Amish of Pontotoc #4

An Amish Husband for Tillie

Rate this book
For the Amish of Pontotoc, Mississippi, all roads lead to faith, family, and tradition, even when the path is unconventional—especially at Christmas . . .   Tillie Gingerich is so in love with Melvin Yoder that she agrees to leave her conservative Amish home to live with him in the English world. But when the struggle to make ends meet leads to conflict, and reveals troubling weaknesses in their relationship, Tillie returns to Pontotoc—pregnant and unmarried. Her loving family accepts her, but to convince the rest of the community, they must turn to the bishop. Distraught, Tillie runs away on Christmas Eve—only to get as far as an isolated house on the edge of town.   Levi Yoder, Melvin’s upright distant cousin, is grieving the loss of his wife and wants to be alone. He is hardly pleased to open his door and find a pregnant woman––a painful reminder of all he’s lost. But with an ice storm approaching, he can’t turn Tillie away. Yet as morning nears, the miracle of Christmas brings unexpected challenges, opportunities—and promises for the future . . .  Praise for Amy Lillard and her Wells Landing novels  “An inspirational story of romance, faith, and trust . . . will appeal to fans of Wanda Brunstetter and Beverly Lewis.” —Library Journal on Caroline’s Secret  “Fans of inspirational romance will appreciate Lillard’s vivid characters and positive message.” –Publishers Weekly     Visit us www.kensingtonbooks.com

I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)

Favorite movies--(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940's movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.

A Favorite Amish Book

Amish fiction is one of my favorite genres and this is now my favorite Amish story. I enjoyed every minute of this book. Great characters with lots of love and Christmas joy to go around. I was so happy to win this on Goodreads. Now I need to buy the previous books in the series.

An Amish Husband for Tillie continues the Amish of Pontotoc series, set in Northeast Mississippi. Tillie is returning to her Amish family in a state of shame, eight months pregnant, after living with her Amish boyfriend Melvin. She and Melvin have loved each other for years. While he wants to live and work among the English, she doesn't. She wants to spend Christmas and beyond with her family, even though she knows that she will be shunned. She hopes that he will follow her but knows the chances are slim. Unless Melvin moves back too and they agree to go before the church, confess their sins, ask for forgiveness, and marry, they will not be able to live in their community. Tillie is subjected to stares and whispers from church members. Needing to get away from a crowded Christmas party at her parents' home, she sets out walking and gets lost during a winter storm and wound up at the home of a fellow church member, Levi, who recently lost his wife and unborn child. Mourning and wanting to be left alone, it was hard for him to allow her in his home but when Tillie goes into labor, he has to help her deliver the baby girl. The storm keeps them stranded for a few days and the two get to know each other. two souls who are in pain and unsure about their future.
This is an emotional story that really pulls on the heartstrings. Tillie is in a no win situation that I didn't know of a good outcome. Levi is drawn to the baby and to Tillie, opening himself up to the living again. But Melvin has to know that he has a baby girl. Will he return to Pontotoc to Tillie and the baby? Can they mend their relationship? This is a story that I didn't really want to end and it will stay with me for a while.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington Books and Zebra through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

This is a truly delightful book. I've read all of the books in the Amish of Pontotoc series and it's wonderful to revisit the characters here and get updated on what they've been doing .
It feels like coming home reading these books, they are just so warm and welcoming.
Returning home again leaves Tillie with concerns after being stared at and gossiped about. Will she be accepted and how will the bishop handle her return, it has her prayerful and nervous.
I felt empathetic towards Levi's character when I found out he had lost his wife and baby .
I loved the connection Levi and Tillie had and felt their characters strengthened each other when they where together.
Love, acceptance, faith, trust and compassion and key here.
Beautiful story with a strong plot. I recommend it.

When I read this book back in 2020, I gave it 3 Stars but neglected to provide a review. As I am working on some older galleys in my queue, this is a book that I chose to reread so that my thoughts on it could be fresh.

Maybe I have Amish on the brain as in the past few days I have read over a dozen Amish fiction books, including rereading this one. This time around I am granting this book 5 Stars. This book really got to me this time because the heart, loss, grief and love all played important roles between what happened for Tillie and Levi.

Tillie had not yet been baptized in the Amish faith and left with her boyfriend at the time Melvin. She has returned home for a time as she is heavily pregnant and is rethinking her life with Melvin, all while missing being Amish. However, the rules are strict, and Tillie has some hard decisions she has to make, especially as unwed mothers are not accepted in the Amish faith.

As Tillie was never baptized, she is not officially shunned, but that doesn't mean she can remain, especially once her unborn child is born. One night after being stressed out she flees. She ends up in Levi's barn during a heavy snowstorm. The snow is falling hard and the roads might soon be impassible, so Levi offers Tillie a room, at least for the night.

This is especially difficult for Levi as he lost his pregnant wife and their unborn child. He is plagued with both grief and anger at the loss and now he is dealing with a pregnant woman in his house - a woman who ends up giving birth there.

While Levi is dealing with the pain of his losses, Tillie is trying to sort her future. I love the story between Tillie and Levi, especially as Tillie cannot help but hope for reunification with Melvin. Trying to imagine love after loss and new beginnings was difficult but the story was so touching that it truly rang home to me, especially after a second read.

Many thanks to Zebra Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This is my first time reading anything written by Amy Lillard and it won't be the last . I haven't read any of the other books in this series and plan to make that a priority. I thought the cover was attractive and very fitting for the story . I fell in love with the characters and enjoyed getting to know them. A very nice Christmas story about Love and forgiveness.
Melvin Yoder and Tillie Gingerich had left their Amish Community in Ponotoc Mississippi two years ago. They had moved to the city of Columbus and lived as an English couple. Then Tillie got pregnant and Melvin hadn't felt it necessary for them to get married. They argued because Tillie wanted them to return to Pontotoc to raise their child as Amish. Melvin loved living as an Engliser and refused to return to that life.
Tillie was homesick for her family and left Melvin to return home. She didn't know if her family would except her back especially since she was in the family way and not married. Such things went against the Amish standards of living. Would they turn her out into the cold or would they welcome her back and allow her to stay? Would Melvin follow her back home and change his mind about returning to the Amish world?
Readers of Amish Fiction will love this beautiful Christmas story . I would recommend reading the other books in the series before reading this one. I was a bit confused about who was who when it came to the characters. But still enjoyed the book to the last page.
I won a pre-release Kindle ebook copy of An Amish Husband for Tillie in a goodreads giveaway. Book to be released on September 29, 2020. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.

"All she wanted was to return home, be among her family, and spend Christmas in their loving embrace."

Author Amy Lillard poignantly shares Tillie Gingerich's fears and uncertainties as she returns home, unmarried and expecting a child, after living as an Englisher with her ex-Amish boyfriend. Her realistic portrayal of Levi Yoder's overwhelming grief over the loss of his wife and childand his desire to avoid the holidays is one that many of us can relate to. I could totally imagine both of these character's struggles and then, in an unexpected occurrence, Levi is shown that life does go on and Tillie is given a glimpse of a future that she never dreamed possible. Will Tillie's church forgive her transgressions and will Melvin, her baby's father, return to the Amish way of life?

An Amish Husband for Tillie is an enjoyable story filled with a variety of emotions and several surprising twists but readers are reminded that hope is ever present, forgiveness is always possible, and everyone deserves a second chance. This book offers inspiration and encouragement and I recommend it to all who enjoy holiday stories and Amish Christian fiction.

I loved this book, I felt like I was walking in Tillie's shoes as she begins to grow up and accept responsibilities.
We also meet Levi, a young Amish man with so much hurt and pain, you wonder how he can move on?
Will Tillie's family allow her to return to them and her faith? I did not realize that when you have left with a fellow member of your community, and now there is a baby on the way, you both have to return and take a knee to remain.
You can see God's had here, through the words of the Author, and it is heart warming, remembering another baby born in a stable. A beautiful tribute to the true meaning of the Christmas season.
A sweet read, you don't want to miss.

Faith, love and trust are the main theme in this book. I feel that fans of Amish fiction will love this book just as much if not more than I did.
I love how God orchestrates things don't you? I know I do and this book does an excellent job in showing that.
I'm glad that Tillie finally got her own story! Yay! I certainly enjoyed in getting to know her and from the very beginning I felt I already knew her from the previous books.
This woman definitely has courage. More than anyone I"ve met in real life. I wish I were more like her. Her, not her circumstances in life. However: they can happen to anyone and how different people handle it makes a difference.
My heart went out to Levi. I won't say why because I don't want to give away any more things about this book.
Grief has no time limit and some people heal in their own way.
I know it took me a long time to get over my loss. It's not easy so I certainly sympathized with Levi.
Lillard has done an excellent job of telling this story. She definitely makes you turn the pages to see what happens to Levi and Tillie.
I appreciate it because of the inspirational messages that were woven throughout the book. It's one of the many reasons why I love Amish fiction.
My many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review for this book and all opinions are my own.

*I listened to the audio version of this story and enjoyed it again just as much as the first time I read through it.*

This was such a great story! Tillie Gingerich was in quite the predicament throughout the book. She had to deal with the shame of returning home as an unwed woman who was expecting a baby and she spent much of the book feeling out of place and hopeless about her situation.

Levi’s loss broke my heart. He was truly struggling after the death of his wife and unborn child. It had not been long since he lost them and it was clear that he felt true despair and loneliness.

The way Tillie and Levi ended up thrown together in a quite unique situation made for a great time of sweet bonding for the two of them. This story really pulled on my heartstrings and had me wondering how everything was going to work out.

Although this is book four in the Amish of Pontotoc series, I believe that it could be enjoyed even if the other books had not been read.

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard is the 4th novel in Amish of Pontotoc series. I recommend reading the series in order. This will allow you understand the sisters’ stories. I was eager to read Tillie’s tale. I found this emotional story to be well-written with steady pacing. The characters are realistic and developed. I was happy to that Tillie’s large family was included and that we get to catch up with her sisters from the previous three books (Leah, Hannah, and Gracie). Tillie Gingerich is scared to return home after taking off for the English world with Melvin Yoder. We get to experience her fears and uncertainties. Tillie knows the rules of the community, but she wants to spend Christmas with her family. Her baby is due in less than a month which has her longing for the comfort of home and family. I thought the author did a wonderful job at expressing Tillie’s emotions and thoughts. Amy Lillard does the same for Levi Yoder who is devastated when his pregnant wife dies unexpectedly. Levi goes from happy husband and expectant father to a widower. The approaching holidays are not helping his mood nor the caring ladies of the community who drop by with food. I could feel Levi’s grief and how overwhelming it is to him. I could relate to his feelings regarding the holiday season. I did not understand the bishop’s decision regarding Tillie considering that she was not a baptized member. I know it is fiction, but I found the situation harsh. I wanted to give that bishop a piece of my mind. I just loved Levi’s sister, Mims. She is a force to be reckoned with when she is on a mission. You can tell how much she loves her brother. An Amish Husband for Tillie is a moving and inspiring story. We see that God’s plan for our life may not be our plan. We never know what he has in mind for our lives. The story deals with love, faith, forgiveness, acceptance, trust, compassion, and second chances. Everyone deserves a second chance. An Amish Husband for Tillie is a touching and encouraging holiday story that will tug on your heartstrings.

Tillie Gingerich finds herself in a bad situation. She left the Amish with her childhood sweetheart Melvin Yoder who wanted to live in the English world. But now she is back for Christmas with her family and she is pregnant. She and Melvin are not married. She will have to leave very soon if Melvin does not come back and join the church and marry her. Meanwhile she meets Levi Yoder (no relation to Melvin), who has recently lost his wife and infant son. They become friends and help each other out. It’s quite a conundrum and is resolved in an interesting way.

I really enjoyed this book and will look for previous books in this series to read. I recommend this book to friends who like this genre.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Tillie Gingerich is so in love with Melvin Yoder she leaves all she has ever known in their Pontotoc Amish community to live with him in the English world. When Tillie discovers the grass is not always greener on the other side, she returns to their Amish community at Christmas time. She is unhappy, unmarried, and pregnant and hopes Melvin will miss her and follow her. Among the Amish in Pontotoc will she find forgiveness, or will she be shunned by her family and community? A heartwarming and inspirational story of hope, love, and the true meaning of a miracle at Christmas. This is book number four in the Amish of Pontotoc series. Each is stand alone.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. My opinions are my own and no one has influenced them.

An Amish Husband for Tillie is a lovely Amish novel with engaging character and a fulfilling plot. The pacing kept me enmeshed in the story from the first page to the last. The setting is not common for Amish fictions since it’s set in Pontotoc, Mississippi. While I question the harsh severity of the bishop’s attitude, I’m confident other Amish communities can have different ways to handle the heroine’s situation.

Tillie Gingerich’s character is deeply troubled and confused when she returns to her family after living in the Englisch world with her boyfriend. She wants her unborn baby to be raised Amish, and her boyfriend refuses to return to the small Amish community they are from, so she comes back on her own. I could feel her fear for her child and the rejection of the extremely strict bishop. Her bewilderment of what she must do. Her choice is leave on her own or return to her boyfriend which isn’t what she wants for her child.

Levi Yoder is the hero, and he lost his beloved wife and unborn child a few months before. He dreads the Christmas season because he and his late wife imagined her having their babe on the blessed day. Seeing Tillie just adds to his misery. He tries to avoid the town, his family, and the pregnant Tillie, but his sister is determined to pull him kicking and screaming to the celebrations. His depression and need to isolate is understandable after suffering such a devastating loss.

When the very pregnant Tillie ends up in Levi’s barn during a violent snowstorm, that when Tillie and Levi’s romance begins. It’s sweet and believable because of the situation the couple are in. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you enjoy Amish fiction with characters and a plot that will touch your heart, then you will love An Amish Husband for Tillie as much as I did. I have enjoyed this heartwarming series. Happy reading!

This is book 4 of The Amish of Pontotoc Series. Amy is such a great author and touches on real-life problems, which also touch the lives of the Amish people. Tillie finds herself going home to her Amish town and family. She has much to think about as she realizes what her future may hold for her as she heads home. Pregnant and single, she returns to her family. But how will she be accepted by family, friends and Amish community? Uncertain as to how the father of her child with respond, she realizes that she does want to be Amish, but in her condition, things may not go well.

Levi, a young Amish man, who recently became widowed is so unhappy and full of grief and finding a pregnant woman during a sudden storm is not something he expects or wants to become involved with.

The story is very touching, and full of tender moments. As Christmas quickly approaches, the bishop of her community tells her she must make life determining decisions very soon thereafter. What will the future bring?

Such a good book.. It's very enjoyable to read and a feel good book you will love!

All Tillie wanted was home for her and her baby. Love was not part of the mix, but it snuck up on her anyway. She'd had it tough and she just wanted a different and new life at home.
Life had taken Levi through the grinder and he just wanted to be left alone. There is this thing about grief, it loves its company. My heart went out for him as he struggled to believe any good could come out of his misfortune and pain.
Tillie and Levi both just wanted peace and light at the end of the dark tunnels of their lives. Both of them had history they learnt to accept and move on, making the best out of life.

The beauty and closeness of the Amish family was so heartwarming and refreshing in this book.
This is a beautiful story of second chances, love, redemption and forgiveness.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful Christmas read as this story was set during that time.

First book I have read by this author but I am interested in reading more. Interesting book with an interesting twist!

Tillie Gingerich is an Amish girl who has left her way of life along with her boyfriend, Melvin Yoder to go out into the English world. With the holidays, especially Christmas, coming Tillie finds herself missing her family. She also is pregnant but she & Melvin have not married. She doesn't feel like he is interested in ever marrying her so she decides to go back home for awhile. Her family welcomes her back with open arms but the bishop of their community is not so easy to deal with. He tells her that the only way she is welcome to stay is if Melvin comes back & they get married after confessing to the church. In the meantime, Tillie meets Levi Yoder who has recently been widowed. They strike up a friendship.

On Christmas Eve, Tillie doesn't feel like she has any chance of staying so she proceeds to run away. While she is out on the road in an ice storm walking with no real source of protection, she ends up at Levi's house where she ends up staying the night in the extra room because of the weather. While there, she goes into labor & ends up having her baby. From here, the story gets somewhat tangled because she & Levi have become pretty good friends but then Melvin ends up coming back into the picture also. Right up to almost the end of the book, the reader is left wondering what will happen with the triangle relationship.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book & would recommend it . I would like to thank the publisher, Zebra & Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

I just finished this book by Amy Lillard. Wow! Get ready to be for the twists and turns and the unexpected in this wonderful story of Tille.

There are so many things I liked about this story, I must name at least one which is the setting in which this story takes place in Pontotoc, Mississippi. I promise you this, with the turn of the page, you will be saying "oh no" I just can't believe that just happened as your catching your breath praying, and hoping for a different outcome.

You will love Tille and each person you will be introduced to here in this story. I encourage you to add this one your bookshelf and get one for a friend or give as a gift.

Tillie is back in Pontotoc Amish Community. Tillie left the community to go be with Melvin Yoder now she is back. Things aren't going so great with Melvin and the outside world as she thought. Only this time she is showing up without Melvin and pregnant. Tillie is going through so much and so many different emotions. Will her family accept her back with open arms? Will Melvin ever open his eyes and see what he is losing?
I really enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I didn't want it to end.

Near Christmas Tillie Gingerich returns to her Pontotoc County, Mississippi Amish home without the father of her soon-to-be-born child. She followed Melvin to Columbus when he left the Amish, working in a day care while he followed his dream to work with engines. She knew she wanted her child to grow up in the Amish country rather than the English world. Her dream, however, is impossible unless Melvin returns and marries her. She faces excommunication and shunning. Levi Yoder wanted nothing more than to hibernate after his wife and unborn child died a few months earlier. His sister Mims tries to help him, but he retreats more and more. Although much of the plot seems predictable, I felt connected to the characters and wanted the best for Tillie and her child. I wanted the Christmas miracle I knew would happen. I received this book through a GoodReads giveaway. While a review was not required, one is appreciated. (3.5 stars)

Tillie is a young Amish woman who has been the “prodigal daughter” and is now expecting a baby. She has long regretted her impulsive action to leave their Amish community to follow her boyfriend into an English lifestyle, and she’s returned home to her family to seek forgiveness and help. Levi Yoder is grieving the loss of his wife and unborn child. He’s wants to be left alone to grieve, but an unexpected meeting with Tillie forces him to reach out to provide aid to someone else. Tillie’s future depends on the decision of the bishop as to whether she’s allowed to rejoin the community, but her hope hope is to spend Christmas with her family. With so much happening in the lives of Tillie and Levi, this will be a Christmas like neither have experienced.

I had great sympathy for both Tillie and Levi. The author did a beautiful job of making these characters come to life, and I could enter into all the conflicting emotions they were experiencing. I loved how God’s grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness was an integral part of their story. It’s not often that I’m completely surprised by not one, but two, twists in a storyline, but this added another layer of interest and made me keep reading to see how everything would come together for Tillie and Levi. This story is inspiring and encouraging reading.

By: Amy Lillard
After leaving home to be in the English world, Tillie returns to her Amish home. Tillie knows what she wants, but will she be able to do it? Will her family welcome her back home or will they shun her? This story deals with love, hurt, and forgiveness. Loved the story and the characters were vivid.

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard

Reading an Amish book is one full of adventure.

Tillie and Levi, two characters broken by circumstances. Is there a future for each of them?

I love how Tillie’s family rallied around her. This theme showed that family will always be there.

I won’t stop gushing about the Amish meals being prepared. I would love to eat a cinnamon bun if I could.

This is such a sweet book. The book cover is so attractive. I enjoyed it so much.

My Thoughts:

I often read reviews where one of the comments used over and over again is, “The story was so predictable.” Generally when this comment is used, it is used in a negative connotation, as in, “Don’t read it. Don’t waste your time.” However, that isn’t my way of thinking. I feel that even when I can predict that all will end with a happy ending, the fun in reading the story is in the “how” it’s going to end up with a happy ending. What is the sequence of events that will take the story from point A to the “predictable” ending? This turns the predictable to unpredictable, and that’s what makes a story so enjoyable, the unpredictable how. Such is the case with An Amish Husband for Tillie.

This is one time where I feel that giving details about the story will spoil the main characters’ journeys. Therefore, I refuse to go down that rabbit hole. What I can say is this. Tillie and Levi’s journeys will have you turning pages to see what is happening next. It will draw you into the story in a way that will feel like you’re there experiencing everything with them. There are funny parts and sad parts. There are times where you’ll become frustrated, yet other times where you’ll feel happy and hopeful. Through the emotional roller coaster ride that the story will take you on, what comes through over and over is a story of hope, forgiveness, trust in God, and new beginnings. Enjoy the ride. You won’t be disappointed.

Amy has totally done it again!!!!! This book has so many twists and turns and it is definitely not one you should read the ending first. Tillie want to return home and she is pregnant but how does one return home. You are not the same, the people you love are not the same and you have come home with major problems and concerns...then the book starts with introducing Levi and other characters that Tillie has known all her life but how is this all going to work out for her. Whom will she actually end up with and how will everything come together per the ordinances of the church. This is an absolute must read book and you will find so many friends that you have followed before and find out where they are at in their lives right now......Hit a home run on this one AMY.

Why does this have such good ratings? super repetitive and rather stilted and the "twist" at the end was so ridiculous that I quite literally put down my iPad and screamed "WHAT" and then laugh cackled for awhile.

An Amish Husband for Tillie by Amy Lillard
(Amish of Pontotoc #4)
Yet as morning nears, the miracle of Christmas brings unexpected challenges, opportunities—and promises for

This is Tillie Gingerich and Levi Yoder's story.

“Are you sure you’ll be all right?” The English driver looked down the narrow, red-dirt road, then back up into Tillie’s eyes. She smiled in what she hoped was a confident manner and nodded her head. “I’m sure.” It wasn’t too cold out, just enough to let a person know winter had arrived in Northeast Mississippi. But he was talking about something else entirely. He hesitated once more.
He hesitated once more. She held her breath. She didn’t want him to follow her down the road to the house where she had grown up. She knew he was only trying to be kind and gentlemanly, but she didn’t want anyone to be a witness in case they turned her away.
Levi Yoder pulled his gloves from his hands and made his way into the feed store. He hated coming into town. He hated stopping at the feed store. Too many men standing around talking about too many things that hardly seemed to matter. The weather, Thomas Byler’s new carriage mare, and these days . . . Christmas. Most of all, he hated Christmas. And he hated himself for hating it. “What can I getyou, Levi?” the man behind the counter asked. Tyrone Getty had run the co-op for as long as Levi could remember. Like with a lot of folks of color, it was impossible to tell exactly how old Tyrone was. His wiry steel-gray hair bore testament to his years, but his dark face was devoid of wrinkles, smooth and unlined like that of a much younger man.
I highly recommend reading.
