This book covers in detail most of the battles of World War II including North Africa, Italy, the Russian front and the Pacific theatre. It's attractiveness are the battle pictures, the history but also the first hand accounts written by the soldiers themselves of their struggles, fears and ultimate successes. The book has three other sequels which cover other portions of the war. I was surprised by the low rating of the book and I believe this is because of the grainy black and white pictures included. Too bad that soldiers in the heat of battle didn't have digital Iphones seventy-five years ago.

A great brief and succinct summary of key events covering the turning points during WW2 with lots of amazing historical photos. A real pleasure to reread.

An excellent summary of the war, with some riveting first-hand accounts and great photographs. A lucky find at Goodwill. Just missing the first book, sadly.

Very good book in a series about the second world war. Covers the period where the Allies were becoming the aggressors and driving the enemy back. Lots of pictures, though not of the best quality. It picks certain battles from the different theaters of war. A lot of statistics on men and materials, the actual price of war. Will look for the other books in the series.
