Brenneman. Keeping Catherine safe is anything but easy and Sutter takes the brundt end of many of the attacks. There are so many emotions at play throughout this story especially when Catherine and Sutter finally piece it all together. This is a very exciting read and very hard to put down.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. All opinions are strictly my own.

Congratulations to Mary Alford for writing another suspense packed mystery for her readers enjoyment.

"She was completely at her kidnapper's mercy. And he had none."

This has to be one of the most intense stories that I've ever read. My heart jumped to my throat from the first page and it never seemed to return to its rightful place! My emotions were all over the place as I read this young woman's attempts to escape from a sadistic kidnapper. Author Mary Alford has created some fascinating and memorable characters. The kidnapper/serial killer is truly a madman and FBI Agent Sutter Brenneman is definitely hero material but it is Catherine who grabbed my heart. Her determination to live, her certainty that God was watching over her, and her struggle to remember her identity were all very endearing to me. Is it any wonder that Sutter was also drawn to Catherine? Even though she remembered nothing about her previous life and could already be in a personal relationship with someone else? Could there be a happy ending for them?

As the danger continues there are several other mysteries that emerge and Alford's dramatic conclusion is both satisfying and surprising! Amish Country Murder is romantic suspense at its best and it is a book that you won't want to miss!

I received a copy of this book from the author and Celebrate Lit. I was under no obligation and these opinions are my own.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Amish Country Murder is a fast pace suspense that will keep you biting your nail for a few hours while you are reading it! No matter how much she tried, Catherine Fisher’s missing memory was no help in solving this crime before other are killed.

This Amish suspense will sure keep you on the edge of your seats. With so many twists and turns, the serial on the run, this is not your usual Amish story. Author Mary Alford creates a cast of characters that play their parts well as the tell the story. I enjoyed the way the plot unfolded, and the characters developed so well as I continued to read the story. This is a story I really enjoyed, even though I didn’t read the first book in this series.  For me it is certainly ok as a stand alone. If you enjoy a good suspense/mystery,  I encourage you to pick up a copy of Amish County Mystery. If you love a good clean Amish story, this one is for you. Try this one out for a few hours that will sure take  you on a journey that will keep you entertained and you will sure enjoy.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

He's killed before...can she truly escape him?

Yikes! Who knew a peaceful Montana Amish community could be so dangerous with a serial killer on the loose?! And I'm not just talking about the Montana winters...Not a bit!

Over the years I've read and watched a lot of mysteries and suspense but I'll confess that with Amish Country Murder the only thing I did know was who WASN'T the killer. Maybe I should have, but I totally did not see the villain's identity coming. At. All. Mary Alford certainly kept me guessing and in the dark with this one!

I really enjoyed Mary Alford's latest Amish romantic suspense hybrid. And I particularly liked the choice one character had to make about faith and life, it was definitely different from the typical Amish story. Like chills and thrills and serial killer stories? You really must check out the Love Inspired Suspense novel Amish Country Murder.

A nonstop ride with a serial killer in Amish country that keeps you guessing and gives you chill bumps. I was impressed with Ms. Alford’s take on an Amish themed book and how a serial killer has everyone stumped as to who it is. Job well done. I enjoyed the characters especially Catherine’s interplay with the child Lily. My only complaint is I wanted the ending to be longer because that would fulfill my romantic heart. Great book for a rainy afternoon read while curled under a blanket so you can tuck your head under it when it gets suspenseful.

Wow, what a story. This is not your average Amish story. I really enjoyed the story and the characters with the mystery, suspense, action, intrigue , and revetting that kept me trying to read faster to see what was going to happen next. This is a page turner and just when the calm comes everything starts up again. The author keeps you guessing in this one.

This started off with a bang and continued throughout the story. Getting into the mind of a serial killer who always seems to be one step ahead of authority kept the suspense going nonstop. I enjoyed getting to know Catherine as she learned more about herself. She had trouble remembering where she had been, what happened to her and even her home and last name. FBI agent Sutter promises to keep her safe but at times it seems almost impossible. Why is the killer after Catherine? Did he have her twin sister? Was she even still alive? So many questions to try and find the answer to before another young woman is found murdered. This book truly kept me guessing.

I loved this book. I was all set not to like it because it was Amish and truthfully I am not a fan of Amish books. But this one grabbed me on the first page and didn’t let go until the end. The FBI Agent and the woman with no memory are running and trying to stay hidden from a serial killer. This page turner will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. Mary Alford has done a terrific job on this one and I recommend it to all Romantic Suspense fans.

Amish Country Murder

Amish Country Murder is a great suspense/mystery. Kept me guessing of who suspect was. Catherine gets away from her attacker but he keeps coming after her. She loses her memory at first. Will she get her memory back? Sutter is the FBI agent who is protecting her. The book was a fast reading book which I love kind of books. I enjoyed the book very much.

Did you know that they have Amish Suspense books? I did not until I picked up one from MCcays the last time we were there. I could not put this book down and finished it in one sitting.   Catherine is the first sole survivor of the Dead of Night Killer. Of course she has amnesia when she is found. She slowly remembers that she is Amish and also there are others that were left behind. How can she work and trust the FBI agent that is with her? Of course he was Amish before but left the life for the police! This was a book that I did enjoy. The only thing is that the killer would show up wherever they were dressed in black and with a ski mask so no one could figure out who they were. The killer would come up to Catherine to take her away but somehow the agent would go around the corner or step inside right at that moment. There was just too much of Oh, he is here stalking us but then Oh, he got away. In the final part of the book we do find out who the killer is and why everything has happened. I would try another one of these suspense novels again.

Thank you in advance to the author, Mary Alford, and JustRead Publicity tours for providing a complimentary advance review copy. A positive review was not required. All words and thoughts are my own.

Any chance to read a romantic suspense novel, I’m in. If it is a clean and/or Christian novel – all the better! This has definitely become one of my FAVORITE genres!

And, getting to read a book by a new-to-me-author is always a good thing.

About 20 years ago, I was introduced to Harlequin’s Intrigue line. I didn’t get introduced to the “Love Inspired” line until 2003. At the time, the publisher was Steeple Hill. They added a suspense line later on.

Flash-forward to today …

A lot has changed, and now the Love Inspired Suspense line is definitely my #1 favorite. My second is the regular Love Inspired line. I’m so glad that Harlequin kept them.

This book is somewhat part of a series, which I’m going to call “Amish Country” for now. However this book is easily a standalone read. The first one (“Amish Country Kidnapping”) isn’t required to be read first, but I am adding it to the TBR list (which never ends) as it introduces two characters who have a substantial role in this book – Noah Warren and his wife Rachel, who are married and have a daughter.

Right off this cover drew me in – the threatening and ominous fire colored clouds, the scared girl on the front, and the man in the barn. Sinister intent abounds. Definitely doesn’t seem like it would bode well.

And, it doesn’t.

From the first page until almost the very last, the action does not stop. I could hardly put it down. It was very well written and had such an engaging pace to it. This was an easy to follow book, but might be hard to keep up with as there is a lot going on here – a serial killer, kidnapping, attempted murder

This story begins as Catherine (although she doesn’t remember her name) has escaped a killer, but almost died in the process. From there, the killer won’t stop. But, he’s also a killer that the FBI is hunting.

He and his motives are both unknowns. What is known – he won’t stop. When I read it at night, I found myself looking around when I heard a noise. Alford did a wonderful job in creating a mysterious and creepy killer who doesn’t care who he hurts to get what he wants.

This is definitely a heart-pounding, exciting read.

When the suspect was revealed in chapter 17, it came as a shock as I didn’t expect that turn. I honestly expected the killer was someone who was investigating the crime due to how many times he escaped law enforcement or missed them. But, I was definitely wrong.

While a bit on the dark side (as most suspense is) – this has just enough faith to see the characters through. There are references to God (Gott), but it isn’t a central theme or a sermon based story.

“She was completely at her kidnapper’s mercy. And he had none.”

Wow! Of the Love Inspired Suspense titles that I’ve read, Mary Alford’s “Amish Country Murder” definitely takes the top spot! By implementing common thriller tropes in a unique manner and setting, Alford crafts an original and addictive story that you will not be able to put down. The story opens shortly before the main character escapes from the person who kidnapped her, a ruthless serial killer who has already murdered six women and has been nicknamed the Dead of Night Killer. But she won’t get away that easily, as the killer continues to pursue her despite protective measures. To complicate matters, she has amnesia and can remember only her first name, Catherine. As bits and pieces of her life begin coming back to her, Catherine finds herself in increasing danger by a killer with whom she seems to share some kind of connection, if only she could remember what it is before it’s too late.

Alford skillfully writes a page-turning suspense novel that turns the normal genre features on their head and will leave you breathless. I sympathized with Catherine’s character and was rooting for her to remember but also to stay safe. Despite being described as physically small, she is strong for having survived and fought back against the killer both during and after her captivity. I love how her faith in God plays an integral role in her identity, and how even when she does not know who she is, she still communicates with God. FBI agent Sutter Brenneman did not seem to me to fit the bill of hero immediately, but I appreciated his own tangled past and his push to move forward and to protect. The Montana setting is unique and adds to the story’s flavor. As much as I could not wait to find out the answers behind this book’s mysteries, I was sorry to see it end.

Suggestions for reading this book are :
Find a comfortable place you want to stay for a few hours, gather snacks, seat belt not required but may come in handy and a steady heart beat would be helpful as you get ready for your adventure.
Now you are prepared for the ride of your life in this action packed, edge of your seat suspense with surprises, unexpected twists and a cast of characters that jump off the page. The first few pages deliver an adrenaline rush that won’t stop till the end. I literally jumped out of my skin as Catherine tried to escape her captor. I screamed for her to run and not look back. Her ordeal is written so vividly that I felt like I was watching a movie . In fact it should be made into a movie.
Sutter is an expert FBI agent but I think at times he was overwhelmed with the strategy of the Dead of Night Killer. He seemed to know every step Catherine and Sutter took and their lives were constantly hanging by a thread. I could hear my heart beating as I rapidly turned pages. The author has grabbed my attention with this story. I loved how the mystery unfolded and oh how I wanted to tell Catherine to keep having faith.
Catherine has amnesia after her attack by the Dead of Night Killer but she has a chance to get it back. There is where the danger lies for the killer. He must have felt desperate to get to her knowing at any time she would remember everything. The killer is relentless in his pursuit of Catherine which had me trying to figure out where the dots would connect. Don’t miss this explosive story that takes you to the edge of danger and drops you into an unimaginable suspenseful ride. This story goes on my 2020 top favorite books.

My Thoughts on Amish Country Murder:
I loved this book. It read super fast for me and I was sad when it was over. The author did a great job of taking a bad subject and bringing it to a bit lighter where you could read it without having to put the book down for periods.

It seems at times that I read books that all have a central theme. Recently, this has been amnesia and murder mysteries! I love how this one involves a girl who is Amish but doesn’t know she is Amish and a man who was Amish but now isn’t. How’s that for confusing!?

The killer seems to know everything about her, he knows where she is and how to get to her too. How does he know this? Where is he getting his information? Can they have a traitor in their midst? Catherine Fisher doesn’t know who she is or where she’s from but she knows she’s terrified of someone and worried about someone else. But who?

Can they catch the Dead of Night Killer before he kills again? Or before he comes back to finish the job with Catherine? And can they find out who Catherine is and why the killer seems to have a personal reason to want her dead before it’s too late?

Great book! It read super fast and I loved reading it. Great plot and the suspense kept it moving. Highly recommend this book.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. From the very first sentence we begin right in the middle of a life and death situation in this surprising non-stop thriller. And I mean non-stop. It felt like these characters could never catch a breath. The serial killer always seemed one or two steps ahead of them, and we was a formidable evil man. He just wouldn't give up. No matter how safe the characters thought they were they were never safe enough.

Catherine Fisher is a woman who has been abducted and due to a head injury has also lost her memory, temporarily. Waking up in a haze a pain with no memory of why and just knowing that she are about to die was enough to get her moving. Thankfully she meets a rather protective FBI agent by the name of Sutter Brenneman who has been tracking this murderer. Sutter who feels a very strong connection with Catherine won't let her out of his sight and he knows for them to beat this evil, Catherine needs to recover some of her memories. And he pland to be with her every step of the way.

This was one of those reads that factored into my dreams and made them a little more adrenaline filled than needed to be. I enjoyed the thrills and the mystery that evolved around this couple.

I was provided with a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Amish Country Murder. I'm always glad to receive one of Mary's books. I really like Amish Stories but I love Amish Suspense stories. So this is a no-brainer for me. Her books are awesome. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Catherine Fisher wakes up in a basement one night with her no memory. Her life before her kidnapping is a blank. She is zip tied; tethered to a support beam, lying on a concrete floor, her body broken form the things this mad man has done to her. He comes to her but his phone rings and he leaves. He didn't lock the door! This was her chance! She escapes but is captured again. When he opens the trunk she kicks him and then runs. Its icy, he shoots her, and she falls into the icy water below the bridge.

FBI Agent Sutter Brenneman is chasing after the Dead of Night Killer. Two Amish boys have found a young woman who is an escaped victim of the killer. She is the key to finding him but she remembers nothing. Can he keep her safe? Can he find this killer before he kills Catherine or attacks another young woman?

A terrifying journey to find this killer and keep Catherine safe. God has a plan for these two broken souls. A plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.

Oh. My. Gravy. This books opens with a bang (literally) and does not stop. I have read several books by this author, and I think this may be one of my favorites. Catherine is kidnapped - she has no idea where she is - or WHO she is. Sutter is the agent assigned to keep her safe. However, her kidnapper will not stop until she is dead. This book takes you on twists and turns - and the killer does not let up. She is the only living witness to have gotten away from him. Sutter and Catherine will go on an adventure - trying to blend in with an Amish family - and slowly Catherine starts to remember who she is - but can she remember who attacked her?

This book is so action packed - and did not stop. I started this book on a Saturday afternoon - and finished it by the evening. I could not put it down. Catherine is so sweet - and your heart goes out to her. Sutter is (as I pictured) the kind of agent you crush on - but he realizes that he is crushing on the one he is trying to protect. These characters are so well written - you feel their flaws, you feel their pain. You're heart goes out to them - since they can't catch a break. This book had me guessing until the end - I had my suspicions and a few suspects - so it was fun to try and eliminate them.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program, all thoughts are my own.

What I think you should know:
Amish Country Murder is an Amish Suspense book by Mary Alford. It is the second of her books set in the same Amish community. While it is a standalone it does have some of the same characters from the first book, Amish Country Kidnapping. If you don't want spoilers you will need to read it first. ( I wish I had read it, this one is THAT GOOD! )

What you might need to know:
This is a suspense, Catherine is kidnapped, tortured and held hostage.

What I enjoyed about this book:
This isn’t your typical Amish girl meets boy, they fall in love and live happily ever after, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat, then it hits you out of nowhere with a twist that you didn’t see coming. It is also set more in the English world than the Amish world which is a unique setting that I enjoyed. The characters were strong and realistic, but most of all loveable! While this is the first book I have read by Aldford, it will definitely not be the last.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Amish Fiction Books are my favorite Genre of books. I am not normally a Mystery/Suspense fan, but after reading Amish Country Murder, I can get used reading more books like this.

The Author, Mary Alford, really draws the reader in within the first page. I truly could not put this book down and finished it within 3hrs. A serial killer is on the loose and only person, Catherine Fisher, has survived the attacks that left many dead. FBI Agent Sutter Brenneman is working the case to try to solve the killings and attacks. He interviews Catherine, although she doesn't remember much of the attack, and that is when sparks begin to fly between the 2 of them. The story is filled with many twists and turns and will keep the reader wanting to finish the book in one sitting.

I LOVE this book very much! The Suspense, Romance, and Mystery in the Amish World are such a great twist from what I normally read. GREAT BOOK!

Let me tell you a story. Obviously, with as many books as I review I am reading more than one at a time. Such as the case with this book. I was going to pick it up one night just read another chapter and then move on to my other book.
That didn’t happen.
I ended up finishing this one and I don’t think I was even 50% through it when I picked it up. I just couldn’t put it down. Each chapter left me hanging and I had to know who was after Catherine. The author did a great job giving tiny clues but never giving it away until it was very close to the end.
Definitely not your typical Amish fiction and that is what I loved about it. We meet two characters in this book that I am guessing were in the first book of the series and now I want to read that book to see how that all played out.

A copy of this book was given to me through the Celebrate Lit Team. All opinions are my own.

Her memory before waking up in the basement the night before was blank. Her head ached. Vision blurred….She was completely at her kidnapper’s mercy. And he had none.”

This is how this book begins, and there’s never a point in the book where the action completely slows down. Catherine Fisher is an Amish woman that’s targeted by a serial killer, and FBI agent Sutter Breneman is doing his best to protect her. I liked Catherine. She shows great courage and resourcefulness as she works through her terrible situation; and Sutter makes the perfect hero for Catherine. There’s a twist to this story that I did not see coming, and this book is definitely not a typical Amish story. Author Mary Alford has written an intense story that’s definitely a page-turner.

Okay wow, um no!!! I do not know how this book has raving reviews. This book had me gripped until Chapter 8. Then it slipped and fell and went dull.
At first, this book reminded me of that show Blindspot, was really good. Got me hooked and then in chapter 8, she suddenly remembered the child's name? Just like that? Bad acting. Then, she just remembered she was Amish just like that? In one second? Ummmm I don't think that's realistic. Bad acting again and then after she dresses Amish, the killer is just there just there in a second firing a gun 🙄🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ whaaaaat!
Bad acting again.
Geese.
How did this get good reviews? I am sooooo mad, I was hooked then it like went to bad acting.
Don't recommend. Good until chapter 8.
I literally skimmed 99 percent and just went to the end. Nothing special. Mediocre. Eh. Patterson is a bit better. A for effort

I honestly did not think I would end up liking this as much as I did because suspense is usually not my thing,  but I was intrigued by the title. When I started reading Amish Country Murder,  I was immediately sucked into the events of the novel and I had to see what happened next.

Character-wise there is not much to say about them because it was definitely a novel where the focus is more on the plot and not so much on character development, like other novels tend to be. However, I did like how Sutter is forced to confront his anger towards God,  and even himself, for something that happened in his past.

Plot-wise, the plot was great, although I will admit thateven though I liked how the culprit was caught I was still a little bit let down by the reveal - but it did not tamper my enjoyment of this novel!

I highly recommend this book for fans of NCIS or Criminal Minds because it reads like and episeode of one of those shows (especially Criminal Minds), but just a little bit tamer. I am defintiely looking forward to checking out more of Mary Alfrod's books in the future! 4/5 Stars.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. So from the very first page the author sucks you into the story and keeps you guessing almost to the very end and I say almost only because she finally says who does it and with in a few pages he's caught. This book was so stinking good. you get to catch up with characters from Amish county kiddnapping. The author was throwing in twist and turns and the whole time leaving you wanting more. I really can't wait to read more from this group of characters. This is a good clean book and suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is the first full length book I've read by Mary Alford (I had read one novella before in a collection). I found the book to be well written and kept me guessing who the Dark of Night Killer was. I was surprised in the end when I found out who it was. I was hoping for a more of a explanation as to why he did what he did. There were many twists that kept me reading. There was an element of faith woven through the book. I look forward to reading more books by Mary Alford.

I got a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and given voluntarily. No compensation was given for my review.
